    Reuters’ report:

    Seven women were killed last Thursday after security forces opened fire on protesters in the northern pro-Ouattara suburb of Abobo, according to witnesses and military sources.
    On Tuesday, a march there went off peacefully but was swiftly followed by bursts of gunfire.
    “Gbagbo, assassin! Gbagbo, power thief! Leave!” the women shouted and sang, some in traditional dress, others wearing T-shirts printed with Ouattara’s face.
    The only men with guns present were pro-Ouattara youths with AK-47s and civilian clothes, who residents said were there to protect the march. One warned Reuters TV not to film them.
    But witnesses said almost as soon as the march petered out, machinegun fire rocked the neighbourhood.
    “We’ve been hearing machinegun fire for much of the afternoon. It sounds like two groups fighting each other but I don’t know,” said resident Tiemoko Souala.
    Another Abobo resident said they saw security forces move along the main street before the machinegun fire erupted.
    Abobo is now largely controlled by insurgents calling themselves the “invisible commandos” and professing loyalty to Ouattara, after a week of gun battles in which they pushed out police and military loyal to incumbent leader Gbagbo.”

    Some information.

    Outtara is Muslim. The UN supports their former ‘man’.

    Gbagbo is Christian. The Ivorian Constitutional Court has ruled the election invalid due to northern (Muslim) voting fraud

    The BBC presentation of their politicised eye-witnesses, once again entirely fails to establish a balanced report.

    Just another action day to pimp leftist values using B list celebs who would stab their mum to get airtime, take away the word women and replace it with socialism and the BBC coverage makes sense. Just another cause hijacked by the left to pimp its rancid ideology. If these so called womens rights organisers dared to protest and fight against the perpetrators of real abuse against women and dared to highlight the real suffering of women at the hands of the planets worst and cruelest women abusers then you can bet the farm that the BBC would shut the door on them and their cause in a Nw York minute.

    In reality real abuse is ignored and the real struggle for real equality comes a distant second to the political narrative, any woman thinking these leftists give two sh*ts for the plight of real women is mistaken.

    The only womens rights the BBC is interested is the right of leftist women to pimp their rancid hypocritical ideology, any woman daring to stray from the BBC narrative would quickly find that the real BBC is nothing like the fake image they like to present to the world.

    Do you want a laugh. I’ve owned a static caravan on a holiday park for a couple of years now. Along with all of the other owners, I got a letter from the BBC forwarded via the park owners asking me to buy a second licence or to write back to them (at my expense) with an undertaking that:

    a.) I don’t rent out the caravan.
    b.) If the caravan is not rented out, then the TV in my caravan and  
         the TV back at home are never switched on simultaneously.

    What a cheek. Of course this letter will be ignored.

    As predicted, the Beeboids are in full defense mode to protect their beloved Obamessiah against criticism for re-establishing military tribunals and declaring Gitmo back in business after all.  Andrew North blames ugly United Statesians, even while the News Online sub-editor writes about the President making statements about how this will help the US.  As if it’s okay for the President of the US to just lie about it to appease the knuckle-draggers, but that’s okay because it’s Him.

    Mark Mardell, naturally, blames “the mood of the country – or at least that of the vocal politicians who say they represent America.”  I guess he forgot that the bill He signed in January to keep Guantamo Bay open was pased by a very Democrat Congress, led by Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid.  Are they the “vocal politicians” who only “say” they represent the wishes of the country?  I bet Mardell doesn’t even realize what he’s said here.

    No, instead it’s sympathy for the poor Obamessiah, the LightWorker thwarted by ugly United Statesians. How dare they humiliate Him like this!  It was never His fault for treating such a complex issue so casually.

    Not even a moment’s reflection that closing Gitmo and treating people picked up at paramilitary training camps as civilian criminals might not be the doddle that He and the BBC made it out to be.

    Mardell also thinks the President is simply lying when He says that it’s all good.  He says, “Just under two years away from another election he may still feel the same but he has recognised that for many, safety beats ideals, hands down, every time.”

    Lastly, I’m amused that the Beeboids see no contradiction in the fact that He signed the bill in January, but now says He’ll work to overturn it.  So did He sign it out of weakness, incompetence, or what?  Again, no Beeboid dares address it.  Instead, they shift blame elsewhere.

