    “BBC ‘blundered’ on immigration”

    [Excerpt]:-

“Nick Robinson, the BBC’s political editor, has criticised the corporation for making a “terrible mistake” in censoring concerns over immigration for fear that it would stir racism.

Robinson said that senior figures in the BBC had believed that having an open, uncensored debate about immigration would “unleash some terrible side of the British public”.

“They feared having a conversation about immigration, they feared the consequence,” he said in an interview with The Sunday Times this weekend.

The result was that the audience’s concerns about immigration suppressing wages, threatening jobs and leading to racial and religious tensions were not reflected by the BBC.”

That about sums up the BBC’s patrician contempt for the British public in general and the white working class in particular -We cannot be trusted ,given our head we will be pushing black and brown people in the cattle trucks in no time. A view amply demonstrated by many (one drunken oaf in particular) BBC apologists who post on here.
In fact they are projecting their own insecurities .Fearful of their own sub-conscious motivations and unsure of where a collapse in their received faith will take them.
But this latest admission will make no difference. The BBC’s attitude, like all fundamentalists in face of doubt, will be to respond with even greater exultations to stamp out heresy and even more hysterical condemnations of non-believers.
Just as we have seen them reacting to the crumbling edifice of AGW

This is totally supported by what a (former?) BBC producer who used to engage with us here under the alias “John Reith” told us, over and over. Shut up with your concerns, he told us. We’re trying to do Social Cohesion and you’re not helping.

And recently DB got Hugh Sykes to admit the same deliberate censorship.

This site has been 100% correct about BBC bias on this issue all along. Defenders of the indefensible and lurking and non-lurking journalists need face facts.

Facts have nothing to do with it, they are as aware of the bias as any one. The point is they approve of it.

I’ll try and cut & paste when I get to the Mac (iPad doesn’t seem to like them), but there is a truly dire BBC World ‘News’ post just up on FaceBook by one of their hordes of 24/7 content void fillers, that is getting rightly slaughtered.
It’s about a Qatari hotel’s gold and diamond bars of soap.
Now, if this had some sense that there was a slight disconnect at play, it would maybe have value, but the way it is written is like some gushing commercial. I can only assume the author was swung a deal to make nice.
Too often the BBC goes down the promotional route and World ‘News’ more often than not. Is it even more uniquely funded still? Mind you, the domestic fare pushing very narrow luvvie areas of interest (or their mates’ business interests) domestically is not far behind.

BBC World News shared a link.

It’s infused with gold and diamond powder, and a single bar of Qatar soap will cost you $2,800. It’s produced produced by a family-run business in Lebanon might make you think twice about washing too often.

Subscribe to the official BBC NEWS Youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/bbcnews
It’s produced (twice, it’s so good), so that’s OK then?
‘Live the story’ BBC? At $2800 to scrub up in the shower, only employees of our least trusted national disgrace could afford it.
At least the youtube channel being pushed offers a subscription option. Given the content (via CCTV? What is that? Some product placement agency for sheik toy products?), I’ll give that a miss. At least in this case I can.

Awesome. Way to dumb down the only part of the BBC that people actually trust these days. The only reason people around the world think the BBC can be trusted, and the only defense the BBC ever has is that it can be the only broadcaster in certain countries reporting stuff that might make the local government look bad. So now they’re thinking of dumbing that down? More female-friendly fashion stuff is what they think will work? What, the latest trends in burqa beachware? Maybe I should be grateful that this would mean less anti-American segments.

Shut it down entirely, then, and replace it with equivalents of BBC America, a commercial channel which shows the most commercially viable BBC properties alongside a lot of ITV and C4 properties. No news at all anymore, since they cut BBC World News America down to half an hour and dumped it off on a few PBS stations. It would be much, much cheaper to run, and they’d make a lot more revenue off it. And think of how it would give even more impetus to all those countries who like to license BBC properties and make their own versions.

BBC Global News Ltd. lost only 800 grand last year? That’s champion stuff compared to the massive hemmoraging of the mother ship. Honestly, they should make make that controller DG. They really have lost all sense of anything except ratings and money and power. You just know the Beeboids are blaming nasty Tory Cutz (i.e. license fee freeze) for them having to absorb the expense of the World Service, even though Worldwide profits could cover the whole thing.

