Anyone else catch John Gaunt bitch slapping Richard Bacon today on Radio 5? Bacon came out with all the usual crap about Rupert Murdoch, Fox News and Glenn Beck (Beck seems to be the new hate figure at the BBC rather than Palin I’ve noticed)
It’s not up on the 5live site yet but it’s worth a listen, there was some creepy camp twat from the Guardian (natch) as well.
Just been listening to Red Star Five Live and Peter Allen said they wouldn’t be on tomorrow due to strike action. No other details, and he didn’t sound certain.
What will they put on instead? How about Caroline Lucas reading an unabridged edition of Das Kapital?
What I want to know is how will this strike affect all the non-NUJ employees? Aside from management’s protected salaries, what happens to the low-paid techies and production staff? Do they lose out on pay so the top earners can fight to keep that extra layer of padding in their gold-plated pensions?
Heard the Gaunt thing Martin. Bacon really didn’t like it when Gaunt merely hinted that the BBC promotes the Left so why shouldn’t a Fox News in this country promote the right.
Journalists (and I use that term loosley when refering to the BBC type) striking? What possible impact will this have on anyone? The BBC could sack the lot of them and I expect no one would give a damn.
What can the BBC take off air that will have people on the streets in protest?
One of Bacon’s comments today about Glenn Beck was that he ‘only gets 3 million viewers’ and so his bark is bigger than his bite. Gaunt did slap him around on this, but of course what Bacon fails to point out is that Beck also has a popular radio show and sells lots of books.
Anything but having to see that arrogant and over rated idiot Chris Addison on my screen.
He was dismal on Have I Got Bias For You, especially with his oh-so-hilarious quip asking ‘where are the printer cartridges when you need them’ in response to a picture of Presidents Bush senior and junior.
There was also the obligatory slap at the Tea Party, a picture of a chimps tea party elicited the comment ‘the Tea Party congressmen’. Why don’t the BBC engage in some honesty and put up a spliced image saying vote Labour, vote Democrat and be done with it?
Also, I thought Gordon Brown FINALLY taking a break from writing his book/pack of lies and deciding to speak in the HoC might be worth a gag or two – how naive of me.
Still, Addison’s Five Live show ‘Seven Day Sunday’ makes HIGNFY look like an exercise in bashing all things left-wing.
Looking at posts at a not unsupportive publication today, bearing in mind its readership is pretty much 50% BBC employees, was interesting.
In a ‘see ’emplace both feet in mouth, then shoot with a 12-gauge’ kind of way.
Those that noticed, didn’t care.
Those that cared, didn’t notice the rest are not really too interested in a bunch of over-paid luvvies sulking that their mis-handled and poorly invested pension pot has gone tits up.
And that their sorry apology for a ‘service’ is about as essential as a lesbian outreach officer in submarine… and is now irrelevant.
£3.6B ready to plough back into actual, useful stuff that has a point and works… if the coalition had any sense. Or balls. Which they won’t. And don’t.
I just hope the market rate talent on £400-800k doesn’t cave in, again, with money they don’t have, yet, because the money fairy always comes through.
But for today, Mr. Maguire, you were not missed. At all.
Hail smiling morn, smiling morn,
That tips the hills with gold, that tips the hills with gold,
Whose rosy fingers ope the gates of day,
Ope the gates, the gates of day,
Hail! Hail! Hail! Hail!
Who the gay face of nature doth unfold,
Who the gay face of nature doth unfold,
At whose bright presence R4 Today flies away, flies away,
Today flies away, Today flies away,
At whose bright presence all the BBC buggers fly away, fly away,
Hail! Hail! Hail! Hail!
Hail! Hail! Hail! Hail!
I could follow with “Oh, wot a beautiful morning … ” but I need another glass of Buck’s Fizz before breakfast. And I have not bothered taking my BP tablets today and my levels are perfick! If only every morning could begin so good.

Yes, back to back films, please – far more entertaining and informative than the usual dross. “Toilets” Maguire can get stuffed (and probably will).

I didn’t hear all of it but Gaunt really did patronise him, it was quite funny at times.

Do we get a licence rebate for the days the BBc is on strike?

Bugger a rebate, just don’t pay. It’s never exactly value for money, is it? Tell ’em the service is not fit for purpose, and they can stuff it.

Bilko would be great. Interspersed with classic episodes of The Rockford Files. And Tales Of The Gold Monkey.
Stay on strike for as long as you like, comrades.

antasy lineup above. My predictions for what we’ll actually be offered:
Flog It !
More Flog It !
The Best Of Flog It !
Classic Flog It !
Scraping-The-Bottom-Of-The-Barrel Flog It !
The episodes of Flog It ! you find when you look under the barrel and have a bit of a root about in the primeval slime there.

And Flog It Down Under.

I’m delighted by the strike. It shows just how outdated and arrogant the BBC news staff are.
Picket lines are so 1970s, a bit like most BBC staff.

Bacon just showed himself up to be a pinhead.

How will Mirror’s Labour-NUJ and BBC ever-present Maguire boost his income now that his political sidekicks are on strike?

We pay for Beeboid Humphrys to go to China, and striking Beeboids in Britain want to stop him being heard.
