Championing TV

John Whittingdale has made a speech about the BBC...He ends with this positive note…

Finally, I want to say something very simple.

The UK television industry is celebrated and loved across the world. It provides a huge number of jobs and generates massive economic activity. It informs and entertains.

The years ahead promise to be tremendously exciting for the industry.

I see it as a huge privilege to be the Government’s television champion at this time.

The Guardian has a run down of the speech and of the appointment of an Ex-Bank of England deputy governor to lead review into BBC regulation…I’ll let you read them at your leisure…but one sentence stood out…

In a speech at the RTS television festival in Cambridge on Thursday, Sharon White, the head of Ofcom, is expected to talk about the huge impact adding BBC governance to her department would make.

Complaints to the BBC dwarf all other broadcasters combined.

Yes but they are all unfounded – the BBC told me so.

“Complaints to the BBC dwarf all other broadcasters combined.” While we, who live in a so called democratic country are forced by law to pay for a biased and propaganda service .

If that is via OFCOM it will be more as most know it doesn’t handle most category of BBC complaint and will only kick them back to the Trust to dispose of.

He promised: “Let me be clear there is no threat to the BBC’s status as a world class broadcaster – let alone an existential threat.”

This means we have to wait until after the next general election before there is a chance that MPs might be elected to curb the BBC

“there is no threat to the BBC’s status as a world class broadcaster”
Correct, it lost that status years ago. As time passes it looks ever more unlikely that the status will be regained.

Which suits the BBC just fine, it is quite content to be the most anti British, anti White, self-serving, self-promoting, self-satisfied, bite the hand that feeds you, smugly superior in attitude, wealthy, organisation that has ever existed.

Which is why it has to go, by any means whatsoever.

Cannot be bothered to listen to all 30 minutes. But if the quote is faithful to what he said, then he only praised the ‘UK Television service’. This does not show that it includes the BBC. When is Whittingdale going to chastise the bBC for their bias.
