Like the waves of mass immigrants surging onto the beaches of Europe that seem so unstoppable the BBC’s bias washes over us also seemingly unstoppable……let’s hear what you’ve seen….
David Attenborough meets President ‘Amazing Grace’ Obama tomorrow night on the BBC who reckons they will be able to get through more that 5 minutes of it ?
I turned on the 24 hours BBC news channel expecting to hear about Tunisia, and instead was treated to an extended live paeon to the living legend that is President Obama. It delivered the “analysis” that the recent killings in South Carolina must be used to push “the” political agenda.
It was not only a lazy presentation of Democratic Party spin, ending with a mawkish sequence with sad music showing those who had been killed in the church in South Carolina, given that there had just been a massacre of British citizens in Tunisia it was jarringly inappropriate.
The Tunisian killings did not engage them (even though they had happened that day) because they could not extract from it the right political message. I cannot recall a similar mawkishness (or even much reporting) of the people being killed in Mexico in the drugs conflicts.
I then turned over to a programme about the Labour Party in Scotland, and again no attempt was made for it to be anything other that a programme made by Labour Party supporters. There was a sequence of sad music as we were shown various Labour MP’s losing their seats. You know like the sad music they had when Conservative MP’s lost their seats in 1997. The BBC is just Labour/Democratic Party propaganda, a truly contemptible abuse of power.
I turned on the 24 hours BBC news channel expecting to hear about Tunisia, and instead was treated to an extended live paeon to the living legend that is President Obama.
Now if it was the Queen’s Christmas broadcast, I could understand. But Obama droning on and on from his teleprompter, was not suitable at all, particularly on a day when several of our fellow citizens were gunned down by BBC’s favourite “religion”.
But then, it could be that the BBC chose to deflect attention away from the RoP by concentrating on the victory of the homosexual lobby.
You may turn on a rolling 24 hour news channel at any one time and not be watching a report about Tunisia, that doesn’t mean it hasn’t dominated news coverage, which it has. Suggesting the BBC has avoided it just bears no relation to reality.
Events in Charleston are still in the news, why shouldn’t be? I saw the same analysis, and it said no such thing. Sad music over the deaths of people shot dead in a church? Why wouldn’t there be?
How does that jar with events in Tunisia?! Oh right, because these were black victims, and some people of colour also killed some white people elsewhere? There’s something a bit sick about a mindset like that. If that’s what you want from the BBC, then you’ll always be disatisfied.
If you were being sympathetic to the BBC you would say that all the extensive coverage of President Obama’s set piece speech (which needless top add used the massacre in Charleston for his personal and political ends) had been prepared long before, but the massacre in Tunisia happened that day, and the BBC were not yet prepared.
But a 24 hour news service has to address what is current, however limited the information, otherwise what is the point of the very expensive service. It is the (tax payer funded) British Broadcasting Corporation not an American broadcaster – of which there are many.
If you did not spot the Party political narrative going on then more fool you, the BBC were certainly aware of it and keen to facilitate it. The commentary was completely uncritical. It fitted neatly into the race obsessed politics of the Left – Obama built his career on this sort of politics.
To make the point as brutal as I can for you what happened in South Carolina is an event in American politics that is (exaggerating only slightly) irrelevant to British and indeed European politics. The killing of British citizens in Tunisia is of relevance to its viewers, and American race politics should not only have been reported in a less partisan manner (sorry when they start playing music over pictures of the victims they are not simply reporting they are striving to get an emotional reaction) it should be been shelved to another day, or at least drastically cut back.
In all honesty are you denying that they way the BBC reports President Obama is exactly the same as they reported President Bush? If you are denying it you are either an idiot or a liar.
The fact that you focus on the race of the victims in both cases proves my point. You share the same race obsessed political agenda as the BBC. I do not share that agenda so why should I have to pay for it? You are right there is something a bit sick about race obsession. I suggest you (and the BBC) heal yourself by being a little less obsessed by the colour of the victims.
My Sister went to Tunisia last year …..when she booked I told her she was mad ….you know i was being stupid over cautious…not that bad …well you should of seen her face yesterday …and she has booked a holiday at Shan in Egypt this year ………I think she is revising this now
Sharm el Sheikh was under Israeli control after Israel handed the Arab world its collective arse in ’67. Idyllic spot with snorkelling and scuba diving – anyway, it was then.
Israel returned it to Egypt a few years after the 1979 peace treaty, overseen by Jimmy Carter who, as a left winger with typical lefty tunnel vision, was naturally deeply in love with Anwar Sadat while despising Menachem Begin.
Pity that Israel could not have held onto the Sinai. The Israelis would have kept it largely free of terrorists and besides, they would have made it bloom.
Agree TrueToo, the arabs are camel traders, goat herders, they know diddley squat compared to the Israelis about horticulture. When the muslim horde took N.Africa, the advances made by Rome were swept aside, and slave ships, not trading fleets filled the Med.
The BBC is very quick to try to blame the police and security services for failing to stop Islamist lunatics joining IS. But I have not heard the BBC criticising the FCO for failing to point up the risks of travel to North Africa.
I toured the Nile solo for over 2 weeks a few years ago – I judged if I did not see the splendours of Egyptian archaeology soon it would become too late to be safe. But I stayed in a quiet village on the west bank of the Nile rather than in the restive city of Luxor, and I visited the Pyramids and the awesome Cairo museum without staying a single night in that seething city. In other words – trying to minimise the risks. Likewise I had some walks in the High Atlas mountains of Morocco last month – but spent only one night in Marrakesh. Having seen Egyptian cities and also the ancient city of Fez previously, I did not want to be among city-dwellers there.
Also likewise – I spent as little time in Arab Bethlehem as possible when visiting Israel. Looking back over a lot of travel in the past decade or so, the only unpleasant incidents I have witnessed have all been in Muslim countries.
I would never have dreamed of visiting a beach resort in Tunis after the recent attack targetting tourists at the Tunis museum, and the previous bomb attempt on a beach at Sousse. The evident risks were not balanced by the value of any nearby sights or attractions.
I await BBC criticism of the FCO. But I am not holding my breath – they share the dewy-eyed optimism about Arab attitudes to Westerners.
I agree. If you go to a country like Tunisia you are taking a risk. How long will it be though before going to many English towns and cities becomes a risk to due to these mad buggers?
Going to Paris is already fraught with danger. Notre-Dame Cathedral is surrounded. The great Basilica of Saint Denis is in Muslim controlled territory.
From Wiki
The Basilica of Saint Denis (French: known as Basilique royale de Saint-Denis, or simply Basilique Saint-Denis) is a large medieval abbey church in the city of Saint-Denis, now a northern suburb of Paris. The building is of unique importance historically and architecturally, as its choir completed in 1144 is considered to be the first Gothic church.
The Norman-Gothic cathedral architecture of France and Britain in my view, is unequalled by any other architecture. Moreover, their construction led to inventions and innovations in diverse areas – engineering and music for instance. It is argued that the building of the church, and the Gothic church in particular, is virtually the building of Western civilisation.
BBC reports that most of the victims in Tunisia were British. Where is the anger? Vichy Dave to hold a meeting of COBRA today. Stand by for measures to prevent a backlash against Moslems. Inspector Knacker of the Twitter Stasi will increase monitoring of the internet and blogs that are critical of Islam. BBC will round up the usual bunch of liars from the Moslem Council and mosques to assert that Islam is a religion of peace. Money will be increased for fruitless strategies to prevent ‘radicalisation’. Calls will be made to the Cameron and BBC supported street thugs of UAF and Hope not Hate to show united vibrant multicultural communities in opposition to the EDL, Britain First and others designated at hate groups.
