The Beeb goes to the polls

So this is it. We’ll soon know whether all the work; all the campaigning; all the speeches; all the infomercials have paid off: Have Webb, Frei and the rest of the Beeb done enough to get their man elected? It’s a big night for students of BBC bias, too. If Obama wins as expected will they be able to hide their glee? If there’s an upset and he loses, will there be tears? There’s 175 BBC staff over there, so too much to cover. Over to you, then…

On the R5L website there’s a video of Richard Bacon saying his feeling of excitement ahead of the Chicago rally tonight is the same feeling he used to have as a kid the day before the funfair at Whitby Regatta.

I bet it doesn’t match the excitement he felt when he’d just visited his drug dealer and scored himself a wrap of coke.

I think people are getting a bit carried away.

Bill Kristol had some wise words when he appeared on the Jon Stewart show the other day:

“It’s an election, not a psychodrama. If you’re liberal vote for Obama; if you’re conservative, vote for McCain. Simple as that.”

What do we think bias on the bbc would look like over the next day?

If BO wins (and that seems very very likely), you can expect lots of gushing. But then it will be an amazing moment and i think a bit of gush will be both legit and universal across the British media.

If though i heard something like “the world breathes a sigh of relief”, then i would concede this was beyond the pale.

My guess is though the bbc’s coverage of the election will only differ from Sky and itn insofar as it will be of higher quality. Otherwise, I would expect the tenor to be very similar.

David – you’ve posted lots of conspiracy stuff, said “why doesn’t the bbc report this”, and concluded bias by the fact that it hasn’t. I have used various bits of countervailing evidence, where i’ve come across it.

Now you’re just lying. I’ve posted many items about The Obamessiah’s past, his proven connections to various unpleasant characters, and his policy statements on the campaign trail, including video clips and text. No conspiracy stuff. The man’s own words, and the facts about his supporters. The BBC hides certain things about him, and then tells you he’s something else. You’re lying about what we’re doing here. I don’t believe that you’re just not intelligent enough to follow along. I believe instead that you’re deliberately ignoring all of it, determined to make your case regardless of all the evidence on the other side.

The BBC called all the debates for McCain if memory serves (certainly two of the three) despite the subsequent polls suggesting this wasn’t the case. Bias looks like Fox or MSNBC, not the BBC’s coverage, which across the piece, and despite that fact that most in the UK want Barry O, seems fairly balanced to me.

Bias also looks like the BBC. The BBC has not been fair at all. Fox has not personally insulted either The Obamessiah or his running mate. More than one Beeboid has made personal, insulting remarks about both Republicans on air.

I’m sorry i have found what’s posted up here less than compelling (mostly). The effect has been lessened by the kind of yahooery we saw the other night on here with BettyA and Archduke discussing how dangerous BO would be. Really stupid stuff. Made Melanie Phillips look sane. And detracts from the case.

You’re in denial, and bringing up Melanie Phillips doesn’t support your case. During your entire presence here, you haven’t actually debated a single one of our claims – all backed up with his own words – of The Obamessiah’s unpleasant (in our opinion) politics, or given any “counterfactual” evidence. All you’ve done is say that you think both he and McCain will make fine Presidents, and that, gosh, The Obamessiah wouldn’t be all that bad, really.

Denial, denial, dancing, and denial. Counterfactual? No, more like contrarian. Why not just call me a racist and be done with it?

David – 99% of your links are to right wing yahoo sites, like Gateway pundit. Very little of the smear stuff has been taken up by any serious media organisation, the bbc included; although the bbc through Webb largely has posted to pajamas media and i think gateway pundit, malkin, drudge and a few others. It’s just partisan smear stuff. And it looks as if the US electorate, to its credit, will consider it bollocks too.
I don’t think you’re remotely racist. I do think mccain would have been a good president. And i think Barry O will be a decent president who will govern from the centre.

Assuming that Obama wins, we can probably now enjoy a brief desisting from anti-americanism from the Beeboids and the Left in general, between the moment when they no longer have Bush to whine about, and the moment when they realise that all the problems – the economy, the worldwide Jihad, the russian autocracy, etc – are still there and they decide it’s because Obama isn’t left-wing enough.

    CROWN HIM LORD OF ALL!

“Personality cults sometimes form in power-hungry regimes, such as Stalinist Russia or Mao’s China. Through extensive government-led propaganda campaigns, the leader is elevated to an almost divine level. He is venerated as a liberator and a savior in the war against good and evil. He wins the blind adulation of an effectively brainwashed public. And he is neither questioned nor held accountable.”

Written about Obama in 2008? Nope. Written about George W Bush in 2005 by blogger Mary Shaw, a Philadelphia-based writer, editor, and communications consultant.

“The person who is in charge of the country… is the key figure in the political process and all political processes are going through them. Their rule is the key element to development and change.”

Written about Obama in 2008? Nope. Written about President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan by Natalia Antelava, Central Asia correspondent, BBC News

“The political dregs that identify as socialist fight like rats in a sack. We’ve given up on the ingenuity of the human mind and retreated into mysticism while the social and cultural superstructure collapses into the base like the melting tiers of a soggy wedding cake.”

Nonsense. 99%? You’re just saying whatever you like, assuming that nobody here will remember. I generally post links to actual news sites. Even so, regardless of the partisanship of whatever site I link to, the videos are The Obamessiah’s own words. You simply cannot dismiss his own speeches just because of where the video is posted. But that’s what you’re trying to do now. Maybe others here will fall for your game, but I won’t.

I guess you just don’t believe the man’s own words.

News at 6 just now was the predictable BBC Obama Lovefest.

