It just gets more surreal. Anyone catch Mark Wardell’s stomach-churning salutations for the Great Leader on the Ten News? I thought it was really bad even by BBC standards and Wardell even referred to Prudence as “the Saviour of global capitalism”. (This the man who has semi-socialised our banking system!!) As if that were not enough the BBC went on to approvingly quote the EU call for “transparency, accountability, responsibility” in future international financial dealings. Anyone got an update for me on the signing off of the EU annual accounts?

What a shock. WE here all saw through this bollocks spouted by Brown. Now the whole thing is falling apart. Problem is the Tories went along with it. As I’ve said, they should have opposed it. They won’t get any plus from going along with the bogeyman but at least they will be able to attack him when it all goes to rat shit as it is now.
Note the Lloyds TSB / HBOS deal as well. Sky were reporting that the whole thing was off but wanker Peston was saying that was rubbish and the deal was still on.
So where’s the merger then Peston?

The desperation the BBC shows in promoting Labour, perhaps, is not merely an indication of their left-wing bias, but hopefully, they know something that we don’t. That the next Conservative government will definatley be closing them down and they are shiiting themselves at their certain demise as an organisation.

yes –did notice the pro Brown comments from the Beeb –not suprizing that given the opportunity Aunty BBC is giving the best possible spin to Brown —the 100 billion deficit in the economy is all forgotten –for now.
Brown will be exposed for the Stalinist control freak he really is in due course –but don’t rely on the pinko BBC media.

We all love Gordon now, apparently…
That section was like a parody of the BBC’s stinking bias toward new labour…
Anyone with half a brain can see this for what it is, complete desperation, and hopefully it will backfire on Gordon and the beeb, by getting people so angry that they are determined to vote him out in 2010…

durr.. newsnight tight now . it seems clear that treasury has messed up bank deal big time. failed to clarify if dividends will be paid or not.
this causes the huge pension income funds to dump bank shares. now broon/darling says banks did not “understand the deal”.
a switched on media would be destroying broon/darling right now for this utter mess up which has wiped billions off bank shares.

The other laughable ‘point’ they tried to make on this piece was to look at a modern ‘labour’s not working’ billboard and point out that the same message was used before Maggie got in, and it led to rising levels of unemployment… and thus, the point they were suggesting was that ‘things might be bad now, but Cameron would make them worse’… its a total joke! If/When the Conservatives get back in, I hope we clobber the beeb/and or break it up.

I think la Maitliss deserves an award for what was probably the most stupid, ill thought-out interview this year, with the French finance minister, on Newsnight a few minutes ago.
She seemed, throughout, to be pumping the ‘McBean is a colossus striding across the EU’ meme,to the obvious amusement of the French minister.
Not a word about the reported comments from the Germans, who are claiming that McBean is about to take us into the EU, of course!

Yes, I caught that report. It was so bad I wondered if perhaps they were being ironic.
Note the euphoria on the BBC news on Monday and Tuesday as the stock market rose, with Gordon Brown’s great plan being responsible for snatching us back from the precipice. I thought at the time they were being premature in their celebrations.
Now the FTSE is almost back where it started the week, it’s not because his plan isn’t working. Oh no. It’s because traders fear a recession. Which is nothing to do with Gordon of course.

It’s already starting to backfire as nasty figures are made public and the great save with our money unravels and the markets fall back.
He peaked too early for Glenrothes as people all of a sudden ask themselves whether it was all sweetness and light prior to the credit crunch, and find it wasn’t.
Besides that, the voters are realising that the biggest problem was DEBT and how the Government were happy to encourage it. So what is Browns answer to this debt problem? STIMULATE THE BANKING AND BUILDING SECTOR INTO GIVING MORE DEBT!
He has been found out despite peoples fears this past week that he had gotten away with it.

Brown has got the whole country in a mess – but the BBC back him – come 2010 and a conservative government – the economy will be in tatters and guess who the BBC will blame?

They even got an Oirish hack to state that they’d vote in favour of Lisbon now…. so that’s that then. Who need plebicites or elections? Not us apparently – may vote the wrong way – can’t be having that.

“Brown’s sceptical of that isn’t he.” No the only thing Brown is sceptical of is democracy – if he didn’t have to have a referendum then he would sign tommorow. Anyway – he will probably not have to have a referendum when the Lisbon Treaty kicks in – the euro will be just forced upon us and Brown knows it.

