Well then, who would have thought that the BBC would have found a new icon to worship after the death of Mandela, and who would have thought it was a London “gangsta”? BBC coverage has been extensive and very pro Duggan, and the comrades also seem disappointed there has not been a riot! Thoughts?

I believe it’s more subtle than that. The BBC prefer the narrative of white oppression of blacks. They’re not really interested in blacks, for instance the suffering of blacks in the Congo civil wars, in Sudan under Arabs, of Christian (and some Muslim) blacks in Nigeria under Islamist attacks, the oppression in Zimbabwe. No, the BBC is not really interested in blacks per se, just their role they have been cast in the ‘struggle’.

Oh, and worth mentioning the many black victims of gun, drug and knife crime in London. The very people who need protecting from gangsters like Duggan. Duggan and his ilk are no threat to the typical BBC journo, but are a real menace to their fellow blacks. But again, if the BBC was really concerned about blacks they would point that out.

A bit like one of my university lecturers, who went as far as to say “We’ve been fucking things up now for centuries.” ‘We’ in this case obviously meant white people, and he directed this to a class that was mostly blacks and Asians. I’m sorry, but what right does he have to say that all white people (or more specifically white men, since he’s also a feminazi) are responsible for everything that’s gone wrong in the world? Why should I feel guilt for what’s gone before? And why therefore should blacks and Asians not feel guilt for the many, many examples of their own savagery? Moreover, if if should feel guilt for the wrongs whites have been culpable for, why am I not allowed to feel pride for everything they’ve done well? Why is it that whites can only feel shame but other races are told to feel pride? But of course, people like my lecturer (who I should point out I actually quite liked and seemed like a nice guy apart from the whole “reverse racist fuckwittery” thing) absolve themselves from the cross they’ve chosen to bear by accepting that they have to bear it, even when they clearly don’t. The rest of us? Well, we’re just not cultured enough to understand.
It makes me tear my hair out.

Well said. I went to university as a mature student, after a few months, I stopped taking part in any seminar debates, as my views didn’t follow the whole immature lefty gamut. In my assignments I wrote what my lecturers wanted to hear. That is not education. I think university is a waste of time and money. On the whole the lecturers were frightful bigots, with nothing liberal about them, ditto the students. I could say so much more, but I have to think about my blood pressure.

If kicking off (down, Mason) is their preferred aim, and what they are trying to drive with who they ask and hand the pulpit to, on top of some astoundingly odd editorial headlines and ‘analysis’ in complement, they have picked a deuced odd icon to hitch their wagon to.
Some have bought in; most have not.
The BBC sticks with this one as they have in the past, it’s their own graves that will be dug, an no mistake.
That ‘the nation’ they claim to speak for has not rallied as expected (maybe looking beyond superficial ‘ism rallying labels to more fundamental human traits, good or bad), we may see a sea change in ‘reporting’ volume and tonality in short order if they are smart.

I have listened extensively to 5Live today and the pro-Duggan bias has been, frankly, embarrassing.
It seems an irrelevance that yesterday’s decision was one of LAWFUL killing. The BBC had an agenda and nothing was going to prevent them from sticking to it – certainly not the unfavourable decision of 10 good men and true.
Community leader after community leader, crime adviser after gang mediator (I shit you not) have been rolled out to do down the police.
Not one iota of airtime has been afforded to any dissenting voices that stray from the narrative.
I cannot think of a time I have been more fucked off than this. That my state broadcaster deems it acceptable, nay, imperative that a career criminal should be glorified thus.
And even hug a hoodie Dave has gotten in on the act by commending Duggan’s fragrant aunt for requesting that people don’t go out nicking trainers and iPads again..
I fucking despair. I really do.

Joshua Rosenberg was asked for his legal view on the Duggan verdict. He forensically and articulately summarised every aspects of the jury’s decisions and highlighted that there was nothing in them that was a direct criticism of police actions. Phil Williams could only stutter in response before reverting to the official pro-Duggan line.
What a shambles and so it continues today. I want be in despair but I think I have become desensitised.

