Living The Dream

Listening to BBC #Radio4 Pick of the Week including a #Gaza piece: a reminder of what fantastic material the BBC turns out week in, week out

Yes….This is what he reported (as near as I can remember….no link…R4) this morning after Palestinians attacked Israeli forces, injuring 4 troops…….

‘Israeli tanks have fired shells into Gaza and caused casualties….this came after an exchange of fire with Palestinian militants.….Israeli shells landed near a funeral tent and may have caused civilian casualties…..earlier militants had fired a missile at an Israeli jeep.’

Is it just me or would you get the impression that it was maybe the Israelis who started all this…..and that the missile attack was an entirely separate affair?  Like the nice touch about the funeral and ‘may have caused’ civilian casualties.

Here is the hard copy from a  different BBC reporter:

http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/64064000/jpg/_64064715_8lflz9nz.jpg

A Palestinian house destroyed by the savage Israeli response to Palestinian freedom fighter’s liberation activities.

‘Six Palestinians have been killed and more than 20 injured in a series of clashes close to the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip.

Hamas officials said Israeli fire had killed five at a funeral in Shijaia, near Gaza City. An Islamic Jihad member died in a separate Israeli air strike.

Israel said it was responding to a missile attack on an army patrol that injured four Israeli soldiers.’

They eventually get to the Israelis being attacked.

Oh..but look…on Jon Donnison’s twitter feed someone has posted the truth:

Amir Mizroch@Amirmizroch

Hamas not taking on Iron Dome. Firing shorter rockets, mortars also targeting almost all IDF activities along Gaza fence. Per @galey_zahal

To be fair Donnison tweeted the attack on the Israeli vehicle….but that didn’t seem to effect the drift of his report to radio…which most people would hear and not see his tweets………and nice to see we’re not the only ones thinking the BBC is biased….Palestinian supporters do as well…..

Jon Donnison@JonDonnison IDF: 4 Israeli solider injured in Gaza violence. Hamas sources say at least 2 killed, 20 injured.

Jon Donnison@JonDonnison #IDF sources: a number of Israeli soliders injured after Pal militants in #Gaza fire missile at army patrol.

To be honest the Pals must be trembling in their beds worrying that their friend, the BBC, is under such scrutiny and attack. If the BBC balances its clear bias in the ME the Pals will have lost their most powerful friend.

I think you’ll find that the Palestinians most powerful friend is the EU.
From EU Europeaid “Palestinians Financial assistance to the Palestinians dates back to 1971 when the European Union made its first contribution to the budget of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for Palestine Refugees in the Near East. Since then, the European Union became the largest provider of development aid in the occupied Palestinian territory. From 1994 to the end of 2011, the European Union committed approximately €5 billion in assistance to the Palestinians through various geographical and thematic instruments. The overall objective of European Union support is to ensure the creation of a viable, independent and democratic Palestinian State living side by side in peace and security with Israel and its other neighbours.

Andrew, I am sure you are right in monetary term (after all Arafat’s wife didn’t live in the whole floor of a Paris hotel on money her husband had earn’t.

What I meant was more overt, telling the story, fighting their corner, propaganda type friend.

Here’s what the bBC don’t tell you about that tank fire:
    It was 4 shells.

In response, the jundies in Gaza fired back 25 missiles.

And how did this all start?
The Jundies fired an anti-tank Missile at a jeep on the Israeli side of the border.

It seems one bunch of peaceful muslims are really happy that Obama got elected, knowing full well he won’t do anything to protect the jews. Hell he wouldn’t even save his own people in Libya.

“Hamas not taking on Iron Dome. Firing shorter rockets, mortars also targeting almost all IDF activities along Gaza fence. ”

There’s news that Hamas has got hold of an multi-tube MRLS launcher thus taxing Iron dome. Hence the IDF having to use air strikes in which to take them out. Of course to the bBC this is a human rights violation.

I keep on telling you, the day I get diagnosed with cancer is the day I go postal down at the bBC. At least inside prison I will get better care than on the NHS.