Was forced by my returning offspring (from Uni) to watch Eastenders last night, first time since Xmas.
Can’t remember most of the characters don’t really care, but was alerted by numerous references to hate crime. islamophobia, anti-muslim behaviour etc etc…
I was instantly reminded why I watch so little BBC drama.
I remember years ago the BBC (although it might have been Channel Four) doing a programme about about a porn channel, in I think Brazil, which used sex as a way to get viewers, who were then “educated” about correct (i.e. left wing) thinking. BBC is drama is a variation on the same theme. It is essentially trash TV accompanied by socialist preaching.
Once upon a time the BBC broadcast classic plays. Now it just reviews Hollywood movies – which of course is about the mental level of most Guardian readers. Its arts reviews are just dire.
The majority of the murdered tourists were British…. where the hell is our PM, why is he not addressing the country explaining what he and his government are going to do about it?
Where are the so called moderate Muslims, why are they not demonstrating calling for ISIS to be destroyed?, after all if someone prints a picture of their Prophet it seems that the entire Muslim world is out on the street protesting?
As for the lack of outrage in all the UK papers this is a national disgrace, you only have to compare the coverage this awful massacre is not getting with the wall to wall coverage that our media devotes if someone dares to critique Islam or make sexist comments about their colleagues.
The Today programme was showcasing Richard Barret, ex-somebody in MI5/MI6 and his contribution was particularly edifying. The occasional beheading/bloodbath is nothing to get worked up about- of course it’s rough for those affected but I’ m on the BBC plugging my think-tank and am well protected and don’t really care a fuck about the “little people”. I suspect he might advocate the “cunning plan” of using returnees from Syria to effect a “deradicalisation programme”, allowing him, his think tank and ex-Jihadis to pocket large amounts of goverment money for their “input”. Am I being too cynical?
I too heard a bit of this.
yes, Charlie Hebdo WAS a bit harsh-but we in the West over-reacted by all our EU head chumps over to walk a Paris street for fifteen minutes-as long as Le Pen wasn`t there, that`d be grand.
I could hardly believe it-but this IS the BBC, so I know they reckon that we all need to calm down, draw a dotted line on our throats and ask Abdul to do his worst.
You watch-there`ll be an embargo on the little people going to the Med for “security concerns” within a couple of years. None of that Benidorm to see grandad,Magaluf to appear on the BBC.
Only the elite will be able to travel, usually to help the rest of us engage with them in saving the planet from chavvy package holiday oiks.
Gaia deserves this small sacrifice from the sunburnt little people-you will of course be able to go to Mecca or Mosul provided you bring a few family and friends back with you to reduce the carbon footprint per person.
Give us all shinpads, kevlar on the NHS-and teach us all Bengali, Somali and Arabic for “I`ll pretend I didn`t see that”…and affect a Sarah Montague, Patricia Hewitt accent-or Keith Vaz if you don`t gag on that prospect.
What was the phrase the government was wont to use internally about IRA terrorism? “An acceptable level of violence.”
This is the situation we are faced with today; but the violence will be far worse so. The bar for said acceptable level, will be set that much higher in order to accommodate it.
Simply put, the government aren’t bothered unless the attack is of 911 magnitude; until that point, our (white UK citizens) deaths are merely tolerable losses; to be explained away as having nothing whatsoever to do with you know what.
People, and the BBC, seem to forget that troubles with Islamic terrorism long predate these ‘foreign wars’ .
Anyone who was adult and aware during the 1970s would have seen this coming – and many did. The root cause is not ‘western aggression’ – it is Islamic radicalism.
Where to start?.
1/. ISLAM IS NOT A RACE, it is a Totalitarian Political Ideology. a dangerous one
2/. Labour MP? wake up! Muslim MP.
3/. Tim McVeigh, or this guy in Charleston … no comparison can t even be bothered to list all the reasons.
4/In the Islamic mind there one political view, Islam, Tory moron Cameron is grooming one for top office right now.
5/.Shouldn t apologise for Islamic terrorism, is that quietly condoning it, then Imam Camoron?
6/. The self serving No10 traitors would sell their own grannies
for own gain or influence for petrodollars, Camoron is speaking
right now and can t even bring himself to call it Islamic terrorism
… so why should Muslims eh!
BBC – The government has claimed MPs risked undermining efforts to tackle extremism by downplaying the seriousness of the “Trojan Horse” events in Birmingham.
Yesterday, For the past 5 years the police knew all about Islamic rape gangs specifically targeting schools … and did nothing http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/news/midlands-news/police-knew-grooming-gangs-were-9518461
If things don t change, we ve had it
Sarah Montague and Robert Peston seemed genuinely confused this morning about the Greek Referendum for next Sunday.
None of that two years crap either-who said the Greeks were sleepy and indolent?
They can hardly go against that splendid Varoufuckup now can they?…he`s so Obama/Chukka on a motorbike!
Nor can they go against Syriza-poster boys and girls for the SNP/Left re “anti-austerity”-they`ve done nothing but love them since last year!
BUT-it`s that anti-EU/anti-Eurozone thing they don`t like-yes, democracy`s all well and good in its place-but this threatens to smash their liberal handwringing gormless consensus to smithereeens!
Oh dear-what`s a conflicted, conflated, confused BBC and its drones to say, to think…maybe even to do, if there`s no cheap migrants here to do for them?
Cue Tumbleweed, Tristram…
The BBC don’t do reality, they do opinion pieces to camera in which “journalists” seek to educate you about correct thinking; the “religion of peace” and how terrible it is to be a Eurosceptic, that sort of thing.
As ever, Douglas Murray cuts right through the “nothing to do with Islam: religion of peace” insult to our intelligence from Cameron and the rest of the clowns.
Nigel Farage pointed out on Any Answers, that we may have a problem with ISIS (or whatever they are called this week), comming over as asylum seekers. Audience were totaly silent. Hmm i thought. it only became apparent later when the panel ganged up and personal attacks were made on farage and egged on by hte audience.
I caught that bit. I thought there was NO audience, so silent was it. Then some leftist dick pipes up about ‘our moral responsibility’ and ‘humanitarian crisis blah blah’ et voilà! Thunderous applause.
I mean, no way could that audience have been hand picked. Utterly shameless, naked bias once again.
So you did notice Sourbry, (1st question),
“muslim friends tell me its a good peaceful religion”
WTF! … is that your “small business” friends?
So if a you anyone tells you anything you believe
it? … despite reams of factual evidence to the contrary. it’s a good job muslim small businesses are so erm “honest” then … isn t it?.
astounding levels of stupidity.
So Cameron is an evil tory toff ,but Milliband a nice block that talks a bit funny , rounded out with 10 seconds of communal hate towards Farage
Bias what Bias?
Funny too that the Edstone quest has gone all cold and quiet-like David Kellys graveside trail.
Imagine how the BBC would be ceaselessly reminding us all of the Tory idiocy, hubris and delusions had THEY come up with this stunt?
But no-it was Labour, it was a different time-and , oh there`s loads of labour giants who want your vote in the coming shitkicking crock contest.
So no jokes, no mockery and NO mention of Ed and his stone.
I tried watching B BC ‘news’ but it left me fuming after a few minutes when it focussed on the Tunisian holiday industry going down the pan………..WTF!!!!
The BBC is all about wallowing in the ‘personal’ consequences of the latest Moozlem fundamentalist outrage. It mires in this detail to avoid the larger questions of e.g. how do we catch these bustards, and how do we stop it happening in future?
Of course, anyone who reads this blog regularly knows that these 8th century warriors are following their holy instructions to the letter ,with tacit support from many millions of their co-religionists.
That’s where the isolation and humiliation and the disavowing should start from but…….we’re still waiting.
And the LiberalMedia ,with the B BC in its vanguard, can’t speak the truth,as that would upset the MultiKulti applecart, so they call them ‘terrorists’ following an ‘evil’ (unknown??!!) agenda and talk about the effect on Tu i’s business!
I even heard a B BC interviewer asking a middle east ‘expert'(-yes, another one) ‘What do you think motivated these attackers???’
