Weekend Open Thread 10 November 2018

The failing Far Left BBC has enjoyed itself stabbing President Trump with its forked tongue . Now it will switch into the commemoration of the Armistice . Once upon a time it would have been wholesome and commemorated all those lives taken in the name of the freedom of Britain and the Empire from the Germans of various brands as well as other former enemies – and all wars that our country has engaged.

Let us hope those running the BBC can suspend the indoctrination  propaganda and just remember and offer thanks and – perhaps prayers to those who lost so much . RIP.

Decent language please- particularly this Weekend.

UK not offering asylum to Asia Bibi, according to HuffPost which quotes a source at the British Pakistani Christian Association:

“I’ve been lead to believe that the UK government had concerns that her moving to the UK would cause security concerns and unrest among certain sections of the community and would also be a security threat to British embassies abroad which might be targeted by Islamist terrorists.”

Hard to verify, but not a wholly surprising response if the info is correct. That sinister, ubiquitous phrase ‘sections of the community’ for the win (yet again). Other refugees in need of the latest iPhone upgrade are of course still welcome.

Good Brexit news from Al Beeb?………….“UK economy grows at fastest rate since late 2016”
But they add ‘Signs of weakness’. They have to find something wrong about Brexit……..

“However, car manufacture for export grew across the quarter, boosting factory output. Meanwhile, imports of cars dropped substantially, helping to improve Britain’s trade balance.”
Samuel Tombs, chief UK economist at Pantheon Macroeconomics, said: “Two consecutive months of stagnation in GDP underline that the economy has little momentum and that the strong quarter-on-quarter growth rate simply reflects the weather-related rebound in the summer.
“The expenditure breakdown of GDP, meanwhile, shows that business investment fell by 1.2% quarter-on-quarter in Q3, taking the total decline since the peak in Q4 2017 to 2.4%. The risk of a no-deal Brexit is the clear driver of the downturn.”

Two years on and our Mrs Chamberlain has not achieved anything but uncertainty .

Is the UK economy growing because of the austerity measures which have helped turn this country around? According to the BBC, maybe not a they hardly ever post anything positive about this country and if they do thee will always be a bit of a spin on it.

Apart from left wing Survation, all polls have show narrow leads to the Tories, some are hinting towards a continued trend against Labour whose support has decline massively since the last election.

I am suspicious about other pollsters as well. Why did only one poll get released post budget? A budget that was seen as well received by the public? In fact the budget was so well received the BBC had o run to an independent left wing group so they could publish their exposed report that the budget ‘only benefits the rich?’

I actually think that the Tories would poll higher or at least Labour would poll lower had the BBC not try to meddle in everything. Every week after PMQs Corbyn would be on the front page with his witty questions while the article would ignore all of the mistakes and exaggerations he makes.

Of course Brexit is causing the Tories a lot of hard work but this s an on going process with a lot of behind the scenes stuff that journalists do not have access to or at least information that the BBC ignore if it does not fit their agenda.

Is Brexit going badly According the BBC it is but then again we all know what their agenda is by now and the less attention that people pay them then the bigger shock it is for them when they finally implode. I would like to say that within a decade there will be no more BBC and if they are still around I think that they would be much smaller than they are now.

Not to worry though, there are actually record numbers of people in employment (not that the BBC let us know that) so the left wing journalist and analysts can find work in a shiny new tech industry that the BBC would rather keep quiet from us

Well now yesterday’s main headline from Al Beeb was the Parole Board and their little difficulty about morale because we might not think so much of them . Letting criminals out of jail shouldn’t be controversial at all , Beeboids think . And why not take a punt and let dangerous ones go free , if the risk isn’t borne by the self anointed ? Risk averse isn’t something you should have when assessing a convicts suitability for his actions outside a prison .
So what government branch / civil service / quango will be defended by the BBC next week ? What lofty people should be excemplified as so virtuous that they can run an organisation without any regards to the ordinary Joe ?
I’m laying it will be the Customs and Immigration sevice . Any takers ?

The BBC obviously think that the news about Hassan Kalif Shire Ali ( peace be upon him) is not in anyway of interest to us as it’s all but forgotten by them. Still, they are the worlds most trusted news organisation and get it it ‘about right’ so it can’t be of interest to us after all.

