Notting Hill Carnival: Thousands enjoy sound, salsa and sun
Hundreds of thousands of revellers have descended on Notting Hill for the second day of carnival, which is being held in the shadow of Grenfell Tower. At least 80 people died during the blaze at the west London block in June. On Sunday, the carnival’s opening ceremony paid tribute to the victims and the sound systems were turned off for a minute’s silence. The Met Police said there were 122 arrests on Sunday, a fall of about 20% on last year. The police are putting the lower arrest figures possibly down to what they’re calling the Grenfell effect. It’s added a degree of poignancy that has seen minute’s silences held here, and people dress in green as a tribute to those who lost their lives. But I think most of that is far from most people’s minds; what most people are concentrating on is having a good time at carnival this year.

And here is a video of the people of Notting hill enjoying themselves as only the poor victims of racism in the UK can:

Aaah, Maxi! On to economics instead of disparaging and name calling. Good.

You are correct, the Eurozone did do better than UK in Q2.

But … but … if you remember what good old Steffie would have warned us about had she been here, GDP figures often have one or two re-adjustments later in the light of fresh information. In addition, she would always warn that one Q’s numbers were nothing to get too frantic about. That was for politicians and media types who were less educated in the ways of economics.

It is more important to look at longer trends.

However, the stats that pro-EU/Eurozone supporters rarely mention is that of world trade as a whole and the EU’s and Eurozone’s share of that trade. That is falling, at least for the EU of which the UK is still a part. Our share of EU trade is also falling, down by approx. one third 1992-2015 and has continued to decline.

A half-decent economist or observer would be disquieted by that and might be inclined to think ‘Leaving the EU is definitely a good idea.’ .

What do you think? Good to go?

              Not sure about that, Ian.

Tony Blair is, I think, the most despised UK PM in history now. Maggie: you can rest easier in your grave, old girl! John Major may now also be outdoing Maggie in some quarters.

Gordon Brown will be forever twinned, whether he or anyone likes it or not, with Tony Blair.

If our world is still turning in 200 years then, I think those two will be forever linked, even in death.

Long before then we have another twenty-years and four months before the Cabinet papers, if permitted to be released, tell us more of the inside No.10/No.11 story of September to December 2007 and the run up to that period. Then, a year after that we will possibly be allowed to learn what happened in the first half of 2008.

I do not think Gordon Brown will be viewed in a very good light after all of that but he will be remembered.

I see much of the damage having been done by Labour (both Brown and his predecessor) reflected in the salaries of government workers and their allied trades. It was under Labour that Vice Chancellors’ pay rocketed, but so did that of teachers, nurses etc. Headteachers on over £100,000 a year are common. I know one who moans frequently about the amount of effort she has to put in – for well over £100,000 a year, I expect her to work all hours for that sort of money. Governors at schools still insist on increasing Headteachers’ pay in the year or two before they retire – to boost their pension. No-one questions who has to fund those salaries and pensions but it has to be generated by people working in industry and the like paying tax.

These PFI initiatives – they wouldn’t be, would they, the same ones that wind up with the assets being expensively leased by public sector organisations for quite a long time, then, at the end of the lease period – during which time, no doubt, some of the money being paid to the lessors will have been used to upgrade and maintain to a good standard the buildings such as schools, hospitals, etc. ?

Then these assets – still in very good nick, of course (for example, hospitals would have to be, almost by definition) revert to the lessor who, I am sure will be willing to extend the leases, at a price, naturally, given the potentially incredible cost of building, e.g. a new hospital, in a city environment – land purchase, construction costs, infrastructure impact and further costs, etc., etc.

But, I am sure that there are inexpensive get-out clauses whereby future governments can easily, and at little cost, simply abandon these assets and leave the lessor to pick up the tab……..yeah, right. of course there are.

Nah – I am sure that Gordon Brown knew exactly what he was doing, didn’t he ?

I heard some Beeboid this morning comment that the new bridge would significantly reduce travel time for everyone from crossing the River Forth.

