I enjoyed this headline from the BBC this morning…a Caledonian learning?
Can Conservatives learn how to negotiate a deal with Lib Dems from the Scottish experience? Liberal Democrats and Labour governed in Scottish coalition for two terms until 1997. Jack McConnell, former Labour First Minister, explains how it could work.
Anyone analysed how many seats would have been lost pandering to the ukip vote? I mean are we sure there would have been no fall out if the Tories had lent to the right instead of the left?
What is interesting though us;
1. Labours sudden interest in pr. I mean if they were really interested in electoral reform wouldn’t they have done something about pr in the 13 years they have been in power?
2. Only one person so far (that gove chap on the marr show yesterday) had pointed out that PR makes it near impossible to get rid of unpopular MPs.
Personally, evening out the electorates makes more sense to me.

Mailman, check this post on Laban’s site.

But aside from this, the breakdown of results shows a clear blue/red divide – the Conservatives won decisively in England. The issue of Scottish independence has become another defecating elephant in the room.

Was challenging. I helped bring down Peter Robinson, the key aim, but Party result profoundly disappointing and we need to think about the future. I am proud of our stand and am content we offered a decent alternative, but people here have become “nationalist” in mindset. (Both Orange and Green)

Better luck next time mate. Btw, I’ve locked horns a couple times with a girl called luciana Berger, newly elected labour mp up in Liverpool but to me, it’s MPs like her, 25 has never worked anywhere other than government socialist organisations for labour YET MPs like that, with no real or relevant life skills wants to dictate to you how you live!

No doubt the BBC’s Ms. Wark can have a friendly chat with her Labour chum, Mr. McConnell about this on ‘Newsnight’.
“Kirsty Wark and the bugged emails story you WON’T be hearing on Newsnight”

Laura Kuenssberg just now talking to an SNP guy who says screw democracy, Scotland didn’t want the Tories in charge. The UK has a parliamentary system, he said, so it’s reslly about what MPs want to do. As usual, that’s just fine with the BBC.

SCREW SCOTLAND — (no offence to my conservative Scots friends)…
But I’m sick of my country being controlled by Jock McCarpet-Baggers.

First it was Alex Salmond popping up everywhere on the TV immediately after the election pontificating about what should happen. Desperate to be on TV. Now he has piped down, it is Angus Robertson pontificating. Just SHUT UP once in a while, SNP. >:o
