The BBC has used licence fee payers’ money to buy the silence of more than 500 staff with payouts of up to £500,000 each
Never mind the £300,000 spent concealing the inconvenient findings of the Balen Report….which reporters would have received pay offs along with their P45s if that had been published?
Apart from being rabid facists they also appear to be criminals. Is this not a strong case in itself for the deletion of the BBC .
Further, since a state funded broadcaster almost commits acts of treason in it’s overall derision of Britain and support of it’s enemies, should such an institution ever be allowed now or in the future?
When it comes to ‘transparency’ the BBC is like a black hole, not merely blocking light, it actively sucks it it.
A good analogy – black holes with their massive gravity bend the light near them, distorting the real picture.

Is it just my impression or is the BBC now in the news (nearly always for the wrong reasons) on a fortnightly – if not quite yet weekly – basis?
The BBC is facing two and possibly three select committees in the coming months, so its going to get significantly worse.
These really are incredible sums of public cash the bbc has been handing out to staff. An indication of how out of control the whole public sector has become.
Ay least the bbc is starting to lose its ‘sacred cow’ status.
Would love to see someone with the time and technical ability organise an online licence fee boycott campaign !
Hopefully this will encourage more people to resist BBC bluster and join the increasing numbers that have told the BBC they are not wanted. Money Saving Expert website has this item:
“Over 400,000 households have told the BBC they do not need a TV licence because they only watch catch-up TV, they only use it for games or they just don’t watch programmes at all on any device. The figure comes from a Freedom of Information request made by The Times newspaper.”
That’s some £58m that is not being spent on hiding behind self-serving gagging orders or wasted on Entwhistle pay-offs, Digital Media Incompetence and old classics such as this Daily Mail article:
“Licence-fee payers have been left to foot a £4,500 bill for damage to a Brussels house rented by BBC foreign correspondent Mark Mardell. The Corporation has agreed to pay for scuffed floors, broken fixtures and the eradication of a ‘peculiar smell’ – thought to have been caused by his family pets, which include a pair of rats.“
How could I have missed this? Astonishing, but not really, that you all were forced to pay not only Mardell’s fat salary (easily over £100K per year for a titled editor), but his 36K pa rent as well. Can we assume you’re also footing the bill for Mardell’s house in a leafy Maryland suburb, which is probably even more expensive?

All that money so you can hear White House talking points, blame shifting, Left-wing political analysis of how various events might affect the President and His agenda, and that I’m a crypto-racist, and still end up woefully uninformed or misinformed about key issues. Your license fee hard at work.

Don’t forget the BRIBERY – paying someone to refrain from telling the truth. Gagging orders are morally appalling, preventing the truth coming to light. They need to be challenged on a very broad basis, wherever they are being used – everywhere these days, it seems.

“The BBC has a department dedicated to dealing with FoI rquests and it told us it cannot give us the total figure for the last fifteen years because the BBC’s Employment Law Department central database only records what it calls ‘relevant data’ from April 2005 and BBC HR does not keep a central record of the data we asked about.”
“It added that providing the information we requested would involve manually going through personnel files and that would take in excess of 2 and a half days thus, under section 12 of the Freedom of Information Act, it is allowed to refuse to handle our request.”

In other words, this sounds mostly like it’s about ordinary staff not liking the way people like Paxman and Derbyshire treat them. Shouting at the researcher? Oh, the humanity. Not much exciting news in the end, probably. Another “we’ve looked into it, lessons learnt, now go away and leave us alone” report.
Robin Page’s article in last Saturday’s Daily Telegraph was illuminating. Country file did a couple of interviews with people who run hedgehog sanctuary’s and the like.
Both of the experts cited loss of habitat and road kills for the decline from some 30 million down to about one million in the past 10 years.
Page believes the decline is in large part due to badger predation, and he makes an excellent case for this.
He was surprised that one of the experts whom he knows, did not mention badgers during her Country file interview and rang her up to discuss it. She confirmed that she HAD mentioned badger predation several times but it had been EDITED out to comply with the badger friendly culture currently gripping the BBC!
This should be investigated, a full disclosure made on the next Country file, and those responsible sacked.
The BBC looks like a microcosm of the state these days . Both are staggering a bit. Years of liberal left unreality has taken it’s toll. The peasants are no longer so docile and no longer believe either the honeyed words of the BBC or the increasingly unreal statements and promises of the government . As for the bureaucracy it is a byword now for self indulgent incompetence. Perhaps this is how it always ends. Not in tyranny but incompetence.
Reform looks impossible now. What to do is the question but the nation deserves better than this.

It appears the BBC will go to any lengths to protect their ‘reputation’ – unsurprising except to the ignorant among us. Most here already know that this behaviour is typical for this corporation judging by how so much of its output reflects this dishonest, immoral and unethical mindset.
Bear in mind people found illegally avoiding paying their
licence fee can face fines of up to £1000 or even a jail sentence. I wonder how any enlightened beings in the future will view this period in our history.
Since one of the people offered a bribe of silence was Miriam O’Reilly, I wonder how she can still be so blinkard to state:

She obviously knows now from her own experience that the BBC IS NOT honest, true and supportive of freedom of speech, but she’s happy to go on working for them and spreading the myth.
I should add that though she turned down a 5 figure sum for her silence, she pursued her case in the courts and it’s reckoned she received a 6 figure sum, and a 3 year contract.
Since the £28M paid out doesn’t include an additional sum for legal advice for the BBC and employees or other benefits such as health cover, counselling and training, the legal advice she got obviously told her she can get more by taking it to court.
