Listening to World Service news it lead on the head of MI5 chastising Russia for, well pretty much everything, including interference in the Western elections. He said this was not acceptable in “free and open” societies. Yes I would agree, but we are becoming less and less free and open and a bit of Nick Ferrari morning’s LBC show illustrated this nicely.

Ferrari had JRM in the studio and one caller pointed out the media’s lack of reporting on the recent Day for Freedom march and how Martin Sellner had been banned from entering the country. Nick didnt like where this convo was going and was quick to tell the caller that Sellner had subsequently been found to endorse forced repatriation which wasn’t the British way of doing things, the caller retorted before the plug was pulled on him “Free speech Nick”, …..quite.

The sublimely talented Sue Perkins opened her BAFTA awards speech with a gag about getting equal pay to Stephen Fry.

Haw haw haw! O my aching sides! We all wet ourselves laughing at such a breathtakingly original comment. If only Bill Hicks had lived to witness this comic genius. Now he can finally rest in peace now knowing his successor has arrived.

It was probably covered on here last week but I did have to laugh at the footage of the lawmakers in the Iranian parliament setting fire to the US flag and chanting Death to America like a bunch of crazed fanatics.

Oh yes, these people are moderates that you can do business with. They’re all so calm and rational and sensible. You could definitely trust these people.

Amazing how in the video that there is also a staggering lack of female representation. Surely that must be an accident…

Jeremy Vine Show debates whether people should be insulted by being called ‘gammons’ by ‘lefties’.

Apparently when viewed from the sweetness and light lefty hill, where name-calling isn’t allowed, they are getting upsets by ‘the right’ calling then ‘trots’, so they have decided to ‘fight back’ using the same technique!

So who are all these people who fling around racist, homophobe, Islamophobe, xenophobe, brexshiteer, Toreeee, scum, blackleg etc. and delight in using verbs like smash and fight? Womens’ Institute members?

It is telling that someone from the (extreme?) left is invited onto the BBC whereas no-one from ‘the right’, let alone ‘the extreme right’ would be allowed anywhere near a microphone. But then it is far better if ‘the extreme right’ is kept as that mysterious army lurking beneath the surface just waiting to unleash a campaign of bombing, bad driving and beheading far worse than anything our ‘brown-eyed’ lads and lasses have managed yet. What would Theresa May and the BBC do without their imaginary (white, blotchy skinned), bogie men?

BBC is genuinely getting worse. Today is even more than usual full of one sided, twisted propaganda… For example, in “African news” we’re treated to the heart rending story of a “White farmer” that allegedly forced one of his workers to drink faeces… Obviously this a much more important story than the regular murders of “White Farmers”. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/world-africa-44106750
Then we have the multitude of Israel stories…All utterly impartial, of course…

Not the BBC but evidence that Chistianity is ‘doomed’ – I am told that the local Baptist minister wants his congregation to skip a meal to show empathy with Muslims ‘celebrating’ ramadan.

Perhaps Deueronomy 13 is missing from his bible?

Deuteronomy 13 English Standard Version (ESV)

13 “If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’ you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God is testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. You shall walk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and hold fast to him. But that prophet or that dreamer of dreams shall be put to death, because he has taught rebellion against the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt and redeemed you out of the house of slavery, to make you leave the way in which the Lord your God commanded you to walk. So you shall purge the evil[a] from your midst.

    Happy 70th birthday, Israel!

When PM Benjamin Netanyahu was speaking at the ceremony marking the opening of the new U.S. embassy in Jerusalem, Sky News at least had the courtesy to focus the entire screen on him. BBC News, however, just had to split the screen into two so that they could show the unrest in Gaza alongside. What was the idea? No prizes for guessing!

PM Netanyahu addressed a couple of his remarks to President Trump (he was not there personally, but son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka Trump were):

“President Trump, by recognising history, you are making history.” (He certainly is!)

“Thank you, President Trump, for having the courage to keep your promises.”

