I liked the second comment from the top, from “Alcuin”:
If I wanted the opinions of people who think like this, I would go to the Guardian. I do not pay my licence fee to get soft Left metropolitan discourse, and I object to your correspondents spending time that I am coerced into paying for in blogging their opinions. Please stick to reporting the News – all of it – without opinion, spin, group-think, redaction or spin.
Spot on. That’s the whole point of their existence, though: to give editorial opinion. Reporting is only half of what they’re paid to do, and their opinions inform it and drive it.

Today started with the news that Cameron would be talking about the need for nurses to care more and what have you.
That no-one seems to disagree therefore means that it is no longer a story to run with…so it slips down the running order after the RCN and patient groups “largely welcome” his speech.
Haven`t Andy Burnham or Alan Milburn left their forwarding details for contacting them then?…

I see that BBC 1 are showing a film tonight called The Infidel, about a muslim who discovers his mother is Jewish (which was snubbed by Israeli film distributors for some reason).
It’s curious that’s they’re showing it, given that its author, David Baddiel, has said:
“The BBC has become very morally concerned about anything that might offend so it became clear that they weren’t going to [produce the film].”

NIGERIA.
INBBC’s new political euphemism: Islamic jihadists killing ‘Southerners’, not Christians:
“Deadly Nigeria shooting ‘targets southerners'”