    Debunking Islmaphobia
    http://www.sullivan-county.com/bristol/boucher1.htm

I’ll quote one writer on why so many loath Islam is because of what they do:

Your most strategic partners in the fight against Islamophobia are not Christians, but your fellow Muslims.

If Muslims stopped killing other Muslims because they belong to a different sect; stopped forcing their chosen practices on other Muslims; tolerated less pious Muslims; did not feel enraged if other Muslims did not abstain from alcohol or pork, or did not attend the mosque; did not kill men, women and children because they adhered to other faiths; did not blame rape on the length of a woman’s skirt; did not murder their own wives because they spoke to strangers, or their daughters because they flirted with boys or because they were raped by rascals; did not wish to start World War III because some maverick cartoonist drew blasphemous caricatures; did not issue death fatwas because an author wrote a blasphemous book; or did not aim to spread their religion to the entire world, by the sword if necessary, then fighting Islamophobia would be much easier.

The close connection of Muslim organizations such as CAIR (declared a terrorist organization by the Arab UAE) and other Muslim Brotherhood affiliated groups and Saudi backed Wahhabism are plenty of reasons to loath Islam. Saudi Arabia controls many of the Mosques in the West and is directly in many eyes behind the 911 Muslim terror attacks.

Islam’s continuing attacks on Christians and others was ignored by the Obama Administration and is not condemned by Muslims in general – it’s always a long litany of manufactured injustices.

Belief in Sharia Law is extremism in itself and because it’s incompatible with western culture and individual liberty must be why the atheist-left is so supportive – Muslims are seen as useful allies to attack the system.

Tarek Fatah (a Muslim) noted in The Toronto Sun January 20, 2015:

As the world struggles to understand and cope with the rise of pan-Islamism and international jihadi terrorism within Western countries, one thing is becoming increasingly clear – the success of the Islamists is partly due to what I believe is a grand betrayal of civil society by the political left in Western democracies. Instead of leading the fight against the fanatics’ religious obscurantism, they have embraced it…

While Mr. Tatah can blame the Left for embracing pan-Islamism which in fact they have, the largest share of blame must be born by Muslims that REFUSE in large numbers to renounce the thugs by name and their causes.

  6. Annunaki says:

    1) Definition of racism: holding differing standards or treating people differently due to race, that like gender and species, is a product of biology. Examples of racism today is affirmative action, pretending one’s value is based on race and not merit or individual achievement, etc.

There are no such things as trans-racialism, trans-genderism, or trans-species. You are not a cat because your mental condition leads you to believe you are.

Racism has nothing to do with criticism of culture, politics, religion, behavior, etc. Islamic politics-religion or Latino Culture, for example, is not a race nor is Hinduism or Christianity. Yelling racism on every issue makes the term a joke.

Noting the high levels of minority violence and criminality is a critique of culture and behavior and for the same reason, the critique of white trash meth heads has NOTHING to do with race.

    2) Definition of liberty: “The state of being free within society from oppressive restrictions imposed by authority on one’s way of life, behavior, or political views.” Collectivist philosophies such as modern liberalism and fundamentalist’ religions (Islam in particular) reject liberty.

    3) Definition of freedom: “The power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.” Or “absence of subjection to the domination of despotic government.” Or “the state of not being imprisoned or enslaved.” The opposite is statism, socialism, and collectivism.

    4) Definition of oppression: “prolonged unjust treatment or control.” This has nothing to do with crime control or economic outcome equality, etc. Oppression is lack political freedom or individual liberty both of which don’t exist on most college campuses or under Democrat Party racialist socialism enclaves.

    5) Definition of reason: “(N) a cause, explanation, or justification for an action or event.” “(V) The power of the mind to think, understand, and form judgments by a process of logic.”

    6) Definition of fundamentalism: “a strict adherence to some belief (Islam, Judaism, Christianity, etc.) or ideology (Leftism, environmentalism), especially in a religious context.” Often runs hand-in-hand with authoritarianism.

    7) Definition free will: “The power of acting without the constraint of necessity or fate, the ability to act at one’s own discretion.” The polar opposite of determinism – I advocate free will – you control your own action unless mentally ill or live under an authoritarian government such as socialist Venezuela or fundamentalist’ Iran.

