Who gives a shit about Burma? The BBC are a joke. The world service existed to broadcast to the British Empire, that no longer exists and neither should the World Service. We’re NOT a world superpower, that £200 million can be spent on better things.

Hunt is a prick, Anand was just itching to have a real go at him, Hunt needs to go and Pickles needs to take over. If the Tories don’t sort the BBC out, come the cuts the BBC will bring down the forces of hell on the Tories.

The conservatives have lost the battle over the last 50 years. They have failed to stop the march of socialism.  So why should they suddenly wake up and do something about the BBC when they are in a weak coalition government?

Cameron knows that a lot of right wing Tories want the BBC sorted. He could have thrown them the BBC as a bone to chew on to keep the right of his party happy. Clegg wouldn’t have kicked up a fuss knowing that at least Europe etc would be off the cards for the right of the Tory party.

I seem to remember the BBC World Service cut the service to the Falkland Islands some years ago. Does anyone remember a row about that?

There was a fuss when the BBC stopped Shortwave broadcasts to North America, but as usual the BBC takes no notice.

“The BBC has an important role promoting democracy and democratic values…”
    That’s a laugh.
The BBC promotes fascism and a distinct lack of values both here and overseas.
I only hope that Hunt flatters to deceive and the Tories will finally do something about this affront to society.

The World service is a festering hole like the domestic “service”.   It pumps out propaganda about how open and welcoming the U.K. is, and guess what, people want to come here in their millions.

I watched it and Hunt was utterly pathetic. God help us. Brillo kept asking him about BBC waste. Hunt mentioned something artwork ( I can’t quite remember).  He was too dim to say the move to Salford is a waste of money.

On bias, Hunt was on the programme all the way through and given a hard time. Angus Robertson (SNP)  appeared briefly and was roughed up by Brillo of Salmond breaking his promise of a referendum on independence.

The other guest for the whole programme was
Caroline Flint ( why ? ). What a nasty piece of work she is.  She was given a free ride right the way through and even interrupted Hunt twice without Brillo or Anand intervening. She almost seemed part of the BBC team, which I suppose, in reality she is.

In questions, Jack Straw stupidly asked 6 questions about Andy Coulson and got nowhere. This wasn’t even picked up in the studio discussion. I am beginning to wonder if even Andrew Neil has been nobbled.
