I managed about 30 seconds before reaching for the sick bag.
I’ve listened to about 5 mins. I’m sorry, but I just found it boring.
If you listen a bit longer you will realise that the character is nuts, was fired from her job and that her husband had left her years back. They are the rantings of a sad middle-aged woman.
By the way, I am not against characters like this appearing in plays. After all it is art. There are lots of people who think and talk like this and it is not a bad thing to hear these opinions voiced. I hope that the opposite view will sometimes be voiced but I know that it won’t.
I only really object when we hear these sorts of views being passed off unchallenged as sensible commentary on the BBC news.
Shocking – the most offensive bit is of course the fact that this has never happened. Does such a school exist apart from in the minds of the BBC/Guardian comitern?

“They get to ch0ose what is sold in the tuckshop..” MY GOD the horror of it – just think they might not choose the ethically correct free trade carob paste – as dictated by the council education committee. Heads have far too much power as it is: they are free to choose policies that press for cello lessons but don’t. Why is that.
This had to be about the most smug offensive bit of pure BBC bias I have heard in years. “Drama” is always good for BBC fantasies, that explore “issues” – buy why should the BBC not air a drama about an excited group of highly committed parents and local residents setting up a ‘free school that concentrates on extra curricular cello lessons. Lots of scope for conflict with local authority vested interest and union obstruction – internal politics etc. this would be prime territory for a good radio play. I will not bet my mortgage on it ever happening

The schools were once as good and noble as the BBC is still today…but Sky loom large and are scary matron.
This guilt-ridden old bat clearly turned over the tables like Jesus doubtless did when he railed at private synaogue education way back!
That the woman seeks an old pupil to cringe before ,for affecting her life chances-poor kid is only a worthless mum and not a cello player after all-and is still able to rant , yet keep her pension…as well as draw a fine income from the Education Department…sums up all we need to know about the BBCs view on its unearned privilege.
They sure as hell won`t do a damn thing to change anything-for that would lose them power and careers/jobs for life…but they will certainly break down the doors of the plebs so they can get free therapy, and to check on whether you`ve got a licence or not when you are daft enough to leave them alone in your room!
This playwright is the John the Baptist telling us all that the BBC have given up…this white flag of a parable is all we need to know today about the cringeing, bitter, pointless, conscience hawking, truth shredding BBC!
