FAIR GAME?

I see the BBC have covered Warsi’s comments on a “small minority” of Pakistani men seeing young white girls as “fair game”.  Lots of parenthesis lest we got the wrong impression and how wonderful to read that extensive item without the words MUSLIM or ISLAM getting a mention. That said, Mosques do get a name check but happily the world class BBC journos hit the brakes at that point….

Now when I first saw the report of this story in the Telegraph I was wondering if the BBC were even going to cover it. They have, but as David noted – they don’t use the word Muslim anywhere.

This is not to say that one can’t deduce the fact that it refers to the Muslim community, but given that Baroness Warsi is Britain’s most senior Muslim politician, for her to speak out on the clear ‘racial’ aspect of this incident is certainly relevant.

So why do they omit using the word?
My guess is so it doesn’t appear in any search of the BBC website in relation to this ‘negative’ story concerning Muslims.

However, earlier this year, when she stated “Britain is under threat from a rising tide of ‘militant secularisation’”. In this article the BBC mention her religion twice
‘The Muslim peer said Europe needed to become “more confident and more comfortable in its Christianity”.’
    and
‘Baroness Warsi, who is Britain’s first female Muslim cabinet minister, went on to write: “You cannot and should not extract these Christian foundations from the evolution of our nations any more than you can or should erase the spires from our landscapes.”‘

Sticking up for Christianity – you can be sure for that the ‘fair and balanced’ BBC will mention her Muslim roots.

Shouldn’t that be “Britain’s first female ASIAN cabinet minister”, then? Double standard games are fun, just like Guest Who discovers weekly in his exchanges with the complaints apparatchiks. “We don’t make editorial decisions about our guests.” Until next time, when it’s “We make editorial decisions about our guests to ensure we provide a balance of views over the long term.”

If they really wanted to conceal her roots they would refer to her as being from Yorkshire. I wouldn’t be surprised if they don’t have a list of terms to use depending on the story.
        a) Yorkshire
        b) British
        c) Northern
        d) Pakistani family from Yorkshire
        e) Asian origin
        f) Muslim

“Fazlhashemi, a Muslim, expressed concerns that such outdated mosque representatives benefit Muslim-haters and the far-right Sweden Democrats.
They confirm the negative picture of Muslims. It’s a real shame … ???????
that they confirm of the prejudices that Islamophobes have”
(haters – islamophobes -far right ? sounds just like warsi/el bbc doesn t it, so i guess that ll be that “dont report abusive husbands” is true then ! ) … still nothing to do with islam eh!

but to give illegal advice on …… beatings, abuse, rape etc” so good its nothing to do with islam.

“With hidden cameras and secret telephone recording equipment, two women went to the country’s ten largest mosques to ask for advice regarding polygamy, abuse and sex without consent. Tonight’s Uppdrag, broadcast on SVT, documents that the advice of the mosque’s representatives are often contradictory to Swedish law. … Six out of ten mosques advised the woman not to report the beatings to the police. At one mosque different answers were given, and another mosque gave an unclear answer. Only at two mosques were the woman advised to contact the police. Nine out of ten said that under certain conditions men are allowed to marry several women. Only one said that man cannot do so and that he must comply with Swedish law. The illegal advice to the women was given by imams or Muslim family counsellors. ”

Warsi is deliberately drawing attention away ( although the mention of mosques means that she can deny this if necessary) from the issue of religion after the joint Sikh and Hindu statement explicitly emphasised that it was a case of Muslim men preying on non-Muslim girls. I always thought that with the McPherson report the polce decided they would prefer to be regarded as racists than as people who take kickbacks from criminals (which I suspect was what was really going on in the bungling of he Stephen Lawrence case): it seems Warsi would rather at least some Pakstanis were regarded as racists rather than have Islam regarded as a dodgy relgion.

I don’t get this “fair game” argument. If these dirty scum thought they were “entitled” to rape immodest white women, where are the white middle class victims?. No, these were cowardly scum preying on the vulnerable. I don’t believe the M’s think they have a “license” to abuse women. They are cowardly disgusting scum who hope to get away with abusing women

  5. Teddy Bear says:

To be fair to her, I think she has stated this far clearer than anything the BBC has reported on the subject. If you read the interview as reported by the Evening Standard I don’t get the impression that she’s saying anything that leaves much doubt as to who she sees as responsible.

calls on mosques and community leaders to condemn “a small minority” of their members with racist and sexist views.