    8) Definition determinism: “the doctrine that all events, including human action, are ultimately determined by causes external to the will. Some philosophers have taken determinism to imply that individual human beings have no free will and cannot be held morally responsible for their actions.” There is no empirical or scientific basis for this claim and is an aspect of Leftism that posits people can be programmed based on government intervention. Screwups and criminals in particular if members of a protected class are never held responsible for their actions.

    9) Definition empiricism: “the theory that all knowledge is derived from sense-experience. Stimulated by the rise of experimental science, it developed in 17th and 18th centuries” in Europe and America. That means one must present physical, verifiable proof not vote, conjecture, authority, or mere opinion. John Locke and David Hume are two of it’s early leaders. Science without empiricism is not science. Empiricism has nothing to do with faith, feelings, or popular vote. Leftism rejects empiricism.

    10) Definition of rationalism: “a belief or theory that opinions and actions should be based on reason and knowledge rather than on religious belief or emotional response.”

    11) Definition irrationalism: “a system emphasizing intuition, instinct, feeling, or faith rather than reason or holding that the universe is governed by irrational forces.” (Merriam-Webster) Another form of this is reading, often abused by religious kooks and political activists (judges in particular), one’s beliefs/feelings into a text unrelated to that belief or the words as normally defined and written.

For example, many Christian and even Jewish commonly held beliefs are not supported in the Bible as written. Spare me “guidance” from angels, spirits, etc. Deut. 6:4 says God is one, while the Ten Commandments says worship of anyone or anything physical other than God is blasphemy, and you don’t get to change that fact or meaning of the text regardless of later religious authority.

    12) Definition pseudo-religion: “or pseudotheology is a pejorative term applied to a non-mainstream belief system or philosophy which is functionally similar to a religious movement, typically having a founder, principal, text, liturgy, and faith-based beliefs.” I’d add mostly secular type beliefs with no clear or multiple “founders.” Social Justice is a hodge-podge of irrational and disjointed anti-Western hate that’s the pseudo-religion of Leftism. Climate Change aka Climate Justice is another pseudo-religious sub-belief of Leftism.

    13) Definition Neo-Luddism: “any modern philosophy that is fearing and distrustful of the changes that will be brought about by technological advances. But it’s also a specific political movement, one that’s largely environmental in nature…” Another term I use is technophobia. Ref. “A Field Guide to Anti-Technology Movements, Past and Present” by Caroline Gregoire

    14) Definition of spiritualism: communication with the dead through a medium. Closely related is divine revelation where a deity, angels, etc. communicate with a prophet or other chosen individual. Also, a belief that spirit and not just matter makes up reality/universe. I classify this under irrationalism and superstition.

    15) Definition of environmentalism: multiple definitions. A theory that views environment alone rather than heredity/genetics in human and cultural development. (Leftist dogma.) This is the basis of most social engineering (with determinism) and is not scientific because there’s no empirical/scientific proof the claim, in fact the opposite.

Or “Political and ethical movement…” Places non-human entities (rock formations, rivers, Nature, etc.) as having rights equal to or above human welfare, etc. Has undercurrents of Marxism/socialism, religious pantheism, Neo-Luddism, and spiritualism. Tends to be pseudo-religious and authoritarian.

We would all like to have a highly paid job, Jeremy, and be able to live in an expensive house within walking or cycling distance of a single place of work.

Some have to be Doctors (in the NHS that you no doubt revere, Jeremy) and need to travel quickly & efficiently between two or three hospitals in a Group.

Some have to be engineers or technicians of some sort that carry equipment, tools and supplies from home to client and possibly/probably on to another client and then another through the working day.

I just hope, Jeremy, that if you fall off your bicycle thanks to one of Mayor Khan’s potholes, when the NHS wishes to put bandages & drugs on your injuries that you do not have to refuse treatment because said bandages & drugs were delivered to the NHS by a fossil-fuel burning vehicle, perhaps in a car!

Great that Dr Who is haemorrhaging viewers. As long as the show is good I could not care less about the gender, skin colour etc or the stars. We used to love Fresh Prince of Bel Air growing up as it was so good – not because it dealt with ‘black issues’ in a serious, leftoid way but because it was fun, funny etc. How much brouhaha and back slapping about a female Dr Who? Yet for all that it has ruined the show.