The most appalling thing about the Starkey witch trial
was how 5 live stoked up the controversy by running selected parts of his interview every 15 minutes throughout the day, then asking people call in with their condemnation.

I remember Stephen Mangan also condemned him during Have I Got News For You, but didn’t even go into any details. He just said “on the plus side, no more David Starkey.” It’s pretty obvious what he was getting at, but it’s the arrogance of his assumption that everyone agrees he should be taken off air that’s so breathtaking.
And by the way, Starkey’s still doing just fine and didn’t have to apologise, not to mention he’s been proven 100% correct multiple times since then.

There is something in that. For instance when ‘negotiating’ with Sinn Fein I believe Jonathan Powell got a thrill from being close to men of violence, unlike the boring and principled Unionists who hadn’t murdered anyone. I don’t think it was the same for his political master, Tony Blair, but others like Mo Mowlam may have felt the same.

Totally agree. The report by the bbc of the duggan inquest, shown on the 6pm news last night, was to my mind, one sided in favour of this criminal. The report could also be construed to be inciting anti social, ie criminal behaviour, by duggans supporters. At no time was air time given in support of the outcome of the inquest. I was under the impression that the media had a responsibility to give unbiased reports. Absolutely disgusted by this.

Your license fee pays for this bastardisation of public debate. Drug-dealing gang king pin collecting gun from criminal is confronted by armed police…and we are told about how his family are “angry” His aunt speaks, but where’s his dad? BBC don’t ask. Where is Duggan’s dad? What does he think of his son’s behaviour. Why does not one soddin’ useless “journalist” ask the question? Because they are all spineless career-making nobodys. Your license fee at work.

Probably because asking the father what he thinks would upset the Mumsnet crowd. Or maybe he’s just absent like so many within that community (and I don’t mean blacks, I mean that particular sub-culture of underclass outcasts that’s probably at least 50% white).

Once again on the Daily Politics Andrew Neil managed to inject a little balance into the debate by pointing out that the community where Duggan lived were scared to death of him. He also added that there didn’t seem to be much local support for his family’s appeal to have protests outside the local police station last night.
Tonight there may be many more people at so called vigil outside the police station but how many of them are local and how are professional protesters who have traveled there?

And there will be no mention of Duggan’s uncle who boldly boasted during a TV documentary that his family were “untouchables” who had a “bigger army” and more weapons than the police.
I think that sums up the attitude of the family perfectly and the reason they are so “horrified” that they were not quite as “untouchable” as they were convinced they were. And most of the areas where the riots took place was not as random as they might have appeared. Virtually all of them were started in places where the extended family had major criminal interests. In the Manchester area in particular there was an arrangement organised whereby the various rival gangs agreed to set aside their turf wars in order to have a free run in the areas being looted in order to maximise the scale of the looting and criminal damage being carried out in order to overwhelm the police at least for a good period until they could get organised and gather sufficient manpower to deal with the scale of the looting.
You can guarantee that none of that will be mentioned by the Beeb, it doesn’t fall in line with their agenda. And they can’t claim ignorance because the information is readily available on the web and easily found once you are aware of the extent of the extended family connections, something the Beeb must certainly be aware of especially since they now have a huge presence in the Manchester and Salford areas.

In any event-they`ll not be asking the Met how many showed up at the station/vigil…this will have to be one for self-assessment c/o Unite or such.

“Plying him with kiddies” is a bit much. Phrases like that just unfairly legitimise the BBC’s incorrect stance that this site is a far-right echo chamber. The BBC didn’t actually (at least not deliberately) provide children for Savile. They just didn’t give enough of a shit to do anything about it even when there were reasonable suspicions/confirmed and witnessed examples of his abuse. None of which defends the BBC or their decision to intentionally cast a Tory peer as a paedophile without evidence to make it look like they were doing something positive (and besides which, he’s a Tory so who cares, right?), but it’s important to be accurate and not let emotions get in the way. That way, you know you’re rising above the BBC itself which does nothing but promote conjecture and emotive bullshit.

