DISHONEST DOUBT

A Biased BBC reader brings my attention to the latest BBC led Jihad against Christianity..

“If you should want to look into another example of anti-Christian bias at the BBC then look no further than the current 1:45pm slot on Radio 4. Honest Doubt, by former Bishop and agnostic/atheist Richard Holloway. If there’s a criticism of the Church or Christianity that can be made on a subject it will be.. and unchallenged too. If there’s a praise than can be made of something positive about the Church or Christianity on a given subject, don’t hold your breath to hear it.. if there’s two sides to an argument, onlyl expect to hear one. It’s shoddy and one sided and it’s on for weeks!”

    And BBC-NUJ’s anti-Christianity is global.

Its Cairo Bureau acts like a political front for the Muslim Brotherhood, so that Islamic persecution of Christians is censored. Eg. there’s no mention of this:

“Egypt: Women’s rights activist battles rising power of Islamic supremacists”

“BBC treats Christianity differently from other faiths because, as “an established part of our cultural-built landscape,” it is “pretty broad shouldered” ????
Certain .. ahem “other” 😀 religions have a “very close identity with ethnic minorities” who may feel that an attack on their beliefs is “RACISM???? by other means” ????.

well el beeb these ahem … “others” 😀 are entitled believe that, but that … is NOT the truth.
the BBC can believe its not biased but that … is NOT the truth.
Its bias is both institutional, obvious and unforgivable.

as they say on dragnet … 😀
“stick to the the facts, maam, just the facts”

    With never a countervailing force.
There are plenty high grade Christian thinkers who could give good reason for the certainties of their faith.
Despite the doubts, tragedies and struggling with it all along the way-which faith entails.
Astonishingly enough to the BBC, no doubt.

Hence no McGraths, Craig-Lanes and Lennoxes…but plenty Alistair Campbells, Giles Frasers and Richard Holloways.
The BBC seem to like those ones…all heading off to Katmandu being waved off by Father Dougal McGuire!
Hope that they`re not counting this “Pilates Processional” of a series as “religious broadcasting are they?….

I agree absolutely.. it would have been excellent to have an apologist making comments on this show, but nope, they are nowhere to be seen.. and they never are. Whilst I enjoyed Rev G Frazer’s demolition of Prof Dawkins (and who hasn’t beaten Dawkins in an interview!!??) he does seem to be the BBC’s idea of a radical Christian.. ouch.. meaning that if he’s the radical, anyone remotely evangelical must be an associate member of Al Quaeda or something! This is so blatant, the only other CHristian input we get is Alan the vicar (with a Sikh wife of course) on The Archers! THis is not the centre ground BBC, stop trying to make it so.

‘former Bishop and agnostic/atheist Richard Holloway’.
Oh right so he got his belief in god wrong and cannot even decide if he is agnostic/atheist? well I trust his opinions NOT ???

An atheist is a believer, of sorts, in that he believes in nothing i.e. no creator, of any kind. Never hear them asked to explain this belief, do we? ‘So you claim to know what was there before the Big Bang, then, Mr Dawkins…would you like to expand on that?’

I listened to this programme today. It was about differing strands of philosophy (free-will vs. determinism) and was an excellent introduction to the subject without being in any way patronising to those already familiar with the argument.

There was absolutely nothing “anti-christian” or “anti- religious” about it.

Did anyone on this blog (including the OP) actually listen to this programme before criticising it?

But never mind; Mr Vance rings the bell and the acolytes wag their tails.

    Good little doggies!

Actually Dez, I sent the original letter because I have listened to it and have been very disappointed. I hope you’re right that the most recent edition was good, but the point is about a more subtle attack on Christianity that’s ongoing. The edition I heard on Thursday about censorship for instance gave lots of airtime to arguments by Spinoza without any reference at all the many criticisms of his views.. and that wasn’t the only problem. IT does seem that on the BBC in general, Christianity only ever gets mentioned negatively (unless it’s mandatory programming like Daily Service or Thought for the Day.. and less said about that the better) and this series, 30 episodes I believe, is more blatant than the usual. DO you think they’d give 30 15 minute slots to Alister McGrath to explore why he beleives Christianity is true? I doubt it!

I`m guessing that Dez is short for “desperate”.
I was glad to be forewarned about the programme, and so I listened to it.
My response was in anticipation of what the BBCs usual line would be likely to be.
On listening to it, I agree with you believe it or not-yet there are clever people here who won`t agree with me.
But I`d not call them dogs…ever…for if they were Muslim, then they might be coming after you with a Stanley knife.
Cut the abuse eh?…stick to the facts.
I fancy myself as a clever theological type-but found it a decent show, actually.
Others did not-and I`ll be looking into it, because I`m here to learn…cut the postures and abuse and you may yet have something to teach us…but there are no doggies here…that`s that bloody dog whistle reflex of yours, playing tricks on you.
The TV License is the final license that will surely be going the same way as the doggie one.

I listened to it, Dez, and it is shot through with inaccuracies and bias, with that mistress of anti-Christian bias, Karen Armstrong, cheerleading in the background. I would not object to an occasional programme like this, but the BBC will not permit the broadcasting of a coherent statement of the Christian faith on the grounds that it would be “proselytising”. Meanwhile the Devil is given free range to proselytise right across the BBC output.

    NIGERIA.

INBBC touts its political line of ‘sectarian’ violence between Islam and Christianity, where INBBC implies that both sides are as culpable, with the further implication that no particular blame should be attached to Islamic jihad, Boko Haram, according to INBBC’s Mr ROSS (based where?).

Even the INBBC headline excludes reference to Islamic perpetrators:

    ” Nigeria: Gunmen attack churches.”

INBBC, along with most of MSM, routinely whitewashes Muslim persecution of Christians –

Some of the episodes of Honest Doubt have been ok.. but there’s still a clear bias in the show. OK, it’s a polemic, one person’s view of the history of doubt.. but it is rather presented as though doubt is progress and the new world order won’t need faith. And as a previous commenter suggested, would they let Nicky GUmbel do a 30 episode show on how people have come to faith ?? I doubt it. PLus, some of the comments about doubt etc really really need a response from the other side.. if you wanted a well put together show on why, very nicely put, Christianity is a thing of the past and we don’t need it and why the Church is full of badness (and the goodness hardly ever mentioned) then this is the show for you!
