The apology doesn’t actually address the idea that Jews are all European invaders who should be expelled but grumpy old women especially dead grumpy old women get some leeway.
I suspect that reaction to her anti Israel stance was largely a way to remove someone who had held a position too long. Fortunately for us she wasn’t younger. She would have fit right in to the BBC, perhaps keeping Mishal Husain out of a job.
