Mid-Week Open Thread

Sarah Brett on 5Live talking about the NHS (31 mins)…her personal experience:

‘I know that it is incredibly frustrating when a family member is in hospital, particularly over a weekend when you think nothing is being done until Monday morning starts again…it happened to me very recently…’

Better have a 7 day service then….let’s talk about it…..or we could talk about BBC bias….floor’s yours….

“Australian amateur rugby union player and scientist Michael Quinn has pleaded guilty to travelling to the US to have sexual conduct with a child.
Quinn, 33 and a player with the Melbourne Chargers believed he had made contact with child traffickers in LA who would give him access to a six-year-old boy.”

“US officials said his rugby team had had no knowledge of his activities.”

    A rugby player huh?

And what kind of rugby team does he play for?

” The Melbourne Chargers are Melbourne’s first #gay #rugby union team” (from their Twitter)

Why do the BBC choose to omit part of the story?

Why is our ‘national broadcaster’ going out of its way to find stories that denigrate out country post EU vote. Here’s a good example from London News yesterday evening about The City and Frankfurt. It’s project fear 2.

“nowhere near as big as London at the moment” (07m:40s)
or is it project sour grapes? I am all in favour of freedom of the press within reasonable limits but someone needs have a word in someone else s ear and put a muzzle on the rabid dog the bbc has become.

Very true, the whole tone of BBC reporting about Brexit is to generate uncertainty and to ask what’s best for our European partners and how best we access the single market, and then there’s the “confusion” over “what model we want to follow”, Norway, Canada, Albania are cited.

Mays conversations with Merkel seem to have been reported in these terms….with the line ” oh how can Britain negotiate when we don’t know what we want?” predominant.

Can I help? What I think many of us want is broadly this…..

Not to be in the EU.

Not to have European courts overseeing our legal system.

Not to have open door immigration from any part of the world….but to have a points based system for English speaking people who have sponsoring employers.

Trading with European countries without political strings attached.

A new UK model relationship with the EU that takes account of the U.K.s unique position as one of Europes largest economies and its historic role as the last non totalitarian line of resistance to Nazi domination of the continent.

I think that covers most of it.

Brexit should be viewed by the BBC like the gay marriage legislation…..which they delighted in telling us was not a question of whether but of how to implement it….. and how best to steamroller the opposition into submission. What’s different is that Brexit has a popular mandate arising from a very specific referendum question.

There’s a case to be made for joining with Norway, Switzerland and Iceland to form a free trade area and offer the eu a free trade deal, without free movement being part of it.
As they, the eu, benefit from trading with us to the tune of £60-£80 billion yearly, should we charge them a fee to continue trading with us. We could always go somewhere else.

Listen to Nick Robinson interviewing Pascal Lamy who is the former director-general of the World Trade Organisation on Today at 0810. it`s on the iplayer.

He makes it as clear as he can that he thinks that for the EU “free movement of people” (i.e. open door immigration to the UK for EU member state passport holders) is a non negotiable condition of access to the market, even though the “Brexit vote tells us that the Brits don`t want free movement”.

In a nutshell, according to Lamy, this is an ideological position. For the EU “negotiators” supra national interests outweigh the national interest of the UK (and other trading nations) on this issue. The imperialist EU government sees “free movement” as a condition of trade.

I hope our leaders are tough enough, they`re going to need to be to get the EU empire off our backs.

The EU is not really a trading bloc, it is an evolving political and economic union, hence the insistence on free movement of people. No other trading bloc makes a fetish of this, because they are not trying to set up a new state, just a trading arrangement.

We need access to the Single Market, just as they need access to our domestic market. But we do not want to be part of their political and economic union, of which the Single Market is an important part. The price of “access” cannot be unrestricted free movement of people. That is precisely what the British people voted to reject.

The lefties say that we are going to have an economic disaster if we leave, so surely, we may just as well get it all over with and re-calibrate our economy minus all the EU bells, whistles, and overregulation

To me it is obvious that the the EU will do their level best to shaft us anyway, because if not it sends the “wrong” message to other countries who may be having doubts about membership.

The longer we stay in the longer we will get tied up in the gordian knot of EU politics. Bear in mind we will be dealing with arch bureaucrats who have turned the art of bullshit into a honed science. Leaving it much more likely we will end up with a Euro fudge which only suits the likes of Claude (make mine an absinthe) Junker.