OK, would some BBC nonce with some knowledge of queuing theory or logistics please tell me how journey times will be significantly reduced by splitting the normal flow of traffic into two streams just north of the River Forth, with a tiny minority of traffic (public transport vehicles only) using the old two-lanes-each-way Forth Road Bridge, and the vast majority of vehicles using the new Queensferry Crossing (still just two-lanes-each-way), and then immediately South of the River Forth, both streams are brought back together to use precisely the same roads that they were using already.

The same bottlenecks will exist – having shifted perhaps a half a mile or so at best at some point of the rush-hour…. which, at the rate of traffic flow will take just a few minutes or so extra to revert to the same steady-state flow of traffic on the same roads into and around Edinburgh – even when they lift the 40mph limit imposed all over the area whilst the roadworks around the Forth Bridges area were being completed – where nobody gets anywhere near 40mph anyway, given traffic volumes at peak times.

The explanation should be really interesting ! But no doubt Ms Sturgeon and her knuckle-dragging cohorts will claim it as a complete success, no matter what.

Strange that we have not heard about her government’s ‘success’ in solving alcohol-related deaths in Scotland via her banning of multi-buy offers on (pretty much just) wine products, and her more recent attempt to introduce a Minimum Unit Pricing on alcohol. In fact, since the introduction of the earlier legislation in 2012, the 9-year downward trend in alcohol-related deaths reversed quite markedly since the introduction of these laws. It could not possibly be, for instance, that people who were, in the main, buying the multi-buy offers, weren’t the ones who would end up killing themselves with alcohol, but simply savvy purchasers when buying their regular tipple. No doubt Ms Sturgeon will argue that this too has somehow been a huge success, and demand to press on, along the same path.

A classic (especially left-wing) government ideology that somehow punishing everyone for the acts of a few is more effective – actually, it’s only easier, not more effective, since you don’t have to determine and deal with the root causes of the problem you are trying to solve with legislation. It’s then ever so difficult to determine whether a policy has been effective or not…or has just pushed the problem somewhere else.

A bit like the new Queens Crossing Bridge is likely to turn out to be.

        Richard D,

Thank God I do not live in Edinburgh any more.

One of the other alcohol anomalies in Scotland is that you cannot buy alcohol before 10 in the morning. Ridiculous inconvenience for all shoppers. But, I would imagine that the alkies buy at 10 and just drink more quickly thereby adding to the problem. It reminds me of the law that restricts the amount of paracetamol or ibuprofen that you can buy at one outlet. So if you want more you have to go to more than one outlet.

It seems to me that the one unifying factor among almost all politicians is that they are total morons.

If only England had a “John Milton” (1608-1674).

After his death his love of Liberty and moral attitude was praised by Mr Wordsworth. Milton’s spiritual legacy. The opening lines go like this:

Milton! Thou shouldest be living at this hour; England hath need of thee: she is a fen, of stagnant waters: alter, sword and pen……….Of inward happiness. We are selfish men…Oh! Raise us up, return to us again.. And give us manners, freedom, virtue, power….(Bickley 1961)

I like the bit about the “stagnant waters” I’m sure Trumps “swamp” may have been inspired by him.

I remember a few years ago on the Weather Channel in the USA, a young weather-man called Jim Cantore (now a ‘more mature’ desk-jockey on the same channel). He used to appear at almost every major weather event in the US and, initially, I thought, ‘ham it up’ with the conditions.

Over a few years, I realised that this was not really an act, he really would be blown off-camera by the severity of the winds he was reporting on, flying almost like a flag on some lamp-post, struggling through snow-storms so heavy that he was almost invisible when more than just a couple of feet from the camera lens, and literally soaked through and through in tropical rainstorms.

Nowadays, the BBC weather people seem just to go through the motions in some special ‘North Face’ (or equally expensive name-badge) outfit – trying to look weather-worn, but probably no more that a few yards from some BBC caravan and their favourite latte.

