It`s the BBC godawful morality that gets me.
Last Word had Howard Marks(Mr Nice…drug dealer and dope fiend as lionised by the liberal media) a few weeks ago,
Yesterday it had another lowlife eulogised on the same show-this one basically robbed “vulnerable toff totty” and screwed over everybody he met-and whose wallet he was able to dip into…loads of names and aliases, which the shows talking head thought rather raffish…as if these dotty totties deserved it all.
Funny that-doesn`t apply to the honest ones like Camerons dad, the dodgy ones like a Goodwin or any other banker-who deserve venom according to the Beeb, and certainly not any eulogies or nods/winks of being a scally-but a heart of gold nonetheless.
Sick of it-as indeed I am over yet another pointless suicide of a fashion media star-Isabella Blow, Alexander McQueen and now one Sally Brampton( no, me neither-but she`ll be on Last Word very soon , no doubt).
Why-it`s as if being famous and a media fashion horse(or horse trainer) isn`t all it`s cracked to be-certainly more suicides than most other “industries”.
But no inquest-no wishes to ban THAT lethal service-nor will there be.
“Richard Cory” needs a play-but we`ll never hear it with the Beautiful People running the BBC.
No Nina Nana, no Rosie Millard or Gompertz laddies…still though-Donald Trump needs stopping, even though HE`S killed no-one yet…
A different angle on this.
The biased BBC’s consistent narrative over many years is that pharma companies are evil. After all, they make a profit out of the misery and misfortune of others, and how moral is that, they snidily suggest. Fancy not supplying the NHS at cost. Just look at all those free AIDS drugs they have been armtwisted to supply. Of course the BBC’s mindset to the private sector would shame Lenin.
But in this case. What strange bedfellows. Pfizer are suddenly the bBBC’s best buddies for their principled stand on supplying lethal but legal drugs for legal executions.
What a total load of utter hypocrisy comes out of our beloved state broadcaster.
….but back to normal this morning (Mon). On Toady there is absolute consternation because the government is reducing the special budget for NICE unapproved cancer drugs and….OMG……. the pharma companies who researched, developed, and tested them (at their own expense of course – no pharma ‘licence fee’ for them) want to make a profit. Which of course in biased BBC land is totally not on. I mean, making a profit out of someone’s cancer. Surely they should be supplied free of charge on a charity basis……….

Midlands Today, the BBC’s local evening news in the West Midlands, on Friday headlined a story about the EU and the price of food. I was surprised that they would promote an anti-EU story like that.
I needn’t have worried, when they got to the story they told us how EU farming subsidies kept the price of food down!
This is an outright lie. We pay through our taxes to give the farmers greater rewards for what they produce, i.e. the price to us doesn’t go down, the reward to the farmer goes up and we pay the top up. The wonderful ‘single market’ erects a tariff barrier on food imported into the EU, so as to effectively raise the price to prevent competition from outside the EU.
If we were outside the EU we could have a zero tariff on imported food, which would kick-start agriculture in Africa, raising living standards there and reducing the ‘need’ for migration. We would then benefit from cheaper food. We might choose to subsidise our farmers rather than inefficient French farmers if we wanted to maintain our agriculture.
Indeed the point of the ‘single market’ is to lock us into a protected market of half a billion people and cut of from the other six and a half billion in the ‘free’ world.

More to the point. We are subsidising, in a badly biased system, inefficient French farmers, non existent Greek olive groves and tobacco production and numerous other scams. At the price of our own food prices and the decimation of OUR farming industry.

If you have young children you have to move out because the in comers apart from West Indians are not integrating and they don’t feel the need to because there are so many of them. Green Street ,which Newham Council treats like a jewel in its Crown ,is indeed like downtown Baghdad.
My son also went to the local sixth form college ,like one of the guys in the Daily mail article and was the only white boy and in the end gave up because he could not make friends with the mainly Muslim students.He was socially isolated. It’s ironic that I brought up my kids to be welcoming and friendly to all and he had no problem with West Indians and African friends he went to school with and remains good friends with them.
I would say 70,000 immigrants over 15 years is a huge understatement of fact and I’d like to know where the BEEB conjured up that figure from.If it was only 70,000 there wouldn’t be so much of a problem.Its way more than that.