What bothers me about this BBC report on the female ‘heroines’ of the PKK? Who are the female fighters of the PKK?

    1) There is no acknowledgement that all parties (Turkish, Kurdish, Iraqi) are Muslim and the restrictions on women stem from that.
    2) There is no acknowledgement that the PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by several states and organizations, including NATO, the United States and the European Union.
    3) Jihar Gor talks about the Iraqi-Kurdish border. Just where is that exactly? The Kurds in Iraq are an autonomous region within Iraq. They are a parliamentary democracy and I don’t believe the PKK is represented.
    4) The Marxist background of the PKK is ignored.
    5) Just who is the resistance against? If the answer is Turkey then the whole complex history is ignored. The Kurds in Turkey are Turkish citizens while the Kurds in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region are Iraqis.
    6) Not for the first time the BBC makes nice with groups whose activities are illegal in the country they operate.

As with so many BBC reports one is left with a very mixed up idea of what is going on.

Well, one presumes that from the flower bed acreage of the cubicle farms, Mobeen Azhar thought it a story worth telling.
Thing is, like the gold & diamond soap bars being pushed earlier today, it all rather comes across less as reporting and more commercial promotion, down to the BOGOF special deals and rack rates. Maybe Mo, like that £300k top floor talent and her coffee bar sideline, sees a parallel career blooming posting cards in telephone kiosks on behalf of his new chums to support the meagre BBC wage?
I guess it is a magazine story, but there is a fine line to how many ‘investigations’ like these hit the BBC pages to be informative and educational or, as you say, elevating what is admitted as a less than safe career path in a niche sector to the status of an Apprentice pitch, with terms like ‘brand’ and industry awards being bandied about.
Would a young person with an eye more to money see this as cautionary or inspirational?

Back in December 2010, the BBC reported about the influx of illegal immigrants into Israel from countries like Sudan, Eritrea, and other ‘troubled’ African nations. Though they headline the article Illegal African migrants present quandary for Israel, they don’t actually explain the real nature of that quandary. So the reader is left with the impression that the problem with these immigrants is much like the problem people have with immigration in this country. And as we know all too well, the BBC is above any kind of reaction like that.

Perhaps too, the reader might infer that racism is at the core of this quandary, and that Israel doesn’t want this influx of black Africans migrants.
This might be the conclusion, certainly of any ignorant reader, on which the BBC preys, who was not aware of Operation Solomon in 1991, when Israel airlifted 14,000 Ethiopian Jews and brought them to safety in Israel. The actual final airlifts of these Ethiopians was in August last year when 450 were brought in. This was even reported by the BBC at the time.

So what the BBC has not told us is the real quandary for Israel with these illegal immigrants.
    They are not Jews.
The whole purpose of Israel’s existence is to be a land populated and ruled by Jews. A haven for any and every Jew in the world. They also want to be a democracy, which is why there are Arab politicians in their government. The reason that Israel needs a 2 state solution with the Palestinians is they cannot absorb that additional number of Arabs and retain Jewish control. The Palestinians are well aware of this of course, which is why they resist legally agreeing to a deal which would finalise this, and make the return of those Palestinian ‘refugees’ who fled Israel during the various conflicts in that region, part of the ‘deal’, knowing full well it would put an end to Israel.

The reason this story is an issue today is because thousands of these African illegal immigrants, who it must be remembered came through Egypt – a safe country at the time, though a far more perilous journey to continue to Israel, just held a protest in Tel-Aviv about their treatment.

One can just imagine how Egypt today, let alone the far more radical countries in the area would be dealing with these protesters. But Israel allows them to protest. So how does the BBC cover this story.

First of all – no mention now that they are ILLEGAL migrants. Now they are just MIGRANTS.
And no mention either of what the problem would really be for Israel to concede to their demands.

This only helps support the idea that Israel’s very existence as a Jewish State is racist, and that Zionism = Racism. It’s received wisdom at the BBC, and many there probably resent having to keep from simply saying it out loud on air and in every report about Israel. Paul Mason gave us a hint of that attitude recently.

