Have you been joining in the BBC celebrations as Gitmo Jihadist Binyam Mohamed touches back down on home soil? Not HIS home soil, of course, after all Ethiopiais a lot further to travel, but you get the general idea. I was listening to Peter Allen discussing this on Radio Five this evening and was amazed at his insistence that Binyam (as his lawyer would insist) was an innocent abroad and – get this – his travelling to Afghanistan to seek help for his ..ahem…”drug issues” was perhaps quite innocent given that the Taliban were in charge back then and would have frowned upon any drug taking. Do you think Peter might be missing a few points re the Taliban? It’s quite stunning how each time Gitmo spews forth one of these pseudo Brits like Binyam and Moazzem the BBC turns them into cause celebres. I bet the Jihadi can’t believe their luck when the left wing dhimmified media, best exemplified by Al Beeb, roll out the red carpet for them.

I thought a head of state had arrived.
Then again,a head of state might be slightly better treated than a bogus fraudster asylum seeker, but at least he goes home.

Yes – just slightly biassed! But, in fact, on this occasion Sky News was even worse. In desperation, I turned away from BBC News only to find that the “SkyCopter” was in the air tracking the approach and landing of the executive jet that brought this waste of space back to UK!

Denis,
True but at least we are not forced to fund Sky!

I heard him (or a translator) talk about medieval torture methods. He would know about that, wouldn’t he? Being a follower of a stone age “religion”, that is.

Where is this “home” and what`s been happening to it while he has been away ?

Why is this jihadist the top news story ?
To drown out the worries about the economy ?
In all of today’s coverage – has ANYONE spelled out the rap sheet the US authorities had on the jihadist ? The BBC keeps suggesting that charges were “dropped” – as far as I know there have been various procedural rulings in the US that preveted the case being brought, but it would be a total lie to suggest that the US authorities did not believe in their case against the man, did not believe that he was a real danger, that he was up to his neck in planning and intending terrorism.
The BBC seems to be engaged a big whitewash exercise. Holding the creep out as some sort of total victim of the evil Western powers.
Problem is – there seems to be no-one in Parliament insisting that Ministers put public safety first.

Both entirely true.
Nor is the media doing its job of holding this vile excuse for humanity to account.

Is there any reason why this person can not be sent to his home, Abyssinia (or Ethiopia if you insist)?
And just why is it the most important piece of news on the BBC? Has the Liberal Elite and its mouthpiece, the BBC, ever thought that their glorification of worshippers of the Meccan moon god might just be radicalising the non-Mahometan population?

I think the US should charge the guy for the cost of his drug rehab…

Whilst I agree that the coverage has been dodgy, and yes there is a strong chance that this guy was involved in planning something, there is a very curious question here which has not been answered; why were the charges against him dropped? Pressumably it was the Americans who were preparing charges (based partly on the MI5 evidence), so if it seems clear that he was guilty, why were the charges then dropped?

Because he betrayed his compatriots and gave the Americans information?
Perhaps that is why so many AQ and Taleban have been getting their quota of virgins early?

I think the effort involved in convicting some of theses people outweighs the embarrasment of the uncovering of the nature of extraordinary rendition and the CIAs alleged torture techniques.
They are probably small fish who will be stepped on hard if they get out of line..
Or else there has been a huge cockup.
Up to you

Gus Haynes: The charges were probably dropped due to the mess the US got themselves into.
People forget that after 9/11 the priority of the USA was to round up people they thought might be out to do them harm. US intelligence failed so badly they just didn’t know what might be coming next.

The case was not pursued because of procedural rulings in the US courts, which required the US authorities to withdraw cases then in prospect.
Nowhere has there been any sign that the US authorities did not believe that the man was a terrorist. And he himself made statements about his activities when he was not under any duress.

BBC has been very bad on this, but ITV has been even worse – tabloid TV at its worst.
My only consolation is my belief (self-deception?) that the public holds TV ‘journalists’ in deep contempt.

Compare his VIP treatment with the treatment of Geert Wilders.
I imagine the muslims must be even more puzzled by modern British politics than R.Mugabe is.
On daytime news they said ‘he will have an interesting story to tell’ I don’t think so.
Our soldiers might though. Why not tell theirs?

On the bright side when they catch this bearded scum now, they will simply extract what they can and then kill them. That HAS to be good news.

Geert Wilders was on the Glenn Beck programme earlier and spoke the truth about Europe needing something like the First Amendment. I doubt we’ll get it and if we do it will probably only apply to jihadis, socialist, marxists, liberals and Al Beeb journos.