I am afraid May makes the right noises but seems to possess all the urgency of a slug on diazopan.

I know I am being thick on this but the longer this goes on – the more the alarm bells are ringing. All this Cameronesque bollocks about getting the “best deal for Britain” is just that bollocks!

It seems to me that all this “negotiation” just a further opportunity to fudge what is essentially a black or white decision. But I guess that maybe that is what it is all about.

I have come to the conclusion that I don’t really want an “Australian style points based immigration programme”. I would rather that, for period of some years, we had no immigration at all. I would accept a work permit system, whereby foreign workers could be employed as necessary, if they really were needed, and then return to their own countries. No bringing families though, I don’t want schools where thirty languages are spoken and hospitals treating their grandparents.

Britain is not a new frontier. It is a mature, settled society in an ancient land, and it is densely populated as it is. Land, water and other natural resources are not infinite. What do we “Need” immigrants for really? Is it to add a few points to GDP, a totally arbitrary measure of the value of goods and services produced by an economy, with no reference to the social and environmental costs?

I can see that countries which want to expand into vast undeveloped areas might need the population boost given by immigration. Britain is not such a country. We don’t need immigration on any appreciable measure.

          Great post RiC.

All this cr@p about how we need immigrants because of our falling birth rate: Japan has a lower birth rate than we do but their solution is not (and never will be) to import millions of foreigners to make up the difference.

They are a country populated by an islander race clever enough to seek and find solutions through new technology, and other methods, to solve the demographic problems their country faces.

We are also a clever, island race which should seek to emulate the Japanese in our approach to a population shortfall in our country; the use of immigration to solve it must become the very last resort.

A stunning display of arrogance and bias this morning from the buffoon James Naughtie, who, on R4’s Today, was interviewing a leading US Republican about Donald Trump. No one objects to robust questioning but Naughtie was simply insulting about the man who is, despite the best efforts of the global ‘elite’, very likely to be the next US President.

Naughtie’s pointless questions (in the sense that they could elicit no useful answers – eg ‘is Trump an idiot?’) might have been acceptable had even a fragment of that approach also been applied to ‘His Blackness’, Saint Obama, or either Bill or Hilary Clinton, all three of whom have been given the fawning powder puff treatment by a succession of the BBC’s editorialising clowns.

This sort of thing has to stop. Still, looking on the bright side, perhaps if Trump does win, maybe he will make sure it does. And not before time.

I heard this disgraceful ‘interview’ by Jim Naughtie this morning on the car radio. What struck me immediately was that the BBC interviewer cared not one single jot about politics, policies or even a sensible discussion about Donald Trump’s candidacy. It was one long rant, raising only the personal bile spouted by his critics (i.e. his political opponents – including Jim Naughtie himself, whose personal views came across as clear as day), without a hint of balance whatsoever. The Trump representative was clearly taken aback by the odious tone and arrogance spouted by the shameless Naughtie, and several times just had to laugh at the infantile delusions of our ‘so-called’ flagship News provider employee.

But , of course, broadcast at around 8:45 this morning, you can imagine the impression of Trump created by Naughtie, who I am sure is really childishly pleased with himself, thinking he’s just done a great interview. Job done, Jimbo.

It also struck me that we will never, in a million years, hear a similar vitriolic BBC ‘interview’ with a Hillary Clinton representive, pushing the idea that lots of people (and there are lots of people) who regard her behaviour, in and out of office, as arrogant, self-centred, criminal, cowardly, and completely out of touch with the real world.

The BBC – bias about so many things shines through its pores. and especially towards any politician with views anywhere to the right of Fidel Castro/Chairman Mao/Pol Pot.

It looks like they are going to be 3 for 3 to use American parlance.
I am not a particular admirer of Trump but it is worth the interest just to see the look on the bbc news presenters faces when they get it wrong yet again – that is a priceless commodity these days.