In case anyone has lost track of the promises Trump made, this is the one relating to Israel (Facebook post, October 2016):

“I have said on numerous occasions that in a Trump Administration, the United States will recognize Jerusalem as the one true capital of Israel. The United Nations’ attempt to disconnect the State of Israel from Jerusalem is a one-sided attempt to ignore Israel’s 3,000-year bond to its capital city, and is further evidence of the enormous anti-Israel bias of the UN. Jerusalem is the enduring capital of the Jewish People and the overwhelming majority of Congress has voted to recognize Jerusalem as just that. Further, the decision by the Obama Administration to strike the word ‘Israel’ after the word ‘Jerusalem’ in the President’s prepared text was a capitulation to Israel’s enemies, and a posthumous embarrassment to Shimon Peres, whose memory the President was attempting to honor. In a Trump Administration, Israel will have a true, loyal and lasting friend in the United States of America.” Donald J. Trump

MSM, you should be very happy to cover a leader who keeps his promises and actually gets things done!

When I was watching Sky they had also adopted the “split screen” approach. I turned over to BBC “NEWS” and was surprised to find a single screen. This lasted all of 20 secs.
Wizard wheeze! Show two contemporaneous events to dishonestly imply there is some causal link.
My favourite “split screen” would be Ma Merkel’s “Islam gehört zu Deutschland” speech with a multiscreen showing all the Big Beard atrocies that have occurred in Germany.

Anybody able to tell what “claim” the Muslims have on Jerusalem.
It`s mentioned 654 times in the Old Testament
It`s mentioned 118 times in the New.
It is not mentioned ONCE in the Koran. Not once.
Basically the Caliphs only took it, by wiping out the Persians and Romans-the latter themselves had removed all trace of Israel , Judah and the Jews in AD135, 520 years before the Arabs came through.
The Arabs in Jerusalem than wanted their won power base, already venerated by Jews and Christians wiped out a few decades afterwards. They claimed that Muhammad had visited Al Quds(as they call it) in a dream where he “ascended into heaven on a white winged horse-or such bollox”( last four words are my hadith additions like theirs.
They then lst the long term battle within Islam and had to all pray towards Mecca again, and Jerusalem meant nothing but the excuse to keep the Jews out of their own land, and prevent Christians getting any holy sites. Just squatting bullies in the playground refusing everyone else to use the loo or play.
Islam has NO claim on Jerusalem. That`s what Mecca and Medina are for, and we`re not allowed in either. So F*** off BBC and Islam maties-Jerusalem is Jewish. And we Christians know that they`ll always let us go there-and it won`t be a chop chop hellhole like all other Muslim sites.
    Thanks Mr Trump!

No claim on Jerusalem at all, neither religious or political. With regards to the latter, Jordan annexed East Jerusalem and the West Bank in 1948-50 – an annexation recognised only by Iraq, Pakistan and… Britain. Israel liberated it in 1967, during the Six Days War. Jordan formally gave up any claim to the territory in 1988 and subsequently stripped the Palestinians living there of their Jordanian citizenship.

      Chris:

As you point out, in the koran, it only states that mohammed flew to al quds on his winged horse (as you do). It isn’t Jerusalem. Jerusalem had a name: Jerusalem. So where did al quds come from? Maybe mo flew somewhere else entirely. Maybe his winged horse was a bit like Ryanair, and dropped him off at an airport 100 miles from where he wanted to go.

Anyway you look at it, the muslim claim that Jerusalem is their holy city depends on you believing that a man who lived in the 7th Century flew on a winged horse to a place which wasn’t actually called Jerusalem. I think I can safely call bullshit on their claim.

If they wanted to live peacefully like civilized people, then peace might be possible. But the first thing they did when Israel pulled out of Gaza was to destroy all the greenhouses the Israelis built. The second thing was to start firing rockets into Israel. Now they are complaining that there are no prizes for behaving like chimps.

Oh dear. What a pity. Never mind.

Rob, the 17th chapter of The Koran “The Night Journey” describes the false prophet Muhammed being taken to ‘the farthest mosque’ by the alleged angel Gabriel.
The farthest mosque could have been anywhere (in Mo’s dream) but there was definitely no mosque in Jerusalem then. This was during Mo’s lifetime, Islam hadn’t spread from Arabia yet. Some Shiites claim that Karbala in Iraq is actually “the farthest mosque”.

