MID WEEK OPEN THREAD….

On the day the BBC reveals that 100 of its employees earn more than the PM, here is a new OPEN thread. To me, the scandal is not the red herring of ‘pay gap” but rather one of the annual extortion of £3.5bn from anyone who owns a TV. A stalinist construction in 2017. Thoughts?

I’m not sure what I think about the BBC salaries. Some of the stars may on paper do the same job but actually each individual has their own popularity level with the public. The broadcaster has to take this factor into consideration and will therefore have to negotiate a unique remuneration package with every star based on their popular appeal and ability to pull in the viewers. I don’t think the salaries are particularly surprising apart from Fiona Bruce’s. I regard her as a supreme professional and a credit to the BBC. My initial reaction when I learned she was only being paid £350,000 was that she was being very badly treated. Then I compared her salary with mine and I came to my senses.

It is impossible to comment without justifiable anger on this travesty of the BBC wages. This bunch of semi literate troughers takes money from us via threats of prison.
When they have to come clean as to their wages they try to obscure the matter by whining on about diversity ,gender -you know the usual.
I have a suggestion. Cut the wages by 75% and wait and see just how desirable these people really are.
Better still sack the lot and put them on average wages or no job. . I bet most of them will still stay so unemployable are they anywhere else.

Zero hour contracts for all at the BBC for a year – they so loved their jobs, they were willing to do it for (near) free!
Gary “£2million of enforced money” Lineker paid at the minimum wage that he supports under Labour.
Tony “£450K of enforced money” Hall can try a zero hour contract – minus expenses and free gifts to visit shows and dinners.

The BBC can run like a true gig economy – a new Uber company!

    Sadiq Khan says a Trump state visit to UK may not be ‘appropriate’ given how much British people disagree with him (1.8 million in petition of 46.5 million electorate / 3% of Electorate) {independent.co.uk jul2017}

“State visits are different from a normal visit and at a time when the President of the USA has policies that many in our country disagree with (3% of the electorate, online poll), I am not sure it is appropriate for our government to roll out the red carpet,” he (Sadiq Khan) told CNN.

See the use of language here ‘many in our country disagree’, why not mention the value of 3% of electorate, from an online petition? Because it turns the ‘Many’ into the ‘Few’.

When Sadiq Khan speaks the response should always be, in no particular order …

#LondonIsOpen … you mean open to everyone, except the President of the largest economy in the World.
Halal Food Production … positive discrimination for Muslims?
Chicken Cottage … more for the Islamic Companies (2012) or less for citizens of London (2015)?
Funds … London had £37 million in reserves to spend on protecting the citizens of London
Religious dilemma …. gambling and drink under Islam (abomination) verses looking after a modern city

When Sadiq Khan answers the above to the public, then he might be ready to look after a modern civilised city … depending on his answers.

People today are like guards in old movies – if you want to distract them, you just shout ‘look up there!’ and you can make your getaway. All the Beeb needs to do is to shout ‘Gender pay gap!’ ‘Racism!’ ‘Austerity!’ and people will immediately be distracted from the real issue, while the BBC gets away scot-free.

Imagine if Gary Lineker has been paid this generous amount of £2million, extracted as the TV License-Tax by court orders at times, for 22 years?

    Gary Lineker // Worked at BBC 1995 – 2017 // 22 years @ £2million = £44million (complete guess)

    – did Gary Lineker and friends have a pay increases every year as the TV license went up?
    – will the employees of BBC with wages over £100K say how long they have been on these wages?
    – will the UK media say why it’s never reported or chased these these facts before?
    – will UK MPs step forward and declare how they were paid for BBC TV shows whilst being paid to be an MP as well (double pay!)

BBC slip in Islam discussion R4 8pm : MM is about Faith Schools
    & Gender segregation
The legal battle between Ofsted and the Al-Hijrah Islamic state school in Birmingham has reached the Court of Appeal
Ofsted’s lawyers argue that it is “a kind of apartheid”, leaving girls “unprepared for life in modern Britain”.
The Muslim school maintains that gender segregation is one of its defining characteristics
The case is based on the Equality Act, which means the implications of the ruling will be far-reaching and will apply to all schools, not just state schools.
Should gender segregation be allowed in co-educational faith schools?

Our goal is to achieve excellence in education and skills for learners of all ages, and in the care of children and young people.
We report directly to Parliament and we are independent and impartial.”

Yet these people from alien cultures are challenging them.

“Yet these people from alien cultures are challenging them.”

You obviously don’t know how Politically Correct right on trendy leftie OFSTED are:

“Town and Country Kiddies Nursery in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire has just been stripped of its Ofsted “outstanding” status. It has been downgraded to “good” on the basis of it not providing enough opportunities for babies and toddlers to “to learn about people who are different to themselves.” This was evidenced, in part, by the inspectors deciding that there were insufficient black and Asian faces on the walls of the nursery.”

Ofsted tells inspectors that they must evaluate the extent to which “equality of opportunity and recognition of diversity are promoted through teaching and learning.”

Nurseries must be judged on the extent to which they “actively promote equality and diversity”

Distinctions in terms of educational quality disappear because promoting ‘ethnic diversity’ trumps all.

One Jewish school formally complained to Ofsted after girls aged just nine were humiliated by inspectors who interrogated them about how babies are made, and whether they knew any gay people.