On a point of detail, I’m sure I saw a brief interview clip on RT with a British holidaymaker who had been on the beach at the time of the attack. He said that the first he knew about it was when he noticed that ALL the Tunisians had run away from the beach.
My question is : How did they know to run away BEFORE the Westerners? Were they warned to p… off by the gunmen (who may not have wanted to shoot some of their own countrymen)?
Before someone says that hotel staff were shot at , is it not possible that the gunmen might look on hotel staff as lackeys and quislings to the rich Westerners?I’m not saying I agree with their views ,of course , I’m just trying to understand what happened.
Needless to say , this report was not aired on the B BC.
Don’t assume conspiracy when self-preservation is an equally plausible explanation. The message came out in Tunisian Arabic and they ran. Did anyone really expect minimum wage beach attendants to think about the tourists?
As a point of comparison. A survivor of the Nepal disaster said me that the Sherpa porters turned and ran leaving their charges to fend for themselves. Human nature.
Are you saying there was an intitial warning over the hotel loudspeakers in Arabic ?Is this your presumption or did this actually happen?
If presumption, then my theory of ‘let the tunisians clear off’ is equally plausible on the basis of human nature .However , I did not hear that there had been an arabic warning while the witness report from RT was evidential.
Evidence has arisen that the gunman strolled among the locals and said “move” to get them out of the way so he could target the tourist foreigners. Images show how the locals didn’t need to run from him, but stood behind him, some asked “why are you killing these people” as he shot down those who he thought were foreign.
It is the same pattern as the gunmen in Mumbai, Westgate (Kenya), and the killings of the school teachers in Kenya, or the attacks in Saudi years ago; the concept is to divide the non-Muslims from the Muslims, and kill the non-Muslims.
See today’s Independent on Sunday report..’the locals were protected ,while the tourists were picked off’ -I paraphrase, but you’ll get the gist.
Why try and mislead on the racial side of the event?
I’m sure , to some A rabs , there must be an element of ‘paying back’ all the wrongs of the past perceived to have been wrought on his race???
A man has just called Any Answers on Radio 4 saying that people are unwise to visit Muslim countries. Anita Anand challenges this – “there are Muslim countries that are secular, not ectreme, she says, with no danger. He asks for examples. She suggests Tunisia and Egypt ! – ignoring the killings at Tunis museum, ignoring the attempted bomb attack at Karnak Temple in Luxor.
Just another BBC apologist for Islam. She is now arguing the ridiculous notion that Muslims are tired of criticism – should all whites apologise for Charleston ?
Why are we paying the wages of this blithering idiot ?
News quiz as unfunny as ever , the last of Sandi Tossface in the chair [eulogies to her at the end ] .
Jeremy Hardy thinks the problems over at Calais are just British lorry drivers inconvenienced by starving people .
I wonder if he knows the truckers are actually foreign .
On behalf of the Consolidated Union of Natures Turds, I demand you withdraw this insulting and unfounded comparison.
We turds do a vital job in ridding you of your bodily waste and giving you that little bit of pleasure when we leave your digestive tract.
Jeremy Hardy, although easily mistaken for a turd, does neither of these things satisfactorily.
On the matter of dog turds in particular, I would bring to your attention the sad lack of white dog turds in our workplace nowadays. I put this down to the unfair practice of Positive Discrimination and the promotion of brown dog turds over white ones.
We suffer from enough prejudice, so please don’t add to the problem by comparing decent, hard-working turds to the odious Mr. Hardy.
Thanks for posting. White House looks cute with the gay colours. I wonder if Obama would mind if a few gays were thrown from the roof, just to celebrate diversity and tolerance
Flag mocking Islamic extremists, featuring white silhouettes of sex toys on a black background, is mistaken for the real thing at the London gay pride event … ?
….erm … a single titter? …….. anyone?
Meanwhile in the LGBT utopian diversity suite in broadcasting house, safely far far away from reality
… they re in hysterics, crying with laughter into the specially commissioned pink latte s.
Is “brave” Peter Tatchell, still patron of tell MAMA?
now that’s funny
After all the rainbows, pink ensembles, fairy lights
yep! that ll be, anything but erm …… white …… geddit!
Just heard that that muslim terrorist in Tunisia was an aviation student. Thank goodness he was stupid, if he had waited till he was in charge of a plane he could have taken far more innocent lives. Time to ban all muslims from becoming pilots?
I see the BBC have been on a crusade this week against the American Confederate flag.
Now, I’m relatively interested in history and politics but the only Confederate Flag that means anything to me was on the Dukes of Hazard car. A tv programme I loved to watch each Saturday night as a small boy. Beyond that it’s just a flag.
And tonight(shock, horror) the BBC are running a story about a black woman who climbed up a pole at the Carolina State House and took down the Confederate flag. And that’s newsworthy??.
I’m guessing this is just another non-issue that the BBC wants to stick the boot into(those racist, white Deep South Americans).
How many innocent people have been killed by those expressing allegiance to the Confederate Flag? And how many millions of innocent people have been slaughtered by those expressing allegiance to the flag with a hammer and sickle?
Which one is the BBC launching a crusade to ban?
To be honest the hammer and sickle symbol should be treated like the swastika. But the BBC support it so it will never be treated in the manner it deserves.
Have you ever been to the Deep South? I have many times. They are pretty fucking in-your-face racists, let me assure you.
If they think they are in sympathetic company then it all pours out. I’m not some wet liberal, but even I found it shocking at times. I smiled an nodded along while asking “WTF?” inside.
It’s their prerogative I suppose. Their history. It’s not my business. I don’t think racism should be a crime, and certainly not an industry for lawyers, legislators and professional grievance mongers.
But… and there is always a but… please don’t tell me they aren’t fucking racists.
To be fair, they are often a bit full-on for our effete Anglicised tastes.
On a recent visit to rural Kentucky, I was looking at some properties with my girlfriend, when the local police turned up, having driven by and seen us mooching about.
The mirror-shades and cowboy-hat wearing officer recognised my girlfriend (she’s lived there all her life), calmed down and became very chatty, especially when he found out I was English (they luuurve the accent) and that I’m planning to move there permanently. The place is gorgeous, property dirt-cheap and the locals are very friendly.
I asked him, as a law-enforcement professional, whether there was much crime in the area.
“Crime?? Naaw. Ain’t got no nigguhs round here boy” was the scoffing response.
Assuming it’s the same flag, it’s not the Confederate Flag.
The Confederate Flag, would that it were flying over 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, is (not was) the Stars and Bars.
The flag the fuss was about was the Flag Robert E Lee used, which I think was when he commanded the Army of Western Virginia, but you will need to confirm this yourselves.
What should be of more concern is what happens when you use the Google ‘shopping’ tab. Try looking to buy your own ‘Confederate flag’.
If the bear dumps in the wood and no-one is there does the tree fall? If the BBC doesn’t report it did it happen? If Google returns no results does it exist?
‘They’ can’t hide things, ‘we’ have the internet – want to bet?
15 of our countrymen murdered by Muslim terrorist but “Hey Its Glastonbury!” There seems no tragedy here from the Beeb. None.
Are we or the media shrugging these killings off? Is this becoming like the “acceptable levels” that were experienced by the Northern Irish in the euphemistically called “Troubles”? but now perpetrated by the Religion of Peace?
I note that;
*Glastonbury (liberal middle-class w&nk fest so loved by the beed),
*Woman pulling down Confederate flag ( liberal middle-class w&nk fest so loved by the beed)
*Gay Pride March (liberal middle-class w&nk fest so loved by the beed)
…all still hold the front page on the BBC NEWS website.
The Civil War wasn’t fought over slavery or the rights of blacks. Indiana (a northern state) didn’t allow negroes to live there and in Illinois (another one) blacks couldn’t give evidence against whites in its law courts. Abraham Lincoln’s father-in-law was a slave owning plantation owner from Kentucky. Black slaves in areas captured from the Confederacy by the Union weren’t freed: they became slaves in the service of the Union. There was a regiment of free blacks which fought for the South.
The War was over the supremacy of the northern states over the South.
