THINGS CAN ONLY GET BETTER

Ah, you just gotta love Obama. Well, if you work for the BBC you do. Get this;

US President Barack Obama challenged Congress to keep the economic recovery going as new data showed unemployment down to its lowest rate in three years. The unemployment rate dropped to 8.3%, beating analyst forecasts, and was down from 8.5% in December.

Great stuff and a sign that recovery is now well underway. Time to re-elect The One, yes?
Oh, except for this. But hey, the BBC has a unique way of looking at the world!

Ive been reading this blog for at least three years.  It was very good a little while back as it concerntrated on the BBC’s bias. Now its just turned in to another political blog. Every story, no matter how insignificant can find its self here with a twist of anti leftism. Im not Leftie Vance and Co, but really the blog is just getting a bit desperate at times. I think I understand why, but I would still like if the blog returned to its roots a bit more.

Can’t really beat the revised counter by Wild, inspired by Span Owls, below.

But just wondering who that ‘& Co’ is meant to refer to, which I have noticed has been hard to resist in input from infrequent ‘independent’ contributors before.

Sorry if you are unhappy with my posts. Site traffic continues to rise so I guess some people must find what we create here to be quite interesting. Biased BBC benefits from frequent posts as they stimulate debate, but as if often the way, the quality of posts will vary and I am far from perfect! I don’t think your views are shared by most folks here but if they are, I am always happy to turn the writing chores over to others.

(and Co implies the usual posters)  I mean no disrespect by the term.

I wasnt always unhappy David. Your site has greatly helped me understand the BBCs agenda as well as other lefty causes and agendas.  I just feel a good chunk of the articles and opinions now posted are more to do with anti leftism than the BBC’s bias. Yes I know you may think its the same thing and I would agree with you if this were any other political blog.

But this is quite a unique blog in my opinion. As far as I know its the only anti BBC expose around, and I personally find that a valubale resource. When I discovered the site three years ago I really got my eyes opened. But importantly the majority of artucles then were specifically about the BBCs bias.  But over the last year there have been many articles which have little to do with the BBCs bias in my opinion. In fact, I think the eye has been taken off the ball in exposing the corrupt, self serving BBC.
Perhaps your traffic has increased due to expanding the blogs content?
But as I said above this blog imo was/is unique and I now feel that its just turning in to a bog standard political blog.

And no, you should carry on writing. I have enjoyed many of your articles, and all said and done I for one am grateful people like you are exposing the BBC – an organisation which strongly influences the people of this countries political, social, and world views

This reminds me of my efforts with the BBC complaints team.

Sorry to persist, but who are ‘the usual posters’ implied? Vs., one presumes, ‘unusual’ ones.

I just feel’ is of course legitimate, but as I have tried to convey to my Newsnight producer, hardly compelling in face of quoted fact, URLs, etc.

But thank you for your input, which has been noted and will serve to help improve….etc.

MPC: Perhaps you could elucidate those points you are making. I don’t know if the & Co is all-embracing. People write here as individuals and not all are anti-left. And not all individuals here agree with every stance of every other blogger or commenter. I certainly don’t. But in my opinion,  the Beeboid bias is overwhelmingly of the left, so anti-bias comment will coincide with anti-left and there isn’t any opportunity for comment about bias of the right in the Beeboid Corporation.

Sometimes individuals will stray off topic and into their own political opinions – I know I do on occasion – and sometimes the bias perceived in a story may not be expressed clearly or explicitly enough or certain comments may be a matter of opinion which is open to argument.

Maybe it could help if the blog were to sharpen its focus on clarity, making a point of identifying particular types of bias (with maybe a heading to highlight it, e.g. bias by omission; by promoting a recurring party political theme; over- or under-representation of parties; over- or under-allocation of time; failiure to disclose information; stealth editing; discourtesy, tone and attitude, etc) and specifying in what way something is biased: This is bias because a), b), c) etc – although I think the blog by and large does do that fairly well.

Thats what I think but you can put it across much better than I can.  Sometimes I have read an article and simply cannot see a connection between the BBCs bias and the stories content. It just feels at times something is being written just for the sake of it. And yes, your absaloutely correct about the clairity. This is an area I feel has slipped.

Yes, that would be ideal.  But it could mean less articles being written = less traffic? I dont know for sure.

Well, you’ve opened up an interesting topic, MPC. DV does start a separate thread now and then to discuss particular issues and collect thoughts and comments about the blog.