Honest Reporting makes the correct observation that ‘shoddy journalism’ at the BBC has finally led to the resignation of the director-general, although this shoddiness has been recognised on their anti-Israel reporting for years without redress.

Where in the world can 80 rockets and mortars be fired over a 24 hour period at any nation without it being reported as news, that is, until the victim nation responds? No prizes for guessing the answer.

So the BBC tells us, and still not updated since the morning to reflect the total number of rockets and mortars fired today.

Note too in the opening paragraph ‘Six Palestinians have been killed and more than 20 injured in a series of clashes close to the border between Israel and the Gaza Strip.’ is recorded as fact, when it has to be what the Palestinians claim.

or A 13-year-old Palestinian boy was killed as militants clashed with Israeli soldiers in Gaza on Thursday.

Yet whenever the BBC writes about what happened in Israel it is always accompanied by:
Israel said it was responding to a missile attack on an army patrol that injured four Israeli soldiers.
According to Israeli sources, more than 50 rockets have been fired from Gaza towards Israeli border towns since Saturday night.

Later, an Israeli soldier was hurt when a tunnel blew up near the Gaza border fence, the Israeli military said.

Not to mention no comment about just how a 13 year old boy was present while militants were combating Israeli troops, or that since when did Hamas need an excuse to fire rockets before?

Can anybody genuinely claim that this is balance and impartial?

Can the BBC take the piss any more than that?

Update (Not to found at the bBC)

Since Saturday morning over 100 Missiles have been launched into Israel. In return Israel has conduct 6 airstrikes and fired 4 tank shells. According to the bBC, Israel is at fault.

Of course the aim of Hamas is to get Israel to invade Gaza and thus get Turkey/Eygpt and possibly Syria to turn on Israel.

Further to my last the bBC has this to report:
“”Targeting civilians is a dangerous escalation that cannot be tolerated. The resistance has the full right to respond to the Israeli crimes,” Fawzi Barhoum said in a text message sent to reporters, the Associated Press news agency reports.”

Says the ISlamic terrorists who have just launched 100+ missiles into Israel. You’d think that if Israel really took her gloves off they could kill more than 5 people with 6 airstrikes. But for some reason the so called defence experts at the bBC cannot explain how the most powerful military in the region with a captive population of over 1.2 million in a barrel hasn’t killed 100 times as many people as they have. (You know like they are doing in Syria)
The bBC the reason Anti-Semitism is rife in the UK

Interesting to see that the so-called fringe, well-organized Israel supporters are concerned only that the BBC doesn’t make it clear who started it and are playing down , while those who complain that the BBC is pro-Israel are upset that the BBC reports that Palestinians are anything but innocent lambs.

This is what the BBC uses to prove that they get it about right because they get complaints from both sides. The BBC has very little credibility on this score.

Here’s the text of the email I sent to ‘haveyoursay’ at the BBC on 22nd October following a report on BBC World News.

‘On the news broadcast this morning on BBC there was a brief item on the lines that Israelis had launched an air attack on Gaza resulting I think, in the death of one person, with others wounded. This was followed by your
saying that the attack was as a result of what was said to be a rocket attack from Gaza.

It seems to me that the order of these events as presented by the BBC portrays the Israelis as the aggressors, and casts doubt on whether there
was a rocket attack from Gaza, with the use of the phrase ‘said to be’.

If this had been reported accurately, it should have started with the report of the rocket attack, and followed by the response to it.

If there had been no Israeli response would you have reported the rocket attack? Do you habitually omit mentioning them, unless there is a response?

By reporting it as you did you have shown partiality and bias against Israel.’

And here is one I sent on 24th October.

‘I notice the BBC 24 news is not mentioning the Hamas rocket attacks on Israel.

Sky is, and have had a strap line running for the last couple of hours, as they will know. I assume Sky have their facts right.

I think it is more important than the theft of birds eggs, to which BBC 24 is giving great prominence.’

Further examples of the policy of the BBC and its implimentation by reporters and editors. Do we all send off complaints, and urge our friends to do the same?