Lincoln’s view in a letter to Horace Greeley indicates slavery was not the determining issue in the Civil War.
My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that. What I do about slavery, and the colored race, I do because I believe it helps to save the Union; and what I forbear, I forbear because I do not believe it would help to save the Union.
In reply to Grant:
Correct: Lincoln did change his views but it was still not the cause of the war anymore than the closing down of the Nazi Concentration/Death camps was the reason Britain and France declared war on Germany in 1939.
My understanding was that Lincoln needed the support of Northern Blacks and escaped slaves because he was facing a manpower shortage. In addition he hoped that his Emancipation Proclamation would encourage mass disobedience in the Southern states which would handicap their war efforts and possibly lead to starvation.
This is in line with the pragmatism of his letter.
Henry is attacked because he is a race hustler. He has long since stopped being funny, maybe around the time he joined the bbc and they wrote drivel for him to shine in rather than follow his instinct for real humour. He now makes a living playing the race card. You might think this is ok, I do not.
Is this site reaching a new low? Denying that slavery was the cause of the Civil War is on a par with Holocaust deniers. Lincoln was elected on an anti-slavery platform which triggered succession.
The South thought that King Cotton being denied would force the British to recognise the Confederacy. Thousands of ordinary people lost their jobs as the mills closed. They NEVER wavered in their opposition to slavery and that Lincoln was fighting to end it.
From wiki
The British working class population, most notably the British cotton workers suffering the Lancashire Cotton Famine, remained consistently opposed to the Confederacy. A resolution of support was passed by the inhabitants of Manchester, and sent to Lincoln. His letter of reply has become famous:
I know and deeply deplore the sufferings which the working people of Manchester and in all Europe are called to endure in this crisis. It has been often and studiously represented that the attempt to overthrow this Government which was built on the foundation of human rights, and to substitute for it one which should rest exclusively on the basis of slavery, was likely to obtain the favour of Europe.
Through the action of disloyal citizens, the working people of Europe have been subjected to a severe trial for the purpose of forcing their sanction to that attempt. Under the circumstances I cannot but regard your decisive utterances on the question as an instance of sublime Christian heroism which has not been surpassed in any age or in any country. It is indeed an energetic and re-inspiring assurance of the inherent truth and of the ultimate and universal triumph of justice, humanity and freedom.
I hail this interchange of sentiments, therefore, as an augury that, whatever else may happen, whatever misfortune may befall your country or my own, the peace and friendship which now exists between the two nations will be, as it shall be my desire to make them, perpetual.
—Abraham Lincoln, 19 January, 1863
The attempt by the far right to rewrite history also denies our ancestors role in opposing it. British values were enshrined in the North. I grew up singing John Brown’s Body at Sunday School. His soul does go marching on and shame on anyone thinking that slavery was not at the heart of the War.
You seem to disregard the fact that Lincoln was a politician, after all it was he of the famous “You can fool some of the people some of the time…etc.” How do you reconcile deegee’s Lincoln quote above with your own?
The American Civil War was NOT fought over slavery; it would have been cheaper for the U.S. to have paid for the freedom of the slaves as the Brits did throughout their Empire and beyond, than to have fought a war which destroyed and cost so much. The only other country where slavery was supposedly ended by a war was Haiti.
The rewriting of history is the claim that Slavery was the cause of the Civil War. No it wasn’t. This was the victors rewriting history. Many Northern states were repatriating runaway slaves to the South up to the war. Lincoln didn’t like slavery but originally had no intention of abolishing it and alienating the South even more.
The war was purely about keeping the Union together (The Unionists) against breaking it up and forming a Conferacy in the South. (The Condererates) The abolition of slavery became an aim half way through the war.
Slavery was the proximate cause of the Civil War, but actually it was fought to decide if the USA was a unitary state with federal characteristics (the North’s view), or a federation of sovereign states (the South’s view). The North won, so the USA is a unitary state with federal characteristics.
The parallel with the EU is clear. Britain holds the view roughly of the South, France and Germany of the North. France and Germany are right. The EU was set up to be a supranational union, not a federation of sovereign states. While we can still leave, we should. I don’t want the Union Flag to be looked down on like the Stars and Bars in 150 years’ time.
My great great grandfather was in America in Lincoln’s time and records that he shook his hand. Great great grandfather left his memoirs for his descendants and records what he thought, he didn’t think much of Lincoln. Lincoln’s history will have been rewritten by the left, go back to original sources for a true evaluation.
“I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in anyway the social and political equality of the white and black races – that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality.
And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race. I say upon this occasion I do not perceive that because the white man is to have the superior position the negro should be denied everything.”
Gosh !! There seems to be a lot of rewriting of history.
I read also some Northern States didn’t want slavery, not because they liked blacks, but because it was cheap labour and drove down the wages of the white man.
Deborah, Lincoln was assassinated in 1865.
I very much doubt your Great Grandfather could have shaken Lincoln’s hand unless he was a baby at the time and you are a centenarian.
My greatgrandmother’s father (ie two greats) travelled to the U.S. in 1842 as a boy of 18. I could give you the name of the boat if I went and looked it up, went to New Orleans and traded down into New Mexico and Brownsville, and the Rio Grande. He returned to Europe in 1869 partly to marry and partly because of the civil war and lived in Paris. I have two volumes of his memoirs written at the end of the 19th century. He died in 1907. Please feel free to ask anything else except my age but I am over 40.
Last night I came back from Strasbourg where there were armed military patrols around the Cathedral and all the other tourists places. And when I checked out of Manchester airport there were soldiers with sub-machine guns. Who or what are we pretending not to be at war with?
“The BBC has “set a precedent” for other media organisations by publishing a list of links removed from Google searches, the corporation’s policy boss has said.
The links were removed as part of the “right to be forgotten” ruling put in place by the European court. It allows individuals to request certain links do not show up when a person searches their name. The BBC published a full list of stories that had been removed so far.”
… and the argument for publishing lists of names of people who don’t wish to appear in Google seach engines?
David Jordan, head of editorial policy said, “It’s impossible to have a meaningful debate if you’ve not got an idea about what’s being de-listed,” he said.
Next precedent? Will the BBC publish the Danish Mohammed and Charlie Hebdo cartoons using the same argument?
“It’s impossible to have a meaningful debate if you’ve not got an idea about what’s being de-listed,” he said.”
BBC brave to raise the topic of meaningful debate given their reaction often to concerns raised in complaints or FoIs. Clearly some purposes serve a higher calling than others.
These concerns too often involve editorial by omission.
There’s a recent Speccie piece by Douglas Murray about a ‘debate’ he was having with a Muslim scholar, when the latter demanded some factually accurate exchanges were censored. The BBC complied.
Mr. Jordan’s meaningful thoughts on such ‘de-listing’ would be interesting.
Isn’t it telling that when a Christian couple refuse to bake a gay couple a cake, the Left howl and shout at Christians calling them intolerant and out of step with modern ‘progressive’ (another term for self-indulgence) living? However, when a Muslim terrorist savage machine guns tourists on a beach it has nothing to do with religion. The West is doomed. Millions of young people have been brainwashed into Islamic submission i.e. afraid to even criticise the most appalling acts carried out by the religion’s followers. We are in trouble.
I ll finished it for you ….
“We are in trouble”…. because of …
MPs undermining efforts to tackle extremism by deliberately downplaying the seriousness of “Trojan Horse”
