SRI LANKA BAD…

You do have to contrast the BBC’s unremitting hostility to the Sri Lankan Government (which defeated the Tamil Tiger terrorists) with is fawning over other far from ideal administrations such as South Africa. Cameron is, sadly, playing along with the meme so allowing the comrades to push as much poison as possible the way of Rajapaksa. It’s almost as if the BBC regrets that the Muslim Tamils were beaten by the elected government….

President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his government and miliatry’s actions has pretty much won Sri Lanka’s War on Terror. In any war there will be abuse and questions asked and it is almost impossible to not oppress some people’s human rights. That said, now the Tamil’s themselves can prosper more too and are included in Rajapaksa’s words:

“We in Sri Lanka are stepping into a new era of peace, stability and premium economic opportunities…
“In ending terrorism in 2009, we asserted the greatest human right: the right to live.”

I could hardly believe my ears when I heard a headline on Today which referred to a speech by the Sri Lankan prime minister or whoever. The speech apparently mentioned the Tamil Tigers; reporting what the prime minister had said about the “civil war”, the BBC man’s report on this was along the lines of “fighting what he [prime minister] referred to as ‘terrorists’ “.

So the BBC were quite clearly saying, here, that the Sri Lankan Prime Minister was wrongly or unfairly referring to the Tamil Tigers as terrorists.

    Really??!!

The Tamil Tigers were some of the most brutal, bloodthirsty terrorists the world has ever known. And yet the BBC is dissembling for them. Indulging in revisionist denialism.

But let’s not make value judgements, eh?

    Tamils are mostly Hindu.

Very basic error that undermines the blog’s credibility and will be lapped up by the weekend Flokkers.

You’re right. India has long backed the Tamil separatist movement so their absence should be taken in that light. Didn’t hear that bit of context from the Beeb though…

I might be mistaken but i think India Pakistan Nigeria Kenya and UK have a bigger terrorist problem than Sri Lanka does. After the mess that is Iraq and Afghanistan its great to see our Prime Minister go out to Sri Lanka and lecture them on how you deal successfully with an insurgency and bring peace.

It’s almost as if the BBC is reporting on allegations of serious human rights abuses.

But then Mr Vance is in favour of giving medals to those who execute the unarmed and dying. How very Christian of him.