                Fair point, logical also but Pirran doesn’t extort cash with menaces to gibber insults on this blog whereas Mardell presumably gets paid far more than is justifiable and that’s before the addition of the wilfully opaque expenses & allowances booty.

                 It’s Mardell’s smugness that irritates, both Katy Kay & Frei have it, a sort of supercilliousness, that’s it’s a chore to have to explain to the little people how politics is mechanised. Justin Webb has it too. There’s a cultural problem with the BBC’s Washington Bureau that gives rise to a group think at variance with how British people should behave abroad. Their analytical abilities fail from the cynical British geneotype to a bohemian, beltway drivel manifest in certain Ivy League colleges. It’s kinda pathetic, frankly.

    The BBC has just got wind of it….a brief mention on the Libya Live ticker this evening.

    “Meanwhile in Egypt, a Coptic Christian has been killed in a clash with Muslims in Cairo on Tuesday, a hospital official has told the AFP news agency. Earlier, more than 1,000 Copts gathered in the capital to protest against the burning of a church.”

    The news has been out there for four days. Funny it should have just crept in today (8th March)

    (AINA) 5th March — A mob of nearly four thousand Muslims has attacked Coptic homes this evening in the village of Soul, Atfif in Helwan Governorate, 30 kilometers from Cairo, and torched the Church of St. Mina and St. George. There are conflicting reports about the whereabouts of the Church pastor Father Yosha and three deacons who were at church; some say they died in the fire and some say they are being held captive by the Muslims inside the church.
    Witnesses report the mob prevented the fire brigade from entering the village. The army, which has been stationed for the last two days in the village of Bromil, 7 kilometers from Soul, initially refused to go into Soul, according to the officer in charge. When the army finally sent three tanks to the village, Muslim elders sent them away, saying that everything was “in order now.”
    A curfew has been imposed on the 12,000 Christians in the village.
    This incident was triggered by a relationship between 40-year-old Copt Ashraf Iskander and a Muslim woman. Yesterday a “reconciliation” meeting was arranged between the relevant Coptic and Muslim families and together with the Muslim elders it was decided that Ashraf Iskander would have to leave the village because Muslims torched his house.
    The father of the Muslim woman was killed by his cousin because he did not kill his daughter to preserve the family’s honor, which led the woman’s brother to avenge the death of his father by killing the cousin. The village Muslims blamed the Christians.
    The Muslim mob attacked the church, exploding 5-6 gas cylinders inside the church, pulled down the cross and the domes and burnt everything inside. Activist Ramy Kamel of Katibatibia Coptic advocacy called US-based Coptic Hope Sat TV and sent an SOS on behalf of the Copts in Soul village, as they are presently being attacked by the mob. He also said that no one is able to contact the priest and the deacons inside the burning church and there is no answer from their mobile phones.”

    When it comes to the news about post ‘Revolution’ Egypt, don’t bother with the BBC.

    It’s not the sort of news they want to report.

    In the delights of post ‘revolution’ Egypt., apart from the INDIGENOUS (the ‘victims’ and symbols of moral justice the world over for the BBC…except in Muslim contexts), there is now a huge looting problem. (3rd March)

    Metropolitan Museum of Art’s storerooms at its excavation site in Dahshur, south of Cairo has been looted  In a statement the Met’s director, Thomas P. Campbell expressed alarm about continuing looting, calling it “a grave and tragic emergency.” In a statement, which was issued before Mr. Hawass’s resignation was confirmed, he said:
    “The world cannot sit by and permit unchecked anarchy to jeopardize the cultural heritage of one of the world’s oldest, greatest and most inspiring civilizations. We echo the voices of all concerned citizens of the globe in imploring Egypt’s new government authorities, in building the nation’s future, to protect its precious past. Action needs to be taken immediately.”

    What is happening in Egypt, I wonder.

    Didn’t G.K Chesterton debunk feminism a century ago? Even the word feminism is a misnomer because it is anti-women and certainly anti-feminine. The whole point of feminism is not to celebrate woman as they are and as they have historically been in their traditional roles and traditional values. Rather feminism is about woman becoming more and more like men in the name of ‘equality”, as if there were no qualitative differences between men and women, and choice.