As his admitted predilections for under-age children was widespread in the BBC, they still kept sticking him in programmes full of children. This is just about as close as one can get to plying him with kiddies, short of sending out groups of BBC interns with large butterfly nets, chloroform and tying them up in his caravan for him.

I am also sick to death and frankly ashamed that the BBC see it fit to blat on and on about a dead gangster who no doubt made peoples lives a misery in his community. Whenever a fine upstanding law abiding member of society is murdered you would be lucky to even hear about it on the beeb and they certainly wouldn’t give it the sickening blanket coverage that they deem fit to do in Duggans case. These bastards in their ivory towers at the beeb no doubt have never lived on a council estate and had to put up with the likes of Duggan. Why do they seem to worship lowlife like this guy and the likes of Raoul Moat etc. The BBC has to go!!
At least with Moat he was documented as asking for psychiatric help while in prison, so he and his victims were arguably let down slightly by his requests not being followed up on. Not that this absolves him of responsibility obviously, I’m just saying it’s not as blatantly black and white as a gangster in a family of gangsters getting shot by police because they understandably thought he was armed moments after he actually WAS armed. There’s no ambiguity in this one, Duggan was just a scumbag who played with fire and got burned. Moat was a thug but there was an opportunity to help him and possibly prevent the bloodshed that wasn’t taken.

Every time I turn on to the BBC all I can hear is an incitement to riot. The Judicial system is being vilified and a truly notorious gang being presented in a sympathetic light. No one who has been terrorised by these people can speak out because they are terrified of the consequences. Where is our brave State Broadcaster in all of this? Inciting riots. Why should we renew their Charter?

I’m sick of hearing from the BBC Black Panther Brigade wheeling out the usual ‘community leaders’ whose voices the BBC deem more important than the verdicts of our law system. I simply don’t care what Dianne ‘I hate the British’ Abbott and David Lammy say about ‘community cohesion’. Also, who cares what Duggan’s bloody Aunt says? I’m not interested and neither is the majority of the tax-paying, hard-working and grown-up public. I don’t give a damn what Duggan’s aunt ‘urges’. But I do care for the welfare of our police and the rule of law…. if Duggan had he’d possibly alive today. Good riddance, in my opinion.

Look at Dominic Casciani’s opening sentence in his ‘Analysis’ on that article –
“How did the Duggan jury come to a conclusion that critics say is baffling and perverse?”
Usual BBC journalism tactic – 1. ensure that the reader is under the impression that the verdict was wrong because critics say so. 2. Don’t name the so-called critics.
It’s bad journalism, it’s biased, it’s doublethink, doublespeak, groupthink, it’s everything, they’re wheeling out all the thought control tools for in this one.

They haven’t once admitted that the riots were nothing to do with Duggan’s death but simply an excuse for urban scrumping. The rioters in Manchester didn’t even know who Duggan was, they just saw it as an excuse to get some new tracky bottoms and trainers.

It suits the BBC that Duggan died – now they can idolise him as the poor, opressed victim of a heavy-handed system, without too much dissent from the rest of the MSM.
Had he lived, there is no way they would dare interview him on any of their shows. it would have shown him up for the lowlife thug he was. They’re frantically painting his Black Power supporting middle-aged White Aunt as an agent for peace. They also gloss over his Sister’s comments when he died, that he was targetted by “the feds”. Normal language for the average law-abiding British family.
Supporting someone like that that would have killed what little credibility they have left. A missed opportunity for us, sadly.

It’s been interesting to note the BBC response to the death of Mark Duggan and to contrast it to that of young soldier Lee Rigby. One young lad was serving his country, putting his life on the line in defence of our freedoms. The other was a worthless, drug dealing gangsta who, some might say, got what was coming to him.
Looking at the Beeb though you’d be hard pressed to tell which was which.

