Weekend Open Thread

The problem with the NHS?  It’s a funding issue, not millions more patients, and ‘some say’ the NHS is being deliberately run-down by the Government. Car sales down?  It’s because of ‘uncertainty due to Brexit’.  Trump?  A sex attacker just like Harvey Weinstein, an allegation made repeatedly on the Today show without a word of dissent.  Want to fly to America after Brexit?….not a chance…all flights will be grounded….#duetobrexit [rest assured it’s not the BBC’s job to scaremonger the presenter tells us…however….lol].

Any more BBC bias?  List it all here….

BBC more false news by not reporting the full facts

Most expensive year on record for US natural disasters
    Report from their news site
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-42608161

Yes. This part may be true, but without reporting the other side they are deliberately trying to fool the gullible who accept whatever they say without question,
The report gives the impression it is worldwide caused by global warming.

Now balance the report with the rest of the facts.
At this point they should have finished the article with ‘however’

    http://www.iflscience.com/environment/the-world-didnt-have-many-natural-disasters-in-2017-except-for-the-us/

New research by the International Disaster Database shows that 2017 witnessed considerably less natural disasters and far fewer disaster-related deaths than average. Worldwide, there was a 30 percent decrease in the number of incidents and a third or fewer people victimised or killed by climate-related hazards.

Yep, saw the GBS programme Stew, and wasn’t it just made for the BBC ! Nevertheless, the socialism aside it was still interesting. Having been to Shaw’s Corner several times (I live nearby and is a useful venue for visiting friends), it was a bit of staged theatre for the camera showing the Oscar being used as a door-stop. In fact it would get knicked if it was ! Its kept under wraps in a glass topped viewing case, as is the Nobel Prize Certificate. Nothing was mentioned either, that GBS was great friends with Augustus John, and TE Lawrence – (Lawrence of Arabia).

BBC finally admit that Germany is our overlord
    Via Guido commenter
Remember this the next time the BBC talks about the EU being a partnership of equals or that they are impartial on the issue.
Occasionally the BBC lets the truth slip out. This is from a piece about German coalition talks. ‘… the rest of Europe hopes that the EU’s most powerful county will get back into the driving seat’.

Not only does the BBC admit that Germany runs the EU they go onto claim that the other nations of the Union are happy with this and want to be under strong, German leadership.

Ah, Dunkirk. Cinemas full of popcorn-crunching, goggle-eyed audiences, seemingly in total ignorance of the way their country, culture, and lives are slowly but surely being wrested away from them outside, where they are not allowed to participate in certain actions, and every utterance is now potentially a crime.

Outside they are wary, subdued and controlled for fear of inadvertently upsetting someone or saying anything which may get them arrested. In this manner, their docility is more or less assured.

The second world war was a complete waste of time, it would seem.

Watching Spitfires shoot down Messerschmitts never fails. My cousin was RAF air crew during the war, and I never forget his sacrifice, nor that of the tens of thousands of other young men who “grow not old”.

The tragic thing about watching “Dunkirk”, as Mark Steyn noted, is that you have to leave the cinema into a present day world, where all that sacrifice has been completely negated by the stupidity and cowardice of our political establishment.

Not one British serviceman in World War II died fighting for Britain to become a muslim state within this century. It is the greatest betrayal of all history.

You are spot on. My father was in Bomber Command and in his later years he often wondered if it had been worth it. He died ten years ago and now , as we continue to plunge towards an Islamic Republic ( unless Charles adopts the faith of course which is certainly possible ) and an Eurabia , I feel his doubts would be much stronger, his generation defeated one great evil only for our generation to allow it to be replaced with another.

I hope that my grandson will not be called upon to make the same sacrifice so that we may continue to enjoy the freedoms that their forbears fought for so valiantly.

Do you ever wonder who these mysterious, helmet-clad acid attackers are? I do, but usually their identities aren’t revealed as they’re ‘minors’ (though I’ve never understood why that gives them the right to anonymity). At best we see grainy cctv pix of some blokes in helmets. However, in the case of this multiple acid attack charmer, ‘Judge Noel Lucas QC told Wood Green Crown Court there was an “overwhelming, huge public interest” in identifying the teenager despite his age after he pleaded guilty to the total of 12 counts.’

