Nick Robinson has allegedly been sidelined by the BBC for this election in favour of younger presenters…he’s not happy…

Veteran star Nick Robinson, 53, at war with BBC bosses as he’s left off General Election team in favour of young female stars

VETERAN presenter Nick Robinson is at war with BBC bosses after being left out of the election team.

Young stars Steph McGovern, 34, and Tina Daheley, 36, have key presenting roles instead.

Former political editor Nick, 53, hosts Radio 4’s Today show and has been part of the BBC’s election coverage since 2001.

He has demanded a meeting with Jonathan Munro, the head of newsgathering, and James Harding, the director of news and current affairs.

A source said: “Nick is really unhappy and downright confused. He wasn’t told in advance and only discovered when the line-up was announced earlier this week.

“He fired off a furious email to Jonathan to voice his disappointment. Nick also has serious questions about his future at the BBC.

“It’s very likely bosses wanted to try out younger talent and make their election line-up more diverse.

“It’s bonkers. Nick is the best political voice we have.” [lol]

Maybe the bosses just thought Nick was not firing on all cylinders these days as we’ve pointed out on these pages many a time…and he seems just a little bit biased on many occasions….no doubt his recent rambling defence of the BBC didn’t help as it stirred up even more controversy.  Maybe Kuenssberg should be given a rest as well….certainly stopped from giving us her ‘informed’ opinion.  The facts will do nicely, I can make up my own mind about how to interpret them thanks.

Can’t say I’d miss him if he is sidelined…his interviews never seem to hit the spot and often appear more about point scoring than informing.

      Oh Dear!
      How Sad!
      Never Mind!

I love it when these slavish BBC products just get discarded like a used condom into the toilet bowl of history along with all the other detritus, in favour of a newer, more sensitive and more arousing replacements.

I can just imagine poor “Ol Nicks” tears – “After all that I did for them and they repaid me like this!” – Maybe Nick you should treat yourself to a little cry wank! -poor boy!
      Ha ha ha!

Just goes to prove – Even If you do sell your soul to the devil dont expect any loyalty back.

    “Young star Steph McGovern, 34”

Ha ha ha – only at the BBC can a bloke called Steve dress up as a woman, talk with a gritty northern accent, call himself Steph and then be described as a star.

Why does the phrase, “If you have been offended by, etc….” seem to imply that the problem with any offence is with the offended and not the offender?

Always a silver lining though. Norman Smith’s not on the list either.

Stephanie McGovern- talent? What a useless bunch of dimwits the BBC are. As for Comrade Nick- his political biases soon became clear when he joined Today. I’d be quite happy to see him disappear without trace.

Just listening to Nick’s new Politics programme on R4 and it’s not very good. And the usual in-house bias against the Tories is plain.

At 53 though Nick is hardly a veteran. And the replacements will be far far worse as we have seen with Paxman leaving Newsnight to be replaced by weird Evan, creepy Emily and the shouty LBC guy.

BBC loyalty in action. First Jon Holmes and Mitch Benn now Nick Robinson – I can hardly contain my indifference.

With luck they’ll use Steph McGovern’s Irish dancing skills to liven up Vine’s visuals as the results come in, with a quick kick to his groin as he has to announce that the Tories have won. That I’d watch.

Poor Nick. In a male dominated media he did not have big tits and never flashed his legs BBC style.Well done Steph.

      Eddy,

      That’s ageist, windist and wealthist.

He is pale, male and stale, so won’t have much longer at the oh-so-diverse BBBC.

Possibly the £12 million the brothers shared from dad’s local newspaper empire wasn’t enough. Never been quite sure how owning a newspaper chain and being the BBC’s top man were reconciled, but they obviously found a way round it.

I see that those following this web site have been going about things in the wrong way.

I trust the picture at the head of the item actually is of JC supporters. Their protests obviously seem to chime with BBC management better than ours!

Narh! Not even near! Poor Nick puts the younger voters off by his bald head and age!

Its happening all over the BBC! “young is best” Go check out the other BBC presenters; most are only in their 20s if not younger! Even better if your gay and hate the tories!