Equally, Sadiq Khan’s election was meant to magically work wonders due to his skin colour but due to his incompetence minority men are being murdered.

Will they ever reconsider the whole ‘diversity above all’ nonsense in the face of such overwhelming evidence that character is all that matters? If the industrial racist raping of children does not then clearly nothing ever will.

Not just incompetence, I think he is also in post as a potential Labour spoiler to any and every Conservative Government that might be in power in Westminster.

Regional Mayors are not a good idea in a small country like the UK. (It is why sensible, thoughtful people in the north-east of England have largely rejected them so far.) They are expensive, tax-payer funded spoilers to any united, cohesive governance.

In the case of this man Sadiq Khan you are correct-but let us remind ourselves of how he got voted, never mind that he should never have been given a right to stand, it was the overpowering Londonstan majority that gave him the Mayorship of London-that gave a great boost to all Muslims wherever in the world to have one of theirs in such power. Are politicians self-serving and treacherous by nature? The present Brexit chaos was inevitable, once parliament demanded back the decision it had ‘given’ to the people.
You think back to the expenses scandal etc and you wonder whether any of them care a fig about ‘making a difference’. They seem to want power, and to rub the faces of voters in the dirt every ever so often, to remind them who’s boss.
There may once even have been people with principles, even if we didn’t agree with them: an Enoch Powell, a Tony Benn, a Margaret Thatcher.
But, the Commons- crowded out with people who are there because they represent some or the other ‘minority’, MPs now seem mostly devoid of common sense, intelligence and integrity –and even the basic skills with which to perform their jobs. I won’t even talk about the laughable bunch sitting in the Lords, the very symbol of all that is wrong with our model of ‘democracy’.
The media are mostly complicit: this morning Toady ended with a few words from Polly Toynbee, says it all really.

This is going back ten years to an Intelligence Squared debate on the proposition that George Bush was the worst US president in 50 years.

I bring it to the attention of my esteemed colleagues here because of a fascinating exchange between a tough black dude in the audience and Simon Jenkins, whose entire contribution to the debate was to trash Bush’s America and sympathise with the Muslim world – as one would expect from a Guardian writer and member of the blinkered liberal elite of which the BBC is such a staunch member.

Debate moderator John Donvan could see that the back dude was not satisfied with the answer to his question so he allowed him to follow it up.

A future in which we realise that global success and local failure will always sadly go hand in hand: that of course we can continue to grow and compete with China or we can nourish our landscapes, cultures and relationships, as those who gave their lives in both world wars would have wanted, BUT we cannot do both. To battle for what is ours, rather than to watch it pulled out from under us by the EU Government, by money and self interest. Because, ultimately whatever central or local government does, whatever laws might be made for or against, our country can only be created by the people who live in it-if we are successful in moving away fromm that dependency culture which will eventually cripple us, then it is up to all of us. There is still a United Kingsom, still a green and pleasant land, but it can live or die and then we shall be citizens of Nowhere, or we can know it and be prepared to stand up for it as they did in 1918. The choice as ever is ours.

      Country ,
After getting fed up and abused on this subject last night – which I didn’t expect to be so offensive I said I wouldn’t be writing until after Sunday – but would be monitoring the site .

My view is this . One day there will be a review of the BBC and a call for evidence of its behaviour , I’d hope that this and other sites can provide that evidence to get the BBC either changed or abolished .
I’m not going to engage in what and is not permissible – apart from what I wrote yesterday . Some might treat it as a game – well as they say – good luck with that .

I’m more interested in what the BBC is doing .

Sometime ago there was a call for volunteers to help with this site and its’ aims . So I volunteered . I’m not sorry for what I do but I am sorry for people who want to put the C or F word on the site .
In real life I can swear like a trooper in certain circumstances and grew up in East Londonistan where F was used in every other sentence . But a blog like this and its’ archive is a bit different isn’t it?

If any one replies to this requesting me to comment it won’t be until after the 11th of November – the day which in my opinion started the rot which has led this country to the sorry state it is in now . Message Ends .

One advantage of communicating via a keyboard is that there is a delete key and there is no limit on how many times one can use it before clicking on the ‘post’ button.