    Brave judge.

But not so brave bbc, who in their wisdom apparently decided it was NOT in the public interest to identify the acid attacker, or at least not for very long. The photo fleetingly appeared on their Home page very late last night for a nano-second, but by this morning had been relegated to the ‘regions’, where it will soon disappear altogether.

I wonder why such delicate sensitivity from of our most trusted broadcaster?

Perhaps it’s the same sensitivity that inspired them to relegate this other story straight to Regions: “Boy, 16, arrested over Mill Hill shop worker death”. Again, too young to reveal his identity. The shopkeeper was killed by 3 ‘youths’ for refusing to sell them cigarette papers without I.D. The three suspects have been described by police as black teenagers.

Much, much, much more important than acid attacks and murder on the streets of our wonderfully diverse capital city are: diesel cars; did Trump forget the words to the US anthem? (shock horror); a gay wedding in Australia (aw shucks); endless trivia, endless vacuous anti-Trumpery, endless vacuous modish pc crap.

Worth every penny of the £147 extortion fee.

BBC London News too requires we read between the lines:

“Boy, 16, arrested over Mill Hill shop worker death”

        http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-42616297

“The victim, 49, was assaulted outside a convenience shop on The Broadway, Mill Hill, on 6 January. He died in hospital on Monday. Police said he was attacked after three teenagers were refused items including cigarette papers… When they were refused due to concerns about their age, officers said they became aggressive and threatened to vandalise the shop. ”

So, even when (and if) prosecuted their identities and backgrounds will disappear within the legal system. We the public will remain none the wiser. Meanwhile, we will just have to trust our legal and journalistic overlords as to their word on the state of public safety. No names, no packdrill, as they used to say (which meant – we know what happened and who was responsible but we’ll let it go).

I mean when did all this really, seriously start, I don’t remember the BEEB being like it is now when I was a kid, or even 20 years ago, but maybe I just couldn’t see it and now the wool has been pulled from my eyes?

Did it start with the appointment of Lord Haw Haw (6 years ago), or did it creep up on us (like the smell of stale urine) with the tragic senile decline of Saint David the Anti-Trump (? years ago)?

Or was it earlier than that, much, much earlier perhaps, and I was just too young and naive to notice the lies and propaganda for what they were?

      Interesting question there BBC.
I was reflecting on that myself recently, and I’m ashamed to say the BBC have been influential in the forming of my held opinions for the last 20 years or so. I can look back on the opinions I held and I now see the influence the BBC had; I thought Regan was a clown, Bush an imbecile, Gore a white Knight. Clinton (the cocky one), a sublime statesman. I thought the IRA were fighting a brave struggle against oppressors, and of course I thought the Common Market was a wonderful idea. I had nagging doubts of course, but the BBC being impartial must have got it just about right, surely.
There has always been a Leftish slant to their propaganda but it has become a lot more extreme & obvious in the last 5 year I think.
Also whilst I’m waxing about general trends, I’ve been trying to find a post on here which I disagree with (trying to retain my impartiality in all matters), & for the last 3 weeks I have not found one! We are of course a echo chamber on this site, which is why we like it. But ask yourselves this my fellow travellers, ignoring our opinions, what facts are we getting wrong ?

BigBro, I have written before that as a long-term Beeb watcher, for me it started in the dog days of the Brown administration. It seemed obvious that Alastair Campbell, in conjunction with Labour Ministers and their Departments, was manipulating the media and the BBC then started to push back at that a bit. Aided by the crash & recession, of course. (Beeboids scared for their wealth?)

Then when ‘Dave’ won and managed to form a Government, the BBC stood back and watched for a while. Remember Nick Robinson was Politics Editor and was rather more neutral then than he is now as a Tweeter and Toady. As soon as the Coalition Govt really got going with things, especially those the BBC did not like, then the anti-Government, anti-Conservative thing (primarily the latter) really got going.

The London Olympic year seemed a bit pivotal. Remember all the Peter White stuff, before during and after?