    Has anyone noticed it how much the focus is on women joining those social arenas customarily the domain of men and indeed behaving more and more like men? Those areas that women have cared about and cared for since time immemorial are scorned by those who are supposed to value women. Chesterton was right, women have surrendered; they’ve agreed men’s values and men’s domains are all that really matter.

      An extreme contrast is evident in political ‘impartiality’ of INBBC for (a) Chomsky, (INBBC obviously pro-Chomsky;(b)Wilders, (INBBC obviously anti-Wilders).

      (a) CHOMSKY (e.g. by subservient Paxman, ‘Newsnight’ tonight): INBBC imparts extreme political reverence, coupled with non-criticism;

      (b) WILDERS: in contrast, whgenever he is featured, is treated by INBBC with extreme hostility and a harshly critical approach.

    I haven’t had the time to watch much BBC news recently, so I don’t know whether they have been broadcasting items similar to the one I have just watched on Sky News.

    It was footage that had “Pallywood” written all over – they must have an OB division now. The clip started with the Sky reporter and camera following a few hundred “rebels” who appeared to be marching upon someone or something. Next came the gunfire and explosions at the head of the demonstration – cue stampeding and shouting of “allahu akhbar” – fortunately the Sky team had had the with where with all to huddle down into a position which enabled them to continue filming the unfolding scene. What comes next in the Pallywood script? ah, yes, blood soaked casulties, and obviously they were been carried by a mob chanting “allahu akhbar”. Within moments the ambulance arrives, stopping not far from where the Sky team were hunkered down. The Sky team race over to film the casulties and then even jump into the back of the ambulance! And head on their journey to the hospital where I think I may have seen some REAL casulties – surreal stuff.

    Now I know that people REALLY are being killed, but why resort to the Pallywood style stuff? And if Sky are showing that sort of stuff it’ll only be a matter of time before the BBC start to show it.

      Probably needs a more experienced commenter on matters military to sort out what’s what.

      Would I do it? Not a bat in hell’s chance. Are they brave? Possibly, if in a rather odd way. Is it journalism? Certainly some aspects, such as the disconnect between Col. and mini-Col’s sofa/SUV pontifications and rather different footage do raise worthy questions.

      But other ‘war zone’ stuff does come across poorly. Possibly it’s just the fog. But I do recall a report from within a mosque being assaulted by heavy weapons and thinking that shutting a wooden door might not stop modern heavy calibre rounds. Especially as the guy in the studio just kept on chatting away like the woman under fire was more under a brolly in front of Big Ben.

    Paxman-‘Newsnight’-Chomsky-Nuremberg-Cairo.

    I suppose it was to be expected from the very first shot of the geographical setting of Paxman’s talk (not an interview) with Chomsky -in the American’s London hotel room, that Paxman would play the supplicant. I don’t suppose as a broadcaster, you go to someone’s hotel room and have a tough intereview; and perhaps the wily Chomsky had this in mind, although it’s bound to be softball from ‘Newsnight’.

    As it was, Paxman heard Chomsky say re-Nuremberg-type war trials, that Western leaders were eligible to stand (no other leaders mentioned); -all that was clarified by Paxman, but unchallenged.

    And when Chomsky commented on the uprising in a non-Western country, Egypt, Paxman merely listened to Chomsky assert that it was all wonderful, and all the following on Islam was censored:

Why not those big diesel consuming artics and buses?     I earlier commented on the slow and then under-reported response by the BBC on the current attacks on Copts in the greater Cairo region. The death toll is now 6.

    The BBC rather sniffily observes that Copts have ‘often complained about discrimination’ and (my highlight)

    “Some context to the report that six Egyptian Christians have been killed in Cairo (see 0823). Violence began on Tuesday during a protest by Copts against last week’s burning of a church. Copts – who make up about 10% of Egypt’s population – have often complained of harassment and discrimination, and attacks against them date back to well before the departure of ex-president Hosni Mubarak last month.”

    So, there are attacks but this is nothing new and not the consequence of the super duper  revolution that caused such excitement last month. The revolution is not to blame.

    This begs the question as to what is to blame.!