Brown was never sceptical of the Euro. It was part of his strategy to undermine Blair and it suited him to appear sceptical.

New Labour cares about nothing but being in power– whether that means being in or out of the Euro or being friends or foes with the US–they are political prostitutes who have entranced many including Murdoch and the BBC, into believing that they can form a highly centralised controlling government that will never be removed.
If we want small government and to have individual rights we must oppose Brown –he will take over all our lives –helped by the media. Probably

Very interesting to hear that on Newsnight the French finance minister apparently debunked the idea of Brown being the brains behind the bank bailout, saying he was just the first to implement an agreed plan.

Yes, WWL, I did mean the Euro. Being out of the EU was Freudian typing.
Meanwhile, read and inwardly digest the following:
“Oct. 15 (Bloomberg) — Luxembourg Finance Minister Jean-Claude Juncker told German newspaper Rheinischer Merkur the U.K. will consider adopting the euro once the credit crisis abates. “The British prime minister had to beg to be let into the room in which the euro group was meeting,” Juncker told the newspaper in an interview published today. “I’m sure that when the storm is over, the British will think about whether they shouldn’t become an equal in all decision-making bodies.””
No less an organ of idiocy than the New Statesman is speculating that McBean is about to couple us to the Oblivion Express, that is the Euro.

I’ve been keeping an eye on the BBCi main site for the last few days. When FTSE was doing well the loverly green text appeared all the time. Now share prices have taken a dive the beeb seems to have hidden the market data on a back page.
Oh well. Maybe if they go up a little bit tomorrow we’ll see the table back on the front site?

The BBC must have been stung by accusations of gross partisan bias in their US election coverage, they are now advertising it as ‘impartial’ Ha, yeah right! If they are so impartial then why are the BBC planning Obama victory parties eh?
A very interesting event during the news on BBC-W, the presenter mentioned the 7% FTSE drop BUT then went on to read what looked like a hastily prepared and delivered statement that she had clearly just been given to read out, according to the bit of paper that she was stumbling over the drop was caused by bad American economic data and the FTSE was doing well before the data came out! Thats odd because the FTSE was clearly falling before any US data came out and the UK employment rise came out at roughly the same time as a steep fall in the FTSE!
It was almost as if she had been given a peice of paper by some on site socialist censor to make sure everyone was made fully aware that it wasnt Browns mad gamble that was failing but it was as usual the Americans fault!

I’m not sure it’s getting more surreal at all. The most surreal thing about the BBC is that it still thinks it should carry on with government guaranteed cash just like it did in 1926.
If you want surreal just try to imagine what Reith would have made of Dale Winton’s Hole in the Wall.

Gordon Browns desperate, ill thought out,ill conceived, ignorant, short termist and dangerous attempt to reinflate the ruinous inflation bubble that caused the coming disaster in the first place has failed miserably!
The FTSE has dropped like a stone AGAIN and there is no money left to stabilize the fall!
Everything, every reserve has been flung into the fray without thought to its probable failure, Browns ‘battle of the bulge’ has left the UK without any defence lines in reserve, we are now open to the bitter winds blowing through the economy!
Gordon Brown pranced and preened, grinned and giggled, he puffed himself up and his media allies inflated his ego by their utterly shameless promotion of his imaginary skills!
Please watch the media output with extra care and dilligence now and you will find rare insights into the vested interests that pervert the MSM, now is the time for the curtain to be pulled back to see the supposed gialnt for the midget he truly is!
For the record FWIW I am not a Tory, a socialist,a liberal or in fact a supporter of any political machine, I dislike them all with almost equal disdain!
Political machinations got us into this dire mess and they are all as bad as each other BUT its the socialists in power NOW, when the Tories get in I will be just as critical of them and their vested interests BUT the fact remains that to critisise a party that has absolutely no bearing or say on current events would be a waste of time.
The above was a disclaimer in case of trolls smearing me as a Tory.
Goodnight and good luck, cos we gonna all need it folks!

