I am so acclimatised to the air-brushing from the original I/P peace plan of any requirements from the Arabs that I can’t tell if one report is any more biased than another.
Reports and analyses of Obama’s speech conclude that this ‘reaching out to the Muslim World’ malarky that everyone is so delighted with, must mean Israeli settlements are now officially the only obstacle to peace.
Although President Obama didn’t exactly say that, his speech was sufficiently imprecise for the press to take away whatever interpretation they wanted.
I don’t know if the BBC has been any more biased on this subject than any other organ of news, but no-one can accuse President Obama of not honouring one of his pre-election pledges. From a starting point of evasiveness over his Muslim origins, to full-blown ‘call me Hussein’ identification with them, he’s certainly found a neat way to fulfill his promise of ‘Change.’
Now Obama is officially a Muslim, and The World is known as The Mussslim World.
(In other words it has simply caught up with the BBC. They knew that all along.) Relax BBC. You’re not biased any longer. Salaam alaikum !
While dhimmi BBC applauds fellow dhimmi Obama,
'Jihadwatch' has:
Hugh Fitzgerald to Barack Hussein Obama:
"Fitzgerald: Obama's Cairo Nonsense" (June 4).
[Extract]:
"Read, Obama. Read. Don't, as The Times says you did, take tuition on Islam from Muslims who 'head corporations' or from Dalia Mogahed or from John Esposito. Start with John Quincy Adams and Tocqueville. Start as well by reading 'The Dhimmi' by Bat Ye'or. Then have in, for discussions, Ibn Warraq and Ayaan Hirsi Ali and Wafa Sultan and Ali Sina. Don't let Dalia Mogahed, don't let Rahm Emanuel — sitting quite complacently and well-pleased, on a chair, akin to a little temporary thronelet, right there in Riyadh (not bad for a Chicago boy whose father was a Likud supporter, thinks Rahm Emanuel to himself — something to talk about at the next Seder) — get in the way. See them. Talk to them. Educate yourself. You have uttered a great deal of nonsense in Cairo. You must undo the damage."

Be careful what you say.
If Barak Hussein Obama is officially a Muslim then he is an apostate. The penalty for apostasy is death.

"Officially a Muslim"?
Give me strength.
"Although President Obama didn’t exactly say that, his speech was sufficiently imprecise for the press to take away whatever interpretation they wanted."
Or, in your case, not quite imprecise enough, so you're going to wilfully misinterpret it to suit your own aims. DV has taught his young apprentice well…

Err…this thread is a nonsensical rant. I may well disagree with Obama's approach, but calling him Muslim and then insulting him because he has the name Hussein is just utter tripe.
Call him Hussein? Well yes, that's his name.

Anonymous – yes, Hussein IS his name. However, when that salient fact was pointed out by Republicans during the US Presidential election campaign, the left wing Democrats went crazy, accusing them of scare-mongering and Islamophobia. As a result, the MSM who were well in the tank for The One. disappeared into its shell and his name "Hussein" was never uttered.
How convenient that The One now dusts it off to use in front of his Muslim friends.
Just more left wing hypocrisy at work.

To be fair, most of the nutjobs putting the emphasis on Obama's middle name during the election campaign were plainly trying to insinuate that (a) he was a Muslim despite all other evidence to the contrary, and therefore (b) he must be a terrorist.
People were against the use of his middle name to prop up invalid claims, rather than disputing that it was his middle name.

Funny I thought his name was Barry. Oh, sorry we aren't supposed to mention that are we.

Whatever, his name is, he is weak, stupid and dangerous. Just the man to be a hero for the morons at the BBC !

"…..trying to insinuate that (a) he was a Muslim despite all other evidence to the contrary, and…"
and he had to be 'corrected' by his interviewer during the election campaign as to not being muslim. To be fair to Pres. Obama, he is probably agnostic but to say that there was no evidence of muslim leanings is ridiculous, especially when his background in Indonesia is considered.

Can I just say something to you in private for a moment?
What I try to do is post something on the site to spark off a discussion. I sometimes attempt to make it humourous and /or provocative.
I could really picture your indignation when you penned:
“Or, in your case, not quite imprecise enough, so you're going to wilfully misinterpret it to suit your own aims.”
Willfully misinterpret! You made me smile Scott, even though I obviously didn’t make you.
Perhaps it was feeble, and perhaps it was unsuccessful, but it was my attempt at wit and humour by exaggeration. You know, a bit like Jeremy Clarkson and his amusing articles which make me smile even though I can’t stand him.
So Scott. even though I can’t make you smile, and I’m no Jeremy Clarkson, please can I ask you not to call me DV’s apprentice?

No, Obama is not Muslim.
He spent 20 years at a lunatic church in Chicago – until its preachers were exposed as nutters.
All his life Obama has chosen wierd mentors. Mostly anti-US – and anti-Israel.
Which is why he continues with his ridiculous guilt-trips.