Since I’m outside the UK, there are only a few BBC programmes I can access on its website after the fact. One of them is ‘Any Questions,’ and I clicked on the latest example of the latter after being referred to it by my eminent colleagues on this site.
I usually click on ‘mute’ when the Green’s Jenny Jones spouts her uninformed rubbish but I didn’t this time and was surprised to hear her express loathing of the EU.
Liam Fox was good on Brexit, though disappointing when he joined the rest of the motley crew in not challenging the BBC. It was a good opportunity to point out the partiality in the BBC’s stance on the EU.
Rachel Reeves regurgitated the standard left-wing nonsense on Donald Trump, proving that she knows nothing about him.
Paddy Ashdown was unlistenable to, as always, and showed a lack of respect by arriving in a suit that looked like he’d slept in it. I guess he figured that since it was radio there would be no need to look decent and was surprised when the photo was taken:

This is interesting. Not being a UK-ite I claim no extensive knowledge of the situation. Seems Corbyn was bludgeoned by Labour colleagues into changing his stance from Brexite to Remainian. Or perhaps he was simply nudged, since it doesn’t seem to take much to get him to abandon his principles.*

I only clicked on Marrs programme briefly They were discussing the subject of the leaflet in the paper review.
The aim is to get young people signed up because they realise older people like me will vote out.We have long memories.

My son has signed up for the first time in years to vote out. Not all young people are keen on the EU .Christine Legarde said house prices will fall. Most young people should think that’s a good thing.
A break in mass immigration, less demand and a fall in house prices and higher wages .Whats not to like for the young.

I watched the AM show this morning and feel I have just been watching a poor episode of The One Show or even a Blue Peter-type children’s newsround! It gets worse every week.
Julia Whatshername was good on the papers; the other 2 were dire. Andrea Leadsom spoke some sense and Mark I-know-it-all Carney desperately tried to justify his appalling intervention which was decidedly political, no matter what he said.

Absolutely shocking interview on Marr with Mark Carney regarding Brexit. Marr is asking leading questions that give Carney an opportunity to spread his message of doom, and Marr isn’t subjecting him to any journalistic rigour at all.
Carney should STFU. According to him interest rates should have gone up by now. It shows what he knows.

There’s been a rather typical response from the Beeb regarding an article Boris Johnson has penned for today’s Telegraph. Boris, being a classical historian, gave a very long range view of what has happened in Europe back to the times of the Roman Empire. And he happened to mention that both Napoleon and Hitler had tried, unsuccessfully, to create a one state Europe. At no point in the piece did he write that the EU is like Hitler.
It’s absolutely clear what he means but of of course those desperate and irritating Remainiacs like Yvette Cooper have to stick their oar in and fake outrage. I’m not at all surprised at Cooper and co manufacturing offence, I mean, what else does she do? What is sinister though is that the BBC run with the headline, “Boris likens EU to Hitler.”
It’s nonsense! They know it, we know it and that appalling creature Yvette Cooper knows it.

Boris is only using history to give us the arc of history that we are currently on.

Over 1m Indian soldiers served in WW1. If it is really necessary to make an ‘ethnic’ point, some reference to this would at least make some sense.
If I recall correctly, Maria, many Commonwealth countries had soldiers, sailors & airmen of a variety of skin colouration and variety of religion or none who, seeing the seat of the Head of the Commonwealth in a dire situation and the rest of Europe in even worse trouble, quickly volunteered to lend the UK their help. India was no exception, in WW1 or WW2: they were quick to help, despite problems of their own at home as portrayed recently on the Beeb R4.
Three cheers for the Commonwealth countries, I say.
Even some American cousins didn’t believe the Washington fluffing & wuffling at the start of WW2 and found ways to join up. I think one of the heroes of the first part of the Battle of Britain was a US pilot, who at some personal risk for breaking a law or two, nipped over into Canada and came to Britain to fly fighters out of Biggin Hill.

This is the standard method used in ‘the performing arts’ to further reduce the effective rate of tax suffered.I am familiar with that of which I speak-I have been a Chartered Accountant for over 30 years.