Cameron grooming up Islamic adherents for top office
Police, who for the past 5 years. (come on, and for how much longer eh?), knew all about Islamic rape gangs specifically targeting schools, … and did nothing, because of an election
Failure by Camoron even yesterday to call Islamic terrorism what it is, failure to acknowledge the root cause repeated ad nauseum
by every Islamic terrorist going, chapter and verse Mohamhead s example etc etc.
Its those with political power, the No 10 fuckwits, the same grasping
self serving toff incompetents, who will be soon hammering the poorest, most vulnerable in our society.
Anyone else noticing how the French Muslim beheading story has quietly slipped down the BBC website page – in fact as I write, a report on the England’s women football team is given precedence; cannot have more than one Islamic atrocity as headline news I suppose. Damage limitation me thinks.
For obvious reasons I have deliberately sought to minimise my exposure to BBC news this weekend.
What little I have taken in seems to contain a pretty definite narrative – The Tunisian tourist industry is a precious thing and a few dead British tourists is a small price to pay for the well being of said business.
This is an odd message from our liberal media which recently laid into a tour operator with a stick over deaths in a holiday apartment due to faulty local maintenance.
What could possibly account for this odd concern? The only solution is the precious Arab Spring – the last untarnished jewell in Jeremy Bowen’s crown.
No doubt Bowen, Marr, VD and the rest will lead by example and send us reports of their holidays in Tunisia on a daily basis. They could arrange to go next year and ‘celebrate’ the 100 year anniversary of the first day of the battle of The Somme. I wonder if they could provide some blood and gore to make it a truly special day to remember ?
The Left and the BBC have been against Austerity and cuts to any government spending . Originally the Greeks were the good guys standing up to bankers .
But the Greeks look as though they are going to exit the Euro, and even the EU . Heaven forbid . The project is threatened.
Now it’s the Greeks as bad guys , thoughtless , rash , not knowing what is good for them .
( Although it has to be said , because they want it both ways , having the Euro and no austerity they are better than the English, who want out for democratic and sovereign reasons , not self interest ).
So how would the National Socialist People’s paradise do as an independent state in the project ?
Funny how the Scottish Nazi Party bemoan those ‘nasty’ Tory privatisation agendas whilst they, themselves, have privatised elements of the NHS supplies/tendering in Scotland. Also, they are looking quite open to the possibility of privatisation of parts of the ferry services to Scottish islands in the north. In a few words, they’re a bunch of hypocrites! They want full fiscal autonomy (but only when they can afford it); they want independence (but only when they think the populace has changed to the degree that a yes vote is probable) and they want rid of nuclear weapons (but still want to remain under the protection of NATO). They’re a disgrace!
Nibor, what do you mean by ..they are better than the English, who want out for democratic and sovereign reasons , not self interest. ?
Is it not ‘self interest’ to regain one’s sovereignty and control over one’s nation’s destiny? Is this not a noble aim? Are you suggesting the Greeks are ‘better’ than we English?
And never forget – The English have a work ethic, the Greeks don’t.
No he is watched by the BBC Tristans who weep for the miners then go next door to the green-piss hut and weep over the horrors done by the coal industry !
I only caught a few moments but it was significant.
A muslim male on the panel said that Britain was more muslim than most muslim countries. That comment got me thinking.
Perhaps he’s right? Is that part of the immigrant motivation?
The next section of the programme dealt with immigration. An immigrant from the Calais camp gave his heart breaking story set to gently emotive piano music.
Calais was terrible apparently and he only felt safe when in London.
Spokesman from Amnesty next. He said all immigrants were asylum seekers not economic.
I could see the way the narrative was going and switched off.
I think the British, under Liebour, have become more cowardly than other countries; in essence, the Left have utterly decimated any sense of English pride through their repulsive political correctness schemes. But, and a big but, I feel that the English have had enough of leftie politics (rejecting Liebour and kicking them in the ballots) and are slowly fighting back and rejecting the vile and treacherous Marxist politics of filth. There remains one big problem: the media and our education systems have been seized by the far-Left; if we could destroy the BBC and reclaim academia from the sandal-wearing, home-made organic preserves brigade we might be able to rescue our youth away from this Islamic dhimmitude/servitude. It won’t be easy, but it could be our only hope if we are to see an English patriotism restored.
You can blame it all on Political Correctness. The British public have been conned for years that it was some kind of law of the land. Its merely code pushed out by our ‘so called’ independent and impartial Al Beeb. A broadcaster whose employees are of the ‘arty farty’, drama queen, and sociology media study groups of graduates that have never worked out in industry or the real world.
Yes, flexdream you’re right, so apologies to all my friends from Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. I should say British as I am a proud unionist and value my brethren from our different nations.
A muddled discussion on Sunday Live this morning – are we ignorant of Islam? The inference being, if we think Islam is to do with terrorism, then hadn’t we better educate ourselves and understand what Islam actually is? The answer was obvious, and to be fair, pointed out in the comments at the end of the discussion – that it’s not the wider non-Muslim population you need to convince – it’s the extremists
The extremists are steeped in knowledge of Islam, that’s the problem. They don’t know enough that’s not about Islam. Muslims who don’t take Islam that seriously and are ignorant about some of its teachings are not the problem.
Alan.
STOP REFERRING TO THESE ***** AS IMMIGRANTS, NOW.
This description can be interpreted as giving these ***** some legitimacy.
They are unwanted invaders. We have a legal right and a historical responsibility to kill them.
There are millions of European dead in cemeteries who would despise us.
They had the Head of BBC Religious Bro9adcasting – Mr Ahmed – extolling his big expenditure and effort across all types of media for the “MyRamadan” project. That is – pushing Islam at us through every means possible – including weather forecasts ! He was proud of the whole business. He mentioned that there might be other (unnnamed) events in the religious calendar that could get similar coverage. But ain’t it odd that it is Is;lam that gets this huge promotion and propaganda effort.
What the hell have we come to that we allow the BRITISH Broadcasting Corpoiration to be used as a vehicle for Muslim proseletising ? Did BBC management not expect this to happen when they appointed this man ?
It is bad enough having Islam sanitised by the BBC at every turn, and having history programmes warped to give Islam a good reputation. But to have a Muslim bragging on a Sunday morning – 2 days after a another set of Islamic atrocities – about the propaganda effort right across all BBC outlets this month is really offensive.
Islam is in a real and murderous mess worldwide – every news bulletin reflects this. Until they sort themselves out, they should be debarred from the airwaves, not given CONTROL of the airwaves !
Great comment, John. Islam is causing mayhem worldwide AGAIN and the BBC and the Left seem to be more concerned about not hurting Muslims’ feelings. However, as Alex said above, if Christians refuse gay marriage or a cake, the BBC brings out the witchfinder general to instil discipline within the ranks. Unbelievable that the populace have become so brainwashed that they cannot realise what’s going on.
Imagine if there were 2 million white Christians living in Pakistan.
And at regular intervals.,Christians would attack and kill muslims both in Pakistan and world wide. And that groups of Christians would openly demonstrate in the street their hatred of Pakistan’s military and police.
And that groups of Christian men would groom hundreds of young muslim girls for rape.
What would the chances be of a white Christian becoming the Head of Religion on Pakistan television?
What would the chances be of a white Christian becoming a member of their Parliament?
And would any Pakistani criticism of Christians be labelled as Christianaphobia?
The Home Secretary of the British parliament, Teresa May, said this morning.
1. That Islam is a peaceful religion.
2. That further security measures are being taken not just against Muslim extremists but all extremists, including right wing/Nazi organisations.