I understand US TV has recently dramatised Margaret Atwood’s dystopian novel ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ (1985), set in a near-future US taken over by a fundie Christian totalitarian theocracy in which women are downtrodden breeding stock. Since the BBC are convinced this is Donald Trump’s Cunning Plan for the US, perhaps they are trying to publicise the programme? (I saw a trailer for it on Aussie TV, and decided I’d rather eat my own pancreas.)

The book was written over thirty years ago. Have we seen any sign of it coming true? Do you regularly get mown down by Amish-style females in quaint bonnets, driving their horse-drawn buggies much too fast? No, neither have I. Most of us realise the only theocracy heading our way is one in which women wear burqas.

What a shame none of the TV companies are showing us dramas about our real future.

I’ve recently been watching repeats of ‘The Onedin Line’ (set in 1860) and one thing that strikes me is how ‘Muslim’ the Onedins are. Eg in one scene, Onedin’s sister announces she is pregnant after a fling with a sailor. Onedin slaps her round the face and tells her she must marry or get out. Then he and his brother find the father, beat him up and force him to marry the girl. Onedin himself has a kind of ‘arranged’ marriage in order to get a ship from his wife’s father.

It is quite simply impossible to conceive of any native British nominal Christian man doing such a thing nowadays, either on TV or in real life, but in 1971 this was considered acceptable behaviour for a hero in a TV drama. Onedin was not some sort of backward villain we are meant to despise. I’m pretty sure it would be considered normal in the Indian subcontinent and Pakistan today as well. Yet we never hear any objections from ‘progressives’ and feminists about uncontrolled Muslim immigration.

It’s been said before, but my belief is that many women secretly are attracted to this kind of unapologetic forceful male.

The BBC have put a lot of time and effort dramatizing and presenting as news the following video story that they are headlining on their main news homepage:

Headline: ‘I was groomed and sexually abused by 30 or 40 men’
From the age of 13, “Ben” (not his real name), was groomed and sexually abused by 30 or 40 adult men. It began shortly after he came out as gay on social media. But as his parents were trying to protect him from these predatory older men, Ben says he was dismissed and even blamed by the authorities responsible for protecting him. … Produced, filmed & edited by Elise Wicker and Rob Brown. Click here to listen to Ben’s full story in the File on 4 programme …

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/magazine-41042306/i-was-groomed-and-sexually-abused-by-30-or-40-men

What the BBC are trying to do is to say: hey you may have heard of Muslim rape gangs in Rotherham and elsewhere but look here we have a group of 30 to 40 (white) older men raping a gay boy of thirteen who has come out on social media. Rape gangs occur in all cultures, it has nothing to do with Islam.

That is the message the BBC Islamists want you to take home from this.

Meanwhile the BBC are still going batshit crazy on their “India’s rapist guru” story (something they have been headlining for five days now). Guru is a label for Hindu or Sikh holy men. You will never see the BBC creating headlines about “rapist Imams” or “rapist Muslims”.

It struck me as a rather contrived story to make the point, although it is a despicable tale. But is it also homophobic? Is it implying that groups of homosexual men are a problem as well? And is it trying to draw a link between homosexuality and paedophilia? Dangerous ground, BBC. I appreciate it is a subject close to your hearts (especially so to some present and former employees), but I don’t think the Junior Common Room Committee of Sub-Editors has fully thought this one through.

Exactly – ‘Ben says….’ is not news – because it is a single-source story, with no evidence that we know of. It is just a story, as they make clear in the description…. Fact is this may be true or not, and it may be real or not, but it has been chosen by the BBC to show how bad white men are. Note that they never managed to find or didn’t bother to find one of over 1400 female children in Rotherham and publish their stories – which can be and have been verified.

Nice little “milk of human kindness ” story today from the BBC.

It concerned the re-integration of former sex slave women back into the Yazdi community – Ahhhh you think and I thought so too. Yes it was a good and poignant story to hear as these poor women had been to hell and back . But I am constantly amazed at the brass neck this organisation demonstrates.

