Just the usual high level bias on Toady – presenters’ opening remark to coalition minister, ‘well , you’ve been found out, you don’t like travelers, do you ‘?
Not the sort of greeting I remember them handing out to nulab !  Also the beeboid current slur seems to be, ‘ you’re only doing this because it will be popular with readers of the Mail and the express.’ I don’t remember them saying to labour, you’re only doing this because it will be popular with public sectior readers of a low circulation paper like the guardian !

Typical liberal, the only reason they support left-wing policies is because they’re not affected by them.

They get the hump because the Daily Mail writes things they don’t like, but of course they miss the obvious points that the DM isn’t forced upon anyone, and nobody is forced to pay for the DM. I thought this BBC story was a bit contrived:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-11114213

“MP critised after ‘attack’ on sex education

A Conservative MP has become involved in a row after appearing to blame the rise in sexually transmitted infections (STIs) on greater sex education.”

Of course it quotes the criticism is from a Dr Petra Boynton, “a lecturer in international health services” and it goes on to give a few choice quotes, of course it gives the impression the MP (who is on holiday) has been in a row with this Dr. on Twitter.

Finally at the bottom it handily links to the MP’s website but not to the Dr.’s Twitter or website: clearly the beeb are hoping many “shrill and intolerant lefties” will leave messages on his site.

maybe I’m reading too much into this.

    • David Preiser (USA) says:

The following bit has been censored from all BBC reports on this story:

High rates of STI diagnoses have also been found among men who have sex with men.

This was censored from the first BBC report, as well as by Fergus Walsh on his medical blog.

The BBC also censored this part:

Dr Gwenda Hughes, head of the HPA’s STI section said:

“These latest figures show that poor sexual health is a serious problem among the UK’s young adults and men who have sex with men.

Instead, the focus is on frightening women.  I wonder why the BBC censored the parts concerning homosexual male activity?  Perhaps Evan Davis will have Iain Dale in again for another giggle about how the straights just don’t understand?

The report can be found here.  Note also that the BBC never links to it, which is very unusual for them, and even neglects to mention even the agency itself in the report about the Conservative MP.  In this way, the BBC not only keeps the public uninformed, but attempts to reshape the story for their own purposes.

It’s hard to believe this has become a worldwide story. Israel rabbi calls for ‘plague’ on Mahmoud Abbas  The BBC which ignores consistent Muslim incitement has discovered a Jew and puts it on the front page..

What the BBC doesn’t tell you.
*Ovadia Yosef is neither a member of Knesset, a member of the Government nor an appointed cabinet minister.
*Shas the party he is associated with is only the 4th largest member of the coalition. FYI: Likud 27 mandates – Yisrael Beitaynu 15 mandates – Labor 13 mandates – Shas 11 mandates – Habayit Hayehudi 3 mandates.
    * Ovadia Yosef’s spiritual authority is limited to essentially the supporters of his party and nowhere else.
    * Ovadia Yosef is famous for extreme statements that in many ways has turned him into a laughing-stock. For example, “The six million Holocaust victims were reincarnations of the souls of sinners, people who transgressed and did all sorts of things that should not be done. They had been reincarnated in order to atone.” Following Hurricane Katrina in 2005, Rabbi Yosef blamed the tragedy on the Godlessness of New Orleans, on U.S. support for the Gaza disengagement, and on a general lack of Torah (i.e. Jewish religious study) study in the area.
*The Shas party does not support compulsary military service for Yeshiva students and therefore only a limited number of followers are in any position to be incited. It is only marginally represented over the Green Line.
*Not even the Palestinians take him seriously.

            Notasheep, Craig

The BBC seems to be getting more and more childish and superficial. If I didn’t know anything about this rabbi (which I don’t) other than what’s  in in this article, I’d conclude that he was a bit round the bend.

He’s contradicted all his previous  provocative remarks  according to the BBC. If it’s true, and there’s no reason to suppose anything in a BBC article is true,  but let’s for once assume it is, why make a hullabaloo about some transient nonsense from Rabbi U-turn?
The article doesn’t make clear whether he was requesting his plague just for Mahmoud Abbas, or for the whole Arab world, but either way tomorrow he might be saying he meant something entirely different; and how dumb to make such a big deal about what that so-called peace negotiator Erakat said in response, when everything he says is invariably an excuse to create more obstacles to peace.