What right wing/Nazi groups have decapitated a soldier of Her Majesties Forces, blown up buses or trains, gunned down holiday makers, crashed planes into buildings, killed ambassadors, raped thousands of British children, etc., etc., that you know about lately?
There are however groups that see Islam as the enemy of Britain and like to march peacefully to highlight the issue. The same groups that are attacked by Muslims, left wing fools and the BBC. Could it be these groups that she is referring to as right wing/Nazi groups?
3. The government has today advised people not to travel to Tunisia because it is a troubled Muslim country. Yet we have in this country 5 million Muslims that are, so the government says, peaceful. The irony is truly magnificent to behold!
The fable of the kings new clothes is nothing compared to the refusal to see, by our so called, leaders, what is blatantly obvious to small children and 99% of the good folks of this country.
A terrible madness has inflicted the politicians and media organisations of this and the other countries of Europe, Scandinavia and the USA.
The problem of the murderous cult is growing and our people are still being sacrificed on the altar of political correctness and cowardice.
And the headline item/picture on bbc.co.uk? Women’s football.
Have I gone mad, this cannot be happening, my sanity has departed, I am finally ga-ga, help me please, help me?
I have to say how worrying it is to see the throngs of jackbooted, swastika wearing thugs on my travels around the UK and how reassuring it is that our 1 Watt brained Home Secretary is planning to take action against them.
It’s so comforting to have a government that has its priorities right.
Since she’s so tough, I suppose she’ll be arresting people for being members of that terrorist group UKIP soon before they start cutting off immigrants’ heads. It’s reassuring to have such tough and vigorous government. I just know everything’s going to be OK now.
It’s not you mate it’s them. Let’s see what happens when one of them gets their just deserts from one of their newly arrived ‘friends’ . There will be a sudden realisation that the brown eyed boys are a real danger to our wonderful leaders and their own families. THEN we will see some action, however hundreds of you plebs can die beforehand without any action taken.
#MyRamadan, it appears that 4% of the population are having 400% of the coverage of religion on the Biased Broad Crescent.
Al BBC 1 Sunday Muslim Live today a prime example.
An Islamic adherent whose stock answer appeared to be “I used to work in a hospital”, and the always irritating Mansoor, who continually stops everyone else s opinion, whilst hogging time for himself.
and … Whose that guy on the scoreboard? pronounces Allah like a pro
… along with copious ramadamabingbong show sorted.
BBC doesn t like the viewers vote anymore? … wonder why 😀
I thought gameshow Nicky’s Sunday morning show was ‘retard TV’ but Sian ‘please stop arguing’ William’s is just comical.
Look at Tommy Sandhu, now ain’t he funny, oh these muslims, they’re just like us really, love a bit of a laugh! Why didn’t they pick up on the NHS doctor having travelled all over the world at the expense of the NHS…not so cash strapped after all?
The only people it would appeal to is 6th form students who have just got in from a drug fuelled night in the local park..they’d be asleep in minutes.
Compare this morning’s show with Daily Politics, straight after, and it was like chalk and cheese..Williams stuck with the ‘nothing to do with islam’ line when it came to the festival of death’s atrocities while Andrew Neil’s show for grown ups had the Quilliam spokesman, Maajid Nawaz, actually stating that “Of course it’s to do with islam, who else has done it”.
Not the bbc, not the spineless jellyfish camoron but a prominent speaker on islamic extremism. For once, the truth, and not the usual bbc/gvnmnt reaction of…la,la,la, not happening, nothing to see, lets get back to the other disaster of our day the EU.
Daily Politics was actually a decent watch for once, Neil even treated Nigel Farage with a modicum of seriousness, maybe because they realize that the things he has been saying for years are actually true and are nothing to do with racism…a bit like Nick Griffin on the grooming scandal..grooming scandal? What grooming scandal? Nothing to see here, oh no, wait a minute…bbc lying traitorous scum.
I must admit, that Sunday Politics show this morning was exemplary in actually having a candid discussion about the nature of the threat / ideology we face – was genuinely shocked, as this is exactly the kind of analysis that is missing on the BBC and others.
The had Maajid Nawaz, of the Quilliam Foundation, who really told it like it is, going after the empty platitudes of politicians (“nothing to do with Islam”) and criticising the hesitancy of many in the west to even name the ideology we face.
Tim Marshall, ex. Sky News, also spoke candidly about the
worldview of IS, and the lack of a counter narrative from mainstream media & mosques in the middle east.
I’d say it’s well worth a watch, as it was actually an honest analysis of the issue, debating actual root causes and potential solutions, rather than gloss over with politically correct platitudes
Odyssey BBC2 tonight “New series. Double bill. During a mission with her US army special ops team in Mali, North Africa, Sgt Odelle Ballard stumbles upon encrypted files that prove a major American corporation is secretly funding terrorists”
As usual, the enemy within, but I bet a £ to a pinch of sh*t that the corporation will be driven by nasty capitalist greed rather than being ideologically connected with the real enemy within.
Special Ops soldier is a girl. Enemy is American business/ capitalism. Terrorist threat is created by the Americans. You can almost hear the boxes being ticked.
Will there be a bad, white CIA spook? Will there be a good, innocent, suffering Muslim? Will she face opposition from ‘above’. Will there be a good black person to help her? Will she be strong and independent? Will she be young and photogenic? Who can say ….
111 terror attacks, 21 suicide bombings, 1065 dead bodies and
1275 wounded, this Ramadan alone, its only day 11!.
One can ascertain, that is NOT an example of great peacefulness.
… Meanwhile
Wavy Davey “nothing to do with Islam” Camoron
Ramadan Special 2015
“So, as families, friends and communities come together at Iftar each evening, I hope all of them … AND EVERYONE ELSE ACROSS BRITAIN! … will reflect on the universal values that Ramadan represents? … and the contribution? that British Muslims make to our country.
… Ramadan Mubarak to you all.”
Simple answer, he doesn t … like everything else that comes out of his mouth he s lying.
“couldn t lie straight in bed”
They do however donate more for terrorism through charity front groups though!
maybe … that’s what he mean t?
… no wait 😀
When we donate to charity , we don’t declare our faith as we put the shekels into the tin .
If we put money into a charity ,we do it for reasons other than a statement of our religion . Or that was the case before .
We could donate to Christian Aid or Oxfam purely for altruistic reasons , even though we are not Christian .
We could also , as Christians , donate money to a charity that is not of our faith , like the Red Crescent .
We could donate to a faith based charity even if we were secular, or didn’t believe in any religion .
We could believe in a religion but donate to a secular , non religious charity .
How is it computed so that spiv Cameron got his figures ?
Is he saying that only Muslims donate to Muslim charities , and other religions charities only garner support from their respective adherents?
Is this the way to go ?
Do non secular charities like the RSPB get more money than faith based charities ?
( As an aside where does the RSPB get most of its money ? )
I thought charity was supposed to be a personal thing , widows mite and all that , not a football supporters style sense of belonging to further a cause .
“Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) has been designated as a terrorist group by the United Arab Emirates, the second Middle Eastern country to do so within the past five months. In June, IRW was declared illegal by Israel for being a financial conduit to Hamas, and it was banned from operating in Israel and the West Bank.” https://moneyjihad.wordpress.com/tag/islamic-relief-uk/
The only instances which come to mind of Muslims “fighting in the skies”, are those when they’ve hijacked passenger planes throughout the past forty years; and murdered lots of innocent people.
Muslims served loyally in the British armed forces. In 1940 the idea that a British muslim subject (or colonial subject) would attack and kill British civilians would have seemed preposterous. It is only in these enlightened, less racist, more diverse, tolerant and more liberal times that it could be seen as inevitable.
I’d like to see wanker Dave have a visit to Rusholme (a caliphate near Manchester) to see the ‘family values’ when ramadan ends…only, don’t take your daughters, Dave.
“and EVERYONE ELSE ACROSS BRITAIN! … will reflect on the universal values that Ramadan represents?