“There is a small minority of Pakistani men who believe that white girls are fair game,” she told the Evening Standard. “And we have to be prepared to say that. You can only start solving a problem if you acknowledge it first.”

Her comments follow the horrific Rochdale sexual grooming case, in which a gang of Pakistani men preyed on young white girls. Lady Warsi is the most senior political leader to say publicly that racist and misogynistic attitudes in sections of the community were partly responsible for what happened.

“This small minority who see women as second class citizens, and white women probably as third class citizens, are to be spoken out against,” she said.

“In mosque after mosque after mosque, this should be raised as an issue so that anybody who is remotely involved should start to feel that the community is turning on them,” she said. “Communities have a responsibility to stand up and say, ‘This is wrong, this will not be tolerated’.”

Credit where credit is due – for the mealy mouthed way this subject has been broached – she’s done a good thing here.

You are exactly right. Warsi was very explicit in the front-page Evening Standard piece – this is a Pakistani Muslim problem – and the mosques should face up to it.

It is the BBC that tries to hide or confuse the issue – time after time. I assume there are quite a few Muslims in the news operation who fudge or spiuke these stories – or stupid fellow-travellers who cannot see that community relations are better served by honesty than by lying and cover-ups that play into the hands of BNP etc.

Not to mention the many non-Muslims doing exactly the same – all in a days work at the Beeb. Like you say, the more the BBC treats people as stupid, when a story like this affects so many people, is when they see through the spin and realise then what the BBC are doing.

Slightly off topic but listening to more bias and lies on the world service got me thinking about just how low the b-bbc will stoop to decieve the public.

We all know about the Wailing Hag, the old woman hired for her ability to wail and flail arms, appearing all over the place to tell us that the Israelis bombed her house once again but in a different place each time.

We also know about the now world famous bbc ‘cuddly toy’ which is miraculously seen sitting on top of a pile of rubble, again in dozens of locations, after another imaginary Israeli air strike. The exact same cuddly toy that so many mass murderers are seen to caress and cuddle to try and garner sympathy with bbc news viewers.

But where the bbc and pallywood really excel is the Palestinian funeral. This is where the Wailing Hag really earns her bbc stipend and with plenty of practice and rehearsing has this particular type of wailing down to a fine art.
But despite the best stage management, a top class directing team and a script delivered by Hamas’s finest things can still go wrong.
This particular doctored scene should have been run of the mill stuff for the beeb. A quick dusting down with only the ‘Israeli aggression’ sound bite to dub in and then it’s ready for a prime slot on the 6 O’clock news.

    But……………..

After all these years, BBC’s apartheid radio station , ‘BBC Asian Network’ (which D.G THOMPSON promised to close down), asks itself whether the word ‘Asian’ should be dropped, or whether that would be pandering to Islam’s invented crime of ‘Islamophobia’? Guess the outcome.

This all winds me right up. Baroness Warsi is the Chairman of the Conservative party ffs, surely she has enough character to break the silence about this without being advised by her father.

It’s a deflection anyway, Muslims and their apologists seem to think that claiming “we’re having this debate now” actually means the public will be fooled into thinking that a “debate” is taking place.

We acknowledge the problem. So stop suggesting there is a problem with er men. Political dustpan and brush.

Warsi is useless on so many levels, yet in this case , she is correct.
The “controversial” comments in last nights Standard were as moderate as you could go , given how awful these crimes were.
And in Beebland…where the personal IS political…then Warsis credentials to speak are unimpeachable.
    She is
    1. A woman.
    2. A Muslim woman
    3. A Muslim woman of Pakistani heritage.
    4. A northern Pakistani Muslim woman who was brought up just a bus ride away from Rochdale.
Now normally this would be the royal flush to the BBCs “entitlement aganda”…if anyone would be getting begged to inform us of the actualite, it would be her.
Sadly, she is a Tory…and so would only be an Empire Loyalist bigot who eats the children of the poor…and so she`ll not be on Womans Hour anytime soon.
In the meantime-here`s a test card featuring Vaz, Harman and Ian Blair..who we`ll be asking very soon to enlighten the white chavs about their droolong for free kebabs and vodka slammers.
Got to be a Health Campaign in schools here…