Here they are celebrating the freedom of these women and yet only a few months back they were encouraging the bombing of the only force keeping the country together (Assad) and critisising every move the russians made whilst the West still supported a whole number of questionable “rebels.”

I wonder whether these Yazdi women would have been quite so welcoming to the BBC reporter had they known the full scale of BBCs indirect support for ISIS.

This ogranisation reminds me very much of school where the bullies were always accompanied by a number of weedy kids who on their own were nothing but were quick to change allegience as soon as their former leader gets dethroned by a rival.

This organisation lacks any sort of morality other than the morality of maggot. It crawls over everything tainting that which is good and despoiling even further that which is already in decay.

Sometimes the sheer hypocrisy of this bastard organisation leaves me speechless and this mornings touching little story was one of those times.

Then there is climate change. It is clear al Beeb policy that every one must ascent to the scientific theory that the climate is changing for the worse because of us so therefore we must be taxed more and more personal power removed from us.

I do not believe the case is made for the theory that we are changing the climate. But my issue is the manner al Beeb approaches it. They sound like the inquisition asking the same question until they get the answer they want. It is a fanatical believe they have. Fortunately it doesn’t really matter because in reality if the theory is true then the human race will be regulated by the planet because population and industrialisation continues to grow and is seen as a good thing. I’m a Gaia follower. We and albeeb will be long gone when this happens.

Up2snuff, I have a theory that there are innate beliefs in human nature. These change according to culture and religion and nationality and era, but overall there are marked similarities. One such is the doomsday scenario. For much of our recorded history in Britain this was the Second Coming. Now that Christianity is largely gone from western thought, doomsday has been replaced by environmental catastrophe. Some on the right who do not subscribe to that believe in an Islamic takeover as the equivalent. What annoys me is that supposedly intelligent people refuse to debate this and just shout down any opposition with nonsense like ‘the science is settled’ which is about as rational as saying ‘it’s true because it says so in the Bible.’

Listening and changing our culture based on what minorities want will make our culture greater.

            Beijing (China) has proven itself rather shrewd (Dishonest? Liars? Frauds?). At home it has been steadily reducing its reliance on coal (meeting it’s international obligations!), replacing it with renewable energy. Yet all the while — it has been happy to invest in dirty energy abroad (so China does not care about the environment?), with profits returning to boost the domestic sector {dailytimes aug2017}

The Chinese jumped aboard the funding wagon, the NGO’s set up head quarters in China and the money started to flow thru the NGO’s charitable orgs etc, EU funding pressure groups the same way, the gravy train growing glutenous as Marxist gravy trains do, all under-pinned by the theory of an ice cold gas bath trapping heat in the element at the bottom being heated through the gas by sunlight.

The heat isn’t trapped, in the lower atmosphere it is created under the ideal gas law, and is a product of force, gravity

            Cranmer, interesting post.

I approach it slightly from a different angle but I think you are right. One of those ‘beliefs’ in man is a belief he can become God and also has an innate desire to be God but when things get tough he then ends up making his own (little) ‘gods’ and prays to them instead of to a God who can answer.

That is, unless he (man) has the right perspective on things, as did some of the ancients and all of the Patriarchs. It would appear that through human history man has known how fragile he is when compared to the forces of nature.

Not just the Second Coming as a doomsday scenario. What about knowledge of and faith in the promise to Noah: “No more water, it’s fire next time!” ?

Cranmer, “Millenniarianism”? No, just every day existence. The guys back then hardly knew how to count but they knew famine – as pastoral communities – and might even be able to see it coming and adjust accordingly.

Reliable prophets were in short supply even in the prophetic period (when prophets were two a penny but most of them were not even worth a much smaller fraction of one) which didn’t really get underway until recently. By recently, I mean about three thousand or so years ago.

Were there are millennianists pre-Noah? I would have thought that that was more of a modern concept from Messianic prophecy, King David’s time onward.