Swearing is one way of expressing anger but it isn’t very good at explaining why one is angry, indeed expressing anger at all is a very good way of losing a (potential) dispute. Contrast “Excuse me waiter, I think there is something wrong with my meal”, with, “Oi! Fatty! Get your … over ‘ere..”. The former approach allows for resolution, the latter ensures conflict. ‘Shouting’ may feel good but it loses audiences and arguments.

Changing someone’s name can be fun but at the end of the day it is just name-calling and I think it is better to offer sound arguments rather than copy the examples of those that resort to ‘racist, ‘Daily Mail reader’ etc.

Abbreviating ‘naughty’ words as place-holders in an explanation is one thing but I don’t like to see it used where I wouldn’t like to see the actual word, i.e. under no circumstances would I use the ‘f-word’, (substitution used as place-holder), and accordingly I don’t like to see the phrase containing that word abbreviated to three letters that needs to be ‘spoken’ in full when read.

Facts and arguments please, not ‘effing’ feelings – it’s the ‘feelings’ people that we are up against!

I don’t get to decide what polite discourse is but I can say where my limits lie. The point that I was trying to make is that a comment can be between mild and hard-core but turn up the wick and fewer people will listen to the message.

As to ‘feelings’, the language isn’t important, saying “The BBC is rubbish” is a feeling, albeit mildly expressed. It becomes no more than a feeling by wrapping it up with verbal effluent. In the context of this site, and in the sense that I meant it, ‘facts’ would be explaining why “The BBC is rubbish”. That will, of course, be subjective but at least it gives some basis for discussion.

P.S. Fedup2 I commend you for your patience and restraint!

“The United Nations, in a non-binding agreement that almost all UN member states will sign at a ceremony in Morocco in early December, is making migration a human right.”

    Read at:
    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/13263/un-migration-human-right

I couldn’t find anything about this on the BBC website and I don’t remember hearing anything on R4.

Also of interest is Gatestone’s monthly account of “A Month of Multiculturalism in Britain: October 2018”.

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/13259/britain-multiculturalism-october

I don’t think this is biased by being selective. Gatestone seems to be one of the few places you get to know what is really going on. In that article it’s depressing that the percentages in surveys objecting to various aspects of islamisation are so low.

Just think, as more countries back out of the Grand Migration Plan, it will leave that UN quoted 250 million odd “migrants” kicking about right now, less countries to ‘select’ to settle in. Since the UK has always been a preferred location as a result of the generous benefit system paid for by the , “good ol’ taxpayer”, “all the more the merrier”? After all, what could be the affect of reaching a 100 million in the UK in a short space of time – the extra millions arriving as and when they please. Forget getting to see a GP…………….

As fedup2 mentioned, there was a call for volunteer editors to monitor the site and so I did. One of David Vance’s concerns – perhaps the main concern – was swearing.

It’s not a good idea for this site to start to resemble the comment sections under contentious YouTube videos. That will just discredit the site and damage the message that we strive to send to the BBC and its fellow travelers.

Of course I absolutely agree that the owner and editor of the website should write and enforce the rule book. My problem is that I received the majority of my education on building sites and if it’s not permitted to use F’s and C’s it reduces my known, usable vocabulary by about 70%. And probably a good portion of the remaining 30% would be flying a bit close to the wind.
Your suggested compromise of: %)&$, doesn’t really do it for me. What is meant by percent, bracket, ampersand, dollar.?
Seriously though, if I had thought for one moment that my use of an expletive would set some of my shipmates at each other’s throats I would certainly have chosen an alternative way to express my thoughts. The last thing we need is infighting.
Perhaps I will seek out some English evening classes to increase my vocabulary skills. Sorry to all that were offended by my post.

Now, this IS impressive. After seeing Fedup2’s post re ‘They Shall Not Grow Old’ I had a search on the BBC website when I saw an interesting link on the BBC III site about misheard lyrics written by ‘Ashitha Nagesh’. It began okay and then, a few sentences in, this:

“Before we had responsibilities and, admittedly, before we fully realised how problematic it was that the only black woman in the group was called Scary. Sigh.”

I am no massive fan of the group but I don’t recall anyone, let alone the singer herself, claiming the name was ‘problematic’. Could it be that Ms Nagesh (“Brown, Vegan” – her words) has discovered a previously unknown issue with race and felt compelled to share?