I have copied this comment word for word from the DT because I think it says all that needs to be said (all credit to doggywoggydooda – 200 votes last time I checked):
“There have been many cases of white criminals being shot dead by police for public safety and of course there were Lee Rigby’s black killers who were armed with a gun and had butchered a man in broad daylight in the street, yet were not shot dead.
Can we put the hysterical and incorrect allegations of racism away now?
The British police bend over backwards to pander to ethnic minorities to avoid being declared racist. Even to the extent of refusing to investigate Pakistani Islamic Paedophile gangs, leaving vulnerable white girls to be brutally and repeatedly gang raped.
Duggan was an armed drug dealer who got what he deserved, given the circumstances. Well done the police, courts and jury.”
From: Gangsterism, not racism, was the root of Mark Duggan’s shooting

I have a sneaking suspicion that the family of Mark Duggan, are trying to link this in someway to the death of Steven Lawrence, in that it was a racist killing. No it was not. The fact that Mark Duggan was mixed race, and the police officers’ (presumably) were white, has nothing to do with this.
Mark Duggan chose a path for himself. A path that was only end in one of two ways. Either he was going to do time, like his friends or, die at the hands of someone else, possibly someone like him. If he had, he would have been just another statistic. But just because he was killed by agents of the State (police), somehow an injustice has occurred and the best thing to do is to link it to racism.
To even remotely compare the death of Mark Duggan with the murder of Steven Lawrence (racist attack) is sickening and shows that these people have no sense of proportion and do not know what it means to lose a son in such tragic circumstances.

Hot on the heels of Mr. Holmes, by sticking to facts this does become a rare worthy summary in contrast to the hyperbole being facilitated by too many.
Interesting top comment:
‘Diane Abbott, although now trying to row back from her original comments, needs investigating for openly casting the verdict into doubt – she is an MP for pity’s sake. Anyone might think she was somekind of opportunistic race hustler!’
One cannot help but feel that if commentary was off narrative by unapproved party members, ‘sources would be claiming’, ‘calls would be getting made’, ‘critics would be saying’ across the entire BBC estate.
But, oddly, silence, from the world’s most trusted to rabble rouse media monopoly.
A few other quotes of note:
‘No witness or jury should ever have to endure this level of intimidation, yet His Honour Judge Keith Cutler continued to indulge the aggressive hecklers. In any other trial or inquest, the court room would have been cleared and those bent on disrupting proceedings would have been charged with contempt.
It was bad enough that there were few, if any, coppers in court and the task of keeping order was delegated to a handful of mainly elderly security guards.
Once again the police seemed paralysed by political considerations, just as they were when rioting broke out in the immediate aftermath of Duggan’s death.
***
“From some of the coverage, you might have thought this was a deliberate miscarriage of justice perpetrated by an all-white jury ..
Nothing could be further from the truth. The jury comprised seven women and three men ..
They were mostly young and many were mixed race, just like Duggan himself, chosen to reflect the diversity of the area.”
***
“In some quarters, there’s a palpable sense of disappointment that another riot hasn’t kicked off already.”
Ch4, Graun & BBC rightly called out for some truly dire tribal stirring, for which they should be held to account.

Has anyone else noticed that on BBC’s Text service we now have an entire page devoted to Duggan?
Similar to the way there was an entire page devoted to Mandela in December…

Why are we forced to pay for this crap again?

BBC is reporting a vigil being held for Mark Duggan. If you google “duggan mark vigil” BBC news is the ONLY report of this event. What’s the better question, why is the BBC reporting this, or why is no-one else reporting it?

ITV news @ 5:00 200 at demo in Tottenham in support of Duggan’s family, BBC news says 500. Video (ignoring press etc.) looks more like 50!

May be my way of reading, but someone at the BBC tweeting centre has a wicked sense of humour in how this one was phrased:

@BBCNews: #Duggan family vow to continue fight at Saturday’s angry protest at #tottenham police station http://t.co/6bJboa4AcC http://t.co/kEFfrpxnzz

From what I’ve heard on the radio, it’s not ‘Duggan’, but ‘Mark’. The BBC want us to be on first name terms like he was a lost friend.
Relatedly I see that unarmed Lambeth police tackled a gunman in a Brixton kebab shop last night. That’s brave that is. Of course, not a word about it on the BBC.