I heard the inept and hopelessly inadequate Sadiq Khan on the radio yesterday talking about the latest violent riots in London. If you didn’t know that this bloke was mayor of London you could easily think he was a rather irritating sixth form student. He mumbled something about these outrages as being “unacceptable” and assured us that he had “spoken to the commissioner.” Oh great! Well, that’s sorted then. He also told us that he’s flogging off Boris’s water cannons to fund entertainment for young people. Hmmm…

The BBC have been astonishingly reticent in informing us of the chanting from this mob, “black lives matter.” News seems to gradually filter out via the internet. It shouldn’t be like this. We should be able to trust our state broadcaster but we all know that we can’t!
Telling us that this was a “water fight” is just plain bloody deceitful. It makes it sound like a boisterous skirmish that got a little out of hand.
This was a mob of racists intent on violence. However, these aren’t the sort of racists the BBC are always so keen to highlight. Imagine a group of white “youths” behaving in similar fashion. The dear old Beeb would be all over the story and it would run for weeks. Blimey, I’m still having flashbacks about that black chap who got pushed off a train by a bunch of oiks. I’m sure we all remember it. It was on the news ad infinitum! Civil rights people were interviewed. We had comments from the great and the good and were told just what a tawdry bunch of bigots we working class whites are. I’m sure that this public self flagellation did us all the world of good and we all felt utterly despicable! Undoubtedly being shoved from a train was an unpleasant and frightening thing to happen to the poor fellow,. However, no policemen were stabbed, no innocent members of the public beaten up, robbed and taken away in an ambulance.
I know which “crime” I think is most newsworthy…

“”Although passenger numbers have been rising – up to 20.2 million – extreme weather, air traffic control strikes and terrorist attacks have all contributed to the drop of almost 8% in “revenue per seat”, a key measure watched closely by investors””‘

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36853577

So, the report mentions Terrorism among other factors as a cause apart from Brexit. But the BBC’s headline states that Brexit alone caused the slump. Selective biased reporting.

And I’d never visit a Med resort now, thanks to the Religion of Peace. The value of the pound has nothing to do with it.

No the “Post-Brexit sterling slump costs Easyjet £40m, says boss” is about the £ fall only
      However is it true ?
Cos last time I checked planes fly in both directions.
So whilst the £ reserves that Easy Jet have buys less oil, the €€s that the French, German and EU customers pay buys more oil than before.

The £ fell 10% so to have a £40m cost you must be talking a fig of £400m but that is not all sales but the difference between £ and € sales. So what Easyjet are claiming is that everyweek their £ ticket sales are £100m bigger than their € sales. “We fly more than 70 million passengers a year.” that’s 1.3m/week.

“It’s very hard to prosecute because you’re asking a child to go into court and testify against their parents,” FGM campaigner Hibo Wadere explains.

Surely that can’t be right? It doesn’t matter who actually did the FGM it’s the parents who are responsible for their child. It’s not like the girl went to school and came back mutilated. The whole thing is organised by the parents and carried out at a time of their choosing. The physical evidence alone should be enough to prosecute the parents.

Soon many more, Tabs. The NHS are busily setting up clinics all around the country to deal with FGM. As a home grown problem, its good to see the good old NHS one step ahead of the game. What’s that you say? ‘Did I know that FGM is an import from mainly Africa so its not a home grown problem? Well blow me down: if that’s the case, how can we afford all these clinics dealing solely with medical problems created in Africa? Are the Africans paying for the clinics – ‘No you say’. So, let me get this right: the NHS are in deficit to the tune of 2.5 Billion and they are setting up a network of clinics to deal excursively with a medical problem that originated from Africa. Ah! that explains why I have to wait so long for my hip to be replaced. I’ll sleep more soundly tonight knowing that the NHS is managed well.

The problem is that the destitute of the world believe the more children they have, the greater their chance of survival. Given traditionally high infant mortality and the lack of any kind of support for the elderly, you can see how that drives the cycle.

The irony is that the more charity that is dispensed, the lower infant mortality becomes and the greater the population pressure.

These are questions which the BBC avoids confronting with any seriousness, preferring to indulge in mawkish sentimentality and socialist colonialism.

That’s what pisses me off, royally, about Greenpeace, The Green Party, and all the others!

The whole point of the EU project is to boost population levels in order to boost the economy. This is why economists are scratching their heads over the conundrum of how productivity levels are falling whilst the economy continues its upward trend – here in the UK anyway.

Of course, the idea that you can boost an economy by increasing its population is not some highly guarded secret when it comes to economics. But it seems to have become a highly guarded secret recently, something the BBC are complicit in!