Seems strange now but UKIP were also a growing political Party back then and showed a real possibility of growth in votes and representation. Some of the Beeb slide Left-wards may well have been in response to that.

Then there was the untrue narrative that the Left tried and failed to spread: Blair & Brown were totally innocent in the crash of 2007-2009, it was something brought on us by others outside the UK. Once Labour was tarred more correctly with their failures by the public, the BBC may have felt they needed to compensate. Add to all that the guilt that some at the BBC must feel for their gilded pay & prospects all the while passing on the ‘austerity’ message and the ‘Tory cuts’ message, knowing that inequality grew drastically during the Blair/Brown years. How to assuage that? Go more Left with your output. Virtue signal increasingly and at every opportunity.

The BBC are also, for a Liberal-ish, Left-ish organisation, very, very Americaphile. Obama was ‘a great white hope’ when elected to office (me, too, I was a fan from 2007 up to his second term) and I’m sure Obama’s failure to achieve anything must have hit them hard. Harder than it hit me. (I’m just left completely puzzled by the failure of the Obama administration.)

So I would say, a downward slide to the Left for the BBC started for me around 2008/9 for the above reasons. The last couple of weeks. though, have been incredible. Never known anything like that.

Thanks for the replies to my query, it accords with what I feel too, although some of the more mature commentators here might feel the bias goes back longer, perhaps? It seems to require a certain degree of maturity to notice the bias and not to be sucked in by the propaganda.

Until the 1960s, MI5 vetted all senior appointments to BBC management. The government realised the power of the state broadcaster, and wished to make sure that subversives were not promoted within in.

I think that changed when Hugh Carleton Greene was the Director General. Since then, management of the BBC has evolved to represent the left wing zeitgeist of the metropolitan establishment. Since the BBC does not have to satisfy any commercial constraints, there is no financial incentive to employ people who can actually do their jobs; on the contrary, like all government bodies, the trend over time is to invent jobs for “people like us”.

I would imagine the only way to get sacked at the BBC nowadays is to be seen reading the Daily Mail.

Typical BBC hypocrite. Bit like the half-dressed hypocrites at the Golden Globes. Self-righteous. Gloating. Pathetic. Makes one sick to the stomach.

      MM,
Another crop of totally unknowns to further mess up our lives. I look forward to one that’s ‘transgender’ so his/her/its arrival at No. 10’s doorstep will be more akin to a ‘lucky dip’ as he/her/its preference for gender changes with the clothing.
Surprised no mention anywhere of the stock observation at these times: ‘simply re-arranging the deck chairs on the Titanic’. I wait in hope.

Good … now we can start asking what is acceptable and OK. When does an apology matter. The point is that people are taking the moral high ground … then ignoring tweets from supporters etc. Some won’t mind and find it funny as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone (physically).

Remember the fun-loving, colourful and diverse threesome who attacked and killed a shopkeeper for not selling them ciggy papers to roll their joints? The beeb hopes you don’t, so they’ve moved the story to Regions on their webshite, which is 5 clicks down from the Home page. You can get repetitive strain injury before you get to it.

But msm have it top of their page on this computer.

Now: how does msm prioritise their stories? BY CLICK RATE! In other words, real people are still very much engaged with that story, as opposed to the agenda-driven libtard pc beeboids at our most biased broadcaster.
No wonder they hate the free market so much.

Typical of the over-privileged leftist dickhead, Mason; these middle-to-upper class wannabes suddenly stop supporting and criticise their beloved working class when the latter refuse to blindly follow their A Level textbook communist ideology; just proves that they’re not socialists and couldn’t care about working people one jot. Corbyn’s left are made-up primarily of middle class and posh students and ethnics. Just take a read of the nasty comments section. All middle class leftie scum slagging off the working classes… they are vile.

When the police are looking for the perpetrators of serious crimes they give out a description of the suspects, including of course ethnicity, when known. By withholding such info, aren’t the beeb accessories to crime, and should they not be prosecuted as such?

I still believe there will be major civil chaos in either Sweden, Denmark or France some time this new year. Not that the BBC would even countenance that possibility much less report on it when the time comes.

It’s a low bar for Hancock to rise above. I wonder if the BBC have anything to blackmail Hancock with.