With respect Teddy Bear, illegal immigrants poses several real quandaries for Israel in addition to the fact they are not Jews. Some of these problems have parallels in the UK while others are unique to the Israeli experience.

South Tel Aviv around the Central Bus Station is home to the poorest of the city’s citizens. The presence of thousands (judging by the demonstration tens of thousands) of illegal immigrants has made their life a nightmare. Many of them have no place to sleep so they sleep in public parks. Despite expectations many do not find consistent work so petty theft has become a scourge.

What does a country do with an ever increasing group of illegal immigrants? Are they entitled to social services as if they were residents? Education for their children? Citizenship? Far too many Israelis do not earn enough to pay taxes so the additional burden falls 0n the taxpayers.

Unique to Israel is the problem of how they arrive. Many pay huge sums to Bedouin smugglers to take them across Sinai, increasing the already high costs of patrolling the borders and opening the way to smuggling of drugs, prostitutes and most importantly arms using the same routes. Some do not survive the crossing as they are murdered on the way.

Almost all are not refugees by the UNHCR definition (despite what the UN might say). The simplest way to stem the flow is to make the message clear. The better life they seek is not waiting for them if they reach Israel.

I agree completely with what you write Deegee. My focus in my original post was to highlight the unique problem facing Israel in their regard, beyond that facing any other country. The one that the BBC alluded to in their 2010 headline as Israel’s ‘quandary’, though they never explained what it really was.

The difference between these illegal migrants, and those from Ethiopia was Israel went out of its way to bring the latter to safety in Israel, even though the issues you describe were also going to be a problem for society there.

Naturally the BBC wouldn’t make this clear to its audience.

The whole purpose of Israel’s existence is to be a land populated and ruled by Jews. A haven for any and every Jew in the world.

As there are plenty of Jewish people in Britain and other countries who not only expect the right to practice their (alien) religion but who also often are part of the group who big up the supposed ‘benefits’ of multiculturalism and tell us we should be tolerant of people of other cultures from all over the world, I find it extraordinarily hypocritical that Israelis should consider it theirright to retain an homogenous homeland while calling other peoples ‘racist’ for wanting the same for ourselves!

If Israel is to be preserved for Jews then let it be Britain for the British, France for the French, the Netherlands for the Dutch and Ireland for the Irish!

I suspect rather than not wanting to excuse Israels action, that the BBC was protecting Israel from the all too obvious accusation of ‘racism’.

I am stunned by the ignorance shown by your comment.

When you say British – do you include all those who were colonised? If so you have a real problem with ‘multiculture’.
Similarly too for France and Holland. Should all the Irish in the USA be forced to return to abide by your ideal?

For your information Israel accepts Jews from ALL OVER THE WORLD, so it can speak of the benefits of multiculture. But you seem to believe it has to do with religious belief.

Let’s put it this way – the Nazis didn’t ask whether those they put into the gas chambers were practising Jews, or followed the religion in any way. It was enough that they could trace their heritage to this religion. Similarly for Russia with the pogroms.

As for the BBC protecting Israel… – well it shows just how skewed your thinking is on the subject to arrive at that conclusion.

What IS nonsense is the way you seem to think you addressed my points, and mostly avoided it.

Again ignorance with regard to While it (Israel) only takes and gives citizenship to Jewish people If you would have at least read my original post you would have seen that there are Arab citizens as well – in fact about 20.7% of the population, not to mention Christians and Druze. In addition: Over the last decade, large numbers of migrant workers from Romania, Thailand, China, Africa and South America have settled in Israel. Exact figures are unknown, as many of them are living in the country illegally, but estimates run in the region of 203,000. By June 2012, approximately 60,000 African migrants had entered Israel.

You would be right about giving Ethiopians birth control, but I notice the article you link to also tells you what I stated earlier: Last year, the Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, who also holds the health portfolio, warned that illegal immigrants from Africa “threaten our existence as a Jewish and democratic state”.

You clearly have no idea what multicultural means. If Jews from all over the world – and from all the variety of cultures that existed there – that is MULTICULTURAL.

