The BBC in full synchronised cry with Obama regarding the evils of BP. The game seems to be one of proving how poor BP have behaved so far, then daring Cameron to kick Obama’s ass. In all of this, there is a visceral hatred of a successful once British company and a desire to somehow socialise “Big Oil” by “spreadin’ some of that wealth around.” It seems the BBC approves of the idea that BP profits should fund all those US businesses whose profits may have been affected by the Gulf oil spill. The commercial madness of this seems to pass them by but then again since the BBC exists by parasitically feeding of us, maybe it feels this is the best model to follow?

I think you are right; they are trying to goad Cameron to pick a fight with Obama – that way it justifies Obama’s War on Big Oil and confirms that the Tories really are the nasty party of big business. Next thing will be a link between Lord Ashcroft and BP!
Traitorous bbc, can’t even defend our own companies against an irrational, unjustified and vicious attack by foreigners (who are supposed to be our friends, ha!). So, as usual the bbc helps everyone but those who pay its bills. I wish we could be done with this organisation. It is rotten to the core.

To be fair, I thought Eddie Mair on PM yesterday gave a pretty easy ride to the Republican who thought Obama’s attacks on BP had gone too far, whilst being tougher on the Democrat who thought that everything Obama does is just fine.

The BBC is just following the White House script, as usual. Why the official national broadcaster of the UK is so devoted to supporting the leader of a foreign country, I have no idea.
But the evidence is clear. When was the last time anyone heard a peep from the BBC about the real anger against the President for His failure in the clean-up efforts? All we ever hear is tools like Mark Mardell making weak excuses for His lack of emotion. Then when the President goes over the top with emotional talk, threatening to kick asses, punish BP shareholders, etc., they’re in full mouthpiece mode.
BP is responsible for some of this, yes. But the clean-up mess is due mostly to a tragically poor response by the US Government, not BP. Yet, the BBC hasn’t devoted a single word to this part of the picture. For example, why hasn’t the BBC been reporting that the US Government has steadfastly refused help from foreign countries? The Beeboids can even shift blame from their beloved Obamessiah by pointing out that a 1920s law is being stupidly used to block foreign-built ships from working on the cleanup? Ah, but that would still make Him look incompetent and impotent, so never mind.
Obama has made a fool of himself over the BP incident. And is in danger of turning someone who actually likes the US (ie. me) into someone who regards them as an adversary. If I feel like this (a lifelong USAphile) goodness knows what the average Israeli feels. For the Jew hating Obama has done more to damage the relations between the USA’s friends, than anyone who has gone before him.

I feel exactly the same way. Does an idiot like Obama really think that the US have better friends than the Brits ? He is isolating the US and not aware of what he is doing.
I suspect most ordinary Americans do not agree with him. Maybe, David Preiser can comment. I certainly do not judge the Americans by their President.
The Obamessiah isn’t thinking about the diplomatic consequences of His actions here. Doesn’t give a damn, not even remotely important. All He cares about is the domestic scene, His popularity, His reputation, His agenda. He knows people aren’t happy with His Administration’s performance, and He’s clearly heard all the criticisms about not exuding a sense of urgency. Once that got to a certain level, magically the angry words started coming out. And so here we are.
Everything He says is geared to the US media and the US public. He’s not thinking for one second about how He needs to treat allies. He doesn’t know, doesn’t care. It’s amateur hour once again.
As a friend of the US, although sadly I have never been there , I am very worried about the damage Obama is doing to that great country. It is very dangerous for the US and the rest of the world.

A couple other interesting facts the BBC has kept hidden from you:
Last year, the Minerals Management Service (of the Dept. of Interior) gave Deepwater Horizon and Transocean their top Safety Award. The head of the MMS has since been thrown under the bus, of course.
Not only that, but this year, BP was a finalist for a pollution prevention award from the Dept. of Interior, who decided to postpone the awards process after the explosion and spill. Curiously, the panel chose the winner on April 20, before the explosion. Yet, the whole thing has been put off for now. Perhaps BP won, and it’s just too embarrassing to go forward? There doesn’t seem to be any logical reason to postpone giving another company the award.
In any case, the BBC has kept all this hidden from you, as it just might suggest that the tiniest amount of blame may lie with their beloved Obamessiah.
One of the real OTT suggested claims against BP is that they should be liable to compensate all other oil workers laid off on other rigs/companies because of the drilling moratorium imposed following the blowout. That is truly beyond cruel and unusual punishment. After all, following the Exxon Valdez grounding, I did not hear of that tanker’s owners being made to pay the costs of subsequent compulsory double bottomed hulls on tankers owned by other companies.
But, Exxon is a US company !
