Sturgeon came across as the spiteful, petty little champagne socialist that she is. A stateswoman she certainly is not. Didn’t see all of QT but enjoyed her getting a drubbing about defence policy. She really was out of her depth trying to discuss the most important function of government. Duncan Ballantyne made a very good comment about defence spending paraphrased as it doesn’t matter if you spend money on troops or weapons that you never use, they will always be there when needed and at worst all you have done is provide a lot of jobs.

‘Football and racism: nine fans, nine stories.’

And not a single one of these fans is a white Englishman, even though anyone who lives in the real world knows they’re subjected to racism regularly as well.

Nothing like documenting racism by being selective about which races to document.

The BBC should be impeached for inciting racial hatred.

I’m surprised the good folk on this forum are not talking about why it is that the BBC have been borrowing money from councils? Why would they be doing that? What councils have they borrowed from? What was the interest rate payable? What was the money used for? What was the breakdown of political party councils the BBC borrowed from? Were the councils who lent the money tied to the Financial Services Act? Did the councils pay tax on the interest? Did the BBC pay any interest on the borrowed money? etc etc etc.

Why is this story so quiet???

    • Demon says:

And did the councils exert any influence on the way and direction the BBC presents its “News” and all other programmes?

If so then the BBC should apologise for all their left-wing sniping about HBOS.

Sad to see the aforementioned white guilt article about how football is riddled with racists as far as the eye can’t see (to paraphrase Charlie Brooker, another of the BBC’s institutional self-loathers) has been swallowed up hook, line and sinker by its gullible HYS apologists. They’ve downvoted every comment pointing out the double standard and bias, yet amazingly they’ve upvoted comments about how unintelligent and racist the British are (which is itself a racist statement, of course). It’s impossible to get any sense of balance or a viable discussion going with such a blatant manipulation of the comments, so I reckon it’s about time we redress the balance somewhat. Let’s also inform the moderators of the abusive comments being posted about the English, see whether they’re as censorship-happy when it’s our ethnicity being attacked rather than a minority.

Apologies to you for my repetition – if you did happen to read the back end of the former Open Thread – but I think this is an important point.

    ‘…there MUST be a bias there…’

or so the BBC tells us about the Oscars

Bright and early this morning BBC tv takes us to Holywood for the preparations for the Oscars 2015. Our reporter is most keen to tell us all about the age and gender make-up of the movie Academy judges. Facts and figures come thick and fast and we learn the average age is sixty-something and they are mostly guys.

Ahhh! The BBC howls, these old film buffers must obviously prefer movies ‘which represent themselves…. There must be bias there’

Strange isn’t it, whenever the bourgeois metropolitan Oxbridge liberal-arts elite lefties who run the BBC are challenged about their own biases they always insist it ain’t so.

Over on SkyNews this morning they were bemoaning the lack of Oscar nominations for Selma, the film based on the Martin Luther King goings-on.

I’m sure the BBC will probably get round to it too.

Nothing in the SkyNews reporting to suggest that quality of performance might have something to do with it, it was all about diversity and bias.

      • Andy S. says:

The movie “Selma” is sinking without trace in the U.S. – if you look at the viewing statistics ( I saw them a couple of weeks ago on a U.S. site but unfortunately I forget which one or I would have referenced it) the film isn’t even tempting the majority of black people into the cinemas to see it. Some of the more switched on reviewers – not the sycophantic ones keen to display their anti-racist credentials – have accused the film of being historically inaccurate agitprop produced by the well known race-baiter and billionaire Oprah Winfrey. There are even some who knew Martin Luther King who said he would have disassociated himself from the film because of the liberties the screenwriter has taken with the facts.

Note that the BBC on TV – Radio this morning, wheeling out the same, clueless, irritating voice on, “fighting extremism”, after another wannabe mass murderer, is caught with a large knife and hammers, a black jihadi flag, wanting to behead a soldier …
within weeks of converting to …… “there are just so many different factors to consider”
so lets list the bullet points
A/. inspired by? ……. “those who killed Lee Rigby?”
B/. turned wannabe murderer because? …… “he came from a religion that already hadan exclusivist character”
C/. so violent because? …… Its thought he had a criminal erm …… tendency
D/. so quickly turned to wannabe mass murderer because? …….
a pattern of factors, around his community were so similar psychologically, to the new … community he joined that aided his
mindset to turn to a mass murderer.
(this previous community getting so much blame for destroying
him psychologically, so he could be a rampant beheader at a moments notice … the Jehovah Witnesses).
E/. Nothing to do with the peaceful religion that he converted to?
because being a new convert has never been shown to produce any
    extremism in Islam then, obviously.