Green Party member Caroline Lucas (SPIT!) joined the Remain campaign during the EU Referendum campaigning season. This is a woman who obviously turns a blind eye to local ecological disaster (UK air pollution and political green belt land grab to build more houses for more immigration swell) in the name of keeping the economy “healthy”.

Caroline Lucas is a hypocrite of the highest order and only joined the remain campaign because she gambled her side would win and promote her political presence.

She lost this round. But I bet she remains somewhere in power.

I don’t know if man made climate change is happening or not, but one thing I am damn sure of is that efforts to stop it will be meaningless as long as population continues to grow.
Greenies used to think this way before they were taken over by Social Justice Warriors.

On a serious note, this sort of thing makes my blood boil. It’s like the article I referred to on BBC1 news at ten the other night – a sort of how to do-it-yourself FGM. The BBC present these details as if they’re essential to know, important educational videos of how other cultures live – so we can get used to their barbaric, primitive practices before we ‘integrate’ them into our society. I don’t care, and I want them to keep them in their own countries.

On the other hand, we aren’t allowed to see Jimmy Saville on old recordings of TOTPs, or hear a Gary Glitter record on the radio.

Just found this on Guido’s site.

Members of a private Facebook group which organised £25 payments for people to vote for Corbyn used an unsubtle code to disguise what they were up to. Thousands of Corbynistas signed up to the secret “Gimme 25 page” yesterday, all asking for the exact same sum, £25, to pay their “internet data” and other necessities by the exact same deadline, 5pm. The fee to vote in the Labour leadership election was £25 and the deadline was, you guessed it, 5pm. Guido has spoken to one source who joined the group and submitted a request £25 to vote for Owen Smith. The administrators of the group did not approve his post. Labour successfully shut down one group doing similar but last night large numbers claimed to have successfully had their votes paid for via “Gimme 25”.

The tweets shown on his site are telling and it doesn’t need a degree in rocket science to work it out!

Where is the electoral commission in all of this – or have Momentum and Jezza banned them as well?
    It’s surely fraudulent?

And how are all these 180,000 going to vetted? ….or not!!!

I am no fan of Libor at all but any government of any party needs an appropriate opposition for the good of the country; Jezza and co are certainly not doing that. One almost…..almost…feels sorry for the sensible adult Labour politicians who have been abandoned.

She says, passenger numbers have actually increased but ‘extreme weather, air traffic control strikes and terrorist attacks have all contributed to the drop of almost 8% in “revenue per seat”, a key measure watched closely by investors.’

An “extraordinary number of external events” were to blame, Ms McCall said, “from Sharm el-Sheikh, Paris, Brussels and most recently, Nice and Turkey”.

I have noted that the Labour ‘moderates’ and the BBC are outraged and a little scared of the low level of verbal abuse that they are suffering from their erstwhile leftist colleagues. The amount of physical violence and intimidation is small. They didn’t protest at all when Tories or UKIP were exposed to much greater levels of social media abuse and to physical threat in the past. Nigel Farage has been on the receiving end of death threats for years. Where were the BBC then? Did we ever hear from them about how shocked they were that British politics was descending into the gutter? Just after the Tory part conference that prize idiot Zoe Williams of the Guardian and self appointed member of the , as she put it, Intellectual Left, said on the BBC , with no censure, that she thought it was OK for protesters outside the conference to spit at the delegates! It isn’t a big step to think its OK to spit at folks you don’t agree with to actually threatening them with physical harm. No doubt this leftist view that its OK to abuse those you don’t agree with is, in part at least, the reason why some Remainers are so abusive to those of us who voted leave. In effect the left and the BBC are condoning, if not promoting, the introduction of violence into British politics. No one should condone verbal or physical abuse. The ‘moderate’ left and the BBC are now finding out what it is like to be on the receiving end and , to quote a BBC phrase from the days when the BBC did represent the views of British people , ‘They don’t like it up em do they’.

Someone really needs to complain about that series on the RNLI on BBC1. Last night there was not a dark face or a headscarf to be seen…everybody hideously white…they even had a lifeboatman revealing that he recites the Lord’s Prayer before he zips up the suicides under Beachy Head…plus a captain scattering ashes at sea while reciting from the Book of Common Prayer.