If a reader came upon this article with no knowledge of the Hamas charter or the murderous plans Islamists are scheming for Israel and the Jews, they might mistake the Rabbi’s wish for proof of Israel’s bad faith.

The BBC decides to inform us of this unimportant old man’s wish but not of the genocidal ambitions of most of Israel’s enemies. Islam’s curses upon Israel pale rabbi Ovadia Yosef’s loony plague wish into insignificance. If they gave equal prominence to both, or better still put them both into context then we’d be talking.

Here’s two comments by Hamas supporting Islamic clerics that Craig and I can see no record of the BBC ever reporting:
“The time will come, by Allah’s will, when their property will be destroyed and their children will be exterminated, and no Jew or Zionist will be left on the face of this earth.”

Ziyad Abu al-Haj, Hamas cleric in Friday sermon 3 April 2009

“The Jews are the Jews. There never was among them a supporter of peace. They are all liars… They are terrorists. Therefore it is necessary to slaughter them and murder them, according to the words of Allah… It is forbidden to have mercy in your hearts for the Jews in any place and in any land. Make war on them any place that you find yourself. Any place that you meet them – kill them. Kill the Jews and those among the Americans who are like them… The Jews only understand might. Have no mercy on the Jews, murder them everywhere.”

Dr. Ahmed Yousuf Abu Halabiah, a member of the Palestinian Sharia (Islamic religious law) Rulings Council, and Rector of Advanced Studies at the Islamic University: 13 October 2000.

I’ve begun writing a short satirical allegorical tale, ‘Albion House’, dealing with the BBC, PC, mass immigration and The Religion of Peace. I’d be grateful for opinions as to whether the idea has any potential – in which case the intention is to post it online. (Obviously I’d submit it to a creative writing circle if it wasn’t so un-PC!) Would any of you like to read an extract or two? Or can you recommend a sympathetic online writers group?  Anyway, here’s a synopsis:

A sleepy English village is subverted by a hostile leftist Council who stealthily flood it with incompatible inner city migrants.  Country lanes morph into squalid ‘urbanite minority’ ghettoes speaking an impenetrable patois. Natives’ concerns are dismissed as ‘bigotry’ by dour Council Treasurer Godfrey Black and his equality-obsessed sidekick, village schoolmistress Henrietta Harriman.  Council Community Broadcasting (‘the CCB’ or ‘Uncle’ as locals affectionately term their radio station) becomes a leftist propaganda tool under Che Guevara-worshipping Tristram Suckling. When the Cult of the Great Crystal of Cosmic Harmony takes over the alienated urbanites, Tristram cheerleads for it. But can he convince the village the Cultists are ‘peaceful hippies’ after Russ Salmon goes into hiding in his garage following the ‘blasphemous’ cartoon strip he pinned to the parish notice-board?

At the centre of this nightmare are the bewildered Philpot family, in whose home lodges Cult founder Derek Snaith. Gary Philpot suspects he is harbouring the Crystal Cult version of Al-Qaeda, but the brainwashed police daren’t question Snaith for reasons of ‘religious sensitivity’ and ‘community cohesion’. The local IKEA is picketed by Cult members demanding East-facing furniture, and when ordered to ‘sod off, you’ll spoil my tub chair display’ they bomb it to MDF dust. Tristram insists the ‘militants’ are merely ‘a few extremists radicalised by village xenophobia’. (But is he too much distracted by elderly Maria Whitehorse’s moans that ‘your stuff’s all smut and people shooting each other these days’?)

Derek has designs upon seizing St Botolph’s Church as a ‘Crystal Temple’ (and Mecca – so to speak) for his Cult. A villagers-versus-Cultists battle ensues in the churchyard, Tristram interviews the Cultists (but not the Village Heritage Society and distraught Christians) and is a bit selective about the photos he posts on the CCB website of the riot …

There’s more, but you must know by now whether this is your cup of tea. Actually, it’s by no means the cartoonish black farce it sounds, as I try to make the main characters into flesh-and-blood people in a village with a fully developed history and geography. I want to present an amusing and (apparently) lightweight story to non-political readers who wouldn’t read a serious website or newspaper about the dire situation facing the UK.