I know what you mean about seeing the connection and some of the time it may be because of the writing style. Bloggers or commenters aren’t professional, trained writers or communicators so on occasion the point of a comment may remain obscure because it isn’t expressed clearly or at all. You will even sometimes see a flypast comment posted that says only, Look at this, accompanied by a link and no further explanation. To me, that’s just inadequate and poor communication which renders the comment pointless.  I am not a fan of the obscure, the wilfully cryptic, the guessing game, the riddle, the coy This in lieu of stating the topic or the This-with-link combo.
Of course there are other reasons too, besides failed communication. It may just be something like personal expression of opinion because we like to vent when we get wound up by all the annoyances that surround us daily on the media and political scene. It’s not surprising that personal comments creep in.

Speaking of clarity(!), I should clarify that I meant expression of opinions, gripes and frustrations with politicians and parties, media, powers that be, etc that aren’t about Beeboid bias as such.

Loathe as I am to say it but I was going to comment what Dez has kindly linked to (barff), even looking at the comments on Zero Hedge (a blog that’s a must for anyone’s favourites by the way) shows the MSM pushing the government line, this in itself is more worrying than me agreeing with Dez.

I will leave you to spot the connection between the political bias of the BBC and the political views expressed here. It is not rocket science. Most people here would be happy for the BBC to exist as just one amongst a number of different broadcasters. What they object to is 1)Its overwhelming dominance 2) Its political agenda 3) Having to be forced to pay for it.

Most of the content of the site comes from comments made on the issues raised. I haven’t noticed much of an input from you, so instead of carping, either go somewhere else, or say what you think should be said, including defending the BBC if you think it needs defending.

      Wild,

Im acutely aware of the BBCs bias. I detest the organisation for what it does to the minds of this countries people. I also understand their political motivations as well as their chums so obviously there should be content showing this. But, imo there are to many hazy articles which only serve the political views of the writer and quite often these days Im left scratching my head as to where the obvious connection is.

But what is the agenda here?
Is it to see the BBC disbanded – move to a pay per view basis or is this a bog standard anti leftism blog? Who is the blog preaching to? I would have thought it should be people like me who only started becoming politically aware a few years ago, or people who havent yet made the connection of the BBC + Leftism. Preaching to the converted is all very well but if we are to see the BBC move to a subscription basis (which is what I want) then I do believe as Millietant says the blog needs a little more clarity.

For me I cannot see this country ever changing or moving away from rampant socialst dogma whilst we have the BBC beaming its propganda in to the populations minds 24/7 365 days per year. The organisation is so powerful I firmly believe it holds the people of this country back because they have quite literally been brainwashed to think a certain way.

Our goal should be the destruction of the BBC in its curent form. Nothing else matters in my opinion. It can be done providing the agenda isnt enveloped by blanket left/right wing politics which will only dilute the agenda.

        MPC4000,

You are correct of course to point out that because the BBC is the broadcasting arm of the Leftist establishment, people will sometimes use the Biased BBC platform to sound off about the Left in general rather than the BBC in particular, but you have to understand that with (pretty much) all of our schools, universities, and 50% of jobs being run by and for the State these days (the BBC just adds to that list) people use this forum to exercise the freedom of speech that is being taken from them in every other area of life.

It is hard be alive at this time and not want to protest about the corruption, greed, and totalitarian nihilism of the Leftist establishment, given that we can see its social effects on anything you care to mention, from falling educational standards to rising taxes (in effect a decision about who should spend your money) from an increase in violent crime to decrease in financial responsibility, and so perhaps you should be a little more more forgiving when people let off steam.

I think that Biased BBC does a pretty good job of drawing attention to the self-serving agenda pushing of Big Brother (the cultural Marxists sent Auntie off to the clinic to have assisted dying years ago) and some of the contributions are truly outstanding.

We are only a few, but we have truth on our side, and we will bring them down in the end.  Not because we claim to know the answers, but because we know that a free society will help us find them.

unemployment goes down,a slight improvement in the economy

While using this White House press release to push the President’s challenge to Congress, they forgot to mention that the Senate is run by His own Party. We get quotes from the top two Republicans in the House, but nothing about Democrats in the Senate. So you can continue to think it’s really about Him trying to save us all, with the nasty Republicans as the horrible obstacle. Reuters did the same thing, but they’re in bed with the President anyway, but they don’t make the same high and mighty claims the BBC does, and nobody is forced to pay for them. The BBC is much more focused on the President’s chances for re-election than the others, except for the separate Telegraph article from a Washington correspondent. And even that’s not painting as rosy a picture as the BBC tries to.

Churnalism means that the BBC is getting it about right.