You literally could not make it up, clueless, dangerously naïve, and regurgitated wholesale by the BBC.

The caption is a classic of wind spin: ‘the project could produce enough energy to power up to 2 million homes’

The author has kindly crunched some actual numbers on that ‘could’ and where reality lies between one home and 2 million. And when this ‘may’ be relied upon.

There is also the small matter of the operational factors, as 25 years in an aggressive salt water environment less than easy to service may degrade steel structures and complex gear boxes more quickly than ROI calculations ‘may’ hope.

I think I’ve read that’s already evident. An ‘estimated’ life of forty years has been re-assessed to fifteen years. Of course, we know the original fanciful forty would just have been calculated by extrapolating backwards what was need to make a case for cost-effectiveness.

After we’ve allowed for all the unforeseen extra costs due to weather, vibration, etc., we need to ask – what happens at the end of their lives, when all the subsidies have been milked? Who will pick up the tab for the costly removal? I’d guess ‘Exciting New Green Energy Inc’ will mysteriously go bankrupt but will re-appear, with no debts, next day as ‘New Exciting Green energy Inc’. The BBC will gush about how wonderful a hundred jobs have been saved – minimum wage and minus pension, of course. And the taxpayer will payer leaden-footed government employees vast sums to clear the sites.

I’m not really understanding these Opinion Polls to be honest, well those bits that surround the LibDems at any rate. Another poll out this morning suggested that they were up 2% on the last poll… questions:

        1. How can LibDems be going up in the polls at all, given that they have been virtually invisible since Xmas, and any comment about them is almost always negative, and

        2. In all recent bye-elections they have not managed to get more than 2% of the vote so how can they be polling 8 or 9% as we are told?

Equally, how can Labour possibly be rock solid at 32% given their current status. Beats me, but I guess it is all in the background analysis.

BBC London this morning hosted Nikki Bedi standing in for Venessa Feltz.
The discussion was on the reason that young muslims become radicalised, referencing Brusthom Ziamani the teenager found guilty of a plot to behead a soldier in Britain.
Quite apart from the horrible anti Israel venom that Nikki seemed content to allow from some of her callers. there is the issue of her referring to those who convert to Islam to be called reverts. Why would a non Muslim call a convert to Islam a revert?
That term implies a Muslim concept that everyone and everything in the World belongs to Allah and so conversion is actually a reversion to the natural state of being a Muslim. Why does Nikki Bedi use this term for a convert to Islam?

Anyway …all of this apologist garbage, is not likely to de-radicalise one toe of my hamster, never mind someone driven by very clear instruction in Islam s little book of hate.
A new convert is likely to be told it is literally the word of … Allah!, and to follow its instruction as it is the guide, its instruction is eternal.
      “Verse (47:4) – English Translation
when ye meet the Unbelievers smite at their necks; At length, when ye have thoroughly subdued them, bind a bond firmly on them”.
(must mean, metaphorically? … maybe in Allah s sandpit? …
maybe just to really, really wish for it, pray for it, smile quietly if someone else does it, but deny openly if anyone speaks about it
      … something like that).

Our local news last night (Look North) had an item about the number of young people who have had their benefits stopped (sanctioned) because they had infringed the rules for their Job Seekers Allowance. The item was not about the reasons they have infringed their responsibilities but how wicked the Job Centres were. Now the person they interviewed about the wickedness was Owen Jones. He is not from this area, has no connection that I know of to this area (he was interviewed from the London studio) but he was given ample time to produce unsubstantiated tales of poor kids who have had their benefits stopped but no checks on his accuracy.

If someone is too ignorant or lazy to renew their certificate then sorry, why’s that someone else’s (i.e. the taxpayer’s) problem? I’m pretty certain that on digging deeper then it’ll be found that fines are not imposed without some notice giving people time to explain and/or rectify the situation. Oh and hang on; tucked away in there it says “The system changed in 2002 and a new medical exemption certificate that needed renewing every five years was introduced.” Which means that it wasn’t the hated bastard vicious unfeeling Tories (spit) at all that introduced it in order to heartlessly victimise those who dare to be unwell on their watch. The quoted section is from the FaceBook page, which links to the story. The former still has comments.

