Taekwondo World no 1 and a current European champion Aaron Cook was denied a place in the British team in favour of Lutalo Muhammad, ranked 59th in the world in the weight he is competing in at the Olympics.
Listen to this interview by Victoria Derbyshire (3 mins 40 sec) with Aaron Cook, this is the second she has done. The first was unsympathetic and unfriendly, this second one was exactly the same….she ends by suggesting Cook should get over this, move on and it would make him a better person!
This remember is on the day of the competition at the Olympics when Cook would no doubt be at his most emotional as something he has worked for for 4 years at least, has been unfairly taken away from him….something he will never have a chance to compete in again…an Olympics in his own country.
Derbyshire rubs it in by demanding to know if he will be supporting Muhammad…not a diplomatic question.
Read this from the Mail and it puts a whole new light on things that the BBC don’t want to know:
‘The suspicion is his success — and a tendency to publicise the reasons behind it — makes British Taekwondo look bad and being overlooked for the London Games is the payback.
The personnel on the selection panel are hardly without ties.
There is Hall, British Taekwondo’s overall performance director whose methods Cook rejected. Salim is the high performance coach directly responsible for the -80kg programme and works frequently with Muhammad.
Jennings is one of their coaches, who is also married to Sarah Stevenson, a world champion, operating very much inside the programme. Paul Green is a former international taekwondo athlete once coached by Hall. Peters is a non-executive director.
To vote for Cook ahead of Muhammad would be tantamount to an admission that going outside their programme can produce better athletes.
For what is at stake here is the livelihood of a man. Cook left taekwondo’s private club and made a success of his career and for this he should be denied a goal for which he has worked all his life?’
A selection panel with a great deal of vested interests in picking ‘their’ man.
Here is a BBC pro-Muhammad selection article which definitely comes more from one side than the other.
Victoria Derbyshire was extremely unfriendly and insensitive…a trait she reserves for white, working class people, suspected ‘right wingers’ and Tories who don’t bow down before the multi-cultural, pro-immigration commissars.
I don’t remember Derbyshire ever suggesting to Muslim extremists that they ‘get over’ British foreign policy and ‘move on’ because it would ‘make them better persons’.
Derbyshire never has the stomach to challenge such people and their views accepting them as unquestioningly as valid and based upon credible reasoning….because of course the BBC has the same stance towards the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan as the extremists.
I suppose some of the antipathy could come from the fact that Cook is a white man named Aaron whilst his rival is a black man named Muhammad…but that would just be guessing and probably entirely wrong of me to suggest.
Update: You have to look very hard for this story….hidden away in a small ‘headline’ on the sport page.
All things considered you might have expected it to be on the front page.
‘Lutalo Muhammad did little to silence his Olympic critics after an emphatic 7-3 defeat by Spain’s Nicolas Garcia Hemme in the quarter-finals.’
“but that would just be guessing and probably entirely wrong of me to suggest”.
Hammer on nail me thinks.

Lutalo Muhammad came over very well in his post-fight interview. I hope the BBC doesn’t run with the story that his defeat was all down to the “hate” campaign against him. Let’s see how they handle it.

As predicted Nicky Campbell couldn’t resist bringing the “hate” word into his interview with Lutalo Muhammad this morning. They’re going to hold on to this one tighter than a
British relay runner with a baton.
On the subject of relay runners I was struck (no I wasn’t really!) by the hypocrisy whereby our representative in the womens 1,500 was asked how it felt to be racing against a Turkish runner who came back from a drugs ban to win gold. Not surprisingly she wasn’t too happy about it. Fast forward half an hour and they are brown-nosing our own Dwain Chambers who also came back from a drugs ban to compete for GB. Believe it or not they didn’t ask the rest of the relay squad how they felt about having him in their team.

In fact, today, on their main web page we’ve had pictures of some chav who rides a BMX with a caption remarking her as our best gold medal hope. 6th!!!! Now, the headline is that she didn’t make it. Some (white) guy is about to box for a gold medal, no mention on the front page. Some hideously white female hockey players have just played their hearts out and won bronze. Still no mention. The BBC are filth.

There’s NO lot more racist than the bBC, whos crackpots are utterly convinced we’re all as ludicrously obsessed with skin colour as they are. Whether the bBC like it or not, we have a major problem with a certain religious lot here – NOT a problem with any skin colour!
If I was black, just trying to get on and be like everyone else, the bBC would just fuckin embarrass me!

The BBC really have been pushing the Black Power Movement this Olympics. Also, the huge increase in ethnic minorities in BBC dramas, current affairs and political features has been noticeably immense; there is an all-out subliminal indoctrination agenda abroad within the BBC. The same is true across the whole UK Left-wing, controlled MSM, with Sky News being a repugnant close second in its ethnic minority fawning. And people, before anyone calls me a bigot let me say that I have ZERO PROBLEM with any ethnicity SO LONG as we all live side-by-side NATURALLY! However, I do take issue when the a multicultural agenda is aggressively enforced upon us all by upper-class socialist metro-trendies. It is this prescribed multiculturalism ideology and the Leftist’s stealth indoctrination by way of disproportionately increasing ethnic minorities on our screens that I find repulsively fascist.

Don’t forget ITV News, Alex. I’d easily have that lot “second” rather than Sky. In fact ITV often seems every single bit as biased and putridly leftist as the bBC.

Not surprising as a generation brought up by our Marxist education system – formed in the late sixties -now predominate across the media.

If it came down to a game of tiddywinks between a white man and a bloke called Muhammad, the BBC would invariably be rooting for Muhammad.

It’s a complete stitch up and the fact that Muhammad is now OUT at quarter final stage will leave A LOT of bad feeling.
Read the comments from June when the decision to exclude Cook was announced. Absolute disgraceful decision that has now come back and bitten their arse.