Please dont presume that the spiv Cameron or any other politician can do differently in Britain. As EU Referendum points out, Brown reported to the EU and has not reported to Parliament, unlike the USA where the elected representatives of Congress were part of the decision process.
So even if the Tories/ LabourLite get in, can they disband the BBC unless the EU allows it ? Dont forget what a freind the BBC has been in the past to the EU (and a reciever of its funds).

I notice that on BBC News 24 the BBC claimed that the Tokyo stock market had fallen because the US bail out plan (which of course the Americans have now copied the snot eaters great idea) isn’t good enough.
Blame anyone but McBogey I guess.
And again Robert Peston claimed that the Lloyds TSB HBoS merger was still on even though Sky said they were having second thoughts.
Funny that Broon was being bigged up by the BBC for this merge, but now it’s going south his name is no where near it.
From the 17th September
“…The deal was negotiated at the very highest level, with Prime Minister Gordon Brown telling Lloyds TSB chairman Sir Victor Blank that it would be helpful if Lloyds could end the uncertainty surrounding HBOS by buying it…”

Cockney,
I am a humble nobody at the lower end of the shallow end of nowhere, WTF would you want to know what I would have done?
OK, I would have not got into the mess in the first place by enforcing the proper cyclic constraints/safety valves which Brown disabled to gain more short term power from the eonomy which caused it to overheat in the first place!
Given that somehow I did make the very same dozens of ridiculous and reckless decissions that Brown made, what would I do? shoot myself in the f****g head perhaps?
Seriously? I would allow a natural market correction while saving as much cash as possible to help with the crash, I would enforce a blanket ban on the ‘something for nothing’ benefit system making it a precondition that claiments do civil works, I would ban foreigners from council housing or indeed ANY social benefit and those that couldnt look after themselves would be kicked out, I would halt all foreign aid and redirect it to our own people, I would reduce ALL taxes to a blanket 10% for EVERY tax with no evasion and no exeptions, I would deport all foreign criminals and their families where they are proved to be complicit, I would introduce a colour blind approach to government, no racist and partisan groups would be allowed in the UK that would apply just as much to gangs like the MBPA as it would to the BNP, I would carry out a rigorous check of all charities and those which do not give 90% of their income to the objective of that charity would be either closed down or forced to opperate as a normal company under normal 10% tax rules, I would make it law that EVERY decission a government makes or takes would have to have the benefit of the UK put FIRST and I mean EVERY decission, I would leave the EU at once and UK law prior to all the treasonous changes would be reinstated at once, and seek to join NAFTA and reinstate all the historic links with our empire family, I would open ALL the secret files and prosecute ANYONE who was shown to have acted unlawfully whoever they were and whatever position they hold, right or left and I would reinstate the death penalty for treason, I would deport all Islamic radicals and their entire families and only allow thos who give written promises of good conduct and also give NO HAVEN for terorrists, I would withdraw all our troops home with imediate effect, I would set up an Army unit tasked with tracking down and killing all terrorists who harm UK people anywhere in the world.
The above is only common sense isnt it? If these measures were enacted perhaps we might ride out the crises and come out stronger.

Yes, I’m not aware of any EU law determining the provision or otherwise of a national broadcaster so the BBC can be disbanded at the UK government’s discretion.

Yeah. I heard a rumour that in each BBC studio, they have a little desk in the corner with a small portrait of The Glorious Leader above it, a red rotary phone on it which has a direct line to No. 10, and a guy dressed in a Department for Agitation and Propaganda uniform, who hands tractor production and chocolate ration figures, and other important information to the news monkey as and when it’s needed to offset potentially counter-revolutionary news.
That’s probably what’s happening when the Beeboid says, ‘We’re just getting some unconfirmed reports from the AP news wire…’ or something along those lines. They look nervous because they’ve got a locked and loaded rifle pointed at their heads from off-camera.
One good thing about this current economic crisis is that it’ll be harder for Brown and his anti-British cabal to force us, without any say-so, to adopt the Euro. If, like now, times are hard, the chances of him doing it without him getting dragged out of his office and having his naturally expressionless face ripped off, are much, much less.
Roll on 2010.