At no point in the BBC R4 coverage of Hurricane Harvey have I heard a BBC reporter explain that there are two Colorado Rivers in the southern half of the USA. The one in the west is the one most people will be familiar with; out west they sometimes refer to it as the GREAT Colorado River. (Well, they would say that, wouldn’t they?) The BBC, on R4 at least, appear happy to not educate or inform about the other Colorado River.

The BBC appear to be content to create or maintain ambiguity and confusion.

    RE: Whitewashing.

“The Deadpool star said he did not know the race of the character when he accepted the part.”

Most people just do not see race as such a big issue; there are too many professional victims stirring things up. What if he did a brilliant audition and would have made a fantastic film? What if another actor of ‘appropriate heritage’ did not audition as well and would thus make a worse film? What happened to judging someone by the content of their character and not the colour of their skin?

The writers of Luther originally envisaged the lead being white, but Idris Elba is such a brilliant actor so what not cast him instead? Who cares when he did such a good job? When they cast the Office they originally had someone very different from Mackenzie Crook in mind for the role of Gareth, but he auditioned so well that they changed their minds. He was brilliant and you could not imagine anyone else playing that part so perfectly. He was meant to be fat in the original script. Is this this ‘fat washing’?

If the race of the character were integral to the plot of the film the casting directors would never have considered casting someone from another race. I wish these SJWs would focus their energies on real problems rather than pathetic moral busybodying like this, poking their noses in where it is not wanted or needed. Why not focus on gang culture, FGM or literacy levels among certain communities? Obviously that would involve too much hard work so they waste their energies on pathetic nonsense like this,

I agree – so much of what I read on their website would not seem out of place on a satirical website like The Onion. My personal favourite was their faux outrage over Kelvin Mackenzie likening Ross Barkley to a gorilla; having researched his family tree and discovered his grandfather was mixed race, this was deemed to be racist. It’s a bit much when you have to research someone’s genealogy to discover you can be offended on their behalf. Note how the ‘victims’ of the offences never actually seem to care – the Beeb nobly take offence vicariously.

So now when addressing anyone you must first research their entire family tree in case you are inadvertently offending them. Tell someone to liven up and this could be deeply offensive if it turned out their cousin had once suffered from depression.

I tend to agree with you, the best way to deal with not just the BBC but the whole liberal left apparatus for the suppression of democracy , is to laugh at it. But to get to this point you have to go through the phases of initial anger, then despair to arrive at amusment. But my amusement is tinged with a type of schadenfreude . I am certain that the liberal left are taking down the road to hell with their one world policy , but of course there is little any individual can do to stop this other than use ones vote but who is there to vote for who is against the liberal left? So I shake my head with a wry grin when the BBC et al force us further down the road to hell, safe in the knowledge that they can’t take away the good years that I remember and that hopefully before we reach the dreadful fate that awaits I won’t be here to see it. One regret is that I won’t be able to see how the fools react , who they blame , what excuses do they invent.

Then I reached the one with the pic of a cup of tea, captioned: ‘Why I have the social skills of a used tea bag’. I thought ‘How appropriate!’.

That’s the BBC for you: equivalent of a used tea bag.

Actually, less use than a used tea bag. If you are Eric & Ernie you can get great humour out of a used tea bag. If your personal circumstances are really bad, then you might just squeeze out one more cuppa from two or three used bags.

To no-one’s surpise, Justin Webb used the Texas disaster to promote his favourite topic – climate change. It does not matter to him that there has been no change in the frequency and intensity of hurricanes over a hundred years, and that storminess and rainfall have also shown no upward trend (indeed, is it not correct that the IPCC itself acknowledges this fact?).
The interview Justin Webb had with the Texas judge was unintentionally revealing. The judge was induced into implying that there was little point Trump visiting the area, but he also said that the operational and organisational work was primarily the responsibility of the state and local officials. Quite so. But the BBC ignored that fact during Katrina. At that time, the inaction or hopelessly inadequate action of Governor Blanco and the Mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin were plain to see, but they were both given a free pass by the BBC, who took the opportunity to unfairly place all the blame on their bête noir, George Bush, for the chaos in New Orleans. It was shocking bias by the BBC at the time, and its intolerable that the BBC continues to follow that narrative.