A quick sample on a few issues:

James Gordon How to spot BBC western propaganda?

Alex Boyle Sensationalism – is the BBC being run by Fox news now? What’s in it for the Beeb to publish this kind of tripe? Are we all supposed to be living in fear?

Jamal Hamid “Not to scale”….just in case!

Usually BBC Facebook comments can be testing, ranging from tribal warfare to lonely hearts to car deals, but I warm to these.

As I just popped back, there’s also this on our Incredible Journey Trio of Terrorist Totty (‘UK Girls’ in Beebspeek):

“We hope they have the courage to return now, back to their families who are so worried about them.” The teenage girls from London, who Metropolitan Police Service fear are heading to Syria.

Not going quite to narrative there either, truth be told.

‘Jennifer Farrell – So we have a 15 year old who may have an assumed name? How did she get the passport? Three of the them, two 15 and one 16 had enough money to fly to Turkey and access to passports without parental knowledge? There must be other adult involvement. How do they intend to get from to Turkey to what ever their destination is? Hmmm.

Questions that appear to have so far escaped a £4Bpa PR operation that pretends to be a ‘news’ medium.

The only Russian aircraft you would likely to see is the “Bear” . Its the only one with the range to fly round North Cape to probe our air defences . The others would need regular top ups, by AAR ,from tankers. If the others did appear, they would be flying potential attack missions on the UK . They would of flown across the Baltic, & would fly directly over Denmark . Hopefully Mrs Kinnock would have ordered The Royal Danish Airforce to scramble their F16`s, & shoot some of them down . Next stop would be the UKADR ( Air Defence Region) .The RAF Typhoons would then engage them & shoot them down , but then Nato would of declared a hostile incident, on its territory .

Way ahead of you, mate. Jezza, Jon… your ears burning?

Have to say that when folk got on high horses when Israel (what was one reason for its creation again?) offered passive sanctuary to those with some cause to actually be deemed a community living in fear, it seemed the biggest shark jump of logic I could imagine. What, how dare anyone opt out? Still, the licence fee seems to operate on a similar basis.

It’s also odd that large chunks of domestic diversity are so in fear of where they have been welcomed, the very notion of popping back to nuturing bosom of home gets fought tooth and nail with every penny legal aid can muster.

          http://www.thegwpf.com/met-office-warming-2017-media-do/

And the same Met Office that told us 2014 was the hottest year on record by 0.02 deg C, when the margin for error on annual global temperature measurement is 0.1 deg C?

And are those real temperatures or ‘adjusted’ ones?

          Then there’s this:

‘Newsbytes: “Dry Winter” Could the Met Office Have Been More Wrong?’

          http://wattsupwiththat.com/2014/02/21/newsbytes-dry-winter-could-the-met-office-have-been-more-wrong/

          And there’s this:

Back in February, Julia Slingo, the Met Office’s Chief Scientist, was reported by the BBC, when discussing the recent wet winter, as saying:

“The UK had seen the most exceptional period of rainfall in 248 years….

We have records going back to 1766 and we have nothing like this. We have seen some exceptional weather. We can’t say it is unprecedented but it is exceptional.

There was no definitive answer to what caused the storms, but all the evidence suggests there is a link to climate change”

I pointed out at the time that these statements simply were not supported by the data, and asked the Met Office to justify them. (Remember that this report was on 9th February, so she only had Dec/Jan data to go on). After three attempts on their part to sidetrack the issue, they have totally failed to back up these statements, other to to say in justification that she said “We can’t say it is unprecedented”.

Of course, nobody would say it was “unprecedented” as we only have records back to 1766, and therefore cannot know what happened before. The reality, though, is that in the records since 1766 there have been other years with even greater rainfall, whether measured over one, two, three or four month periods. Consistently, we find that the period of October 1929 to January 1930 stand out as much wetter than this winter, or any other similar periods in the records since 1910.

          https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2014/04/25/slingo-wrong-on-all-counts/

I mean its not as if these girls are likely to have been allowed to have a Saturday job and their own money, let alone a bank card to pay for the flights, and with the general level of supervision of daughters in Muslim families its incredible that they got away without a male relative.

Sometimes in this parish we are visited by a travelling band of trolls who delight in telling us that the BBC is not biased. Well; surely this story will have the majority of the population open-mouthed with incredulity.

