Have you noticed how omnipresent former Chancellor Alistair Darling is on the BBC these days? I caught him on The World Tonight, and he was on Today the other morning. Maybe the BBC believe he STILL is Chancellor? He is given the opportunity to snipe at Coalition policy at every turn as the BBC consigns HIS role in the devastation of our economy to the memory hole.

Exactly – How many times did you hear Osbourne on the radio after every Labour policy anouncement?
Labour policies were always anounced as written by Labour by the BBC. This governments policies are just attacked by one side without any debate.
Ed Balls was given first comment on 6pm BBC radio 4 news re government education announcememts. I don’t remember any Conservatives given such prominence in May 1997.
In fairness to Darling he was shafted by the jock one eyed gay mong, he didn’t create the effing mess, it was the jock mong who did.
But darling needs to admit Liebour got it wrong, everyone is now starting to follow the UK and cut public spending NOW not later.

It’s the Darling Clods of May!
I heard Darling being interviewed by Evan Davies on the Today programme last week, and he was signed off by a chummy “thank you, Chancellor…oh, I mean Shadow Chancellor… ha ha ha”.
They’ve not got used to the concept of Labour being out of government.
The BBC will just not let go, showing just how pro labour they are. I think the BBC has much to answer for in the way it has slavisly followed and given Labour such an easy time over the last 13 years.
It started a lot more than 13 years ago. I stopped watching Any Questions and Question Time well before the end of Mrs Thatcher’s time because of their blatant bias.
Predictable. The BBC have now “found” the need to ensure balance. Now, the BBC will make sure that any Government statement, no matter how small or trivial, is promptly and comprehensively countered by the opposition view.
It’s just a shame that they were unable to seek the same “balance” during the last 13+ years. Almost daily there would be an item on the news which started “Prime Minister Gordon Brown later today will….” and then promptly moved onto other news items with no alternative view. That won’t happen any more.

Quite right. I think I posted here a few weeks ago, before the election, about how many news reports started with “Gordon Brown…”
Maybe now they will start with “Nick Clegg….”
Yep: all of a sudden it seems the Opposition’s view is important… and indeed exists.
The BBC has probably got Labour people as their Family and Friends numbers on their phones (which is very apt when you think about it). So they’re just trying to save us money. God bless ’em.