Martin is right, in future the US will not be taking any prisoners.
The USA has tried the humanitarian approach and it has done them no good.

Why is the government welcoming someone with a class A drug habit? Is Binyam Mohamed going to be prescribed Methodone on the NHS?
Will there be back taxes for him to pay on the unearned income from letting his housing association home?

Which shows more backbone than the entire Tory party on this issue of free speech.

Ever thought that there might be more to the Binyam Mohamed business than meets the eye.Think a bout it,this could be a career breaker for David Milliband. Now who would want to scupper the Boy Gollum’s chances for the leadership of the Labour party.Who has the muscle to turn this into a three ringed circus? The BBC,RAF Northolt nearly every newspaper, who has that kind of influence?
Incidentally, who knifed Jacqui Smith in the back. The contenders are dropping like ninepines.

That’s not stalking – it’s calling MWL for what he is – a troll.
Like so many BBC apologists before him, he ducks and runs whenever there is incontrovertible evidence of BBC bias, emerging a while later, pretending nothing has happened, making bland assertions that everything is wonderful in White City and we are all crazy for daring to suggest otherwise.

And Fox News had an interview with Wilders, letting him state at least part of his case.
is it beyond the ability of the BBC to get a current interview with Wilders ? If they can send hundreds of people to the Olympics, can’t they afford a Eurostar fare or a RyanAir ticket to go see him ?

“So Britain is to get the destiny she deserves, Lenin is to have his day. The state is God. Multiculturalism and political correctness became the new faith and morality for Britain round about the time the nation realised it had lost God in the mud somewhere between the guilt of Passchendaele and the Anglican Lambeth Conferences. And to justify all of the upheaval and the misery and the treason and the lying, the woman in the street and the man on the Clapham omnibus were told the ultimate fib that all this change in Britain was necessary because there were serious things wrong with their country.
But there weren’t.”

From JohnAs link above.
“Tory MP David Davies said: “I don’t think it should be a source of pleasure to anyone that this man has returned to the UK. He is an Ethiopian national who was lucky ever to be in Britain in the first place. If he was flown back to Addis Ababa, I think we would all breathe a sigh of relief.”
Fellow Tory MP Philip Davies said: “It’s absolutely ludicrous. This guy isn’t a British citizen, he just happened to be residing in Britain. I cannot see any advantage to the British taxpayer in him coming here. The likelihood is that he will be on benefits and we will be forking out for him while the country is going bankrupt.
“And is he a danger to public safety? Will the Government be putting him under 24-hour monitoring by the security services with the extra strain that on taxpayers’ money? It is an astonishing decision.”
So it seems that not all “Tories” are like Hauge.

From the article,
“Mohamed’s journey to Britain from the Guantanamo Bay prison complex in Cuba was in the lap of luxury. The Gulfstream jets, normally hired by business executives and stars, boast gourmet meals and “premium beverages”. According to US officials, the Gulfstream was hired by the charter firm Prime Jet. The company’s website boasts: “The moment you walk into our pristine cabin, you are transported into a world of unparalleled luxury.
“Our spacious six-foot-three cabin makes you feel like you are relaxing in our own private hotel suite.”
£120,000 to get the Ethiopian Binyam Mohamad back in time to sign on for his giro.
Anybody here fly by Gulfstream?

No, I can’t imagine mikewhineliberal using rent boys. Far too obvious. I’d suspect he would rather choose the popular cottaging haunts around White City, as used by most of the Beeboids.

Or Cameron or the rest of the Shadow Cabinet. The bottom line is that any ‘Conservatives’ who disagree with the multi-culti project are marginalised by Cameron and his coterie. That is how PC infiltration works and that is why the Church, police, local authorities, schools, political parties etc are as anti-British as they are now.
There is only one Opposition party, and it’s not the Cons.

your comment reminded me of this article from eu referendum.
http://eureferendum.blogspot.com/2009/02/bring-out-your-unrest.html
And, although there has been nothing in the headlines recently about Greece, the unrest there has not gone away. It seems to be entering a new dimension with the emergence of a “guerrilla group” called Rebels Sect.
It has been taking pot-shots at a local TV station, its second attack in less than a month. The group says that is had specifically targeted journalists because they represented a corrupt establishment and warned them that worse attacks would follow. “By attacking the channel, we are sending an ultimatum to all journalists,” it says.