Not a bias story – just a stupidity one.

BBC Radio costs a whopping six hundred million quid a year.  And for what? Radio 4 – puts the great in britain etc  but I defy anyone under the age of 90 to find an hour’s worth to listen to in a week; Radio 2, nothing but a series of pension funds masquerading as a radio station, and the truly, truly dreadful BBC local radio.

A propos, her indoors was listening to a gardening programme on three counties radio or somesuch and the presenter, when suggesting the listener (there’s only one) should look something up on the net, ssaid, ‘use the search engines’.

You see being a non-commercial organisation the bosses don’t allow them to say ‘google’.  Funny then on Saturday night, Mogadon Man, Temazepam Man, and Chemical Cosh Man (Lineker, ‘Lawro’, and Hansen) can say BARCLAYS about a hundred times a show each.

Neither here nor there in the scheme of things, but one feels that this rank stupidity repeats and repeats and repeats throughout the organisation.

Any droids out there care to enlighten us.

World Service right now talking to the Prime Minister of Latvia about how that country’s austerity measures are affecting things, and how successful (or not, as this is the BBC) those austerity measures have been.

Without exception, the Beeboid Damian McGuiness (or something like that) read from the same script we’ve heard from all other BBC reports about austerity measures in any country:  it actually made things worse, it hits the poorest hardest, the fact that there are hardly any protests doesn’t mean that the public accepts it, etc.

Without exception, the Latvian PM corrected the Beeboid’s assumptions, including telling him that things would be even worse if they kept up the spending spree, and that they instituted a program specifically to help those in need during this time.

Basically, the BBC came in with the same pre-conceived Narrative as all other reports on this issue, even using the exact same language.  And this is on the World Service, supposedly editorially independent from BBC News or Panorama or Newsnight or Today or anything else.  Yet the language used and assumptions are exactly the same.

One of my local BBC Local Radio stations, Coventry & Warwickshire are this week running a series of programmes on the plight of the “travelling community” in the area.

Following on from last week’s B-BBC spotlight on the biased piece from Essex (where a 69 year old traveller praised the “kind” Labour Government) I think I know what this themed week will consist of.

However, what struck me in this article was the term “settled communities” i.e where you or I live.

    http://bbc.in/aGSP4l

I don’t know about you guys, but I have never thought of myself as living in a “settled” community.

Yet again the Left/BBC have created a term that is designed to put my conventional and legal lifestyle on the same level as those who routinely disrespect the environment of the countryside and break planning laws with impunity.

Unfortunately, on the Today segment about this, Bob Neil is actually the one who introduced the term into the discussion.  This does not detract from ol’ Justin’s biased attack question, of course.  But it does mean that, once again, the Tories are using Labour’s language (see Boy George’s nonsensical babbling about a “progressive” budget).  So the argument is already lost.

No mention of who exactly the counter demonstrators were, except the UAF, who incidentaly were not penned in, but free to walk across town and get within a few yards of the EDL and begin provoking them.

After seeing the EDL demo in Bradford at close quarters this Saturday, I was not surprised to see (and video) HAMAS supporters with their flags painted on their faces and the real thing flapping in the wind as they screamed abuse at the static demo.
They had even managed to con people into wearing green ribbons for ‘peace’ when in …fact they will claim you wore it to show solidarity with the Palestinian ’cause’.
Viva Palestina, a banned organization in some countries had their fingers in more than one counter protest group this weekend, and whilst the hooligan element of the EDL reacted to provacation from the Hamas supporters and the UAF, nobody in the media seemed to notice the real trouble causers.

INBBC’s no-show on Gaddafi’s Islamic propaganda in Italy, and
    Italian reaction to him.

One might have thought that ex-Labour PM Blair’s chums at Islam Not BBC (INBBC) might have told us how Blair’s other chum, Gaddafi, has been evangelising for Islam in Italy. Gaddafi seems to be keen to convert to Islam Italian young women who interest him.

INBBC must  think that we infidels in Britain are quite ready for the full Islamic message of conversion yet; so INBBC neither reports about Gaddafi, nor the reaction of Italian people to his propaganda.