The BBC continually butter-up teenagers to recruit them for the left. While teens continually live with older folk who tell them they lack experience of life, they see the Beeb promoting the ‘yoof parliament’ and campaigning for the voting age to be lowered to fifteen.

If a young white male attends a meeting of the EDL and gets caught up in some minor hooliganism, the Beeb treat him as a nasty bit of work; no recognition whatsoever that his relatively young age should be taken into account. But three brown, Islamist females go off, full of swagger, to join a blood-thirsty bunch of murdering bastards… and they are extremely vulnerable, the three friends, straight A students and, best of all, victims of sexual grooming.

You really couldn’t make it up. Imagine if you wrote a drama about a state broadcaster that lost its way and succumbed to bias, and you depicted them as bad as the BBC on this matter, people would say ‘Far-fetched, un-realistic, over-the-top’

‘Watching the Six O’Clock News on BBC is a penitential act. You have to endure about 45 seconds of self-aggrandising musical and graphic intro before the news reader even enunciates the headlines – which are then underscored by a soundtrack and punctuated with drumbeats. It’s like watching a musical. The whole panoply of melodramatic music, techno-wizardry and zooming shots serves only to impress the viewer with the over-riding importance of the messenger rather than the message.’

A bit early for “Today” this morning (don’t know why I bother, anyway), I caught the last few minutes of “Farming Today”, the BBC Radio 4 climate agenda programme cunningly disguised (or perhaps not disguised, at all) as something of interest to farmers, and agricultural people.

Some female professor, who was working on rainfall, and its effect on different soils, blithely spouting that ‘climate change is making extreme weather events the norm, these days’.

A professor? Where do they find these fools, and why is it necessary to trot out these glib untruths at every available opportunity? Do they really believe what they utter, or do they say it just because everyone else does, and it’s the thing to do?

I’m convinced that, in their eyes, they think that climate change only began a few years ago, and the weather has drastically altered beyond all recognition in that tiny timescale. Has the climate not changed since there was a climate to begin with? What about the previous 4.5 billion years of climate – did it not change, then? Clearly not, if these “professors” are to be believed – it only started changing a few years ago, and of course, it’s all OUR fault. Oh, and it has changed in a bad way, because of us – I wish it WAS warming, I really do – but it isn’t, is it?

Believe me, the dates for our farming around here have not changed in forty years except where farming practices allow things to be done more quickly. Rape comes into flower in April/May and flowers for about six weeks and then is cut or chemically desiccated and we wait three weeks for it to dry. If the weather stays dry we harvest in July but the last couple of years we have had to wait for a dry day in August. Early varieties of wheat may also be snatched in July, but usually it rains throughout August leading to increased stress on the part of the farmer. The early weeks of September are usually dry and sunny and we thank Him upstairs as we quickly, with super sized combines, bring in a year’s work. And nothing has changed. The last really warm dry summer was in 1976 and it would be lovely if we could have another. Autumn drilling has always been completed, just, by half term and this last autumn was no exception. So when I hear, as I did this last week on the BBC, that they are growing different crops in Iceland, because of climate change, I simply don’t believe it.

“The men shouted as they walked through the station having alighted from the train a short time earlier.

“If you travelled on the train from Paris or were at the station and have information which can assist our investigation I would urge you to get in touch as a matter of urgency.”

She said more needed to be done to “publicly condemn” such behaviour, adding that BTP is working with football clubs to tackle the issue.

“It’s clear that unfortunately there is still a minority who think it is acceptable to behave in such an abhorrent manner,” added Supt Murray.

A matter of effing urgency? You can’t be serious? There must be a million truly urgent things that the police should be concentrating on before this trivial nonsense. Half the Jews in the UK are ready to leave; where’s the urgency in supporting them?

‘Abhorrence’ is such a Common Purpose concept.

I heard the report on the Paris incident by the Today programme earlier this week: when they interviewed the man who had video-ed it he said,’ I was so utterly shocked to hear them actually say “We are racist and we like it that way”‘. Good heavens you do lead a sheltered life, I thought, and isn’t it easy to épater les bourgeois these days… Hmm that’s perhaps an idea for those Chesea fans’ lawyers – claim it was one of those living installation things designed to afflict and shock the middle classes…

