ELECTION DAY OPEN THREAD….

Well, the day of the General Election 2015 is upon us and here is a thread that can be used JUST to cover how the rotten BBC covers it. I’m afraid I won’t be around for the next few days due to a family bereavement so will catch up the other side of the Election.

I wouldn’t get too excited by the exit polls just yet, they’ve been known to be wildly inaccurate in the past. In some areas there has been talk of intimidation and bullying, but that’s usually thuggish lefty types so the vote might be even higher. I think I can get a reasonable night’s sleep believing that Miliband minor and poisonous Jimmy Krankie aren’t going to play havoc with our country. However, in my opinion, it really is only the lesser of two evils. We need a decent Kipper turnout to force the European issue. Fingers crossed for Nigel and co.
Oh, and if the BBC are pissed off then I’m really chuffed..

Maybe, but the UKIP vote is already massively higher than anticipated. However, with selective voting in Thanet the Tories and the lefties could seriously damage Nigel.
In some of these northern seats you could put Sooty up and he’d get elected.
Hopefully good news re Ed bollocks Balls.
        Fingers crossed!
The BBC have got depressing but dependable Dimbleby major whilst ITV have the gorgeous, though scatty, Nina Hussain in a black mini dress. Which one do I watch?

I hope I’m wrong, but I think Nigel has had enough (or his family have asked him to stop – the pub incident might have been the final straw). His heart doesn’t seem to be in it, like it was in the EU elections. He would have known his promise to quit would entice the ‘get Farage’ brigade to mobilise. Maybe that’s what he wants – his life back and an end to the death threats/bullying and intimidation of his family. He cried on TV when they asked about the impact on his family.

The left truly are nasty c*nts.

Grimer – I agree with you 100%. Farage has stepped down before, and bounced back, as did Salmond. Farage needs another break and has earned it. UKIP has much more capable talent now to share the burden.

Just to inject a bit of BBC bias back into the site !

Readers are aware that this exit poll of 22000 voters was not conducted by a polling company, but by the BBC ?

It’s a very large sample size so theoretically should be accurate, however if it is accurate then what on earth have 90% of the pollsters been doing to get it so wrong these past weeks?

On the other hand can we trust the BBC to have conducted a fair and unbiased exit poll? After all impartiality runs in their veins !

Don’t they say that, in a democracy, people get the government they deserve? Whatever befalls the indigenous subjects of the UK, they had a chance to make a fresh start, but they declined. The message was clear enough, the bias, bad though it was, is no excuse.

      • More Like The Soviet Bloc Every Day says:

No, don’t get me wrong. I believe in democracy, but Nigel right now is the best hope of getting the UK out of the hugely undemocratic EU. I’m from Ireland myself. A referendum and UK pulling out will help collapse that foul edifice which should mean a lot to anyone who loves freedom. With more EU integration, economic stagnation and mass immigration we’ll be seeing the end of democracy all over Europe. Then we’ll all get what we get whether we deserve it or not… That’s all I meant.

Besides, I really like Nigel. Amongst other things he’s very funny. My head tells me he’ll win, but I’d be gutted if he didn’t. He did seem very relaxed for the whole of last week so maybe he knows something we don’t.

UKIP are still an unknown quantity but are making headway but slowly as one would expect. If Nigel Farage did not win the seat he had hoped for and does decide to stand down, he will be missed. Having watched him in the European parliament for some time now, not having him in the H.O.P. will be a great loss. But, you never know, fate can deal strange hands.

Well, he didn’t look a happy bunny on ITV just now. Too divisive a character, I guess. If that’s the hand fate has dealt, it can be used to advantage by getting someone less divisive to attract votes from people who would never vote for Nigel.

If Farage has lost in Thanet, I think it will be because he (unwisely, in my opinion) said he would immediately step down as leader if he was not elected. This has really galvanised the anti-Ukip vote.
Frankly, I think the man deserves to win. He has almost single-handedly brought his party from 3% to (probably) being the third party in British politics. Pretty amazing achievement.

Rumours saying Nigel bang on track. He did look very bullish and buoyant today as well when casting his vote. It’s about time we had some decent conviction politicians in our countries.

