Green Zone

Further to Robin Horbury’s comments about the BBC’s joy over Caroline Lucas winning her seat – here’s a wishful exchange from Friday morning’s post-election Today programme:

Listen!

Evan Davis: I love the idea that the first Green MP is possibly going to hold the balance of power in the House of Commons…

John Humphrys: Wonderful thought. Wonderful thought.

Evan Davis: … control the entire operation.

I can’t quite imagine them saying this if Farage had taken Buckingham. Or Griffin Dagenham.

I could have imagined the vast majority of the country saying something very different if Griffin had taken Dagenham.

Israel the first Middle East country to join the OECD – you will not hear about it on the BBC though.

Sorry they have reported it -http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/8672304.stm
yes there is even a picture accompanying the report – no not of the Governor of the Bank of Israel being congratulated on his country’s ascendancy but a photo of Pro-Palestinian protesters outside OECD headquarters in Paris. Compare this with the report on Chile’s appointment The BBC says Israel is set to become one of the organisation’s poorest members but has no data to show this –  in fact at least Estonia is much poorer but don’t let facts get in the way of a good Israel bash. More than half of the report is about the Palestinians nihilistic views on the subject. The BBC rotten to the core as ever.

Israel would be neither the poorest nor the least egalitarian of the OECD members. Data from the World Bank indicate that on a common measure–Gross Domestic Product per capita–Israel scores wealthier than existing OECD members Portugal, the Czech Republic, South Korea, the Slovak Republic, Hungary, Poland, Turkey, and Mexico. On a common measure of income equality (Gini coefficient), it scores more egalitarian than OECD members Turkey, United States, and Mexico, and the Gini coefficients for Portugal and Japan are only fractionally in the direction of greater income equality than Israel’s.

Marcus Luvscock and the rest of the BBC commentariat will get all moist over some lentil lovin looney but ignore a party which polled 3 times the amount. Even the Nazis polled 60% more vote than the soap dodgers.

Its just the same as before. When some no name on the left succeeds its all  bloody ‘Hallelujah’ but when some concerned white bloke whose main point is we are being ripped off by the eurognomes(A point on which 80% of the population agree)then oh no hes a nasty racist.

Would you invest money in a business that hadnt published its accounts for 5 years?

You’d be mental to and yet liebour has shuvvelled billions into an unaccountable money pit.

So some neoluddite who believes the global warming fairies gets lionised yet somebody stands up like the little boy and the emperors newclothes and points out the idiocy of the EU and is treated like Oswald Mosley

Oh yes. Raving socialists just LOVE the thought of one person controlling everything.

Is that conversation one they should be having out loud?

It suggests ‘a view’ on the part of our objective national political commentariat that hardly seems objective.

Good job their pensions are invested in things that they can also rig.

Can anyone explain the peculiar local circumstances in Brighton that have lead to this green being elected ? Its just in every other constituency they either came 5th behind UKIP or 6th behind the BNP. Around here I don’t think they managed more than 100 votes.

Just what has gone on in Brighton ?

Yesterday’s Davis/Humphrys clip currenlty most listened to on Audioboo, beating yesterday’s effort from BBC’s Rory Cellan Jones. Heh.