The bloke who filmed the Paris storm in a teacup was an expat.
So-for him to pretend that he was shocked to hear the stuff about Chelsea fans being happy to be racist-well, he can`t get out much, maybe he just commutes underground from one cafe to another.
Because Paris has some places where what the Chelsea fans is nothing at all. There are no go areas where he`ll not be filming anybody or what they`re saying.
But you`d not know that from this popinjays faux attack of les vapeurs.
After Charlie Hebdo-only the likes of him and his liberal ciphers at the BBC would feign ignorance about what La Defences Maghreb muppetry chant about Jews, churches, women-and maybe even PSG for that matter.
Desperate media shark for us all to jump if we`re so inclined…I see Islam frothing and foaming our seas with the blood of Christian Copts…but no homburg tip to Enoch.
i`m guessing we`ll have to wait `til IS reach the Tiber before the BBC tell us what “seems to be happening” as it all becomes one Red Sea, one Red River.
If you don`t mind-I`ll not be waiting for the BBCs permission to give Al Baghdadi the bad body language…the burqa won`t let us show that anyway.

So Cameron gets in on the BBC act over the psycho girls.

Mr Cameron said: “It is deeply concerning and obviously our authorities will do everything we can to help these girls.
“But it does make a broader point which is the fight against Islamist extremist terror is not just one that we can wage by the police and border control.
“It needs every school, every university, every college, every community to recognise they have a role to play.

He really is a dire complement to the sound bite era and the content-poor media environment that feeds it.

      This from Ch4:

“David Cameron has weighed into the row over the three teenage east London girls who are believed to be on their way to join Islamist extremists in Syria. The prime minister says schools and colleges have a duty to stop people “having their minds poisoned by this appalling death cult”. So how far does that duty extend?
We’ve been exploring the pressure on universities to stop students being radicalised. For the first time, academics are under a legal obligation to prevent under-graduates being lured into terrorism. Fair enough or an affront to free speech? Paraic O’Brien reports from Bethnal Green, and Assed Baig has been chatting to people on campus.”

Like any attempt by anyone in authority to cramp a kid’s prophet-mandated right to get in a lather and kick off would not have the entire media estate, and large chunks of suck-up establishment, calling for resignations.

Maybe rather than obliging some hapless diversity lecturer at the local Poly to wag a finger about what is not a true faith-based oath, the likes of the PM could look at what such as the BBC don’t talk about and what they do, so that silly bints don’t view loser nutjobs with a taste for the macabre as some doe-eyed hunk scampering around a tree.

A still from the Whitehall march might have gone a long way to showing the kind of buff boyfriend would likely be working off excess blood lust after a hard day’s toasting and beheading at the front office.

The Rotherham abuses are totally consistent with the BBC who look the ‘other’ way for fear of giving offence to its liberal left wing ethos. The Times today (Saturday) has a half page report on past BBC abuses stating; ‘sexual harrasment was ‘routine” 1970s to 1980’s – according to a new book by the BBC’s official historian (Jean Seaton media professor and author of ‘Pinkoes and Traitors: The BBC and the nation 1974 to1987’), she describes that three famous BBC ‘gropers’ included Malcolm Muggeridge, Hue Wheldon and one other only named as being “in a position of authority” at the BBC who was subsequently removed to an expensive urgent ‘assignment’ to New York. We can perhaps guess. And then George Howard BBC Chair 1980 to 1983 requested ‘a pretty young journalists’ to molest at any event he chose. This was at a time that Ms Thatcher always demanded that the BBC Director General and Chairman’s office were ‘swept for bugs’. This was at a time when the BBC were considered under the influence of Moscow and routinely monitored by Mi5. The Times

Somewhat surprisingly, the BBC seems quite pleased with itself with the ‘Pinkoes’ tag: ‘“Misogynist, courteous and patronising” — Jean Seaton might  be making the BBC blush with her new book but that didn’t stop Beeb biggest names toasting its success. Director-general Tony Hall, along with former DGs John Birt and Michael Checkland, crowded into the University of Westminster’s Portland Hall last night….’ (says the Evening Standard) The plan being (BBC praise) that the book title was based on comments made by the late Denis Thatcher. So that makes it all above board and now deemed ‘acceptable’ behaviour as it’s ‘historical’ and had nothing to do with ‘Saville’ accomplices or any other ‘sexual’ events that have been exposed since Police operation ‘Yewtree’. The BBC abuses are now applauded as ‘historic’ impressive ‘British’ achievements. I can hardly wait for the next instalment of BBC abuses 1987 to 2010′ to be lauded as ‘acceptable’ by the BBC chiefs as being ‘British establishment’ at it’s liberal left of everything best. No shame at all.