Perhaps I have missed comments about the 5 year old white Christian girl forced into a Muslim foster home in Tower Hamlets. Certainly I can’t find any mention of it on the BBC web site. Imagine if the religion of the two parties involved had been reversed, the outcry from the BBC, Guardian et al would have been volcanic and the council officials would have been forced to resign by the twitter storm. The little girl is being badly let down by the council , the BBC , The Guardian and all the liberals who are looking the other way and sitting on their hands. Let us hope that she is rescued soon.
Making sarcastic comments is in bad taste and I really ought not to do it, but I wonder if this is an experiment by the Muslim community to see how easily Christian children can be converted to Islam. It will provide useful data in years to come when this type of conversion will become increasingly common. No doubt the next set of conversion experiments will be done on older children. Not content with outbreeding Christians by more than two to one the Muslims now want to convert Christian children.

Similarly I’m sure that that many will have noticed the lack of any real leadership shown or responsibility taken at a local level by Mayor Khan with regards to Grenfell. All he did was criticise government and demand action, blatantly passing the buck. Wtf was his office doing? Did he, as Mayor of London, not have the responsibility and the resources to manage this disaster.
Maybe I’ve missed his contribution, but the Bbc seemed only interested in allowing him to attempt to apportion blame not to resolve issues, and did not appear to question his agitating role or pathetic response.

  43. Pounce says:

Regards the bBCs scarmongering coverage of Hurricane Harvey , I found the this Guardian article much more informative:
What makes Houston so vulnerable to serious floods?
Flooding is nothing new to Houston residents. Over the past five decades no other urban area in the country has experienced as many casualties and property loss from flooding. Former Hurricane Harvey has made its way across Texas and Louisiana, killing at least nine people In 2015, eight people died in what local media described as “historic flooding”. In 2016, what became known as the “tax day floods” saw three waterways in the city exceed their “500-year flood levels”. Six people died.

The city’s impermeable roads and sidewalks are built on the coastal prairie and wetlands of the western Gulf, and its topography is flat, with no run-off area for excess water.

The size of tropical storm Harvey – some experts estimate it has already dumped 12tn gallons of rain in Houston and south Texas – is unusual. But there is no single reason for the extent of the impact it has had at street level. “It’s a combination of factors,” said Sam Brody, a professor in the department of marine sciences at Texas A&M University. “It’s a very low-lying coastal plain, with clay-based soils that do not drain very well. The city is subject to very heavy rainfall, as well as flooding from tidal events. “You take that flood-risk landscape and you put 6 million people on top, with prolific amount of pavement and roadways and a lack of collective and regional thinking about what that does to the natural drainage of that landscape, and you end up with disasters.”The city has added hundreds of square miles of pavement and vastly increased its housing stock, but the flooding infrastructure has, in some areas, not kept pace.

“Many neighbourhoods are still using roadside ditches as drainage. It’s like the Middle Ages almost,” Brody said. When the city experiences heavy rain – which happens a lot due to its humid subtropical climate – the water has nowhere to go. In new developments where modern drainage systems are installed, Brody said they are often “treating the symptoms, not addressing the underlying problem”. Those developments themselves might have systems in place to prevent them flooding. But those systems can involve channelling additional water into streams or bayous already at capacity. In severe storms that water can gush downstream and threaten older neighbourhoods that traditionally may have been less prone to flooding.

      Pounce,

Sounds a bit like Gambia, where I live. But they have an excuse. It is a very poor country. Heavy rain last week washed many buildings and houses away. Every rainy season , people drown, mainly kids. It is normal in many parts of the world.

The Government reveals a plan for all UK’s biggest firms will have to reveal how much more their chief executives are paid compared with the average worker and the bBC headline reads:

The terrorist supporters and child buggerers at the bBC did initially report the above, but then changed it to the above.

