THE TALIBAN COME FIRST…

A Biased BBC reader observes…

I was listening tothe BBC World Service (in Singapore) shortly after the news that British troopswere to be redeployed from Sangin to other parts of Helmand province. I wasastonished when the news reader went to the BBC’s correspondent in Afganistan forreaction to hear that the ONLY reaction sought and reported on was from theTaliban; who predictably described it as a British defeat etc. To say that(quite apart from the offense to the relatives of those killed in Helmand),this lacked journalistic integrity is a massive understatement of the BBC’sdisgraceful standards of reporting.

I have more respect for the Taliban than for the BBC. At least the Taliban are not traitors.

Can anyone tell me why the BBC staff responsible for aiding and abetting enemy propaganda are not being interviewed by MI5?

“As a recent example, the operation in Fallujah delivered an absolutely devastating blow to the insurgency. Though much smaller in scope, clearing Fallujah of insurgents arguably could equate to the Allies’ breakout from the hedgerows in France during World War II. In both cases, our troops overcame a well-prepared and solidly entrenched enemy and began what could be the latter’s last stand. In Fallujah, the enemy death toll has already exceeded 1,500 and still is climbing. Put one in the win column for the good guys, right? Wrong. As soon as there was nothing negative to report about Fallujah, the media shifted its focus to other parts of the country. Just yesterday, a major news agency’s website lead read: “Suicide Bomber Kills Six in Baghdad” and “Seven Marines Die in Iraq Clashes.” True, yes. Comprehensive, no. Did the author of this article bother to mention that Coalition troops killed 50 or so terrorists while incurring those seven losses? Of course not. Nor was there any mention about the substantial progress these offensive operations continue to achieve in defeating the insurgents. Unfortunately, this sort of incomplete reporting has become the norm for the media, whose poor job of presenting a complete picture of what is going on in Iraq borders on being criminal. ”

This why the BBC get away with it – spineless polticians.

“But the BBC hit back insisting it was ‘entirely legitimate’ to report the Taliban’s view that UK operations amount to a war against them, and pointing out that Mr Browne’s own views were given ‘ample space’ in the same bulletin.

As the row threatened to escalate last night the Ministry of Defence backed down, with officials claiming Mr Browne’s comments were ‘not directed at any particular organisation’.”

And don’t hold your breath for this government to be any different, than the last spineless lot.

“PRISONERS including rapists and murderers could get the right to vote in a move championed within the Cabinet by Nick Clegg, the Government said yesterday.”

One day I might wake up and find the last 20 years were just a nightmare ( I really hope so).

‘Incomplete reporting’ = ‘all can be sorted in post’ = ‘errors of omission’ = ‘interpreting events’ = ‘narrative properly enhanced’

        Order… is restored.

        Unique.

The BBC refused to answer my FOI request about legal advice given before interviewing a terrorist group (info for the purpose of journalism), in this case the Naxalite Maoists in India. The snippet of information they gave me was that a group had to be proscribed under the Terrorism Act before they consider any obligation to either the British or local authorities.

      Isn’t the Taliban so proscribed?

The BBC world services are very anti-British. The service once was to keep ex-pats and commonwealth citizens up to date with news from good old Aunty. Sadly they realised it could be used to just gain more audience share and the reporting became a stick to poke into the eye of Britain.
