My but hasn’t Ed Stourton been a busy chap. One moment he is the “new Belfast” interviewing those too young to remember IRA terrorism about ..erm…their memories of IRA terrorism. Then he travels to Londonderry – to the Bogside no less – to check out if republicans still support IRA/Sinn Fein. (Seems they do but other seem very unhappy about condemning the murder of British soldiers, nothing changes). The BBC is in full spin cycle here – it is retailing the government line that we live in a brave new world and we must close our eyes and just get on with the almighty “peace process.” Time to forget all about those THOUSANDS of victims of IRA savagery, the BBC mimics the government line that if you want peace you forfeit justice. It would be great if the BBC allowed time for those who oppose all of this nauseating appeasement but I am afraid that just will not happen. The State broadcaster is a participant in the political process.

Bit unfair that – perhaps “terrorists” rather than “terrorism” would be more accurate. Also it depends on the “terrorists” in question. Any terrorist not routinely described as such by the BBC is manifestly on the “most favoured terrorist” list so you can include anyone from Hamas, Hizbollah, the Bombay gang, anyone imprisoned in Gitmo, any suicide bomber in Iraq (is there a pattern emerging here?) – but you get the picture. BTW the BBC is not coy about depicting this lot as terrorists.

I would’ve thought that the makeup of the Republican side of the NI Assembly tells you that most of the Catholic community “supports” Sinn Fein (or at least prefers it to the alternatives). You don’t need to ponce around the Bogside to prove that.

Ed “Other Projects” Stourton won’t be replaced by North America Propaganda Editor Justin Webb until September. After that, according to Jay Hunt, he will be engaged in “other projects” (which Stourton wasn’t told about). Maybe he’ll be working with Carol Thatcher.
Much simpler, the “bbc” hates England, it loves terrorists, murderous dictators and the like. Binman is right up their street, sorry wrong spelling, should of course be a**se.

still impressed with the British Governments pursuit of the Omagh bombers compared with the Bloody Sunday enquiry. Probably hope we will forget the murdering scum if they don’t mention them.
The problem with BBC news on Ulster affairs is exactly the same as its problem on other matters.
The corporation is not content to report news. It wants to add the ‘analysis’ of which it is so proud.
Most of us can do without ‘analyis’ from out of touch, affluent, ‘liberal’ metropolitan types.

You’ve hit the nail on the head there – its all BBC “analysis” – why can’t they just get two people from either side of the argument and a facilitor (mainly non-speaking) and take it from there. But then this would not fit the BBC agenda would it.?
Hey you think the British media is bad, a lot of the American tv stations do not know the first thing about Northern Ireland. I have to put up with politicians telling us all how important the Irish fight for independence is, and how it’s all the British government’s fault. Ted Kennedy honors an IRA soldier, and we’re told hes some ‘freedom fighter’. Thank god for the internet – relying on the mainstream media tells you everything but the truth.

I took my youngets daughter to NYC in early 2002, out of respect to the city, when Guiliani was asking for tourists to return. All was fine – except in one Irish bar where we were abused by some young punks who did not have the faintest clue about the reality of Northern Ireland – or Eire either. All fed on propaganda.
