Had to laugh at this desperation…
BBC executives are trying to raid Government funds intended to tackle world poverty in an attempt to lessen the impact of cuts on the World Service. A secret memo leaked to the Telegraph shows that the state-funded broadcaster has lobbied ministers to divert £25 million out of the budget of the Department for International Development (DfID) and into its own finances. The corporation claims that the move would be justified because World Service broadcasts can “contribute to the stabilisation of Pakistan and Afghanistan”.
Look, Pakistan and Afghanistan have enough to concern themselves with than endure the toxic output of the BBC.
The World Service Service is no longer relevant. Most people have access to news sources from many other Countries, the BBC need to wake up, we no longer have an Empire and it’s about time we cut back the BBC in all areas.

Correct; and the INBBC ‘reporters’ for World Service (WS) in most Islamic countries are Islamophilics whose vocabulary hardly uses the words ‘Islamic jihad’ and ‘sharia’.
If INBBC (WS) were to criticise such regimes, WS would be closed down; so WS exists to appease such regimes, and has to indulge in self-censorship. A disreputable, unworthy state of affairs. Close down WS; don’t let UK government transfer financial cost to licencepayers in 2 years time, as is planned.

The BBC lost the plot when they collapsed shortwave broadcasting to concentrate on the internet, forgetting that many listeners have no access to computers or the internet.

The BBC contributes to the stability of Pakistan and Afghanistan? A laughable assertion, they produce reports that depict British soldiers as invaders and murderers rather than decent men and women trying to safeguard freedom and improving people’s lives.
They then bring this narrative home to the UK in order to agitate Muslims here.
Scum.

Yes – removing traitorous reporters from the payroll, thereby eliminating the anti-British vitriol in its reports on Pakistan and Afghanistan would be a benefit to both countries as well as achieving much-needed financial savings. What’s not to like?

Former BBC World Service Managing Director Sir John Tusa is very much opposed to the cuts. He was once denounced by Paul Foot of the SWP as a ‘CIA agent’. Tusa is a guy I’ve a lot of time for and respect his opinions.
Judging from what I know though of the BBC’s Arabic language output, it would be a great contribution to world peace to close it down tomorrow.

Think BBC Word Service today, then –
think BBC Arabic Service, as a microcosm.
There it is, based in the East Wing, Broadcasting House, London (Mecca-facing, with new extension, complete with prayer room) which British taxpayers pay for.
It is from here that anti-Israel material is broadcast to suit its Arabic audiences. And, does it tell the real story of the Muslim Brotherhood (MB) message, as put out in Arabic? Of course not. BBC Arabic Services is not designed to assist British people to get a greater understanding of whom are frends or enemies are in the Arab world; on the contrary, BBC Arabic Service is received free in the Arabic world (courtesy of the duped British taxpayers), and the political message put out has to please the Islamic aspirations of its Arabic audience.
“BBC Arabic service on two-day strike”
CLOSE DOWN ‘BBC WORLD SERVICE’ NOW, STARTING WITH ‘BBC ARABIC SERVICE’.

Heavens, I should love to see BBC execs being asked to justify this idea on the Daily Politics! Personally, I believe that most DfID spending is worse than useless, acting as a typical socialist poverty trap &/or going into the pockets of tyrants to pay for their Mercedes and military, but the idea that it would be better spent by beeboids gave me a good if hollow laugh!

That’s rich: one minute the Beeboid Corporation is loudly trumpeting its independence from government and the next it is touting for some sort of political role vis-a-vis foreign countries if only the government will give it some more money. Is there no level to which Thompson will not sink in pursuit of money?

Imagine if Cameron raided this account to the tune £25 million to spend on something worthy (not the BBC) in this country. I would envisage the story rolling across all BBC outlets for two or three days with a theme of ‘ evil Tories take money meant for poverty-stricken Africans’. You know you would, Beeboids.

I assume this is what the Beeboids mean by “stabilizing” Pakistan and Afghanistan:
Pakistan agrees Sharia deal
Pakistan has signed a peace deal with a Taleban group that will lead to the enforcement of the Islamic Sharia law in the restive Swat valley.
Regional officials urged the Taleban, who agreed a 10-day truce on Sunday, to lay down their arms permanently.
Whew, glad that worked out.
Can free radios put US on Afghan people’s wavelength?
A US-funded radio station is trying to win the Taliban propaganda war by distributing thousands of free, solar-powered radios in remote parts of Afghanistan.
The BBC’s Bilal Sarwary joined the military as they handed out the hand-cranked receivers, and found them a hit with Afghans – but can they persuade the people to switch off the militants’ message?
So it’s really the US enabling any kind of “stabilization” the BBC may be accomplishg? Not to worry: the Beeboids make sure to celebrate themselves anyway.
The US-funded AM and FM receivers can pick up a range of other broadcasters, including the BBC, Voice of America, commercial stations and even occasionally Mullah Radio – in areas where attempts to jam the militants’ signal have not succeeded.
Oh, hey, I think I can see a little nugget of unhappiness there. Mark Thompson and the mandarins are upset that the nasty Tories are hurting their chances in the turf war against those bastard Yanks. It’s probably 24/7 Sarah Palin and Glen Beck, right?
The BBC forgot to tell you that their amazing cultural and stabilizing influence was thanks to the damn cowboys. Mark Thompson is a genius street fighter.