In spite of the bias he came across very well. He’s also been on telly about as much as any of the front benchers from the other parties.

        • Roland Deschain says:

If he’s been made to appear that way, then he is, whether justified or not, which is why he hasn’t won (though Paul Nuttal disputes this). But we’re dancing on the head of a pin here. If Nigel hasn’t won, UKIP has to move on without him and become less of a one-man band, which I think they’ve shown during the campaign they can do.

And yes, I think it was very unwise to say he’d step down. Unless he feels he’s had enough and this was his way of getting out.

I’m afraid British politics, whether we like it or not, has become about ‘one man bands’. It’s Cameron or Miliband or Clegg.

Nigel Farage has pulled off a near miracle by managing to add a fourth name as a challenger to the list of establishment hacks.

As a UKIP supporter, I have to admit that no one else I have seen in the party has anything like the required charisma to match him.

I was watching the ITV coverage Owen Jones was off on his usual diatribe which featured the word hope multiple times. Switching between BBc and ITV was still giving the same view. Labour and BBC were in damage control mode early on so whilst it’s still very early 01:25 BBc are perceptibly trying to spin results i.e. Battersea “A disappointment” for Labour. I’ve given up on ITV as they wheeled out of all people Brian May (Queen). Kinnock was rambling on so much I had absolutely no idea what the hell he was on about. People telling pollsters one thing and then voting for someone else!!! The public being duped by Cameron…???
Labour hold Wrexham “easily” by 1,800. Easily? In Wrexham I used to live in Wrexham the proverbial you could put a donkey up for Labour up and it would win applied there. Over to the young voters..they don’t believe what’s happening…eeerrr ok!
Tristam Hunt “Milliband exceeded expectations” yep certainly exceeded mine.

How will the BBC back pedal? Campaign for PR? That won’t work either 🙂 Scotland now looks like it might be a sideshow.

The SNP members may prove to be toothless, leaving her with far less opportunity to cause trouble. And Labour MPs won’t be going out of their way to make the SNP look good by supporting them too often in the Commons.

You can be sure the Tories and Labour will be talking closely to come up with a strategy to harm the Nats. They won’t want to admit that, of course.

Labour in particular won’t want to help the SNP look a bit handy, they have to try to recoup some standing for next year’s Holyrood elections.

More progressive than their current position. They just need to target their Labour voters more, and seem less on the side of the rich. I think they should push for more Grammar schools too.

        • Up2snuff says:

Agreed. In addition, they need to push for a whole & wholesome education system with the modern equivalent of Secondary Moderns & Technical – as well as Grammar – schools helping those youngsters who feel there is no purpose to education to catch a vision of something they can learn, skills they can obtain, something they can be good at.

In some parts of England, the bulk of the funding & the best teaching skills will need to be poured into those Secondary Modern & Technical schools to rescue kids who are being marginalised, or worse, by Comprehensive education.

the country needs to swing massively to the right just to regain the centre ground. What this election has proved is the majority of voters (except in National Socialist Scotland) dont want the far left politics pushed by Labour under Miliband and promoted by the BBC

It’s still quite early, but I wonder what conclusions we can draw from this election and the projections for the number of seats. It seems this election has stripped the bias of BBC bare, but in spite of that it made no difference. In fact, it proved counter-productive. You really can’t polish a turd. The gains seem to have benefitted the conservatives. UKIP have done very well nonetheless in the popular vote, but perhaps not enough to win many seats. If Nigel doesn’t win I think it will cost UKIP momentum as the media exposure and the opportunity to challenge Cameron directly in the commons would have been hugely beneficial. Perhaps the BBC managed to score a blow with their dirty tricks if Farage isn’t elected. Still, overall a result. You wonder though, do things have to get worse in the UK before people vote for a party that promises an EU exit or is this par the course for a grassroots movement? I guess 15-20% for new parties rebelling against the EU is consistent. The UK voting system really needs reform.

So will there be a potential referendum? I think it’ll be put on the long finger as Dave “renegotiates”. Shame.

Andrew Neil now trying to run them down…