I was horrified! The only sign of vibrant enrichment was a Pole who crashed his speedboat and a yacht crew from Europe whose engine conked out. Clearly anti-EU bias!

Why is that I wonder ? Are Asians afraid of water (apart from migrating) ? Why don’t blacks apply to join the RNLI ? These are good points to raise when the argument of multi/c raises its head. The same with mountain rescue teams. E/minorities do tend to cherry pick the ‘bits of British life’ they want to be involved in, and clearly not those where a bit of danger is involved; ain’t daft are they.

Is it a ‘man’? – no
    Is it a truck’?- no
Has Spot left his bone under the stairs? – no
Are the two suspects of Middle-Eastern appearance? – yes, so at least we are progressing.
Did they attempt to kidnap a British serviceman? – yes
Is it another Lee Rigby scenario? no, the police are treating just it as an ‘abduction attempt’
Are we being lied to by an eggshell-fearing police force and a pro-muslim media – yes, now you’re getting the picture.

Frank “don’t shoot, I’m a muslim” Gardner on Five Dead speculated that the two Pakistani looking men, armed with a knife, who tried to bundle an RAF serviceman out jogging into their vehicle, might only have been after his bank card. Yes, it could have been a botched ATM robbery, out in the middle of Norfolk, just outside an RAF base.

We should not jump to conclusions Frank, you are so right. After all, many joggers carry their wallets don’t they, and if you are thinking of mugging someone, a young fit serviceman is the ideal victim. It may well be that the death of Lee Rigby was just a “crash for cash” scam that went terribly wrong. It is not for us to say.

The global elites also chose not to fight Islamism, because Muslims vote globally for the global elite. Muslims in Europe also offer a big “carrot” to the global elite: they vote collectively.”

The Brexit vote was not supposed to happen. I assume Cameron assured the elites that he had it under control. No doubt he will not be well rewarded for that.
And now they have Trump to contend with. Sopel tonight with that sneering arrogance these people have assured us that Trump is going nowhere and even if he is it is the poor dumb redneck trash that will vote for him.

But disturbingly, we’re shown a BBC interview with this young, pouty woman posing by a swimming pool a month before her death.

It appears that the BBC have helped to generate the publicity leading to the killing of a young woman for “shaming her family”.

Two things strike me….the BBC appears to endorse the sexual objectification of this young woman as a desirable phenomenon. And they participated in promoting the videos that led to her being murdered….Hello…..anyone at W1A thinking at all?

Next story, Fiona Bruce simpering about the first Nigerian musical to feature on the West End stage…..more gyrating dark flesh. More daring taboo busting.

So let’s get this straight…..BBC values tell us that a white female in a bikini that’s “beach body ready” causes outrage whilst brown and black women’s bodies being flaunted transgressively is o.k……..Isn’t there a word for that?

Good post Embolden. I do wish though, that the media stop using the term ‘honour killing’, this is purely an Islamic term, and to continue to use it only gives the action more credence. Its murder plain and simple, and I don’t care whether Islamic men are of a peaceful orientation or killing machines, they all subscribe to their little girls being maimed, disfigured and put through great pain at a young age. These men have a savage mentality with no emotion except anger, which means they can kill their own flesh and blood without hesitation. All of you on here with little girls I’m sure would stick pins in your eyes before letting your child be mutilated, and yet little is done about it in this ‘civilised’ country. Personally I would like to see those guilty Islamic men castrated, then they would know what pain in that area was all about !!! (rant over)

However, even if Trump doesn’t win, politics will have been as transformed in America as it has been here by our referendum. The majority of white Americans have had enough of globalization and all that brings with it. Go Trump!

          Good post Al.

What I heard this morning when I heard Trump discussed on the BBC is a kind of fear and disbelief that politics has become about disagreement again, open division, democratic choice, Right v left, the freedom of self determination for nation states v neo Imperialism imposed by diktat, with the collaboration of “partners” at the national level.

For several decades now..in the UK…probably since the Major years….in The US perhaps since NAFTA? (both in the early 1990s) world politics has been dominated by notions of stability vs change (change actually meaning more of the same)…business allowed to flourish only on condition that lip service is paid to red tape and a social democratic (leftist) dependency on supra national, unelected bureaucracies.

