For as many years as I can remember, the BBC has propagated the line that the State always knows what is best for us. This is particularly accentuated when the Government is Socialist but the BBC default line is that State knows best. So I was somewhat surprised to hear John Humphrys suggest during this interview that the State should keep its nose out of our business. The subject: The sexualisation of children. Listen to his sneer at “Daily Mail” readers during this. I thought Nadine did alright but you could tell that she was a hostile witness.

What kind of broadcasting consultant gives two hoots about the sexualisation of children?…it sells and stops anyone going any further in debate?
That Humphrys etc take no responsibilty for the consequences is only because it sells-and their kids won`t be getting any night buses,nor getting the States take on the condom curriculum that the bogs churn out for pickup by the duty solicitor.

I don’t really care to hear any opinions on morality or sex from a homewrecker, whether I agree with her idea or not.
But Humphrys is full of it when he says that he’s never heard of anyone who has actually seen padded bras for little girls.
Would be very interested in what “mothers” he has spoken to saying that it was not a problem.
Can`t imagine this old pop chatting down at the school gates with any of the civilians-even ones who can afford the fees.
Rather think Sarah Montague phoned in her “lack of concern”…if it creates more crime, more controversy and keeps them gassing on at their soirees then it`s jobs all round isn`t it?
Wonder if Mardell thought of asking Sarah Palin for her views on this hot topic?
BBC-NUJ hypocrisy in another area: immigration and ‘asylum’.
BBC -NUJ’s Mark Easton criticises Conservative politicians for not reducing, as promised, the numbers immigrants getting into Britain. BUT, Easton’s own political position is more of an ‘open-door’ policy on immigration into Britain. Easton often appears more as a spokesman for immigrant interests, than as someone who wants control and reduction of immigration into Britain.