The targeting of Christian and Jewish Schools was confirmed yesterday by Rabbi Nessanel Lieberman, a registered schools inspector, who told a meeting of primary teachers that the education watchdog had “an agenda to knock down our schools”

I would suggest that the Muslims have ample evidence to believe that OFSTED is absolutely on their side and it’s quite a surprise they actually carried this through to court.

Eddie Mair surprisingly hacked off with James Purnell. Does a very good impression of a newshound on the student paper.
You could almost imagine that Eddie himself was not one of the grasping show hounds, guilty of bagging all the gravy.
      What a performance.
Great entertainment, news as showbiz and ironic comedy. Have a listen.
Joan Bakewell probably being revived with smelling salts even as we speak.
Now HERS was the very reprise of Dame Edith Sitwell, as a full doggie bag was offered instead of the petit fours!
      What a performance.
      Enjoy it!

To sum up the ‘Today’ presenters’ salaries; John Humphries is at the top of the tree and his salary is gynormously massive; Nick Robinson next, whose salary is enormous, third spot goes to Mishal Hussein (why?) whose salary is huge; fourth we have Justin Webb who must make do with a salary level only a mere 50kish above the Prime Minister’s.
Sarah Montague doesn’t even get 150k. Maybe she has to resort to food banks?

I am becoming increasingly suspicious of callers in to Five Live. ‘Liz’ from Enfield was just saying how we are so lucky to have the BBC and other countries are jealous; just throw a quid in a pot every couple of days and you have paid for it! Someone else texted in saying how outrageous it was that the salaries were published, expressing solidarity with the Beeb millionaires, which really is what most people are thinking.

Orwell was spot on calling it the Ministry of Truth. How disgusted they are having to be honest with us!

Unfortunately there will always be the thick sort of bloke in fuck-me trousers and a fag on who believes everything he’s told by the bbc.

They’re like the people who come and park next to you in an empty car-park, or bring their towels and plonk themselves nearby on an empty beach.

Sad, but loved by the bbbc, who couldn’t really give a toss as they’re paid by the tax-payer.

Its this sort of comment that makes my blood boil……………….

“But BBC Breakfast’s Dan Walker took to Twitter to say he earns the same as co-host Louise Minchin for the programme – it is his other BBC commitments in BBC Sport that take his total salary higher.”

For Christ’s sake, why ? surely one salary covers all the commitments for the BBC ? clearly not. Is that why Winkleman’s salary is so high because she does a few weeks stint on Strictly and another few weeks on a now defunct Gt British Sewing Bee ?

I am going to give you a good tip. No its not IRAN to win the World Cup , I have already bet them
them at 5000/1 a couple of years ago. They with Brazil are the only country that have now qualified.
They will reach the 1/4 finals at least, but you can’t get 5000/1 anymore.
NO I am going to tell you who will replace Gary Lineker when he either resigns as the BBC makes
him the fall guy over the wages fiasco. If he does not resign the positive discrimination and diversity
department will get him! The LADY who will succeed him believe me ticks all the right boxes AND
she does know her football, MINA RZOUKI. I reckon the BBC will pay her more than Gary Lineker !!
I reiterate that either Gaby Logan or Jermaine Janus will be favourites . Some think that Ebony Rainford
Brent will be in with a shout. But she will take over Jonathon Agnews’s job sooner or later , and anyway
cricket is her sport , even if it wouldn’t make any difference to the diversity department. If you see any
betting market on next Match of the Day presenter and 20/1 or better is offered for MINA, GET ON !!!

Chris – I think this same principle also applies to the BBC current in equal measure. Obviously creating and reporting fake news with “BBC approved fake journalists” must be a lot more profitable than reporting the truth with “real” journalists who can actually be bothered to research their story instead of towing the BBC/Labour approved party line.

I am afraid the BBC have become a joke to much of the population. Down here in Cornwall I even had a normally reticent farmer complaining to me about how left wing the BBC have actually become. The local BBC Radio Cornwall phone in DJ – Lawrence Reed said words to the effect that (with absolutely no irony) If you cant trust the BBC then who can you trust?

One caller on the phone in also made the valid point as to “why when local BBC reporters film and report on a local/national news story (such as the recent floods at Coverack) do the BBC also have to send a national BBC news crew down as well to film the same bloody story. BBC DJ Lawrence Reed – could give no credible answer. The answer is of course either
1 The local news crews are crap or
2 This organisation is awash with other peoples money and is quite happy spending it by duplicating news gathering efforts in an attempt at laundering this money so it appears as if it is being spent legitimately.

I am afraid waste and lies are hardwired into this organisation from the top to the very bottom and no amount of ” swamp draining” will ever be able to reform these swiss bankers. Time to say night night I think.

    Most, but not all, of the more serious incidents of rape and attempted rape and some of the more serious sexual assaults I have described took place on Savile’s own premises and not at the BBC. They were, however, connected with Savile’s work for the BBC. Usually, Savile either met the victim at the BBC or else he groomed the victim by offering the opportunity to attend the BBC before taking the victim elsewhere, often to his home or campervan. … For example, the News of the World made allegations about the taking of pornographic pictures of young girls and the picking-up of girls under 16 by male members of staff on the programme (Top of the Pops 1969-1971). {THE JIMMY SAVILE INVESTIGATION REPORT – feb2016}