In a classic “pass the sick bag” moment, Huw Edwards “interviewed” Justin Webb who was almost gigglingly displaying his sickly grin whenever Edwards mentioned the “O” word.

However, my nausea soon turned to hilarity when, with typical BBC lack of professionalism, Webb was captioned as “Matthew Price, North America Correspondent “, later replaced with “Justin Webb, North America Editor “. What on earth does he edit ? I thought Canada is part of N. America but don’t recall much coverage of the elections there. Wonder why that was ? Ah yes, of course, the Conservatives won.

Next gaffe was when Edwards asked Webb about Obama playing “baseball”, which Webb quicky corrected to “basketball” !

I lost count of the number of times the phrase “America’s first black President” was used throughout the broadcast, just in case we haven’t got the message yet.

The BBC asked a total of 4 voters on the street which way they were voting. Guess what ? 3 for Obama, 1 for McCain. BBC bias, that is what they do.

However if Obama supporters generally think the coverage has been fair, rather than biased towards McCain, while McCain supporters think it has been biased towards Obama, that in itself is revealing.

Yes it is revealing, but not of much.

The media has been instructed to return a sun tanned Democrat this year. It matters not much how exactly this is done or the precise manner by which the objective is reached.

We all know professional boxing and horse racing results for example, are often fixed. Of course fixing a race has to be done in secret and also look credible. There is no point for example allowing the odds to become farcical. The ordinary punters would stop betting/voting or all bet on/fear like hell, the favorite.

Obama was literally bred to be the future 2008 American president with a credible sun tan. So credible in fact he actually has the nerve to pass himself off as an ordinary black person. Which he is not, and never was going to be either. Obama is a product of the establishment working wholly for the interests of the establishment. As all American presidents have done, OR THEY GET DONE, as we should surly know by now.

Obama is directly related to British ROYAL bloodlines, as is George Bush, and virtually every other American president since George Washington.

If you just think this is simply because British Royalty in particular are genetically very smart, and the combined efforts of the media have had nothing to do with this FACT for the last 250 years. You must really believe that the world is a very strange place indeed. Coincidences like this do not just happen, THEY ARE MADE TO HAPPEN.

I want Obama to win. I think the Republicans of the last few years have been corupt and incompetent. No matter how much better the world is without Saddam – not to mention the people who suffered under him – they still concocted a bunch of lies to get us to go to war (please don’t give me a link stating why Iraq is a good thing; my point is, they LIED to get us there).

HOWEVER, despite my desire to see someone in power who isn’t a Bush clone with a creationist gun-toting nut-job as his deputy (and substitute should he die or be unable to carry out his duties, become president), I do 100% agree that the BBC along with the rest of the mainstream media has been sucking up to Obama since he first came to prominence. If the Beeb’s job is to reflect public opinion, it has succeeded. But it the Beeb’s job is to report objectively (which is exactly what it’s supposed to do) it has failed miserably.

BTW, the BBC are not allowed to buy champagne on expenses any more… can’t find the link but it was announced last month — if anyone has evidence of this happening after the expected Obama victory, please let the Daily Mail know. From the BBC’s live text commentary on the election:

1905 The BBC’s Peter Bowes in Los Angeles says: I became a US citizen earlier this year and have just been to vote in my first American election. It was a breeze – no queue at the polling place (at a trailer park in a rural suburb of Los Angeles) and a paper punch-hole ballot. It took about five minutes to work through all the candidates and propositions. Everyone was cheerful and excited at the polling station. And I’ve got my “I Voted” sticker, to prove it.

Which way do you suppose Bowes voted? Here’s a clue from his blog:
I did it! No queue and a paper punch hole ballot. All very easy.
    It’s time for change

(He also has his own website:
Peter’s special interests include the issues surrounding human longevity, climate change and renewable energy.
    There’s a surprise.)

This could be the begining of the end for modern socialism as we know it!

    Hurrah for Obama!!!

Modern socialism as its forerunner socialism, is not going to end, because it never really began ANYWHERE. What we have had for a very long time and what we are going to more obviously have in the future is corporate FASCISM.

A type of corporate fascism that no longer is interested in pretending there is actually such a thing as a free liberal democracy.

The mob never have ruled unless our establishment have allowed them to, and only because they are following the correct and current establishment agenda. Gordon Brown I would guess is scoring about 9/10 at this moment, from them and about a 2/10 from us. However it would not stop the powers that be, ditching GB for a second, when the plan finally needs to moved on.

The ruling class would never have trusted THEIR PLANETS destiny to the likes of your average East Enders fanatic. Unless they first controlled the policies and agendas of both sides of the political spectrum. A deliberately divisive spectrum, that they also daily define and long since invented.

The BBC plays a major part in the defining of the political divide, as does the highest ends of the educational establishment, for example Oxford and Cambridge universities.

The establishment effectively control the ‘important’ agendas of our top universities and therefore teacher training, via tax free so called ‘charitable’ foundations.

Most but not all of this highly generous political funding gos to VERY radical left wing organizations. This is done because a radically changing largely dis functional society is easier to con, exploit, impoverish, tax, rule over, and if the idiots start breeding to much, decimate or worse.

Therefore for better or worse, whether you like it or not, YOU ARE MIND CONTROLLED. You only think you have a mind of your own and even more stupidly, you still believe you live in a free truly democratic country. When the REALITY is you largely only think, say or do what they want or currently allow you to. While this country is just as Imperialist as it ever was and run by very much the same types of people it always was run by.

Therefore when or if they should chose to murder you or your family, they will do so. In the full and totally safe knowledge that they will get away with absolutely anything. Largely because they are now, and had done in the past, and no one is saying or doing anything about it. Especially on the BBC. Which is the biggest clue of all.
