A TWEET FROM THE ECHO CHAMBER…

Left-wing website Think Progress has a very upbeat happy-clappy take on the outcome of the Cancun climate conference. I am aware of this because BBC LA correspondent Peter Bowes recommended the article after he’d seen it tagged by one of the leading climate analysts of our generation:

How much is all this going to cost UK citizens? What could we spend the money on instead? What will it mean for our taxes, and for the price of energy and goods? How many old people will die because they can’t afford the increased fuel bills? None of those questions worry BBC journalists. No, what matters is that Leonardo DiCaprio says it’s great news.

The long term effects on ordinary, decent people don’t enter into the heads of these idiots. So long as their pet projects and beliefs are vindicated, and those poor, poor, people in the third world get some money – well, at least their governments get some money, which no doubt will never get to those who need it, but will be wasted on palatial living, it’s all wonderful.  Little do they realise, that those countries financing this rubbish from their own empty coffers, will very soon become third world themselves.  And all the time, of course, these “celebs”, “luvvies” and those with pots enough of money not to really care anyway, will continue their own inflated lifestyles, having “done their bit” in conscience salving.  I doubt if a single one of them has bothered to look at the facts about the alleged man-made climate change myth, and simply hang blindly on to what they are told by the advocates and adherents of the religion, because it fits their own left-wing cause.  I really can’t fathom out the attraction, because if we embark upong this one-world governance idea, the nouveau riche will be amongst the first to be brought down to earth.  Or am I missing something?

How fitting for the Climate movement that they should pick as their spokesman an actor whose most famed role was in another sinking vessel, The Titanic.

Or whose most recent role involved him delving ever deeper into the realms of absurdity to justify a tenous grasp of reality.

Or, Di Caprio in Catch Me If You Can, where he plays famed con artist Frank Abagnale Jr.

I suspect the connection is James Cameron, Hollywood’s biggest green fanatic and  director of both The Titanic and the more recent greenfest Avatar (as regards which, Sacha Baron Cohen never got to deliver his immortal line “is it ‘cos I’s blue?”)

I wonder what the CO2 footprint is of De Cappuccino? The prat thinks driving a Prius once a year is really offsetting the huge amount of CO2 he generates as a celebrity?

It seems to be a pretty consistent rule.  The more they bang on in public about climate change, the bigger their personal carbon footprint.  Somehow theirs never counts.