    ‘Telegraph’:

“Italians have reacted with indignation after Muammar Gaddafi lectured 200 young actresses and models on the superiority of Islam, a day after saying that Europeans should all become Muslim.”

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/7971883/Italians-attack-Muammar-Gaddafi-over-Islam-comments.html

No doubt, INBBC would criticise the hapless Berlesconi if he tried to reciprocate by evangelising for Christianity in Tripoli, and tried to convert hundred of Libyan young women away from Islam.

Today’s BBC Campaign Group of the Day looks likely to be the anti-road Campaign for Better Transport. The fifth-most important story in the world at the moment is, according to the BBC website,:

Private toll roads not the answer – M6 motorway report
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-11132747

Hold the frontpages!: Anti-Road group produces anti-road report!!

Leaders of the campaign include Rebecca Lush, who chucked a pie in Jeremy Clarkson’s face (as a protest!), and Richard George, the chap who co-founded the anti-plane protest group Plane Stupid

Will they crop up across the rest of the BBC today, or not?

So, Breakfast made this its second story (with the Chilean miners their main story), with Stephen Joseph of the Campaign for Better Transport the only  ‘talking head’ in its report.

Who did they get for alternative view? Andrew Davies of the the Environmental Transport Association, which (said Kate Silverton) “campaigns for greener motoring”. He wants every road to be a toll-road (make the car-drivers pay!!)

So, another anti-car, greenie organistation – but one that takes the completely opposite view on tolling!

I suppose that’s the BBC’s idea of balance!!

Then, lo and behold, at 8.40 on came Richard George from the Campaign for Better Transport, attacking toll roads (and the government). and advocating “public transport” – buses, trains and trams for the sake of “climate change”.

9.40 Reprise of Richard George interview

That’s how things stayed (with hourly repeats of the report),till the afternoon and the One O’Clock News when David Bayliss of the RAC Foundation began appearing in an updated version of the report. That version is the one now being repeated.

    Hello hello hello!

Whats all this from Grant Shapps on the BBC toady show this AM?

Hey lets make it easier to scrap all those dusty useless old laws and bye laws eh? After all they…er…clutter up the books…so messy…much better to get rid of them because…er…uhm..well itll be great!
Along with this comes the key point and this is what its really all about and it aint about getting rid of old silly laws at all, its going to be far easier for authoriities to place shiny new laws on the books, real modern shiny new modern wonderful modern new laws and what could be better than that eh comrades?
OK I am sure that something is missing from the story as peddled, hmmmm I wonder what that great big grey animal in the corner with the big trunk and flappy ears is doing in the room…now what could possibly be missing?

Ooooh yeeees! Could it be that the REAL reason for the new political initiative is because the EU constitution demands that UK law conforms to EU law? Could it be that the political classes are trying a sneaky and crafty trick to prepare the way for a shed load of new EUROTRASH compliant new laws to enter the statute books?
Of course says the tory minister, you can have any law you want, real democracy in action blah blah blah BUT what Grant aint saying is that the EU constitution demands that our law is changed to their law, that their demands are met and that our political classes WILL pave the way and enact all necessary legislation to make it happen.
You see dear comrades of the new post democratic EU federal state, any UK regime is now forced to place the interests of the EU ahead of its own electorate and that is what the coalition are doing and they are using all the trickery and dishonest manipulation of newlabour. What you are seeing is the attempt by the current regime to comply with EU demands. People thought the EU constitution had somehow forgotten us in this Island, you might want to forget about the EU but the EU will never forget about you and its all change time coming soon and by the time people notice the change it will be as usual too late, the laws will be on the books for good!

Of course the BBC will attack the coalition whenever they can BUT they aint going to bring this little chesnut up because the EU federal ratchet has to do its work in secret where the little people cannot get uppity and pissed off, so the ratchet tightens bit by bit and the media ignores the slow strangulation of our sovereign rights and nationhood.

I do laugh at how the BBC prattle on about ‘climate change deniers’. Who is denying climate change? Anyone here? Put your hand up?

Me? Nope of course the climate is changing, always has done always will do. The question is where is the EVIDENCE that humans are largely or mostly responsible for altering the rate of climate change? Did I miss it?