yeah right!
Hmm…tricky one.
He`s Labour-so usually safe(the Harman/Hewiit defence).
But he`s Jewish(which didn`t help McShane as I recall overmuch).
Still-he`ll remember to file for expenses, whilst going all Ernest Saunders on us re the details-and if he`s to be believed he won`t remember what we say in court…so who gives a stuff?
Oh big brave teenage spotty faced keyboard warrior eh !!!!!
Sticks and stones sad little man, sticks and stones.
What’s your next exclusive from the web, 9/11 was a conspiracy by the Jews or elvis is working in Tesco’s ?
Get back under your stone, you lower the discourse pal.
OK, I shall leave, and you will deprived, for ever if not longer, of my contributions. Contributions which extol the virtues of the extinction of the Labour Party. The exportation of all so-called immigrants. The death by whatever nasty means we can devise of all associated, however tenuously, with the BBC. Etc.
This mornings Broadcasting House was a gem.
The papers review panel had our Krishnan from Channle 4 as well as some dozy bluestocking who fronted us up against Islam…and some bloke who was announced as a piano player.
Clearly our piano man had issues re mental health though-maybe that John Ogden fixation or Geoffrey Rush-for the bloke wouldn`t shut up about how great it was that Andy Murray saw a nutcracker-or shrink as we professionals call ourselves!
Utter tripe and bilge-let`s all go to Tunisia now there`s a few liberals leaving posies where the British died-oh, and lots more dosh please to the bloke who found hotels for the Life of Brian cast back in 79!
Eh?
But the worst was to come.
Listen-if you dare, and you`ve not had your insulin-to Alvin Hall do an Alistair Cookie, and explain to us how Obama`s Sister Act 3 tribute in Charleston puts us all to shame.
We really don`t deserve this colossus-and his rectum is way to good for our heads, let alone Alvins.
No wonder the Chipmunks fired him-what a suckup of saccharine he was.
Could we not send Hall to Greece, seeing as he`s something in money isn`t he? Usual BBC blowhard who gets the Business Correspondent gig, seeing he knows diddly about finances?
Nauseating radio-Obama is the biggest con artist since Jimmy Swaggert-but the BBC let him slag off trannies and say “nigger” because he`s Obama.
Crokkashite!
Worraprikk!
An interesting response from the denial department:
“Our journalists cannot take a stance or hold an opinion on any public issue, in fact they’re specifically prohibited from expressing a view of our own. Impartiality is partly dependent on balance and it’s simply not possible to achieve that with every report. ”
“Our editors aim to do justice to the full range of views and opinions on particular issues across a period of time.”
I would contend that BBC journos absolutely do take a stance and do impose their own opinions, especially of the left wing liberal variety.
Specifically prohibited? What happens when they transgress that ?
“Obviously no connection to the Muslim Head of Religious Broadcasting there. Perish the thought.”
The very same ‘Muslim Head of Religious Broadcasting’ that brought you:
BBC TV and Radio celebrates Easter with raft of religious programming http://bbc.in/1LwIawW
“yohoho” is talking bollocks. What he describes as “Ramadan on songs of praise” was a report about a Christian church giving a handful of local Muslims a space to worship after their mosque burnt down.
Do you make a habit of believing everything you read – as long as it’s on the internet?
Brits were the main victims in Tunisia – an atrocity that killed at least 15 of them, probably more to come.
But I have not heard the BBC once use the word TERRORIST to describe the murderer. He is usually described as a gunman or some other euphemism. The T word is used only if it is in directly someone else’s comments.
Even Cameron used the T word several times in his statements – but the BBC still largely avoiding it ? Even when a large number of holidaymakers are killed in cold blood. The BBC did this after the Dahab terrorism on the Red Sea a few years ago, and after Bali etc. It still seems that the only time the BBC used the T word consistently is if it happens in the UK – and they were forced to do that after initially scrubbing the T word from their reports of the 7/7 bombings in 2005.
Orla Guerin has now reported – she ends by saying that people are praying where flowers have been left on the beach – and “…asking Why”. How does she know what is in their minds, presumptious fool. And I bet a lot of them know damn well why. It is caused by teachings and ideology rooted in Islam – whatever the BBC tries to twist into people’s minds.
The BBC have been doing this “Why” meme of theirs since Dunblane and beforehand.
Bet it`s done by the likes of Orla herself.
Very John Lennon/Imagine emoting-so allowing the Islamic murderers of today to sneak off on dinghies or camels-the slower, the more contemptible.
Here`s the answer Orla…why?
“Because they want to”-and they can do-and shitstix like yourself continue to cover up evils tracks for them.
Whether its Saviles spunk stains or Jihadi Johns blood soaked footprints-rest assured that the BBC are there to cover up for both of `em.
When I hear the word Muslim or Islam in any of their reflux musings, I will listen-until then, I just know that the EU/UN and BBC are “all in this together”.
The BBC are in the spin business not the truth business – they seek to construct Leftist narratives. A Leftist narrative serves political ends. Truth subverts these narratives, which is why Leftists so often try to talk over anybody that offers an alternative view. The “No Platform” approach is an extension of this approach. It is a case of pump up the emotional volume and ignore uncomfortable (for them) facts.
If they believed in truth they would welcome a plurality of narratives, but they don’t, they are narcissists who believe in power and nothing else. Politics for them is little more than a way of living off everybody else, and venting their hatred of the world for not giving them as much as they would like.
As I say the Left are essentially narcissists. It is an infantile condition that people who engage in a reality other than themselves will grow out of once they have other people to consider other than themselves.
Sorry to be pedantic Lakesman, but it’s “toe the line”.
I thought I had better get that one out of the way before one of the BBC fan club spots it!
I think you know who I mean!
‘Tow the line’ does jar a bit when I come across it, but for me it evokes an image of licence-fee contributors towing this giant monster of a BBC ship with their own labour while BBC ‘journalists’ sunbathe on the deck eating watermelon.
I’d like to know who that ‘Greek’ was who closed the banks.
Reminds me of another example of the BBC’s slipping standards:
Some fool wrote ‘Britains’ when he should have written ‘Britons’ – demonstrating that you don’t have to know anything about being British to get a job at the BBC.
It’s undeniable that the BBC operates a policy that discriminates against white British natives, however much it might like to dress it up in language designed to conceal what it really is.
Curiously, it also seems to discriminate against older women, which gives us an insight into the confused mess of cognitive dissonance that passes for intelligence at Broadcasting House.
I would like to know what dez, scott et al think about the way that bbbc are pushing Ramadan. After all, you do not see the same hard sell for diwali ,or any other religious festival for that matter, and, if the figures are to be believed, they account for a similar amount of the”uk”population.?
“I would like to know what dez, scott et al think about the way that bbbc are pushing Ramadan”
What “pushing” would that be? Sunday Morning Live included a two minute preface about Ramadan before a discussion about Islamic terrorism.
What “yohoho” described as; “Ramadan on songs of praise”, was actually a three & a half minute report about a Christian church giving a handful of local Muslims a space to worship after their mosque burnt down.
Hardly,“pushing Ramadan”.
“After all, you do not see the same hard sell for diwali ,or any other religious festival for that matter…”
BBC TV and Radio celebrates Easter with raft of religious programming http://bbc.in/1LwIawW
Of course there should be a raft of Easter porogramming. This is still a Christian country
The Muslim Head of BBC Religious Broadcasting himself stated on Radio 4 this morning that Ramadan was being publicised through every means possibly – inclusing social media – under his “MyRamadan” project.
“The Muslim Head of BBC Religious Broadcasting himself stated on Radio 4 this morning that Ramadan was being publicised through every means possibly”
No he did not say that. He said they were experimenting with social media, with the clearly stated objective of doing the same for other religions as well.
All of which pales into insignificance compared to the amount of mainstream religious programming centred around Easter on BBC1, BBC2, Radio2, Radio3 & Radio4.
“Of course there should be a raft of Easter porogramming”
I’m showing one of our fellow EU citizens around the local recreation ground. A cricket match is taking place between two Pakistani-heritage teams and various adult supporters are watching on from the boundary line. Behind them, young ‘new Britons’ are getting to grips with the basics of the game with their own bat and ball. The very soul of integration, (except that apart from us passers by there is not a white face to be seen).
Just as we pass between the adults and children, (about fifteen feet apart), one of the seated adults expresses his criticism of one of the adult players by calling out loudly, “Stop playing like a f***ing black n**ger”.
Fortunately we have embraced ‘vibrancy’ and ‘diversity’ so I was able to pass by without taking ‘offence’, but that is probably my ‘white privilege’ dulling my senses.
I used to play cricket on a Sunday morning with my mates, the league was funded by a local brewer, JW Lees, who run a lot of the pubs in the area.
Most Lees’ pubs had a team, it was a great laugh, a few decent players and many very dodgy ones! But all amateur.
Then a team of pakistanis from Oldham joined the league, running from a pub local to them, the league was wound up within two years.
They brought semi pro players in under false names, they played 12 year old kids to make up the numbers, they cheated at any opportunity which caused a few fights. The final straw was the challenge cup final where they brought in around five semi pro’s from the Lancs league, they walked the game.
Every team refused to play them if they were allowed to play the following season..end of league. I despise the c**ts, I’ve had plenty of contact with them and none of it positive, I don’t care what the PC brigade tell me to think, the country would be a far better place without every one of them.
I genuinely thought no one could have been so bloody stupid as to have posted that and assumed it was the work of the moronic troll who has been infesting this site, impersonating commenters for the purpose of making them look like complete idiots.

