ON THOSE EVIL CUTS

Sorry it’s taken me until now to catch up with you all but I’ve been engaging with the BBC this morning. Sort of. Let me explain. The Nolan Show was covering the CSR this morning and had invited representatives of local political parties on to discuss it. Except mine. We were treated to student grant “Smash the Tories” gibberish – including a vox pop that contained those ready to follow the Marseilles Model of street protest. I eventually was allowed on after complaint. I was gifted about 2 minutes during which I spoke up for private business, criticies the establishment class, demonstrated a half £billion saving that Nolan instantly rejected, and was then promptly dispatched. When you’re saying that which they do not want to hear you get the exit treatment from Labour’s broadcasting arm. Nolan even raved about the Conservative Secretary of State Owen Paterson, stirring up the Smash the Tories Trot line even more. Appalling stuff.

WATCH YOUR WALLETS – IT’S TEEB TIME!

BBC ecofascists are part of the drive to stop industrial production and the generation of energy from fossil fuels. Their goal is to force us back to “nature”. Here Richard Black – still living it up in Japan at our expense at the UN biodiversity boondoggle (Convention of Biological Biodiversity, or CBD) – tells us about the drive to enmesh us into a terrifying new project: The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (Teeb). He tells us:

The draft agreement from this CBD meeting would see countries agreeing to incorporate biodiversity values into their national accounting by 2020, and eliminating by the same date subsidies that are detrimental to biodiversity.

In other words, they want governmments to stop doing anything that interferes with “biodiversity”, and to tax anything that does not demonstrably protect the environment. Even more worryingly, Mr Black also gleefully reports that the promoters of the said teeb have decided that £650billion a year is spent on “subsidising” fossil fuel energy production. They want this money to be handed instead to the developing world to compensate them for the nasty attacks on their biodiversity that they have had to endure from the rapacious west. In short, teeb is in the same mould as the IPCC: a whole new lexicon of jargon and lies to achieve political ends.

Astonishingly and chillingly, this nonsense is supported by the Cleggerons. And Mr Black and his cronies will no doubt be working flat out over the coming months to ram home this retrogressive, repressive scam.

DB’s post about the impartiality-busting tweets of left-wing BBC News Channel editor Rachel Kennedy, having first spread the message of BBC bias to Guido’s blog and to Melanie Phillips in the Spectator, now seems to have provoked a reaction from Helen Boaden.

Under the headline BBC Boss Tells Left-Wing News Staff “Stop Tweeting” Guido reports:

to all her staff today:

Dear All,

We have had some occasions recently of BBC News staff using social networking sites to share with the world their somewhat controversial opinions on matters of public policy and the future of the BBC. Unsurprisingly, these have been picked up by the wider web and used to discredit the BBC and its impartiality. We have Editorial Guidelines which cover the personal use of the internet …which everyone should observe. We also have brains and judgement which I suggest people fully engage before rushing to communicate. Hx

The Guardian speculates that an injudicious tweet from a BBC Breakfast reporter (Phil Lavelle) about the BBC’s funding of the Welsh-speaking channel S4C may well have provoked Ms Boaden’s action (probably “the future of the BBC” bit) though the the Guardian‘s Media Monkey seems to have missed the likeliest spark that lit the fuse – this website!

THE INTIFADA FUND AND THE BBC

Shocking to read that the BBC is taking advertising from an “Intifada” supporting Islamic bank. The excellent Undhimmi has the sordid details here but this sums it up;

Among many other activities, the bank controls two funds set up at an Arab summit in Cairo, in October 2000 – the Al-Quds Fund and the Al-Aqsa Fund. Between them worth hundreds of millions of dollars, these funds openly finance the ‘Palestinian Intifada’. It is also linked with the channeling of UN funds to Hamas.

Stated aims of the fund include the provision of assistance to the widows and families left behind by ‘martyrs’; and the furtherance of the ‘resistance’ against Israel.So there you have it. The BBC, a British Government-funded quasi-NGO, is taking advertising money from a bank which pays the families of homicide bombers and terrorists. Surprised?

No, but still a disgrace. WHY is the BBC taking advertising from such a terror-supporting organisation on one of it’s news portals outside the UK? Shouldn’t a major news organisation pick this up and ask some pointed question of the BBC? When people question BBC impartiality this only confirms their worst suspicions.

ON THE "UNIQUE FUNDING"

Interesting debate here between John Humphyrs and David Elstein on the decision to freeze the BBC TV tax for 5 years and a useful insight as to how the BBC like to tackle the subject of their own bloated funding. Elstein is clearly sympathetic to the BBC and thus Humphyrs is able to lead the interview without the irksome inconvenience of having someone point out that the UK cannot afford this annual £3bn indulgence. Note the title “BBC license fee freeze “wrong” – just in case you miss the message. Actually I agree it is wrong but not for the reason given by the BBC. It is wrong that the taxpayer contributes so much as one penny to this left wing burlesque. I’d sooner the billions went to our Armed Forces.

More Question Time Bias

So where is Question Time coming from this week – the week of savage cuts spending rising but not as much as it was previously?

One day after the the Comprehensive Spending Review it’s coming from Middlesbrough which is ranked as 324th out of 324 council areas by Experian (well spotted Tim). In other words (according to the BBC website) it “will be the least resilient to such public sector cuts.“

Could the location be any more deliberate, more calculated or more biased?

ON THE STREETS

Don’t know if anyone else watched Newsnight but it’s almost as if the BBC are annoyed that the UK trade unions have not taken to the same level of street violence as we see in France. Quite remarkable, and running close to incitement to riot. Did you see it?

Robin Shepherd has another well deserved pop at the BBC for revelling in Mike Leigh’s ‘message’ to Israel. Another instance of luvviedom meddling naively in Middle East politics.
After Ken Loach, this is even better for the BBC because apparently Mike Leigh can speak AsaJew.
Deep joy, as Professor Stanley Unwin used to say.
Not only that. It gives them a golden opportunity, which they grasp with alacrity, to opine negatively in the form of: one “critics say” and one: “some suggest.” Robin Shepherd expands on this, do read his article.

THAT UNIQUE FUNDING

It’s a curious way that they look at it. I refer to BBC outrage that it will be “ordered” to pick up the costs of  TV licenses to those people over 75 years old. I would go further – the BBC should pick up the tab for the costs of all TV licenses – ie. let them pay their own way with their “world class” journalism!