Terry Smith and Ian Morley had an interesting discussion on Today this morning. For once Humphrys shut up and let them talk. Conclusions:
1. The banking system is (more or less) safe
2. The original collapse in stock markets had nothing to do with short selling (and there is no evidence to contradict this): it was largely the consequence of the crisis of confidence in the banks.
3. (In the light of 1. above) the current collapse in stock markets is now all to do with the up-coming recession
4. The original and current stock market collapses are due to dumping of stocks by the insurance companies, pension funds etc (ie the big holders of shares).
So 1. might be a result of Gordo’s “unique” genius (which I doubt) but anyone in office would have thrown everything at the systemic banking crisis. However, as far as the UK is concerned 3. is down largely to Gordo.
It’s ridiculous to say that it’s all Brown’s fault. It’s even more ridiculous to say none of it is Brown’s fault. He bears an enormous responsibility for both getting us into this mess and the inordinate borrowing (ie the bail-out on top of the existing over-borrowing in the economy) which will taint this country for a generation.

Not so fast Cockney. The EU may not have a specific law that guarantees the excistence of the BBC, but the BBC and our senior civil servants, plus some pressure groups, could use another part of EU law to stop it being broken up, abolished or taken off the telly taxpayers money.

I do wonder if some of the Beeboids are not exactly in favour of the Brownies and are now punishing those in the Beebs management pro-Labour propaganda machine. Certainly some of the recent Labour puff-comments have sounded like pure parody. Could be two fingers up to Alistair Cambell without actually sticking it to Labour.
Anyway, who cares. Labour is toast and the BBC with it.

No, that’s just Robert Peston’s office. Someone from the DAP runs a new economic policy by him, he informs them how the BBC will cover it, and then the news happens from there. Everyone else just gets the DAP memo read out at editorial meetings.

which part though? admittedly my expertise on eu law stops at the tax cases but it’s a body of legislation and direction not an all encompassing excuse to ruthlessly suppress every aspect of our lives, irrespective of what some appear to think 🙂
If there’s no rules relating to state media civil servants can’t just make them up…

It was almost as if she had been given a peice of paper by some on site socialist censor…
A few years back, I was on holiday with an impeccably liberal couple who were (and are) friends of mine. At the time, she was a Today programme producer and he was a print journalist somewhere (he’s now very senior on a major national newspaper).
We got to talking about how the Today programme decided what line to take on the stories of the day.
She said (unsurprisingly) that what they did was, they sat around a table and decided what the line was. Then they went out and found experts to ‘stand it up’.
It seemed obvious to me that if the people sitting around the table were birds of a political feather, this would lead to bias. How could it not?
Since the people working for the BBC are almost all ‘institutionally’ left-liberal, to borrow and adapt a phrase, they thus tend to take left-liberal standpoints on issues. It’s no real surprise.
However, this conclusion was greeted with amazement by my friends, and I think that this demonstrates the real problem: many BBC journalists don’t understand the concept of bias, because they don’t hear or read or consider many other points of view than the corporate BBC approach in their daily working lives.
I have to admit, I can’t see any real way around the issue of editorial bias generally (though, in the case of the BBC, a start might be made if they advertised 50% of their jobs in the Daily Telegraph or The Spectator).
I can’t see that carefully-balanced editorial committees, made up of equal numbers of self-declared right-wing, left-wing and centrist journalists deciding together on the line to take, are the answer.
Personally, while I do believe that the BBC is biased, it’s not that which concerns me; it’s the fact that I have to assist in paying for it.
It would be far better to set them free of the burden of state funding and allow them to compete in a deregulated broadcast market against others of all political persuasions.

Dan:
Did the “impeccably liberal couple” (love the phrase) whom you met on holiday tell you that most of the ideas for the Today programme (and TV current affairs shows) are gleaned from the newspapers?
Only the most senior Beeboids get their ideas on air without being first sanctified in the daily press.
Old BBC joke:
Q. How do I get my scoop taken seriously?
A. Leak it to the Guardian.
“The BBC – Yesterday’s news today”.

Then they went out and found experts to ‘stand it up’.
I and colleagues of mine have been contacted on several occasions by BBC researchers to provide expert scientific input to programmes like Today and Horizon. Unless your opinion agrees with that of the researcher they don’t call back. In other words they are not interested in a scientific opinion, merely corroborative evidence to support the ‘line’ already agreed upon. (don’t bother me with the facts, my mind is already made up).
Matthew Paris wrote a brilliant op-ed piece in the Spectator years ago which I used to carry around with me. I will try to track it down.