    I don’t intend to fill this blog with the detail of the events re. the Copts. (One of the many indigenous people who have big problems with life in the Muslim world).  But the BBC is strangely uninterested and only follows the pack in reporting the incidents when they are already available elsewhere in the media.

    Muslim racism and murderous intolerance are just ignored in the service of the narrative of Muslims being victims at all times and everywhere.

    The bias is leftist liberal and ultimately shamefully hypocritical.

    I would just like to say thank you to Pounce.  As I watched the 10pm news last night with my husband I could point out to him that in spite of John Simpson in Libya appearing to be in a dangerous area and appearing to wear body armour – he wore no helmet – like all those around him and they didn’t appear to be worried about the sounds of gunfire. They were just standing around and wafting guns about. Secondly he was appearing to wearing a clean pink newly pressed shirt (the sort that might have shown sweat stains – but didin’t) and he body armour didn’t look that substantial – as though it was only fabric. 

    I don’t know what John Simpson said because I was too busy ‘reading’ the scene but in view of what Pounce has written on this site – I don’t suppose what JS was saying was that relevant anyway.

I’m just glad that I’ve helped expose how the media (Not just the bBC) can be used to present a political  image which they support of any situation around the world. (Think Vietnam after the Tet offensive, Israel and of course as DP points out the situation concerning the FS)  
       
      I am a very observant person by nature (And bloody nosey to boot at that) So next time you see anybody reporting from the front line, have a look at what his crew are wearing. (If you can go back to the video of where Simpson and his crew end up running from the Gaddiffi checkpont and the first bombing attck by the Su 17. For a caring employer it appears the bBC only kits out the people in front of the camera with BA. But here’s the catch if your job entailed you reporting from front lines and your employer didn’t supply you with body armour would you not purchase your own? But for some strange reason only 1 person is wearing body armour.

    Which, being the source of all news a public opinion in certain quarters, elevates it to the voice of the people.

    However, open season on heartfelt commentary across the board seems still a rather singular street in the minds of some.

    I suppose we should be thankful he didn’t have a letter from his mummy pinned to his jacket.

    It bears repeating that Chomsky is worth listening to on linguistics.  On anything else his opinions have the same authority as Bono’s on development economics.  The only reason Chomsky (and Bono) are given the freedom of the BBC airwaves to spout contentious crap is that, unfortunately, this contentious crap is also part of the BBC mindset and thus qualifies to join all the other biased stuff poured out by the impartial state broadcaster.

    I wouldn’t mind but, if you must give time to certifiable lunacy from Chomsky, why not get someone like Oliver Kamm on as well to oppose him?  Kamm – over the years and including this http://www.chomsky.info/onchomsky/200511–02.htm – has completely destroyed Chomsky’s “philosophy” and, while we’re about it, destroyed Chomsky’s pretence to any honest or consistent treatment of his own (Chomsk’s) philosophy. 

    Kamm concludes his quoted article with this:

    “He [Chomsky] once described the task of the media as “to select the facts, or to invent them, in such a way as to render the required conclusions not too transparently absurd—at least for properly disciplined minds.” There could scarcely be a nicer encapsulation of his own practice.”

    Manifestly the BBC’s “philosophy” and self-imposed task follows Chomsky’s recommendations.

    John Simpson mentioned it, but Kate Silverton on the News Channel and Lyne himself censored any mention of it while talking about Ghaddafi’s statement to fight against a no-fly zone.  Why?  Because then the BBC and the Left’s utter hypocrisy would be exposed.

    What happened to “No Blood For Oil!”, Beeboids?  Not a single, solitary anti-war activist has been allowed on air to say this.  There have been no protests, no stream of op-eds in the papers, nothing.

    No discussion of this concept on the BBC at all.  Hypocrites, the lot of them.

    Well done Grant Shapps for standing up to the relentless attack on – what else – boodget coots to local councils.  The Government is giving something like £650 million to councils to help them out with the coming tax freeze.  The BBC line:  Labour says that people will “get less for more”, and front-line services will be decimated.

