Question Time 18th March

Question Time this week hails from Wythenshawe, Manchester, once the largest council estate in Europe and home to 1977 one-hit wonder punk rock band Ed Banger and the Nosebleeds.
The constituency of Wythenshawe and Sale East is represented by Labour MP Paul Goggins who has a majority of 10,827. Labour have polled over 50% of the vote here in the last three General Elections.

On the panel we have former foreign secretary Margaret Beckett, shadow Health Secretary Andrew Lansley, the unbeatable David Starkey, Charles *hic* Kennedy and Green Party eco-loon Caroline Lucas.

For those who wish to take part in the Biased-BBC Buzzword Bingo, we will be playing by the “Trolley Dolly Rules” meaning that anyone with “Labour“, “Unite” and “Money” on a line will win a fortnight camped in the Departure Lounge at Heathrow. Please note that for the duration of this game the No Smoking Light is OFF, complimentary alcohol and peanuts will be served by your B-BBC stewardesses and you may leave your seats at any time.

In the moderating control tower once again TheEye and David Mosque will be watching the radar screens, and we look forward to the pleasure of your company at 10:30pm UK time.

If it wasn’t for their token right of centre panelist, which we are granted once every few months or so, then I wouldn’t bother watching. But when Starkey the terminator of all things socialist is on, then I’ll be glued to the screen.

Will there be a studio audience? Wythenshawe after dark isn’t a nice place. The usual QT audience seems more of a leafy suburb, local government officer type bunch to me. The Volvo with its National Trust sticker won’t have any wheels by the end of the programme. And the prospect of actually meeting one of underclass which shares their love of Labour can’t be too appealing either.

Can I have an opinion on the Trolley Dolly rules? If ‘Whelan’ and ‘Insult’ come up, do I get an opt-out on the political levy?

There will be NO questions about the economy unless it’s to spin good news (that unemployment is falling – but no mention that employment isn’t rising either), Lord Ashcroft will get several mentions as will Thatcher.

40% of the population votes Tory, but the audience will be 90% Liebour

I’ll be curious to see the make-up of the audience: Wythy has been reportedly subject to bearing the kinds of facts on the ground that the elite’s social objectives necessitate

I have to admit to being somewhat taken aback at your reference to Messrs. Ed Banger and the Nosebleeds when referring to Wythenshawe – when anyone who is familiar with the many and diverse protagonists of the early Mancunian period three-chord thrash-punk genre would instinctively point to the oeuvre of their contemporaries, Slaughter And The Dogs, as perhaps better representing the essential cultural imperative of the movement đŸ˜›
