Anyone catch the BBC 10 News coverage of UNESCO’s decision to recognise the imaginary state of “Palestine”? The reporter was gushing in her excitement, although warning that the US decision to reduce funding may lead to illiteracy in Iraq and Afghanistan.
UNESCO RECOGNISE NARNIA
Bookmark the permalink.
As posted elsewhere , R4 reported that “Israel and the US voted against”, giving the impression that these were the only two.
No mention that Germany, Canada and other countries voted against.
And no mention that the disgusting, spineless, craven UK government abstained.
I have reached the stage where I despise this government almost as much as I despise the BBC. And I have to pay for both of them !

unbelievable reporting….
establishing “new facts on the ground” HELLO
the only thing new here, is that unesco, is now a laughing stock
(science/fact???) AND short of considerable funding
Another railroaded meaningless “fridge magnet” for Abbas es lapel.
talk about empty vessels making the most noise..sheeesh!
“first step” on the road to nowhere…….but unesco are to blame
they need a verbal clip round the ears….not appeaement

Literacy is not a good thing in Islamic countries.
a) They can read the koran and thus the manadatory requirement for violent Jihad
b) Suppressioon of women and treating them ads gfoods, becomec an allah ordinance.

DP111,
Of course a lot of time and effort is spent teaching muslims to read the Koran in arabic, when they could be learning english, the language of science, business and computers. So the cycle of ignorance is perpetuated.
My heart sinks when I go into schools in Gambia and Senegal and see arabic script on the blackboard. Good grief, apart from the Imams, nobody in that part of the World speaks arabic !

So many of these brainwashed juveniles, recite the Koran drone like, you know the majority of them,(and muslims actually) have no idea what theyre saying, how sad is that.
AND thus comes the need for these weirdie beardie throwback imams, to erm…tell them the tale.
I always jump on any so called spokesman, who gaze aloof & cite ignorance of islam as the pot excuse.
Islam is bloody borne of ignorance, perpetuated by ignorance,
& strives to ensure its adherrents remain ignorant of both fact and truth, under threat of violence/death.

and then beggars the question, of those over here who can read
all about the ideals of this ideology, the facism, the subdugation,
the anti semitism, etc, ….
& still make excuses for it
fear brainwashing or both

A lot of them learn the Koran via rote memorization. No reading required. Many outside the Arab World don’t even understand what they’re saying, only what their madrassa drill instructors tell them in their own native tongues.

The bit about Narnia has a bit of a bad taste at the moment.
I saw that the Saudis publicly beheaded a harmless TV psychic from another country(I think!) in Medina mid September-it`s on the web as well as in the Mail etc.
Absolutely awful…but no mention from the BBC, the Government and no megaphone for Amnesty for this…so they`ll wait until another Dale farm I suppose!
Any blending of fantasy/occult stuff from CS Lewis to Pullman/Rowling is obviously a capital offence in the eyes of the Puppetmaster of all things evil in the Middle East.
Where are the Interfaith wallahs suggesting Regents Park Mosque as the next place for the St Pauls lot to camp at…all those oil barons in Saudi…arms …Bahrain…climate change?….anyone tell me why they`ll not be going there then?
Just because Dale Farm “travellers” hide behind the law in order to stay put…surely our Camp Crusties would welcome the chance to share their concerns with the religion of Peace that seem to use too big a sword to shave with( unfortunately).
Kevin Connolly on Today seems to think that Israel needs to offer a few more necks to the Great Swordsman of Medina…hope UNESCO curls us and dies like the saltslimed slug it has now become!
God Bless Israel…the canary of the world, despite the stench around it!

cj,
Exactly ! As I posted elsewhere , why a cathedral and not a mosque ? The Koran encourages muslims to do business, so the muslim capitalists are just as guilty as the christians.

Rather more serious for the UN – rather than one of its agencies – would be if the US stopped funding the UN itself. The US pays about $600 million of the approximately $2.5 billion expenditure by the UN. Obama is not, I believe, compelled to withdraw this funding were the UN to accept membership by the Palistinians. However, since the Republicans are in charge of the House, the financial strings are tied there.
Slinging the rotten crapfest of the UN out of New York would appal UN staff and diplomats. New York is rather more attractive to live and work in (especially tax free and/or on expenses) than, say, Geneva. Actually an even better idea: the US should promote a UN resolution that if Palestine gets a UN seat, the whole shebang should move to Ramallah or failing that, Gaza.

Umbogo,
The problem with Gaza is all the posh hotels and villas are already rented out to the UN and all the other NGOs.
The UN would have to build a special headquarters and dwelling places. Maybe, the EU could fund it.

It would appall the BBC too. Which seems a good idea to me.

Well we will see how long UNESCO survives as the USA is bound under a 1990 law to withdraw funding if a body other than a State is granted membership;
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/middleeast/palestinianauthority/8860951/US-withdraws-Unesco-funding-after-it-accepts-Palestinian-membership.html
I understand that the USA contribution amounts to 22% of all income.
How are other “begging bowl” recipients going to receive the “cuts” to come. Can’t wait for the B-BBC’s reaction to these “cuts”

Lots of people in the US have wanted us to stop pouring money into the UN cess pit for years. This move will only be welcomed by most of us, regardless of any support for Israel. Isolationists hate the UN just as much.

UNESCO has been backing “Palestine” and de-legitimising Israel for some time now.
