I await with interest to see which way Harding swings [in the new year] when he leaves the BBC as he sets out to ‘report’ news slanted to suit his own world view….which apparently he couldn’t do at the BBC…so presumably he is a rabid right-winger as lefties have no problem pushing their own agendas on the BBC…..

The BBC‘s director of news and current affairs James Harding is to stand down from the role after five years to start a new media firm.

The former Times editor – appointed in April 2013 – will leave the corporation in the new year to set up his own media venture with a ‘distinct approach to the news’.

Harding, 48, called working at the broadcaster ‘rewarding and worthwhile’ and said his new company would focus on journalism that the BBC ‘for all its brilliance, can’t, and probably shouldn’t, do’.

He added: ‘And that’s what I want to explore: I am going to start a new media company with a distinct approach to the news and a clear point of view.

He’ll be covering the stories the BBC “can’t and probably shouldn’t do” I don’t get that .If its newsworthy and in the public interest there is nothing they shouldn’t cover. And if they werent so paralysed with PC they would. They are a news organisation allegedly.

So just for starters we can expect him to produce in depth stories about the real reasons for the proliferation of rape gangs. The real consequences of unfettered immigration and the collapse of public services and the real story of how Jimmy Saville infiltrated the BBC.

    I won’t hold my breath.

      Following Greg Dyke’s footsteps then!

Just shows what sort of poison is still left over from the Blair/Campbell sneers.

“the stories the BBC “can’t and probably shouldn’t do”

Sums up BBC top floor professionalism and editorial integrity as a ‘news’ medium pretty well.

They are a news organisation? I think they stopped being that years ago. They are now a social engineering company. If they ever do revert back to truthful and unbiased news reporting then this site can disappear from the web.

        Social engineers ?

As Thomas Sowell wrote , a real engineer who built a bridge ignoring actual facts and logic would be prosecuted when his work collapsed and killed or injured people .

Social ‘engineers’ get away with anything .

Probably a coincidence of course, but as the first Jewish editor of the Times and being on record as ‘…supporting the State of Israel…’ it’s just possible that James found certain increasingly entrenched attitudes and loyalties within the BBC a bit difficult to reconcile?

Maybe one for Nick Robinson to ‘analyse’ or Little Mxony to steer clear of?

      Talking about firsts.

Malcolm Muggeridge on the sorry state of affairs in his day:

“Whereas other civilisations have been brought down by attacks of barbarians from without, ours had the unique distinction of training its own destroyers at its own educational institutions, and then providing them with facilities for propagating their destructive ideology far and wide, all at the public expense.”

He could have been referring to Ex-Oxford, Ex-Cambridge graduates of 2017 who were/are later employed by the BBC!

While in reality Muggers – a strange yet fascinating mixture of satyr and Jesuit – was talking of the tutors at the overwhelming majority of UK seats of further education. They have now indoctrinated the graduates who have already become the journalists, program makers, managers and directors who attempt to remould history and distort reality.

Muggeridge was not the only one who saw the reality of what the greatest danger are to this country from within.

“England is perhaps the only great country whose intellectuals are ashamed of their own nationality. In left-wing circles it is always felt that there is something slightly disgraceful in being an Englishman and that it is a duty to snigger at every English institution, from horse racing to suet puddings. —–
All through the critical years many left-wingers were chipping away at English morale, trying to spread an outlook that was sometimes squashily pacifist, sometimes violently pro-Russian, but always anti-British.”
        George Orwell

The only difference between what Orwell said then and the same attitudes today is too update it by substituting Russia (USSR) of his period to the EU of today.

        And yet again

“The worst difficulties from which we suffer do not come from without. They come from within. They do not come from the cottages of the wage-earners. They come from a peculiar type of brainy people always found in our country, who, if they add something to its culture, take much from its strength. Our difficulties come from the mood of unwarrantable self-abasement into which we have been cast by a powerful section of our own intellectuals. They come from the acceptance of defeatist doctrines by a large proportion of our politicians. But what have they to offer but a vague internationalism, a squalid materialism, and the promise of impossible Utopias?”
        Winston Churchill

Don’t both those comments reflect with complete accuracy the attitude of our Leftist Liberal-Elite today and more especially that of the bBBC constantly spreading exactly the same anti-British propaganda?

Does anyone know if this Mr Harding is pro Brexit………..the money would be on them waiting to see what he does next
and whether a counter narrative to their “Remain” obsession manifests itself.

Harding may have concluded that the Uk mood is changing towards Europe ( Thank-you Mr Barnier)

Wouldn’t it be be wonderful to see the bBC reduced to a minoritry bit part player as things evolve and them being joined
by this dreadful SNP bunch who are up there with Clegg in terms of EU adoration.

If he tweets he must do under a secret account.

I do see a handful of Brexiteers calling him a Remoaner
