Question Time tonight comes from Bath in Somerset.
David Dimbleby is joined by the splendid Daniel Hannan MEP, Chris Huhne (who may or may not be driving there; the CPS can’t decide), a person called Liz Kendall who is apparently Shadow Minister for Old People, the Sainsbury’s CEO Justin King and notorious self-publicist and Wikipedia front-man Jimmy Wales.
It’s a 10:30pm kick off. You know where to be. And how much alcohol to bring.
ROBERT BROWN; For all his eloquence and so-called anti-EU stance, Hannan is driving for Turkey to be a member of the EU, 80 million plus muslims, all with the right to come here if they wish, think about that. He is a fifth columnist. A job with the BBC beckons.

Nonsense.
Hannan’s position is entirely credible. He is saying the EU would be better as a trading block only and should welcome Turkey in on those terms – but that it is up to all parties invovled to do what’s best through demos.
He is absolutely adamant that political union should be ended and only restablised if the demos directly ask for it. He would and does campaign for Britain’s complete withdrawal.
How anyone can think that Hannan is not right-wing, is not a libertarian and is not anti-EU is beyond me…

HANNAN is, along with Cameron and Hague, etc., an active campaigner for the entry of 80 million Muslim Turks into the E.U.
HANNAN is assisting the E.U. to rapidly Islamise Europe, inc Britain.
HANNAN is furthering the political interests of the E.U bureaucracy to develop the federalisng, Islamising project.
HANNAN knows that the E.U. is not a mere trading organisation.
Much of what is written in the following article about Cameron (2010) can also be applied to HANNAN on Turkey:

ROBERT BROWN; ‘foundavoice’, my assertions are, with due respect, not nonsense, but nearer the mark than you think. I respect your input but cannot agree. The un-elected leaders of the EU will never give up their power and schemes unless wrested from them by force, so trying to change from within is fruitless. As for Turkey, it is NOT part of europe and is and always has been Asia Minor, if you accept them, who next?

Nonsense? The EU isn’t just a trading block or likely to become one. If anything, the EU dominant nations and the central institutions are
trying to get ever closer union and the removal of individual nations and democracies.
People who campaing for the entry of Turkey to the EU or to some notional EU that has no prospect of reality, frighten me.

Typo correction: campaign.

If this is so then Hannan is as much pro EU as the rest of them. I am slowly recovering from illness so I will avoid this especially the sight of that Huhne fellow.
The programme is hitting rock bottom now.

Hope you get well soon dave s , yes, probably a good idea not watch the show, bad for the blood pressure! As for Hannan, the traitor is well onto the gravy train, and finds the taste to his liking.

I sympathise. The sight, and especially the sound of that Huhne fellow sicken me. Hope it doesn’t hold back your speedy recovery.

I don’t think he’s a fifth columnist, in this particular area he’s just sorely misguided. He considers that Turkey is still a secular state (he ignored Mrs Gul’s headdress obviously). He believes (on no evidence at all) that Turkey’s accession would give us better relations with Muslim states and with Muslim EU citizens as well as contribute to the diversity of Europe etc etc. The man’s an idiot in this regard and his idiocy is shown in this interview http://www.cfot.org.uk/resources/Interview-DanHannanMEP.pdf

He is dangerous then. Just as much a fantasist as the rest of them but appearing to possess right wing credentials. To most of us it is really simple. You cannot be a true conservative and support the EU in any way. Farage understands this.

I fear he’s, at best, an “in the EU, not ruled by the EU” fantasist. Sad really; he gives a mean speech when he’s riled.

Hannan is probably another one of those naifs who still think that bringing Turkey into Europe would make them feel embraced by the West and turn away from the Islamism of the Middle East. Maybe that would have worked 15 years ago, but not now.

Yes, HANNAN is one of many British MPs and MEPs (of all three main parties) who are actively campaigning for Islamising Turkey to get entry to the European Union (a political project favourable to BBC-NUJ and Patten), so that 80 million Turks can speed up the Islamisation of the E.U. and Britain.

Having seen the state of Turkey’s economy, what on earth could the EU do to entice them to join??? Aha – lifetime overpaid, underworked jobs for the boys. That will be that then……

The Turkish P.M was down in Gosport today.
Some Turkish woman has killed her two kids back home in Turkey, and then killed herself.
The father believes that the Turks have already buried the children, even though she was on the run from German justice…who had given custody to him. Yet she want back home, did that and now seems to have got away with it all.
When Turkey and the rest of the Ottomans agree to fast forward two centuries(and I`m being kind here!)…and join the rest of us in the 21st-then they might get a berth at EFTA…there will be no EU to join by then, please God!

In fairness to Mr Hannan, he did at least dare to mention shale gas – something that both the Beeb and Mr Huhne would rather pretend didn’t exist as it’s all a little too inconvenient to fit the dominant narrative (and vested interests) around AGW. You just don’t hear shale gas – and it’s potential to change everything – being discussed at all on the BBC.
Between QT and Newsnight the other night failing comprehensivley to both put Huhne on the spot regarding his dogmatic AGW-zealotry and the token Greenpeace representative carefully avoiding a direct question from Paxo regarding how much the ‘green tax’ is actually costing every UK household in their energy bills (she was never made to answer the question), I truly despair of the BBC and it’s unceasing bias in these issues.

Shale gas now 30% of US natural gas supply
=> Price of natural gas down 30% in last two years
=> now 100 year supply of nat gas in the US
=> 500,000 new (real) jobs in the industry
=> makes ‘renewables’ look even more ridiculous
What’s not to like.
OK so it’s a right-wing Republcan gas (although I don’t think anyone’s told that to shale gas itself)
So shhhhhhhhhhhh.