Start the Week has a number of writers including Jordan Peterson, the BBC and Guardian’s arch nemesis, like Superman’s Lex Luther.

Oddly all the writers are invited to answer a pleasantly set up question to outline their views. Their thoughts are heard with thoughtful silence.

Jordan is delivered an antagonistic question that often goes on for a what feels like an age. The question is full of barbed put downs. Jordan Peterson starts on the defensive and is then interrupted throughout.

Yes, all the other writers would be at home with the Guardian.

The Irish author Louise O’Neill has made her name challenging the roles given to women.

Hashi Mohamed is a Somali who once worked for the BBC, and is critical of the lack of social mobility.

Lawrence Wright is a Texan is confronted by cowboy individualism, gun-loving patriotism and nostalgia for an ersatz past, but also finds pockets of liberal progressiveness and entrepreneurial drive.

Quite how he, Jeremy Corbyn and large chunks of the political and media left see what is going on in the terms they are trying to push, remains hard to understand.

They are getting away with claiming ‘unarmed’, ‘peaceful’ men (with assorted infant and variably disabled… there is a bizarrely funny video of a combat recovery… cover props) storming another nations borders at the behest of cynical old men in gaudy carved chairs is somehow ‘proportionate’.

Only if you use the Husain Scale, maybe.

Our media led by the BBC seems genuinely enraged by the Israelis and the embassy move. Now who could have predicted that ?
There should be an in depth examination of the complex history of Jerusalem with reference to the period 1947 to the current time in detail and this would go some way to explaining how the present situation has arisen. But that would would imperil the blame Israel narrative and upset our BDS lobby now running the universities.
Not to mention the BBC correspondents.
At present it is obvious that they are intent on attacking Israel .
I assume there will now be intensified protests when President Trump come here . I am sure he has discounted this already and will either cancel or put up with the insults. Serves the purpose either way which is to demonstrate to the US people exactly which nations are now to be treated as hostile .
Seems Macron worked this out and has made his play to his and the advantage of France . A situation is arising and the results could be far reaching affecting this country to it’s core. Many of us could see it coming but with our beauties running the show it could not be stopped.

I gave up on it last year but happened to catch Newshite tonight and watched with interest their attempts to explain the real issues at the heart of the NI/ EU border issue.

Seemingly Brexit might fail because of the logistical inconveniences, hurt feelings and minor hardships placed upon the downtrodden Irish by the British failing to ask their permission and consider their interests before selfishly and treacherously voting for Brexit. Why Britain or the British should really give a shit about how the Irish feel about Brexit is beyond me although as I am Northern Irish living in NI, apparently I should care. I don’t and despite the best efforts of Evan Davies and the bBbc , I am none the wiser as to why I should.

Tonight all I saw was a programme and a presenter full of hyperbole, hypothesis and horseshit. The guts of an hour of scaremongering masquerading as journalism that was continually exposed as nonsense by the studio guests and by the poor quality and ineffective research, presentation and argument.

Hard border or soft border it matters not an effing jot to me however there is technology available to keep the border as relaxed as it is at present if so desired. I think most people know this and have said that this is what they want. The invited civilians and right minded commentators on Newshite tonight certainly do as they told Evan Davies this, so there is no excuse for his ignorance of this at all. Other than his ignorance of course. The only people pretending that the NI border has to be a Brexit deal breaker are the media, led by the bBbc, the Irish /EU politicians and the republican representatives and apologists. Duplicitous charlatans one and all.

What virtue signalling, weak nonsense . Who cares? An aslylum seeker put a bomb on our tube last year and amoat murdered loads of school children; it is terrifying how such stories are more or less memory holed now with no big inquest, ‘outrage’ etc. He even said he had been to a terror training camp and they still let him in!

The BBC should be focussed on stopping such an atrocity being planned again, though of course it is easier to pretend the problem is with deported claimants being cuffed too hard. The problem is that we are far too soft and lives will be lost as a result.

What about the majority of doctors being women? It sounds great but they cost a fortune to train then often choose to work part-time, which must cost the beloved NHS billions. To even mention the subject would be seen as outrageous sexism and would lead to you being unpersoned.