BBC very excited that Nelson Mandela was apparently arrested following a tip-off by the CIA (no, he hasn’t come back to life. This took place in 1962). The article helpfully points out that “Mr Mandela served 27 years in jail for resisting white minority rule before being released in 1990.” Well, not quite. It wasn’t the act of resisting white minority rule that got him in trouble, it was the way he went about it. Specifically, and as a member of the South African Communist Party, he had setup the armed wing of the ANC – Umkhonto we Sizwe, or Spear of the Nation – the previous year. This engaged in armed struggle and Mandela commissioned several acts of terrorism and sabotage. He was convicted on conspiracy to overthrow the state. The BBC revisionists would rather you imagine him as a more peaceful, Gandhi-like character.
I can’t see any reference to this on the BBC Birmingham and Black Country News pages.

A Traitor In Our Midst
For personal family reasons I have recently taken a closer than normal interest in the history of the Battle of El Alamein. As a result I last night watched two programmes, both freely available online from various sources, the first one presented by Richard Holmes dating from 2001, titled “History of WWII Battlefields – El Alamein” which seems to me to stick to the military facts concerning the prequel to, and then the prolonged and bloody battle, including interviews with participants, and it also explains the prologue to the actual battle and why it was decided that this battle simply had to be won. It was originally broadcast by the BBC.
I then clicked on to “Churchill’s Desert War – The Road to El Alamein”, presented by Jonathon Dimbleby some 10 years after Richard Holmes programme. What a difference a decade makes: for a start the *whole* programme from beginning to end is Dimbleby, Dimbleby and *more* Dimbleby, including Dimbleby playing croquet just to show how the hoi-polloi carried on in those far off days.
At the beginning, Dimbleby tells us:
“This is the story of how the men who fought and died here in the desert were players in a high drama which was scripted in the war capitals of London, Rome, Washington and Berlin.”
So, it was no longer a true battle against evil as most participants (including most volunteers and conscripts) on the allied side saw it, and also as I remember it being told to me by many participants over many years.
Oh no, Mr. Dimbleby, it was a “high drama” scripted by Churchill and his cronies and thousands of soldiers died because of those scripts written in “London … [did anyone else notice that London and Washington preceeded Berlin as “war capitals”, though Rome seems to have been thrown into second place as a sop?] Do these Islington PC luvvies not think we see right through their revisionism?
I really cannot be bothered to go on with this PC adapted version of the horrendous battle against the Afrika Korps, a battle that really did affect the outcome of WWII. I do just wonder how a Dimbleby can take the Danegeld of the BBC and lie about what was going on, especially after his own father’s famous and illustrious history as a superlative BBC war reporter.
Do Dimblebys spin in graves? – especially if they were present at the relief of the German Concentration Camp of Bergen-Belsen – yet hear their offspring preaching about Churchill’s “high dramas”?
Now in my 70s I find I utterly detest these dynasties of broadcasters’ families, politicians’ families and all the other “meeja” offspring plus left-wing luvvies who insist on telling us how we must think. Steve Coogan et al … go and do one …
And worst of all, whilst I just think about it: – WHY SHOULD THE PROPOSED RULE ABOUT BBC WAGES ONLY DISCLOSE WHO EARNS OVER £450,000 per annum? Eh?

Obviously to get the final you have to be more than just talented. The problem the BBC has created for itself is in constant rigging of contests to favour ethnics, so that when does come along who does deserve to win, that win is tainted by suspicions of the BBCs PC meddling hands being involved.
All three finalists gave wonderful performances. But I have to disagree with you Maria, I thought it was an astounding interpretation of the Shostakovich for one so young – really moving, in fact. Dobrinka Tabakova’s speech at the end was very pertinent with regard to the sea of mediocrity that is the modern world. I was also glad that Jackie Campbell received a prize.
I criticise the BBC a lot, but on those very rare occasions when they do produce something outstanding it should be acknowledged. However, I would echo everything that Thoughtful has said. The BBC’c commitment to “diversity” has now tainted every successful black person with suspicion.
The BBC’s prejudices have an impact on everyone involved – I have sympathy for other finalists whose chances of winning might be reduced, and perhaps the judge in the unenviable position of preferring the “wrong” candidate.
These days many orchestras audition blind for very good reasons. Wouldn’t make very good TV though.
Just to keep things in perspective, in 2014 Benjamin Goldscheider became principal horn of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and was awarded the John Fletcher Brass Award. He has already worked as a freelance musician for the Philarmonia Orchestra and does session work. Next year he will be performing the Richard Strauss Horn Concerto No. 2 with the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra.