There should be ABSOLUTELY NO REASON (and there isn’t) for excluding the world No.!

should read “world No. 1!”

Proof, as ever, that liberalism is 90% projection. The BBC constantly warns about the supposed dangers of the old boy network, but here we’ve got a classic case of an incestuous bunch of insiders screwing over a talented rebel and they think he’s just being a Mr Grouchy.
Hey, if it was the other way round – and you what ‘it’ is – they’d be making a drama about him, complete with Alan Rickman playing the committe head.
On the plus side we now have a marker put down: the official response to being diddled out of the chance to represent your country in the home olympics is that you should just, like, get over it.
OK, so let’s have no more sob-sister interviews with former policewimminz claiming £1 billion because someone made naughty comments to them.
And that’s goes double for Fearne Cotton.

Link not working, so I can’t tell what Derbyshire’s perspective is. So is it that the better athlete was not excluded in order to include a Mohammedan specifically, but rather just the typical political crap common to pretty much all organizations, sports or not? Yet, extra attention is being paid to this because it concerns defending one?

That’s about it David. It is more the ‘old fart’ scenario because Aaron got himself better training (QED) elswhere. I think to argue that it is becasue of teh other guy’s name/religion probably isn’t the reason, Muhammad is still good, just not the best choice. HOWEVER, as has been mentioned by DJ above, imagine the shoe on the other foot.

TKD is the most absurd ridiculous political erm sport anyway
i posted this, this morning
the absurdly political (correct?) taekwondo assoc, decision not to include excellent world champion/ UK no1/multi title winner aaron cook in the team? … after stating his dismay/disbelief and sorrow at the decision, our al beeb 5live presenter blurts out that the chosen lutalo muhammed had apparently received a death threat? … i was actually waiting for a resume but … it didn t come
he barely beat the 107 in the world and whimpered
out next round, by some quirk-a-sage he has a further chance later …. but he hasn t won that yet.
i hope the 5livers will shut up about him now, sick of hearing it.
I know something Cook would have walked it, with this draw. …. shame on the lot of them

Sporting achievement is genuine but in the hands of the agenda-driven liberal/multicultural narrative its about something else. The Jamaicans are great runners. Tells you nothing about living in the UK. Where is the South London mouth-to-mouth crack dealers relay? Here, we have another African rapist loose again according to local papers, attacking white girls by preference it seems. Is he a fast runner too?.The west Indian single muvvas are still bleeding us dry, as are the open-door Commonwealth new arrivals with four or five kids wanting state school places at £6k a year.
I haven’t seen a product advertisement in three months that doesn’t feature ethnic faces, yet we are a country still of 90% white British. Enforced multiculturalism is a signpost to racial conflict, not harmony. Those on the left that delight in name-calling “Wacist” should look in the mirror more often. They are hideously white.

Still waiting for that 5 minute feature to explain why he failed?
oh dear…nothing yet?

To be fair it’s not his fault. The blame lies with the British Taekwondo team selectors.
It’s amazing that they have impunity to pick who they like, even ignoring the best qualified whereas the Track and Field selectors were not allowed to ignore drug cheat Dwayne Chambers. Although they wanted to leave him behind therelevant international sporting body did not allow them to pick and choose even for a good reason.
It really annoys me that these cheats have been allowed to come back and win medals (at least three of them that I’ve noticed – one was done twice apparently). The line “Cheats Never Prosper” is baloney – cheats unfortunately generally prosper.

Moritasgus, this post and most of the comments were written before Muhammad was given a second chance after being beaten in the quarter finals (via repêchage because the Spaniard who beat him went on to the final)
bronze is excellent…still doesn’t change the disgrace of the selection.

no it doesn t, it could easily have been gold, as cook is one hell of a champion,
and with that particular draw 😀
i hope he s around next time, and those selectors are not

Whichever way you try to spin and defend this – which in your case I suspect is from a leftie social engineering point of view – choosing somebody ranked 59th in the world ahead of the world’s number 1 is lunacy of the highest order.
However in the case of the selectors, it seems throwing toys out of pram took precedence over plain common sense, rather than them having any PC-driven motive.

Date of that article: June 1. Not like there’s been much going on the world of sport since then, eh, Alan?

As per my comment before, I’m sure the “being beaten in the quarter finals” story WAS hidden but has since changed due to repêchage.

Yes, SO, Alan was originally linking to http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18293446 at that point. Hence my comment.

This stinks and there is no excuse. The interview was designed to ridicule the British No 1 and ended with the sarcastic comment “the British people will make up their own minds”. Well yes we will but what we think doesn’t seem to matter to the BBC anyway and we have no voice that speaks for us (the 90%) other than this, and an increasing number of blogs like this.
For clarification in my view the 90% of us is nothing to do with our skin colour, the Olympics have proved this, but it is to do with the good old British need to believe in and see fair play, particularly in sport. I have been delighted to see all of our athletes participate and compete at the highest level and am proud of all of them, whether they win or not and no matter where they or their parents came from.
However we the 90% are dismissed by the elite of our mediocre media with the slur of being “right wing” and therefore of no consequence but perhaps the mist will clear from their eyes eventually when the Religion of Peace stamps Sharia law over the Salford Palace of Truth and Ms Derbyshire is told to wear a niqab or be stoned to death in the courtyard.
Despite being rightly upset Aaron was quietly spoken and did not bite back at what was tantamount to an implied racist line of questioning by Derbyshire. The interview reminded me very much of a Tommy Robinson interview where slick aggression is used by the interviewer when reason fails.
By the way good to see the blog back up and running OK. I hope you do not see Mark Thompson grinning about our problems again. However do beware of the smiling enemy.