You confirm with your mentality the reason anybody would be a racist – lack of self esteem.
Or put another way – the difference between a patriot and a nationalist. One is for their own country – the latter is against all others.

Still trying hard to fathom the BBC thinking behind their news headlines concerning the footballer Eusabio who ‘was born in Mozambique in “colonial times” and so had “no choice” but to play for Portugal’ (BBC1 10 o’clock News)

Perhaps this puts that poor chap Andy Murray in a new light. Not only has he the title BBC Sports Personality of the Year in absentia to contend with…. but now we percieve that in this time of “Union” the unfortunate Scot has “no choice” but to represent GB

Maybe we can link this progressve and innovative BBC attitude to nationality to the off guard musings of their presenters. Tony Livesey (BBC 5 Live) recently opined “I don’t see why we need to express Englishness… we are just English by default”

I had thought this meant that to the BBC Salford staffers Englishness was simply the plain, the beige, the vanilla, the unflavoursome or indeed the ready salted of nationalities. You know, the one that is only differentiated by added diversity.

But now in light of the BBC Eusabio editorialising I’m starting to understand why the BBC made such a hero of Mo Farah.

You see Mo made a “choice” about his nationality. He wasn’t just English “by default”. It seems the BBC sees the choosing of one’s nationality as setting that person up as more worthy than those who simply accept their nationality by default.

    I begin to understand

Now this explains why the BBC appreciates Romanian migrants who come to Britain “for a better life” as being more worthy than English born youngsters who now have even more competition for jobs, housing and healthcare.

I read the bit about o Rei being forced to play for Portugal and wondered about it too. Why forced when he was, presumably, a Portuguese citizen? Was he brought the matches in chains? No. AFAIK he was proud to play for Portugal and Benfica and is famous for leaving the pitch in tears after the defeat by England in 1966.

      Hardly ‘forced.’

Interview with Osborne on “Today”, Justin only interested in getting pensioner benefits cut (TV licence/winter fuel etc). Osborne points out that removing these from “better off pensioners” is not the salvation for the nation’s finances.
Due to Evan being on a jolly in warm & dry Nigeria (sitting in World Service studios with World Service staff – who presumably could not be trusted to bring us the reports without a carbon/££ consuming Radio4 team) it takes half an hour before Justin gets Nick to deconstruct Osborne’s words.
By this time Justin is, for no good reason, claiming that Osborne’s whole £25bn cuts package is directed at benefits (rather than public services). Nick then points out that the Tories are wanting to cut benefits to poor people whilst looking after ……….”better off pensioners”

    Hypocrites!

It’s womans hour and a piece on Tae Kwon Do (spl?) The woman presenting asks horrified ‘is this a suitable sport for girls?’ And you have to think when the fascist left use their bully words, they are nothing more than that.
They don’t actually want equality – any of that will quickly be disapproved of ! and they’ll run a mile from actually doing anything about it.
What is important is the power of these words to bully to hurt, and to silence debate and alternate opinions.

Typical left wing hatred, masquerading as something it clearly is not !

    £25 000 000 000 000 more ‘Austerity’ needed, with £12 000 000 000 000 coming from benefit.

However it isn’t going to come from the places which it probably should.

So pensioners will see an increase, meaning that the cuts to the rest will be even more!

Girls / Women who deliberately get pregnant to avoid looking for a job will also most likely be unaffected, despite being a huge drain on the countries resources.

Families having too many kids (5+) and we all know who they are in the main, will also be unaffected.

Yet again we will see the ordinary working people unfortunate enough to be unemployed receiving nothing, or next to nothing.

The disabled who have no option to find a job – and those deemed fit which employers would never employ, will be starved to death.

And the young who have had their job prospects stolen from them by waves of immigrants overseen by all main parties will hardly receive anything at all.

In addition to all this there will be the greater demands from the working immigrants who all are eligible to benefits – so the cuts are likely to be even deeper than quoted.

It looks likely that if you are white and have made a contribution to society then you will get nothing at all in benefits, and will be expected to join the queue at the food bank.

Ever seen an ethnic face in a queue for a food bank? Ever seen them asking for Halal food ? Of course not because the government and the BBC HATE white people with a passion!