I was channel hopping and caught the piano playing at the end on Young Musician 2016 which I thought was superb. Then they got to the announcement of the winner. I haven’t watched previously but as soon as I saw the three finalists I somehow knew who was going to win. Now this is blatantly unfair on the young man as he could very well have deserved his win but due to the BBC’s record there is always the perception that he only got it due to his ethnicity. I too could tell the winner but what appalls me is that the whole competition is relegated to channel 4 and hardly publicised, almost like they don’t want to publicise exceptional talent in the youth.
I believe this to be because most entrants are middle class well educated children from stable families .The eventual winner is from a clearly dedicated and musical family and doesnt fit the rap gang culture view so beloved of the BEEB .And it proves you can make it whatever your ethnic background .
I think all of the finalists were very talented but clearly have supportive families and there was no deprived background narrative for the BEEB to follow.These kids were very hard workers .

Do you recall the controversy several years ago when the Royal Opera House offered a number of free tickets (for a ballet, I think) to a school in the East End? The teachers tried to suppress the fact until parents somehow found out and insisted on the tickets being made available.

Sure, there may be mixed motives at the BBC and it is very difficult to listen with Bias Antennae twitching furiously. However, they are adding to their ‘inform & educate’ portfolio with this. The thing I find interesting is the little bits of information that creep in ‘between the lines’, in interviews with refugees and migrants. The comments of ‘returnees’ is interesting.
Then there are the wonderful incongruities. The BBC in ‘normal mode’ these days would be anti-McDonalds, anti-obesity, anti-Primark, anti-‘sweatshop’ mode but no hysteria occurs when we are told that a VietNamese refugee returns to VietNam with the national franchise for an American restaurant chain in his pocket.
As I type, Lord Desai is saying some of all the wrong things for the recent standardised BBC approach to the migration problem.

As a parent of twins I was excited to receive a tweet from TAMBA ( the twins and Multiple Births Association, and a fine organisation it is too ) advising the the BBC was casting for some identical twins for a forthcoming CBeebies program to help show the world from a twin’s perspective. All well and good. My twins are not identical so wouldn’t be considered by I was astonished to read the following at the end of the casting note:

It is jaw dropping listening to the avoidance of the BBC on the issue of refugees / economic migrants.
Of course they do not refer to economic migrants, only refugees, yet even then they just cannot bring themselves to mention the truth that the vast majority of refugees are running away from Islam.

As the half-truths and downright lies flowed from his lips, la Kearney failed to ask a single difficult question, allowing the highly paid propagandist to praise Merkel and ‘surrounding nations’, damn Europe (its failing is due to the lack of central government control in the EU, apparently – I bet that earned him a few approving nods in the control room!) and on and on and on, sadly on. Whatever the functionary said, Kearney simply plugged on with the next leading question guaranteed to be met with a response that could have been scripted at a Guardian editorial meeting.
And this has been the tone of the entire day’s output from R4 so far – synchronised sobbing, a complete absence of journalistic rigour, an insult to the listeners’ intelligence and yet another reason why the corrupt, nakedly propagandising BBC must go. It is a farce.

When you accuse the UK of ‘not doing enough’, Mr High Commissioner, you really need to make sure the UN has covered itself in glory, not just in Syria, but the rest of the Near & Middle East. One of the few things (only thing?) to the UN’s credit was its investigations into Assad’s supposed use of chemical weapons and getting him to surrender the stocks of possible components that could be used for chemical weapons in the future. If I recall correctly, the US President had to lean heavily on the UN just to get that done, Mr High Commissioner.

I watched episode 1, thinking it might be good after the NIght Manager.

So many questions left unanswered. Who was the fake girlfriend of Dan ? Why did Nick not use the secret recording up his plaster cast ? Umpteen years married with adult kids, and Nick only gave his handler TWO bits of useful information. Was his wife’s epilepsy cured ? I personally could have slapped the whole cast – especially those ‘kids’ who wanted to know “why isn’t Daddy here?’ all the time, oh give me strength. The only question answered was the reason why so few awards are given to non-whites – rubbish acting.
