WE ARE SPARTACUS

I’ve noticed the BBC giving Baroness Grey Thompson a soapbox to attack Coalition moves to reform Disability benefit. She was on Today again this morning and allowed a free run. It seems that having a disability means never having to be challenged on your views on Welfare. This is part of a broader campaign by a group called We are Spartacus – a group given a VERY sympathetic hearing here by the BBC. The one group one never hears much from is the taxpayer expected to fund all of this.  I suppose when the BBC is energetically pushing the meme of heartless and savage Tory cuts, why worry about balance?

Yes, you`ve got one of the claws of the BBC crab for this morning.
The other one that did its pincer movements upon all things Tory was the National Pensioners Convention-who were banging on about pension reform.
Would this lot of “campaigners” possibly be linked to what Jack Jones and Rodney Bickerstaffe were heading up back in the last decade before the Tories were left with the bills?
In any event, does anybody remember them saying anything about how pensioners were treated by Shipman, by Mid-Staffs whilst good ole Labour were at the helm?
She was allowed a free run eh?…exactly what these new Tory criteria are intended to check for! (arf arf!)

I’ve noticed that inspite of the success of the Para Olympics There has been no increase in gym membership for those with handicaps. Could this be that if they joined a gym they would lose their benefits?

You must have missed the piece on BBC news the other night. The reason there has been no uptake of sport by the disabled is because (according to the disability lobbyist they interviewed) ‘the government aren’t providing the funding.’

Most readers and contributors to this site believe that the BBC is enormously biased in favour of the liberal/left establishment and will do all in its considerable power to oppose any reforms sponsored by the Tories and to influence the next election in favour of the Labour party.
The evidence of this bias is overwhelming to anyone who looks objectively at the output of the BBC. This site should be applauded for highlighting some of the bias on a daily basis. But the liberal/left bias runs through almost all of the BBC’s vast output. BBC programming for children and schools is a serious concern as it smacks so much of indoctrination. Slowly but surely over the past 30 years this bias by the state funded broadcaster has changed the politics and society of the country. Indeed the Tories can hardly govern the country such is the ferocity of opposition orchestrated by the BBC to any reforms they seek to implement. All this is non democratic of course but the liberal/left establishment don’t care about that. Most of the people don’t even suspect that they are being manipulated.
But to me the greatest puzzle is why the Tories have allowed the BBC to accumulate such power over the years and why they haven’t used the recent scandals at the BBC to at least try to cut the beast down to size. With each passing year the power of the BBC grows and the views of the British people unwittingly become more closely aligned with those of the BBC’s chums in the liberal/left establishment. I think that the Tories have made a massive error in not tackling the BBC bias over the years that will cost them and the country dear for generations to come. They have let their supporters and the country down.

if you look at the currrent Tory party leadership you can see the scale of the problem.
Not only have they rolled over and accepted the liberal left view of human affairs but are actively working to advance it.
All of which begs the question were they ever conservative?
Such people will not challenge the views put forward by the BBC/Guardian left because they really prefer them.
Nothing demonstrated this more clearly than the gay marriage proposal.
Pure social engineering and as deeply a non conservative policy as one could find.
Add to that the real hostility to selective education and to married couples tax breaks and the so called Conservative party is shown to be nothing of the sort.
They will also ensure that our voice is silenced when it comes to Europe.
The liberal left did not only capture the BBC but higher and lower education and pretty much the entire state machine. There will be a counter revolution but that is still some time away.
Meanwhile the left will continue to dominate until the money ,as always, runs out.

‘The one group one never hears much from is the taxpayer expected to fund all of this.’
As with various settled science issues, presumably by being such a perceived minority now, those left generating wealth who are expected to pay for funding (often uniquely) those (often wealthier) who are there to talk about things are seen as undeserving of such a voice?
If actually accorded actual minority status, the BBC would doubtless find ways to fail to cover this group still.

You got me thinking Mr Who!
Seems to me that there is ONE pressure group-ONE potential campaigning and militantly advoating group that presumes to speak for its members that is NEVER consulted by the BBC or those liberal lefties that need a few poor stiffs to surf upon.
It`s a group that I`ve now established in my head…I perceive it to be the One True Voice of this pressure group…I`m its head, boss and rep for the moment, but feel we ought to institute it.
Yes folks-the United Licence Payers Alliance…
We`re sick of the BBC stroking Commies like Aaronovitch, Jacques, Campbell(B) and the like…I reckon our logo should have Joe MaCarthy facing one way-and Mary Whitehouse facing the other!
Now then-speed dial the creeping BBC-ULPA will stick it up their jumper!
I am all Spartacus now innit!

Doublethinker says: “All this is non-democratic of course but the liberal/left establishment don’t care about that.”

That made me wonder and; yes of course the BBC is non-democratic. How could any organisation that gets its funds by force even consider democracy as being a positive thing. They do not and will never support democracy, it would undermine their very existence.

Secretly they are a Plutocracy (ruled by the wealthy), going on towards a Socialist Corporatocracy (where corporations control the direction and governance of a country). With a 4 billion pound income how could they be anything else? They will always favour large nationalised corporations rather than democratically elected governments, even one’s that pretend they are of the left, and we know how they love unions and charities, especially those run by corporate managers. You know the ones, those on £200,000 plus salaries.

The question is are they of the “liberal/left establishment”? This is a different and perhaps we should consider for a moment that “liberal/left” is an oxymoron. To be liberal one’s ideas should be founded on ideas of liberty and equality (now’t to do with Cleggy’s lot by the way) and that sits easier in my book with Democracy. Whereas the Left are by nature control freaks and better suited to Mr Stalin’s, Mr Mao Tse-Tung’s and Herr Herman Van Rompuy’s utopian nightmares.

The fact is that the BBC is absolutely non-democratic, it may make a fuss about election nights and “put on a show” but it’s heart is not in it. Do they trust their customers to buy their service? Of course not so why would they trust the ordinary men & women in the street (plebs) to vote for their leaders? They do not.

As to why the Tory’s will not sort them out. The answer is the same. They are also absolutely in favour of nice big corporations and the big fat salaries that go with them and so of course are the Labour fat cats. Once in power they all take their 40 million pieces of silver, don’t they Tony?

On another disability piece last week on the news at 10 our intrepid reporter opined that there are 10 million people in the country who could be classified as disabled. Yep, that’s 1 in 6.

The disabilty lobby is extremely powerful and the BBC seem happy to give them full rein to broadcast their stats and demands without challenge. We have a disabled member of the family who does very nicely indeed, including a new car every 3 years and two holidays a year (one of which is in a villa with pool). Like any other welfare spending, it needs a good looking at but don’t expect any ‘world-beating investigative journalism’ from the BBC on it anytine soon.