I'm sure you could. You haven't, but you could.
"What I try to do is post something on the site to spark off a discussion. I sometimes attempt to make it humourous and /or provocative."
Perhaps you would do better to concentrate on working out what your point is first, and how to get that across effectively. At that point you can start introducing humour.
I don't doubt that you want to be provocative and the rest, but you could really do with some experience of working under an editor who can tighten your prose style up.
"I could really picture your indignation when you penned:"
Indignation? Guess again. Or, you know, don't guess at all and concentrate on facts. It'll make you stand out like a sore thumb on this site, but that wouldn't be such a bad thing, would it?

I dunno if a completely untrue accusation that Obama is biased because he "is a Muslim" can really be called "wit and humour by exaggeration". Presumably the tedious conspiracy theories (fuelling anti-semitism) that we're all suppressed by a shadowy Jewish cabal are also "wit and humour by exaggeration"?? If not then don't dish it out if you can't take it.
As far as the speech goes I was a bit nauseated by the love-in but then then talking about "unbrakeable bonds" with Israel didn't exactly suggest a hard line there either – how do you get any leverage on Isreali policy if your "bond" is "unbrakeable" in ALL circumstances??!!
I can sort of see the point in trying to be mates as a precurser to some serious peace efforts though- hell, everything else that "we've" tried since the mandate has failed miserably. the alternative is to stop chucking them all loans and aid and letting them get on with it…

What President Obama forgot to mention about Islam's renowned "tolerance" is that the hundreds of thousands of Christians that the Muslim world is slaughtering and persecuting have got it coming.
If we were as "tolerant" as Islam we would be mass-murderers. Instead we're just incredibly stupid.

I love reading Scott M's posts. It's good to know how riled a leftie gets by BBC bias being exposed!

Maybe you ought to read a bit more closely. I'm much more often riled by sloppy writing, presentation of personal opinion as indisputable fact, and arrogant people who try and take the moral high ground when their own ethical stance is far worse than anything they're trying to protest against.

“I dunno if a completely untrue accusation that Obama is biased because he "is a Muslim…….."
Cockney, your accusation is also completely untrue.
Where on earth did I say that?
You might have preferred if I had simply said I don’t trust president Obama to resolve the conflict in the Middle East and I don’t think reaching out to the Muslim World and trying to make them stop disliking America is the best tactic.
I pointed out that he went to great lengths to dissociate himself from his Muslim heritage in order to get himself elected, which contrasts sharply with his emphasis on his middle name etc., now that he wants to ingratiate himself with the Muslim World.
The media is full of admiration for him though, and I find that alarming.
The cabal stuff you brought in is usually made in a manner devoid of humour. But if it was in the form of a funny joke I would probably laugh.

Obama’s cultural relativism in the Egypt speech was manipulative and outrageous – particularly the part about the Palestinians ’suffering in pursuit of a homeland'; which he juxtaposed astoundingly with references to the Holocaust.
How dare he presume to compare the horrors of the Shoah with the mostly self-inflicted wounds of the Palestinian ’struggle’?
Meanwhile, the BBC continues to fawn and swoon with undisguised Obama-love, both in the text of their reports and the selection of pictures – seemingly relying on the keywords 'heroic' and 'messianic' as they browse their content management system.

dissociate himself from his Muslim heritage in order to get himself elected, which contrasts sharply with his emphasis on his middle name etc., now that he wants to ingratiate himself with the Muslim World.
I think the media and fellow travelers did far more to create that separation than the man did himself. Nobody from the non-Left was allowed to say "Hussein", yet He and His worshipers all kept saying that His name and mixed race would be the perfect face to reach out to that "Muslim World". The rumor mill among the less educated on the right about Him being a secret Muslim was extremely unhelpful, but it was more of a fringe thing than the public was led to believe.
The double standard was in the media and in Dem mouthpieces and far-Left activists and race-baiters. Anybody listening to Candidate Obamessiah wouldn't be the least bit surprised at yesterday's speech in which He wrapped himself in his Muslim heritage. This is the same guy who spent 20 years at a church in which they preached Israel and Jewish Lobby hatred. We just weren't allowed to complain about it, for fear of being called racist, or just an insane right-winger.
The media is full of admiration for him though, and I find that alarming.
That's the scary part, isn't it? Cult of Personality is never a good way to run a government.

The Obarmy speech was a nauseating cultural cringe to Islam, full of distortions and half truths. He did pay lip service to Israel's right to exist, of course, and criticise Palestinian homicide bombers and rocketeers but it was high equivocal. This part of his speech was met with silence!
Al- Beeb highlighted his pro Palestinian comments and his opposition to Israel's settlements at the start of last night's 6 o'clock news but not his criticism of the Palestinians.
All this on the day when news that the representatives of `The Religion of Peace' murdered the British hostage in Mali!

David H,
As with the Inauguration speech, the BBC wants to "give people an impression" to suit their agenda.
They're so sure they can do this with impunity that they're arrogant enough to do something like this:
Obama speech censored in China
Pretty nice, huh? Don't trust the BBC when they report anything to do with the US.
