THOSE HUMANITARIAN TUNNELS

. I see that three Palestinians have died when a smuggling tunnel under the border between Gaza and Egypt collapsed. Five others who were inside the tunnel, near the Rafah crossing, are missing. The BBC asserts that the tunnels are used to bring fuel, weapons and other supplies into Gaza. Wonder will anyone at the BBC ask why Hamas need these weapons?

The BBC did ask, and the answer is in the article. Note what comes first:

Tunnels are used to bring fuel, weapons and other supplies into Gaza, which has been under an Israeli blockade since Hamas seized control in June 2007.

But hey, at least this incident has forced the BBC to print something about the fact that Egypt has some responsibility for their own border:

He said the tunnels were a result of the blockade of Gaza, and that Egypt “shares the blame” for their existence because it had been co-operating with Israel in keeping the border closed.

Of course, the very next time there’s a Beeboid on air talking about Gaza, it will be, as usual, an “Israeli blockade”, with no mention of Egypt.

And in case anyone wants to claim this article is pro-Israel because it dares to mention the fact that Israel is right about Palestinians smuggling arms, just scroll down to the bottom of the article:

Since 2007, Israel has only allowed humanitarian and basic supplies into Gaza in response to rocket attacks by militants there. Aid agencies say the blockade has created a humanitarian crisis.

A truce between Palestinian militants and Israel has been in place in Gaza since June, although some rockets continue to be launched.

I was wrong. They didn’t even wait for the next report to blame Israel for the problem.

Quite. The Joos are always to blame. It’s the law.

How else should the democratically elected Hamas attack those occupiers?

This is the fault of Israel because they don’t let them import via established channels (aka the French). If Israel would only allow Hamas to bring weapons in via Haifa these freedom fighters would have been able to die more nobly. Like the other martyrs.

No mense, they will get their virgins anyway.

By the way, why do the left not criticise these murderers for their fixation on virginal women?

The BBC even forgot that for a moment, in the sub-editor trainee’s haste to get this posted. They said that Israel had a truce with “militant groups”. Oops! I wonder how long that will last.

You’re right. What was I thinking?

I love the way “fuel, weapons and other supplies” are talked about in the same breath, as though weapons are a vital means of survival.

You’ve got to admire their nerve, they really think we can’t see through their indisputably lame journalism.

Israel has not blockaded vital fuel supplies but Hamas has attacked the depot that delivers it. BBC has even reported on it, here and here although naturally you have to read deeply into the article.

There is evidence that Hamas diverts fuel for humanitarian purposes into their own hands.

Smuggling exists in many places. Only(?) in Gaza does the BBC feel the need to enter the tunnels with the smugglers and report on work accidents.

I thought you would have known what they use the weapons for.

Oh, that’s right you’re acting on behalf of all those who don’t know anything about the Middle East conflict, who can’t read beyond the first few paragraphs of any report and can’t read any of the other vast number of articles linked.

Thank the Lord for DV, acting on behalf of the plebs.

Listen, you could live to be 100 years old and you’d never see the BBC run this story.

There you see. If Egypt would just allow the smuggling of weapons – automatic rifles, grenades, RPGs, and other resistance instruments of peaceful resistance into Gaza, this inhuman situation would never have risen.

In BBC eyes Hamas is a Resistance organisation – they were tunneling for freedom, just as our boys in Colditz.

More lies from the terrorists that the BBC publish without comment.

The tunnels existed long before the so-called “blockade”; Rachel Corrie died protecting one.

What are ‘weapons’ ususally used for? If the BBC didn’t cover this story you’d be screaming bias.

It does cover it, and the best criticism you have is that the article doesn’t explain what ‘weapons’ are used for.

What are they usually used for? what are they designed to be used for? what have they been used for since Neandrathal man first hit his mate with a stick?

How pathetic, I would expect even a numbnut like Martin would know what a weapon is used for and he hasn’t figured out how to go to the bathroom properly yet.