The principle in science is you propose a theory then you try to destroy it using every tool at your disposal, until all of them have been exhausted and the theory remains intact, then you have proof.

Science has always operated this way, by trying to ‘disprove’ something, not the other way around.

Where is the HARD evidence to be tested? There is none, most of it is fiddled, made up, or based on opinion not evidence.

To call climate science a ‘science’ is like calling Gordon Brown a genius.

It takes a pretty sick mind to portray a farmer who has died after a hunger strike against Hugo Chavez’s seizure of his private property as an unjust oppressor.  Yet that’s how the BBC sees it.

    Venezuelan anti-Chavez hunger striker dies

Franklin Brito said his farm had been expropriated as part of the government’s policy of redistributing land to the poor.

Right there the BBC takes Chavez’s side, using the language of the far Left, immediately framing Brito as someone who doesn’t deserve his own property.

In a statement, Brito’s family called for the Venezuelan people to continue their struggle for “freedom”.

“Franklin Brito’s body became a symbol for all struck by the arrogance of power, for those offended by the arrogance of the rulers,” the family said in its statement.

Note the careful use of scare quotes in that first line.  This casts suspicion on the word, as it’s now downgraded to being a mere opinion of Chavez critics.  A less biased sub-editor would have quoted the full family statement which included the word “freedom”.  Maybe they’re just copying and pasting from a wire service, which is still no excuse.

Last year, an estimated 5,000 sq km (1,930 sq miles) of farmland that was previously in private hands was seized and redistributed.

The government says the policy aims to reverse long-standing injustices.

Translation:  Brito was the oppressor, who held his land unjustly.  Where’s the info about how he got his land?  How long was it in his family?  Anything at all?  No.

The BBC loves the neo-Marxist policies of Hugo Chavez, and frames stories in favor of those policies to the point of sickness.

    • David Preiser (USA) says:

Here’s a less biased report – which doesn’t betray any bias against Chavez, either – which has more information.  It also uses nearly all of the material in the BBC news brief, but puts it in a different light.  For example, note the way the use of scare quotes for “freedom” is handled quite differently:

“Today, August 30, 2001, the exhausted body of husband and father Franklin Brito stopped breathing,” his family said in a statement released to Venezuelan media, calling his death a “symbol” for the Venezuelan people in their struggle for “freedom.”

Just a bit more humanizing, so no wonder the BBC left that out and rephrased the part with “freedom”.

One more step forward since they got rid of the useful Jews from the Jerusalem bureau, and made other recent personnel changes.  I hope there isn’t going to be another step backward.  Still, credit where due.

The BBC broke their silence over the Australian election this morning:

Australia’s Gillard rejects new vote, vows stability
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-pacific-11134928

As before though, the reporting is strongly tilted towards Labor’s Julia Gillard, quoting her extensively, with the Coalition’s Tony Abbott only appearing in paragraph 12!

I wonder if this paragraph explains why they broke their silence:

The conservative opposition leader Tony Abbott had earlier claimed the upper hand as counting from the election briefly gave his party more votes and parliamentary seats than Labor, but Labor had edged ahead by Tuesday morning.

Sadly for the beeboids, since they published that article the Coalition has itself edged back into the lead again:

The competing claims for legitimacy were further complicated as Labor regained its lead in the two-party-preferred voting stakes early yesterday, only to be overhauled again by the Coalition last night.
    http://www.theaustralian.com.au/national-affairs/pm-julia-gillard-rejects-bob-katter-call-for-tariffs/story-fn59niix-1225912548283

The BBC article also chucks in this gratuitous piece of left-wingery, which comes out of nowhere and leads nowhere:

Powerful business lobbies, in mining and telecoms, are backing the opposition.

Once again, it’s blindingly obvious whose side the BBC is on.

Civil rights leaders criticised Mr Beck for holding the rally at the Lincoln Memorial, the place where Martin Luther King Jr made his “I Have a Dream” speech 47 years ago to the day.
Conservative Tea Party supporters – worried about debt and government spending – are portraying America’s first black president as unpatriotic and “un-American” for his stance on these issues, as Hilary Andersson reports.