    Every time Shapps said no, that wasn’t necessarily the case, the average council will see only about 4% cuts, and the point was to get councils to cut waste and backroom bloat so they can keep front-line services intact, the Beeboid newsreader kept saying, “That’s not true”, “No”, and “Let me read that (Labour quote) again.”  To his credit, he did it without drama or sarcastic tone or raising his voice, unlike nearly all other Beeboids during interviews, but that doesn’t alter the fact that this was a basic attack agenda fed to him by the BBC News producers.

    The BBC is a Labour mouthpiece. They’re exploring every possible angle to attack the Goverenment on the subject of council cuts.

    The BBC is getting an early word in for the defense of the NPR CEO who just had to resign for making vicious statements about Tea Party supporters and others.  They sat on the story for a couple days, but – once again – reality has forced them to report it.

    The head of US National Public Radio (NPR) has resigned amid a row over a “sting” video showing an NPR executive deriding conservative activists.

    Vivian Schiller quit the NPR board on Wednesday. NPR’s media reporter described her as being “ousted”.

    US conservatives have long claimed NPR bears a liberal bias, and Republicans have sought to cut the public element of its funding stream.

    The service receives about 2% of its budget from the US government.

    I mean, it’s a perfect, succinct distillation of talking points for the defense. It’s a “sting”, so already partially discredited.  The motives of those filming it are biased, so the results can be dismissed – even if it’s true.

    “Conservative activists”, eh, BBC?  We all know that the Tea Party movement is made up of plenty of independents as well as disgruntled Democrats, not exclusively “Conservatives”.  This term of course implies positions on far more than fiscal issues.  But that’s been the BBC Narrative all along.

    Republicans want to cut the government subsidy to NPR, and the defense is quick to point out that the organization gets only 2% of its budget from the taxpayers.  This is meant to head off the inevitable wave of complaints about taxpayer money being used to fund proven politically biased broadcasting.  Why, it’s only 2%, what’s the fuss about, right?  Stupid wingnuts, right?

    There will be more on this, and I can’t wait to see how the BBC defends their fellow travelers.  Especially when they start violating Federal law about non-profits engaging in lobbying.

      UPDATE:  The BBC has just updated the news brief, which now includes some of the controversial statements made by the NPR mandarin.  Notice how the language of the BBC report is still weighted towards the defense, and how very much the exec’s statements match EXACTLY what Beeboids told you about the Tea Party movement for months and months, all of which has been debunked here and elsewhere.

Gary Locke as the new ambassador to China.  This is the same Commerce Secretary that caved in to the Chinese a few months ago over issues of intellectual property rights and sucked up to them to secure business for GE, a big donor to The Obamessiah and whose CEO is now part of His Administration.

    Not big news, as the appointment has to actually be approved, but The Obamessiah’s chief spokesman is a personal friend of Katty Kay, so they Beeboids got the message out promptly.

    So the BBC is making a little noise now about the news that the government has paid out £20 million in negligence claims against the MoD.  Apparenlty over the last several years there have been several incidents of negligence by the MoD resulting in injuries worthy of hefty compensation.  Old and faulty equipment was mentioned, as well as one instance of crap field management.

    It’s important to note that all this money was paid out for claims which took a long time to get through the courts, and are not from the last couple of months.  Why is this important?  Guess which Prime Minister’s name was mentioned, and which one wasn’t.  Hint: One of them was also busted for underfunding the military while he was Chancellor.

    Man, the BBC sure does smell Hague’s blood in the water.  They’re attacking him at every opportunity.  Stage Performer Maitlis was just now hitting John Redwood over the head with statements that Hague’s heart wasn’t into it, Cameron didn’t really endorse him very well, everybody hates him, he really screwed up the evacuation efforts, etc.  I heard the exact same talking points from other Beeboids on the News Channel earlier today, as well as yesterday and the day before.

    Why, it’s almost as if they have a prepared script of questions handed to them by the producers.

Thing is, I have yet to come to understand exactly what was going on over Libya, and until it becomes clearer, for the sake of our national reputation would prefer a more unified front. Even cutting Haig some slack as he can’t really be the only person who concocts ops, pitches and approves them on best intel. A few MoD superstars from the Labour era might still be in there adding their magic to £25 lightbulbs. Or maybe there is a smarter play still unsung?

      The BBC of course, would run over their grannies if Labour told them too via twitter, and drag us all down into their sewer with them.