      Gaza violence: Fresh protests expected

      Gaza violence

More demonstrations are expected in the Palestinian territories today, following the killing of 55 people by Israeli troops in Gaza on Monday. Tensions are likely to be particularly high where funerals for those killed are taking place. Tuesday also marks the 70th anniversary of what Palestinians call the Nakba, or Catastrophe, which saw thousands flee as Israel was being created in 1948.

Monday’s violence came as the US opened its embassy in Jerusalem, which has incensed Palestinians, who claim the eastern part of the city as the capital of a future Palestinian state. Palestinian officials said about 2,700 people had been injured.

But Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his military had acted in self-defence against Gaza’s Islamist rulers, Hamas. Hamas wanted to destroy Israel, he added.

So what, if anything, can be done to resolve the settlement issue?“

      ***

Well, BBC, to answer your last question, look at your first line.

Maybe the violence would not happen if old men did not send young men on ‘’demons…’ border assaults as TV cannon fodder to give the likes of the BBC wet knickers?

And maybe ponder a bit on what religion seems to be at the core of lethal kicking off during periods of fasting, or funerals, or…?

“The toll in today’s Gaza riots (according to the Hamas) currently stands at around 55 Arabs dead (amongst whom, say the Israelis, are at least ten Hamas terrorists); that toll may well rise with further riots threatened tomorrow and the day after.

The people who caused these deaths are the Hamas themselves. But the people at whose door these dead Arabs should also be laid are the BBC and those in the rest of the British and other media who have acted their part in the script the Hamas has written: to cause as many Gazans to lose their lives as possible, the younger the better, so that the western media will portray Israel as wanton and disproportionate killers.”

Last night’s news on BBC I heard the newsreader Fiona Bruce (I do like calling them newsreaders although they think themselves so much more important) that several of the dead in Gaza were children …. some of them as young as 14. If I knew there would be trouble in demonstrations that would lead to deaths, would I let my 14 year old son attend? I think not. And the use of ‘children’ in this context. If they were black kids in south London stabbings they would at the very least be ‘youths’. Obviously the BBC newsreader was reading the press releases put out by Hamas.

How long are you going to live?

Not only is the cartoon illustration the BBC’s wet dream of what a British family should look like but the BBC just cannot do any real “science”….

Life expectancy is rising globally – people born in 2016 will on average live seven years longer than those born 25 years ago.

They still think people are living to ever increasing age (longevity) which it not the case at all. Longevity has risen very slightly over the last few hundred years.

I remember a school teacher incorrectly explaining to my class that the average lifespan in Afghanistan was 35 and he said no one really lives to 40 years old. Of course this is bollox as Afghanistan has a high infant mortality rate – take 2 people one dies as a baby one lives to 70 so average life span is 35. Now apply better medicine and baby doesn’t die and both live to 70. Average life span has now jumped from 35 to 70 but noone is ‘living 35 years longer’ than they did years ago.

This simple fact is always lost on the likes of the BBC leftie science department who will then crowbar in how we need mass immigration to support all those old people living to 130 years old!

It has actually recently fallen slightly in some parts of the UK. The TOADY Programme got in quite a tizzy over it for all of a day. Then their normal attention span kicked in. As you hinted in your post, the BBC has trouble with understanding the word average, too.

Both WHO and World Bank show figures for different nations. In the developed world, Actuaries predict life expectancy using gathered information for a variety of purposes, not least Government planning and products like private pensions and life insurance.

The actuarial tables I looked at a long time ago (averaging for the UK) were pretty much spot on for the turn of the century and on into its second decade.

    It amounts to espionage.
“… hardcore Remainers, who feel they can meet with the other side without a clear role or mandate to do so, should be publicly held to account, particularly by the media, and asked to justify their actions. So far, that is something which the media, much of it hopelessly biased, has avoided doing.”
“To oppose the Government of the day within the UK is what the opposition is about and is beyond reproach. To coordinate and collude with the foreign powers opposed to Government policy, to pass inside information which potentially damages the UK’s interests and to publicise such actions as somehow honourable is entirely something else.”