Why should the BBC not have to “reveal ” the same information ? Surely the public sector should have to obey the same rules. After all, we are paying for the lazy bastards.

    Want a beach party? Head to Rimini (Italy)! {simonseeks.com}
“If further celebrity endorsement were needed, George Clooney regularly hits town to hang with the local Ducati/Harley biking fraternity, while Jay Kay of Jamiroquai moors his yacht in the sparkling new marina just outside the centre.”

    Italian police are looking for four perpetrators of a brutal attack on two Polish tourists on the beach in Rimini, where a 26-year-old woman was raped and her husband beaten. The Italian press on Sunday is calling the attack on the Poles “bestial” and “inhuman”. … Even in the face of the horror of a group rape against a girl, the politically correctness softens the blow. Rape is an infamous crime, regardless of who commits it. But the point is: why not say who, or rather who is being sought as the alleged persons responsible, as is happening in the case of the girl raped on the beach of Rimini? Readers of most of yesterday’s daily newspapers and news broadcasts, which have also reserved a lot of room for the matter, do not know or have the slightest idea, reading between the lines, that the police are hunting for three Maghreb (North African) immigrants. {gatesofvienna.net aug2017}

    BBC Search ‘Rimini’ Results:
Body found in suitcase in Italian port of Rimini
Rimini medieval work saved for nation
Mother ‘threw anorexic daughter’s body into the sea’
Italy acid attack model Gessica Notaro braves TV show
(no news of Rimini attacks on Polish tourists)

    – BBC misses chance to report on brutal Rapes in Rimini, a place where entertainment stars like George Clooney frequent?

So ALL press organisations will become charities like the Guardian USA? BBC included soon?

“New rule: If churches don’t have to pay taxes, they can’t call the fire department when they catch fire. Sorry reverend, that’s one of those services that goes along paying in. I’ll use the fire department I pay for. You can pray for rain.”

If Press Organisations don’t want to pay taxes then will they lose the right to use the ambulance, police and fire services?

You heard if first on the BBC!! –
‘Snapchat’ users (10million alone in the UK) spend on average 40 mins a day exchanging ‘things’ with their young friends. Wow! That 40 mins a day will be much higher when the young things include Facebook and all the rest. I trust potential employers will assess what time potential employees starting out on their working life, will devote practically to any employment they may be given?

Stars promote themselves with Houston Flooding – can’t Chris Martin just go and help, rather than generating news about how they are going to help everyone by signing?

Coldplay, who had to postpone a concert in Houston last week because of the hurricane, have also written a song for those affected by the floods. … They debuted the track in Miami on Monday night, with Chris Martin telling the audience it would only be played once.

The song, called Houston, included the lyrics: “There’s a harmony that bonds down there in Houston / Oh, Houston, you got to keep on keepin’ on.”

Quick to preach how others should live their lives not so quick to open their pockets or their houses to practice what they preach (I believe we are still waiting for Messrs Bragg and Geldof to open their houses to refugees.).

No it is far easier to pen some cliche ridden anthem to keep themselves in the public eye and make themselves feel good and virtuous..

I was listening to a bit of Sibelius tonight and thought – How far away from much of this modern shit is something like the Finlandia hymn, which seems to have been written from the heart and appears to be sung from the heart.

Still these days the Love of ones country and culture for its own sake is an anachronism which Quisling toerags like the BBC will never understand and have been chipping away at for years. They have replaced patriotism with a sense of awkwardness and embarrassment and/or even hostility with suggested overtones of “waycism” Older classical pieces appearing to be valued less than the meaningless “edgy” white noise which TV “yoof” producers want to forcefeed us all with.

These days according to the BBC the past is worth nothing and we only live in the here and now. Which also means we learn nothing from the past and are therefore doomed to make the same mistakes from history without even a strong society and culture to protect us because the left have pretty much destroyed this too.

        Bastards.