Sorry, but that’s bollocks.

God it makes my blood boil.

As an addendum, you’re wrong.

I don’t think it does unite them. Their hatred of each other seems the No. 1 priority on their lengthy list of hates.

I note that;
*Glastonbury (liberal middle-class w&nk fest so loved by the beed),
*Woman pulling down Confederate flag ( liberal middle-class w&nk fest so loved by the beed)
*Gay Pride March (liberal middle-class w&nk fest so loved by the beed)
…all still hold the front page on the BBC NEWS website.

The American Civil War was very complex.
Picking on a flag has no historical significance.

I suspect we have reached the point where quoting Wikipedia should be regarded as the equivalent of invoking Godwin’s Law.

Lincoln on black people.

BBC forgotten list ‘sets precedent’

A price worth paying

Is it not ‘self interest’ to regain one’s sovereignty and control over one’s nation’s destiny? Is this not a noble aim? Are you suggesting the Greeks are ‘better’ than we English?
And never forget – The English have a work ethic, the Greeks don’t.

Get my drift?

If true, they were a very few of the few, it means nothing. Most of all doesn’t mean that they can’t be our enemy today…
Such a line is worthy of the bBC propaganda dept…

The only instances which come to mind of Muslims “fighting in the skies”, are those when they’ve hijacked passenger planes throughout the past forty years; and murdered lots of innocent people.

Muslims served loyally in the British armed forces. In 1940 the idea that a British muslim subject (or colonial subject) would attack and kill British civilians would have seemed preposterous. It is only in these enlightened, less racist, more diverse, tolerant and more liberal times that it could be seen as inevitable.

Many white Rhodesians (such as Ian Smith) also ‘fought for us in the skies in WW2’. Hopefully the PM can mention them too.

But he`s Jewish(which didn`t help McShane as I recall overmuch).
Still-he`ll remember to file for expenses, whilst going all Ernest Saunders on us re the details-and if he`s to be believed he won`t remember what we say in court…so who gives a stuff?

OK, I shall leave, and you will deprived, for ever if not longer, of my contributions. Contributions which extol the virtues of the extinction of the Labour Party. The exportation of all so-called immigrants. The death by whatever nasty means we can devise of all associated, however tenuously, with the BBC. Etc.
Pity really, I felt quite at home here.

Nothing because there’s always a denial !

The very same ‘Muslim Head of Religious Broadcasting’ that brought you:

I think being British is a definite disadvantage to being employed by them, unless you are “British”.

After all, you do not see the same hard sell for diwali ,or any other religious festival for that matter, and, if the figures are to be believed, they account for a similar amount of the”uk”population.?

brett,
“I would like to know what dez, scott et al think about the way that bbbc are pushing Ramadan”

Of course there should be a raft of Easter porogramming. This is still a Christian country
The Muslim Head of BBC Religious Broadcasting himself stated on Radio 4 this morning that Ramadan was being publicised through every means possibly – inclusing social media – under his “MyRamadan” project.
So quit lying Dez.

John Anderson,
“The Muslim Head of BBC Religious Broadcasting himself stated on Radio 4 this morning that Ramadan was being publicised through every means possibly”
And, just as you wish, there has been.
So what exactly is your problem?

A scene of which the BBC would no doubt approve:-
I’m showing one of our fellow EU citizens around the local recreation ground.