An unelected “elite” pushing one size fits all global rules on immigration, multicuturalism, environmentalism, far left identity and social policies, welfarism and dependency….top down, global government…that leftists and liberals can rely on to be sympathetic to their agendas without having to go to the trouble of winning elections.

It is this that is being rejected across Europe and the US….the anti democratic governance of globalised liberalism and thinly veiled leftism that is being rejected. no wonder its cosy proponents are so horrified.

BBC Business on the News Channel – why the blue studio, it’s just the usual unthinking lefty bias?

Certainly not much pro-private business about the show – among lead stories this morning, as so often, they focus attention on ‘golden handshakes for tech bosses – should they be stopped, tell us what you think?’

Perhaps the two BBC presenters in their blue dresses represent the US Democrat party?

There’s a quick swipe at the boss of Fox News – departing under the cloud of alleged sexual harassment and with a payoff – never let it be said the BBC don’t enjoy a kick at a market and ideological rival.

Of course at the very top of BBC priorities is the spreading of fear and uncertainty about what they like to call ‘Brexit’ – you know, it’s what others might term ‘home rule for Britain’.

Christine Lagarde of the IMF has expressed irritation and a certain pique – oh la la, sacré bleu, zoot alors, OR oh dear, how sad, never mind.

As so often the expert guests to BBC studios disappoint the gallery as they have very little concrete bad economic news to impart and with which the BBC can run. And yet still the BBC can’t seem to change the broken record.

On a lighter note – as if the show were not lightweight enough we learn there’s a lot of Pokemon Go going at the BBC workplace, although of course the presenters are not owning up to playing it themselves, yet.

Not sure if this will be BBC bias, yet, but…..
Living in the South West, it is without doubt a lovely place to live, when it isn’t raining…a bit like Wales. Yesterday, I had an interesting chat with an estate agent here on Dartmoor, who has told me things are very busy since the BREXIT vote. It turns out that many of the enquiries, in fact 90% of contacts, are now Ex-pats wanting to come back to the U.K. for fear of losing their status when the U.K. finally leaves the E.U. in about 2 years time. I wonder if this is a very short term knee jerk response or a long term trend? Whatever, it looks like the “higher end” property market may well be taking off as Ex-pats come home.
I wonder how the BBC will spin this one, not yet I guess, in the future?

Whilst researching the affects of Ozone and “Climate Change”, I have unearthed several nuggets of information on “Climate Change” or rather “Global Warming” that further research shows that the BBC didn’t announce it or simply that I couldn’t find it. Once such nugget came from the British Antarctic Survey team who frequent the Antarctic quite often. They have stated that their records show the Antarctic is cooling rather than warming, and has been doing so for the last 20 years. This is empirical data and not computer modelled data.
    Oops.

BBC Brrekkie just now had 3 remainers and 3 leavers on discussing the 4 week anniversary of Brexit(still not happy). All were introduced as regular folk but one of the remainers a black guy, lance idiabor moses kept mentioning the rise in racism. Well a quick Google told me hes connected to the limp dicks

There was also a scouser remainer who worked in the NHS who seemed to be on a political rant. Didn’t catch his name but also didn’t fit the regular dude from the street mantra

    Why no mention i wonder.

I’ve noticed our BBC employee trolls are not so frequent……………perhaps it’s because they along with their employer have been on the wrong side of history for :

    1. Scottish Independence Referendum
    2. Conservative General Election Victory.
    3. Brexit.

With the coming of Trump, Le Pen and Wilders, can I ask these low level drones how they feel about being wrong on everything despite their media dominance and fellow travelers at C4, ITV and Sky?
Would they consider leaving the country now it is now doomed economically and full of racists?

Whilst I have my doubts that BBC newsreader Sima Kotecha is a Muslim as such a name would suggest an Indian (Gujurati) name, but the views she holds would certainly suggest she is an Islamophile.

So in a similar vain as Channel 4 last Friday, we have her presenting last nights BBC1 8pm news bulletin, very short only three stories 1) Attempted RAF abduction 2) Nice 3) Vitamin D deficiency, maybe the irony is obviously lost on the BBC, but more likely they like to rub their viewers noses in endless diversity, just to rub even more salt into the wounds, the following local news headlines was presented by similar.