Happily corrected if this WAS an issue. Just seems an odd thing to bring in to an article on misheard lyrics.

    ‘Sigh’.

BBC R4 News at 6 o’clock: The headlines ended with: ” … and Trump calls off a visit to the American Cemetery because of rain” (beautifully constructed to ensure maximum sneering and derision from the listening public, and in line with the BBC’s anti-Trump crusade). The main news was no better, with the listener given the impression that Pres. Trump called off the visit because he might get wet. A truthful BBC would have said something like “… President Trump was unable to visit the American Cemetery because heavy rain had grounded his helicopter, Marine One.” (the real cause places no blame on Pres. Trump, therefore the BBC would not have included that sort of statement in the news. Is there any wonder that thinking folk mistrust the BBC, especially where Pres. Trump is concerned. .

This is precisely the reason why President Trump quite rightly dispises the BBC , CNN etc etc. There is no way on god’s earth he wouldn’t attend the said event just because it was raining. Just would NOT happen. There’s no doubt a very good reason but the BBC won’t give a toss about finding out the real reason when they can whip the SJW’s and snowflakes into a twitter frenzy and belittle the President once again. I along with President Trump utterly despise the BBC and this is the perfect example of why. It’s actually disgusting bias and when people like katty, Sopel and Bowen retweet this crap it highlights the depth of the cesspit we are dealing with. But it is also possible Presidents may have other reasons; maybe some that could emerge, or need to be kept secret.

JEREMY CLARKSON in The Sun today.
“BBC is now only giving front-line jobs to women just like Doctor Who — and they’ve totally lost the plot.”

HAVEN’T watched Dr Who since I was a small boy and I didn’t understand it even then, but I’m told the current series is in trouble — with viewing figures in freefall.

Angry fans say it’s littered with ham- fisted attempts to ram Lefty dogma down our throats, and if you look at the storylines, it seems they do have a point.
The Doctor has witnessed a man giving birth and has visited a civil rights activist in Alabama in the 1950s. It’s not so much “exterminate, exterminate, exterminate” as “indoctrinate, indoctrinate, indoctrinate”.

Next up, I should imagine, the Tardis will be serviced free of charge by a nice, beardy man called Jeremy Corbyn. The BBC really is having a hard time with being neutral these days.

I heard one of its news reporters this week explaining that fat-cat businessmen who pay themselves too much should think twice.

He may have a point. It may be something many people agree with. But his job is to report the news, not give us his opinion on it. We get this constantly these days.

Every time they mention Donald Trump, you can actually hear them swallowing their own sick. There is a palpable sense that they hate him and an assumption that you do too.

This may be correct. It’s hard to find a Trump fan on this side of the Atlantic, but it’s not the BBC’s job to reflect this.

Naturally, the BBC has embraced the #metoo movement and, keen to show off its pioneering spirit, is now only giving frontline jobs to women. Bravely, Nick Robinson auditioned this week to be host of Question Time, but there is literally no way in hell he’ll get the gig.

It’ll go to a woman, same as the Radio 2 Breakfast show, and the drive-time show and, indeed, the role of Dr Who.

Back in the summer, a BBC chief actually said that the days of middle-aged white men standing on hills telling the viewers things are over. On that basis, there will be no more Attenborough. Maybe that’s why his next series is being made by Netflix.

I watched a BBC film this week. It’s called Denial, it has a stellar cast and the storyline is this: The holocaust did happen.

I’m aware that there are three or maybe four people in the world who think it didn’t, but making a whole film to prove them wrong seems silly. It’d be like making a film to show everyone that the world is round.

But even though we know about the Holocaust, the hero of the piece — Rachel Weisz — becomes increasingly shrill throughout the movie, shrieking over and over again about how the gas chambers were real. We know, love. Calm down.
After about 50 minutes, I decided I’d pitch the BBC a film that proves once and for all that pigeons definitely have wings.

But then I was distracted because Rachel was in the middle of a speech about all of the other things that are undeniable. I waited a moment because I knew it was coming, and yes!!! There it was: Global warming.

I spent many happy years at the BBC and made many friends. I like it. I think it’s a valuable institution.

But there is absolutely no doubt that these days, it’s been hijacked by people who wouldn’t know the concept of “unbiased” even if it leapt out of a hedge in a pirate costume and bit their foot.
