CORPORATE = BAD

Interesting interview here concerning the decision by Eric Pickles to remove the Audit Commission on the basis it has become costly and inefficient and by axing it the taxpayer can be saved at least some cash  Compare the treatment handed out to Michael O’Higgins of the Audit Commission with that dished out to Bob Neill from the Government. I wonder what it could be about the idea of Government axing a large bloated expensive public sector body that offends the BBC so much? Wonder has Eric Pickles apologised yet….

    Radio 4 only gave over 10% of its flagship 8:00 am News (which included an advertisement for the 10+ minutes interview with O’Higgins follwing the news).  Predictably, as you noticed, the “interview” was hardly searching and O’Higgins was given the freedom of the airwaves to traduce Pickles, the coalition and the cuts in general.  I turned the radio off after 10 minutes before Bob Neill’s futile attempts to interrupt the rant from a member of the Today Labour group.

    However, I didn’t miss the earlier interview with Ming as Today continued its increasingly blatant campaign to drive a wedge between the members of the coalition.

      It seems like all the papers/broadcasters are trying to divide the coalition, the BBC are hardly unique in that respect are they?

        Even if that’s true it doesn’t excuse the BBC’s persistent bias

        As prpw implies, it doesn’t matter if every other medium is also gagging to get Labour back, the BBC is required by statute to be impartial.  We are taxed on the basis that our taxes support an impartial BBC.  It isn’t and B-BBC provides evidence daily on how biased and partial the BBC really is.

        James,
        Except in the case of the BBC, we all have to pay for it through the licence fee as is endlessly pointed out on this website.

    I too turned it off once I`d heard Evan Davis agenda. Cood old Craig did us all a service by getting us to count the interruptions/minute and Davis clearly allies himself with the quangos now being picked off by Pickles etc. Once our suave Irishmen on fat cat salaries are culled then-zoot alors-it may yet be the boys upstairs who keep Davis and Naughtie etc in ungulents and croissants “sine die”
    To be fair though, the Beeb no longer even pretend to be balanced or impartial-basically they take their steer from the Gaurdian and its jobs page concerns of the moment. Means none of the parasites and hand wringers have to leave the Green Room or W1 anymore for a story. Hope Eric gets his secateurs out to Davis` chains and Humprhys taverna expenses before too long!

    I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again.  If the Tories are too f***ing useless to tackle the BBC about this difference in treatment then they deserve all they get.

      Exactly. The Tories are like a wife that keeps going back to an abusive husband.

    If we think “Toady” is bad news, then catch “The World at One” with prep-school bluestocking Marta Kearney wringing her linens over the bodies of the poor and vulnerable!
    For those who miseed it today, here it is in a nutcase!
    1. Pakistan-pay up you proles…the Taliban need your tents!
    2.Two old people die in Northamptonshire…so it was Social Services job to prop them up despite themselves..and here`s a Labour MP to say so!
    3. Iraq-Obama has his victory so the drawdown( retreat!) needs a military stooge in a clipped British accent to explain its cunning. Turns out that the military have been on a “journey”-not at war at all. Rejoice at that news!
    4. Burnham and the Labour “pitch of spit” leadershit contest! He gets untrammelled opportunity to rant about aspirational socialism and Martha bakes the scones as he does so! How much flannel can he spin us?…well he is talking over our little heads and hoping to galvanise his …er ..”followers”…and that is just as it should be in Beebland!
    I`ve listened to this liberal BS so you need not-I`ll not be listening again though-Martha Blarney for EU President whilst we surely need John Lydon back to be OUR “Peoples Champion”…any takers?
