As has been pointed out in the open thread this morning’s edition of Today went pretty big on a Cambridge academic planning to study the language and culture of the Inughuit. By using the magic words “climate change” and “global warming”, not only has Dr Stephen Leonard secured funding for a year-long gig in Greenland, he also earned himself a couple of slots on Radio 4’s flagship news programme talking to both James Naughtie and science correspondent Victoria Gill (@1hr 07.25). Gill’s segment reminded me of something:
"Blah Blah Climate Change Blah Blah"

Thank god for SouthPark. After being forced to pay for endless hours of nauseating climate alarmism on the B-BBC, it’s sweet relief to see the SouthPark writers mercilessly rip into hypocrites like Gore, Bono and the whole ridiculous global warming industry.

Just did a bit of googling, but I can’t seem to find out whether Victoria Gill has any science qualifications. I’m sure she must have, otherwise she couldn’t get a job with the BBC as “science correspondent”, could she ?

I recall that one of the interviewees in the documentary, The Great Global Warming Swindle’ said that all a researcher into the toiletry habits of squirrels had to do to get funding was to include ‘global warming’ in the scope of the report and voila, there’s the money. Looks like he was right.
